It’s a different world. I firmly believe the ‘selling out’ is just scalpers trying to make money. Todays calling world is way different than 20 years ago.

The fact of the matter is there’s no reason to buy a Wii U 2 except for Mario kart world. Or to call it a switch pro to play older switch 1 games like pokemon that were broken and now run properly 5 years post launch.
Let it go. You don’t want one or can’t afford one. Whatever. We get it.

I disagree. People are looking at consoles the wrong way now. It's time to accept that these companies are not looking to reinvent the wheel anymore and that they are now committed to forward compatibility from here on out. It's better to think about it like a phone upgrade. After owning a Switch 1 since 2017 it was time for an upgrade. Quality of life improvements alone make it a night and day difference. I'm glad Nintendo didn't try to force some dumb gimmick this time.

Oh I completely agree! This is a switch pro. Not a sequel. They named it incorrectly.

I’m glad you mentioned this specifically. It’s getting old when people say I’m knocking the console. The fact is it isn’t a new consoles, it’s a super late minor upgrade. Just like the ps5 pro, people are buying it to play older games better. It’ll take at least a year for proper ‘pro’ built games to come out.

I wish it were a Wii U 2; then we would have a sequel or remake of Nintendoland, which is one of the best things gaming experiences ever. Your insult makes no sense.

Not trying to insult. Just enjoy calling it a Wii U.

Gotcha. I don't want to steal your fun.

Personally when I think Wii U, I recall the first home gaming console that had a handheld in the box and the ability to run dual displays (different screen content on the pad vs the TV). Sure the pad was essentially tethered (by a wireless signal) and I'm sure I'm like a broken record here, but that multi display capability made for some amazing couch multiplayer experiences.

I would be really stoked if we could get a dumb, $20 msrp streaming receiver in our docks to do a similar trick today, but it's pretty clear the marketplace doesn't care much about interesting in person multi-player experiences.

There sure is a lot of strange hate for this console. I didn't have a Switch 1 but had every Ninty console prior and happily picked up the latest Switch 2, and think it's solid tech. I do think much of the discontent is because Nintendo didn't have a proper launch title ready but I'm cautiously optimistic that it has an ace or two up its sleeve and we're going to see them at its next direct. I imagine the sour grapes are going to change pretty quickly once those reveals happen.

I've always bought Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games and pretty much only for them. No doubt the Switch 2 is going to be home to a slew of Nintendo's next greatest games and the power in it should be plenty enough for us to see some amazing new titles.

MK World is super fun, btw. It's easily an upgrade from MK8 (played that last on my Wii U) and the visual chaos and fidelity onscreen is a delight. I'd forgotten how charming and simple fun Nintendo's games can be. Also finally got to play Odyssey (played it base and then added the Switch 2 enhancements) and it was a good ol' time. No one does platforming like Nintendo and while I don't "fall deep" into Nintendo's games anymore (i.e., they don't keep me playing for hours on end), I do enjoy them and find them to be among the industry's best experiences offered.

I agree with your point. I (personally) have a difficult time spending $500 on a system just for their 1st party games when the X/PS will run (I am guessing here, but feel fairly confident) non-exclusive games better.

DId I buy a SteamDeck when it first released? Absolutely!

Why? because I did not have a computer at home (well a work cocmputer, but firewalls and capability) and wanted access to my Steam Library. It was like buying a console with over....well let's not dicuss the number of games here and leave that for the Steam forum

Also, I must say, after hearing how much better switch 1 games (Zelda TotK is still in its wrapper) play on it, I may, at some point, possibly, get a Switch 2 (maybe)

I for sure do not need it now. If MK World is as good as people say, it will still be good for years to come considering I still use MK8 on the Switch

And there sure is a lot of misunderstanding going on. People genuinely either care about the console or don't give a shit. It's a lightning rod of the actual issue which is Nintendo. Withholding system specifics indefinitely and sending review hardware the day before release is extremely anti-consumer practice. Raising the price of games with a non-quantifiable reason of "we could only make the game for this price" is bullshit. Threatening EULA's reserving the right to brick your purchase for any reason they deem is unacceptable, especially when at worst a ban is appropriate for malicious modifications.

They have a responsibility as an industry leader, if not lead, to set good examples. They have now strayed beyond greed and into territory that should be punished by the public, but people clearly don't value anything but their drip. Switch 2 is fine, but Nintendo and the people that still support this shit are becoming hated.

We got a beta tester! Swarm, swarm!
Why not include more of what I said so it actually makes sense... or do you work for the media?

What I said (without being taken out of context)

I think he was kidding.

I've definitely seen a lot of arguments that this is a switch pro but it doesn't really matter. Fact is switch sold so well Nintendo didn't have to release an updated one until now.

just curious, not bickering. Why wouldn’t this be called a switch pro? Better chipset, larger, plays old games better, and same under interface. As far as I can tell, there’s nothing to constitute this as a ‘new’ console. my biggest gripe is no launch games and a downgraded screen.

It feels like a Switch Pro but since it has its own exclusives, it cannot be a Pro. However, it COULD be a New Nintendo Switch.

Which exclusives are you referring to? There’s only one game out for the system, Mario world. And if what I was told is true, I wouldn’t be shocked. That Mario kart world was for the switch 1 and Nintendo purposely pushed it back since the ‘new’ switch would have zero launch games.

You’re never gonna be happy.

No idea where you’re getting this from. Just chatting here with general banter.

If you’re referring to the ‘new’ switch. OLED screen, limited edition or 1st edition colors, and a few launch games. Would have it preordered day one. I traded in an extra PS5 I had for $410 last August specifically for a new switch.

It's intentionally not called an upgraded switch or switch pro because they want to and get to stop supporting Switch 1 for every new title released.

That does make sense. As it stands today, it feels the same as the ‘new’ 3ds xl back in the day.

As I said, I’m reasonable. I WAS going to buy this day one. They flopped the launch so we will see what happens over the next year.

Congrats!
You convinced me to add him to my ignore list! Oh, Happy days!

Another new troll here? Or new avatar. Don’t recognize the user.

Because you’re just here to complain.

They could release a new Zelda game that’s switch 2 only and you’d just say “I heard that they had a new Zelda ready for the switch 1 but decided to hold off so they’d have a Zelda game for the switch 2 release window.”

If they released it for the switch 1 with a switch 2 upgrade, you’d say “see? No new switch 2 games. Switch 2 is just a switch pro!”

You and Freeze Time are sad.

Now you’re attacking others, which is harassment.

Like I said earlier, I sold a PS5 literally for a switch 2. When the switch 2 was announced, I thought ‘meh’.

OLED screen, limited edition consoles, more games are my ‘demands’.

nintendo messed up this launch.

Can you name one mainstream console that had a limited edition variant at launch? I'll wait.

I’ll edit my post and add ‘launch’ or ‘1st’ edition if you prefer. OLED screen and more games is the main deal breaker. I’m not buying a console when the company made parts of it worse than its predecessor.

Did anyone with CAG/Wario64 superpowers who wanted a Switch 2 not get one yet? It feels like most were able to get one eventually which is cool to see at least.

Harrassment? You sound super soft.

You sold a ps5 before an announcement was made? That sounds like a you problem.

I think in the US it was just 3 colors at launch, could be misremembering though. But none of those were considered "limited". Switch 1 also released with black and neon blue/red joy con colors, but again none limited.
Glacier pearl and indigo I'm guessing. Might have been 4 as I vaguely remember gray/whiteish.

That was the color I got and still have. Picked it up along with F zero at or near launch. I was a sucker and let the Best Buy cashier talk me into an extended warranty. Never again.
The only warranty I ever got was the square trade one for my vita and they did excellent care with replacing my battery. If I could I'd have continued to get warranty subs for that.

According to Wario64, Target had Switch 2 back in stock around 12 pm PST and according to their app/website, it's in stock at 6 Targets within 50 miles of me so you should check your area if you want one.

That’s awesome! I got the glacier GBA for Christmas 2001 with Wario Land 4. I remember seeing the white one a few months later at school and loving the color.

I got the Product Replacement Plan (PRP) on my DS. Used the gift card from it to get a PSP a few months later. Right before the warranty was up I used the warranty again and got a 30gb 5.5 gen iPod. The Product Service Plan sucked hard and I got finessed once on a TV that had issues. They pushed those warranties hard back then.
