I had to post this, I mentioned I found Gyromite mint in the box for $3? Well I couldn't really use it so I put it up on ebay....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120300965433&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DSelling

I think I made my money back lol. I didn't know it was that fucking rare!
It's only a 1 on Digit Press' site, so either there's quite a few bidders who are just messing with ya, Scrubsy, or there's a really diehard collector out there who REALLY wants that game. I'm hoping it's the latter and not just a bunch of jerkoffs.

Cart only it's a 1, there's a couple versions, one of those being the game in just a regular small box, and then there's the version with all the pieces with it which is pretty damn hard to find. No one's messing with your auction, those are legitimate bids.

I don't even remember that Gyromite bundle, when I first read your post I though that you might have actually got R.O.B. and called him Gyromite mistakenly. It's hard enough to find R.O.B. with all of his parts in the wild and I could only imagine how much less likely you'd be to find this bundle you found :)

My only find for the whole weekend was an N64 w/ Diddy Kong Racing, all hookups, and 2 good controllers for $5. They were asking $10, and I figured they were going to want to stay there, but they about leaped at the 5. I judged them and paid the price; I should have CIF $3.

I had a good day.

Church Rummage sale
$5 Phonic BKX8800
$5 Roland Sound Canvas SC-88

I'm not sure what the Phonic goes for, but it looks like I could get at least $100 for the Roland on ebay. Now I just figure out how to test them before I sell them. I don't really know what the Roland does. I think the cables on the top of the Roland might actually go with the Phonic.

2 big neighborhood sales
$1 Farscape soundtrack
$1 Enterprise soundtrack
$3 GTA: Vice City soundtrack
$2 Tetris
$1 N64 controller
$1 N64 controller

I'm a sucker for the soundtracks, so that's why I got those. I haven't decided if I'll keep the GTA soundtrack. I spent more on that tetris than I should of. Don't know why I didn't try to talk the lady down. I also forgot the DS can't play it. I did get some official N64 controllers from her though. They look like they're in good condition. Now I can do 4 player Goldeneye again.

I wonder if I should go back for an old style ps2 for $10. It was opened and was told that it had some repair work done by McVans. I'm wondering if it is worth risking for something I just want to mod for imports? I already have one broken ps2 that needs a new laser. I could try to talk them down.
actually, the cables are to connect the two. the Sound Canvas is a MIDI sound/tone module. basically, you connect it to a MIDI keyboard/controller or a sequencer, and play sounds from it: piano, bass, saxophone, strings, etc... back in the 90s, when i was first getting into making electronic/industrial music, the Sound Canvas was pretty hot. they're way outdated features-wise nowadays, but the sounds are still really nice, and they hold their own for the most part. that thing even has 808/909 drumkits and at least a couple 303-style synths. whether or not those mean anything to you, you've definitely heard all three ad nauseam, (especially in video games!!).

the 1/4" cables connect from the outputs of the SC88 into the inputs on the Phonic mixer and then out to either some sort of audio recording device, a house PA (for live performance), or just a couple of speakers for monitoring/listening. that strip on the mixer that says PC88? that's a Kurzweil PC88 synthesizer/midi controller ("keyboard" in lay-terms), which likely was used to play the sounds contained within the Sound Canvas, as well as its own internal sounds, all of which were sent to the Phonic and out to some speakers.

some dude from the 90s breakin' down (or upgrading) his old home studio, likely. anyway, there you have more than you ever wanted to know about that stuff, from your resident synth-geek, allyourblood. ;)

Thanks for all that. I really doubt I'm going to get into that so, I'm planning on selling them. Do you think I should sell them together or individually on ebay? I'm wondering if I can get enough from these to buy a PSP.

i would sell them individually. musicians are an intensely exacting lot: anyone who wants the Phonic likely doesn't want the Roland, and vice-versa. you'll definitely make more money by selling them separate. also consider Craigslist, as there are certainly people local to you that would be interested, and this would save you the hassle of shipping and fees. you might take a bit of a loss selling on CL, but the convenience might be worth it.

good luck!

Not much today but here are my finds anyway. Sorry about the blurry pictures.

xo04cl.jpg

Captain Muthaf'n N! Danish dub nonetheless. I'm so excited!
Been a huge Sierra fan since childhood so the SQ6 was a nice surprise.

And the very best find today was this...
wunlat.jpg

A Danish Mario & Luigi tape! :hot::hot::hot:

Oh, and the price tags are the original retail stickers and not even close to what I paid

Today was total crap, I went to all the sales in town and found nothing, the last sale I went to I saw the local Flea-Market Lady, she was buying some games and talking to the homeowner about how she wouldnt be in Church tomorrow. So i said hey, are you going to be selling games at the flea market agian tomorrow? she said yes, and her church friends made some rude comments to her about selling their games for more than she bought them for. That made my day much better.

agreed, today was absolute crap.

then again, in our state, we're supposed to get a load of rain/wind from Hannah.

Oh well... until next week!

Today I bought a Ludwig Xylophone with case and practice pads for 5 bucks, a Magellan Handheld GPS 300 for 5 bucks and a TI-83 Plus for 5 bucks! Also a GBA SP without power cord and a DKC3 game for 3 bucks! That's all worth going out for right there. :D

My flea market pisses me off! 85% of the people there are illegal. All the games that come in disks are all copies, and so are all the dvd's. Then there were like 3 N64's in maybe, maybe good condition, and they wanted $25 for a console and 1 controller. Yea so that kinda made me mad and I think I'll just stick to Craiglist where responsible adults sell things, and you can see if they work before you buy them.

Crap today, not raining but cloudy, lots of advertised sales just weren't there. Grabbed a PS1 memory card, PS2 memory card, and Madden 64 for $2 at one sale, they said they had more earlier that I missed. But on the plus side, Madden 64 was missing from my collection (I'm trying to get them all), and I needed a PS1 memory card to sell with the system I got last week. But still, meh.

A house 3 blocks away from where I live was having a rummage sale, so i figured I should check it out. Just happened they had quite a bit of games there. First thing I find was a complete copy of FFVII, followed by a 3DO with some games, and lastly a box full of Sega Saturn games. The 3DO was 10$ and the games were 3$ each but they gave me all of it for 5$, and the Saturn games were 3$ a piece and again I got the whole box for 5$. So in the end for a total of 15$ I got.

PS1:
Final Fantasy 7

3DO:
3DO System (Complete)
Wicked18 (Complete)
Slayer (Disc Only)
D (Disc & Manual)
Panzer General (Disc & Manual)

Saturn:
Mr. Bones
Magic Carpet
NBA Action
The Mansion of Hidden Souls
Tomb Raider
NBA Action 98
Herc's Adventure
NHL 97
World Series Baseball 98
Bug!
Daytona USA
Sim City 2000
PGA Tour 97
Virtual Casino
Minnesota Fats Pool Legend
Clockwork Knight
Resident Evil

I went out and didnt see anything worth buying. Passed up a few MMOs for the PC (I hate buying PC games that are opened) and some Xbox games. Alot of people said that they had alot of stuff but their son/daughter was not willing to part with it. Pretty soon Im going to give up and buy a bunch of stuff off Amazon.

I did find alot of CDs though so I didnt come home empty handed.

Hot Shots Golf 3 (Complete, GH) - $1

A buck was the asking price, Hot Shots was the only Playstation 2 game I saw at the sale and probably the only one they had, I got to the sale about 15-20 minutes after it started so I'm thinking they might have had a few more but something decent like Hot Shots Golf most likely wouldn't have been the only game left behind for a buck if they did have more PS2 games that somebody else picked up.

It was nice to see a PS2 game at a yardsale around here not marked at $5 like 90ish% of the PS2 games I see, with sports games being the only thing that people may have in the mix cheaper a lot of times. Just yesterday I saw a few PS2 games at a sale marked $5 each one being GTA III and one being THPS3 and I was thinking how funny it is has most people around here probably figure $5 is a good price per a PS2 game at a yardsale not realizing that a lot of PS2 games are really only worth about $5 roughly (arguably less) and not really a yardsale bargin at that price.

Looks like there was a pall across the yard sale nation this weekend. Picked up a fat PS2 with no controllers for $5. Got begged into buying Rapala Tournament Fishing (Wii) for $10 by my daughter. Lastly picked up a new Phillips body grooming electric razor. Gonna get my invisible inch back! Too much info, sorry. Hopefully next week will be better.

today's stuff:

DVD Evil Dead II, $1

PSX MyMyBox (?) dance mat, $2

NES Zoda's Revenge: Star Tropics II, complete, $5

NES Bubble Bobble, cart only, $1

2 loose Ultimate Muscle 15-figure packs
1 complete 12pk case (14 packs in all), $12

Nintendo Super Famicom w/2 controllers, original power suppy & AV cables,
Super Donkey Kong 2, Super Mario Collection, Parodius, and Super Bomberman 3 (all cart only), all for $42

Sega Genesis Air Diver, Rocket Knight Adventures, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, Burning Force, Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf, Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure, Operation Europe: Path to Victory 1939-45 (all cart only), Liberty or Death (complete, w/map)

Sega CD Avanced Dungeons & Dragons: Eye of the Beholder (complete), Dracula Unleashed (complete), and Star Wars: Rebel Assault (incomplete -- see below), all for $11

Xbox 360 official component cable (loose binding), $2

Hasbro Stikfas Beta Female Warrior with Dragon(new but unsealed box), $3

total: $79

yeah, i know, i spent a lot. it was all the Super Famicom's fault: i just couldn't help but buy it. and yes, i do think it was a little pricey (though the price was haggled down a measly 3 dollars, from $45), but to be honest, this was the first one i've ever seen "in the wild", and the 4 games it came with were such great titles that i couldn't resist. the only downside?

this:

a small inch (or so) sized missing piece that chipped off at some point. even so, everything works great, and is in really great condition, aside from that chipped piece. Parodius is really fun, and noting all the differences in Super Mario Collection (aka "All Stars") was neat. i'm happy to add this little group to my collection. i already have some Super Fami titles which i had previously been playing on my SNES, but now i can play them on their original system.

oh, and the Genesis/Sega CD stuff: okay, so, nothing too amazing right? when i picked up the CD games, the guy selling said that the Star Wars disc was missing and there was a different game inside... i open the case and find...

this:

he tells me he's sorry that the wrong game is in there. i smile and say, "aw, that's okay, i'll still take it." each of the games was a dollar, and i didn't bother haggling. that was plenty cheap for me. the only downside to Shining Force is that the disc is immaculate. i mean, spotless, scratch-free, factory-fresh perfection, which makes it extra sad that the case is MIA. oh well. still worth a buck any day!

not a bad day in all.

now this is a question for everyone.

everyone who posts SNES/Saturns/Retro Systems/etc, etc... do you find all these at garage sales?

I've been going every week for like 2 months now and there was ONE instance that the guy told me he sold an SNES for $15, 5 minutes before I got there.

I've NEVER seen any of this awesome, retro, cheap stuff that everyone seems to be finding...

do you guys have some kind of secret strategy or something?? :p

That's still quite a good deal! Super Mario Collection alone goes for about $40 in many shops here in Japan!

wow! here in the States, Super Mario All-Stars is one of the most common SNES titles i ever come across. i mean, i see literally dozens of copies each year when i'm yard-saling, rivaled in frequency only by Super Mario World and Madden titles.

was it not a big seller when it came out in Japan? how could such a prominent title command such a high price nowadays, i wonder?

also, somewhat related, after unraveling the controllers to play-test the Super Fami, i noticed just how short the cords are! they really can't be any longer than 4'. if i recall, my Sharp Twin Famicom also has ridiculously short controller cables. i wonder if in Japan it's more common to either a) have the console sitting out far away from the television, or b) sit very close to the television. my wife and i were struggling to make the system reach far enough out for us to sit on the couch! by the way, we failed. what sucks about the Twin Famicom (and maybe the regular Fami as well?) is that the controllers are hard-wired into the system, so no extension cables for you!

I can easily sell mario all stars for $30 here even though its common as shit, so that's not a huge difference.

And hopefully I'll find some good shit at the swap meet tomorrow. My friend wants me to get him a DC for cheap.

It depends on your area. My area is pretty dry of video game stuff. I have had a hard time finding any game stuff at all. I might have a lot of competitors. I'm also thinking the area might just have been picked clean of most of the older stuff. Finding any old stuff is a surprise. I would like to find some more saturn stuff, but I've only seen that stuff two or three times at garage sales over the last few years.

where's "here"? Arizona? 'cause on Ebay, it goes for 10-20 dollars or so. i pass these up for a buck all the time, but i suppose if i can turn them out for an average of 10-15 dollars, i may as well grab them as i see them to sell online.

i have a job that pays handsomely, so anything sold on ebay is just extra "fun money". i like making money fine, but beyond my everyday job, it had better be either fun or easy to do, otherwise my free time is far more valuable.

Yeah, here I meant Arizona.

Prices on retro games are insane. For example, I just sold my copies of MegaMan X and Super Metroid for $45 total off of CL.

I sold a copy of Battletoads for $15. Mario RPG for $60.

So basically, buy retro games whereever, then come sell them to people in any city with a Bookman's.

And no luck at the swap meet today. The only things I saw were some overpriced XBOX games and a $35 N64. >_
what.

man, i'm in the wrong state.
Its fucking insane. XD

I listed it at $75, get lots of lowball offers for like 30, then about 3 days later someone says 60 and I shit myself.

I can't wait til I go back to NYC in a few months. I'm gonna buy so many games and sell them here.

i actually got some awesome non-gaming stuff, but here's the only on-topic item i found today:

PS3 Sony Playstation 3 SIXAXIS controller, $2

the picture looks funny; i just realized that PS3 contollers are see-thru (?!). if you can't tell, i don't yet own a PS3, but i've been mulling over buying one for several weeks. looks like i have a good excuse to pick one up now.

this came from a sale run by a dad and his 7 or 8-year old son. seeing it from a distance, i almost left the controller 'cause it looked like a regular Dual Shock 2, but i knew i should always check, and was glad when i did and found it was indeed a SIXAXIS. having never held one, i thought it must surely be missing its internal battery -- this thing was way too light!

i asked the dad how much he wanted, but he waved me off and pointed to his son. i shrugged, and asked the kid: he held up a couple fingers and said "two". now if it was anyone but a kid, or if the kid seemed like a brat, i would've haggled the price down to a buck, but i thought that was a really nice price, and the kid seemed really nice as well, so i forked over the two dollars and asked if he had any more, or any games for sale. he said no. i hefted the controller once more and said, "and it still works?", to which he replied, "yes". walking off to my car, i fiddled with all the buttons and sticks, and sure enough, as i was turning it over in my hands, i saw the red LEDs on the back of the controller light up! it still had a charge.

now all i need is a PS3.

I found a PS2 system (loose, no cords) for 4$ over the weekend (fat model). The bad news is its broken, the good news is its probably worth more than 4$ even if its broken. I've also had a lot of fun tinkering with it so far. It also came with a N64 game, Mickey's Speedway.

You NEVER see consoles this cheap in my area, especially newer ones, everyone wants 50$ for their PS2 and its probably in just as bad of condition as this one I have is. It was really marked 10$ but they had a 50% off everything sale and then of course I had the nerve to CIF it for 4$ including the N64 game.
i have a job that pays handsomely, so anything sold on ebay is just extra "fun money". i like making money fine, but beyond my everyday job, it had better be either fun or easy to do, otherwise my free time is far more valuable.
Doesn't everyone on the internet have a job that pays handsomely?
Doesn't everyone on the internet have a job that pays handsomely?
i have no idea -- i'm not in the habit of asking. i wouldn't have even mentioned it, but someone thought i might not like making money, which isn't true. i very much enjoy making money, and wanted it clear that i make a comfortable amount, without selling used video games.

if it helps, i'll concede that i have had 2 jobs in the past that didn't pay handsomely.

Went out yard saling among other things yesterday, didn't find all that much, but it wasn't a horrible day:

First Sale: All they had in the way of video games was a copy of Assassins Creed for PS3 w/ Guide marked at $20. She said she'd go down to $15, but wouldn't go down to $10 as it was her son's. Passed on that, but did pick up the following:
Aug. '08 OPM - $0.25
Megadeth - So Far, So Good, So What! - $0.75 (Opened it up and also found a copy of Youthanasia in the case.)

Second Sale: This sale was just a bunch of over-priced, sealed PC games. No really, that's all they had, which I found weird for a yard sale.

Goodwill (Too lazy to make another post in the Thrift Store thread. >_>)
WeaponLord (GEN) - Cart Only - $1.30
Shadowman (N64) - Cart Only - $1.30
Star Wars Ep. 1 Racer (N64) - Complete - $1.30

Third Sale:
This sale looked like CRAP, but I managed to find something decent.
Baseball Stars (NES) - Cart Only - $0.50 (IAP was $1.00, asked if they'd take $0.50)

Fourth Sale:
This sale looked pretty bad to begin with too, but it turned out to be pretty good when I found this box:
Frog Bog (INTV) - Complete
NFL Football (INTV) - Complete
Space Armada (INTV) - Complete
Space Spartans (INTV) - Complete
B-17 Bomber (INTV) - Complete
Nova Blast (INTV) - Complete
Burgertime (INTV) - Complete
Sub Hunt (INTV) - Complete
Night Stalker (INTV) - Cart Only
Intellivoice Module - Complete
Timex Sinclair 1000 (No cords)
Sinclair 16k RAM Module - Complete
3 Cassette Programs for the Sinclair
Radioshack Pong Machine
Lotsa Paperwork
$10

Had a make offer sign on it, offered $10 because I thought it might come with an Intellivision, unfortunately it didn't, but it still wasn't a bad deal.

Total Spent: $15.40

I've made comments of this sort plenty of times, and I've never been "flamed off the message boards".

Who was I trying to make like me? If anything, that comment would make people NOT like me. Seriously, I was making a snide remark just for the simple fact that I couldn't believe anyone would turn down Mario All-Stars for 1.00 when it could be resold for 15 times what you paid for it.
