Official 2008 Yard Sale Thread
That's what a lot of people said about games before they got reprinted by GameQuestDirect.

Obviously there is a difference between those games and this one, but you get to the point of being greedy and just getting what you can get. If I had a $500-$1000 cartridge sitting in my hand that I would never even use, I would be gone of it very very quickly. Why? You never know what will happen as soon as tomorrow.
I'd have to concur with this. I've got a pristine Suikoden II sitting here, and it will be for as long as possible. Why? Its supposed to be an amazing game and I have every intention of playing it.

If it were a game simply known for its rarity, and not gameplay of any kind, and worth enough that selling it would cover car insurance for the year, a big screen TV (or new console with a large game library), or paying off an entire credit card/big chunk of student loans...it would be gone in a second.

True, I would probably sell it. I guess I did sell my $4 copy of Valkyrie profile last year just because it was worth $100

On the flip side...I had 10 copies of FF7 that I sold on amazon for ~100 each. I sold my last one a few weeks ago for $250. I wish I would have waited to sell them, but I figured it would be reprinted or rereleased as a few game publications suggested.

I didn't get a chance to do much yard sailing over the weekend as I went to visit a freind out of town. However I did go to a sale Friday on my lunch. Here's the story.

This was a sale I was hoping to get to so I took my luch break to check it out on Friday. I loked around and found some decent games that I had but didn't want to rebuy. I then found some other misc stuff that caught my attention. I finally picked up the following:

HUGE Pikachu Pillow
Prima's Pokemon Red and Blue Strat Guide
Nintendo DS Case
Spice Orange GC controller
Some misc DS game holders
Fish Tycoon (DS Complete)

After looking for a while longer I then asked what was the price for everthing. Individually it came out to $24. I tried to CIF $15 but finally $17 was agreed upon.

As for great finds that you all have been talking about, I did have a couple earlier his year but had a stellar year last year for this area. Check my flickr account for pics and stories.

Ya, FFVII is one of those games that you know you sell and find another within a few months. I jsut started sellign on amazon a few weeks ago and i listed one in mint condition for $65. it sold in a few days. I should have listed it higher.
Yeah, Pepsi Invaders for the Atari will definitely be reprinted.

//sarcasm
The point has obviously flown way over your head.

Wow....great job Kuros. I'm amazed at seeing Dreamcast games....but Japanese Dreamcast games? Do they work on US Dreamcasts?

This page always gets broken. just a tip for pic posters edit your pics before you post them, I reduce mine to 25% and they take less time to upload and dont break the page.
$8 for Paper Mario? Did you CIF?
I tried to haggle, but the dude was a hardass about it. $8 was his price.

No list for these... too many to list. This was a Craigslist deal.

$100 + 2 copies of Wario Ware (gcn), 1 copy each of Psychonauts (Xbox and PS2) + 1 copy of Zelda Collectors edition. I spent $5 on each game so a total of $125

Got me 209 Playstation games. All complete or sealed. Notables such as Persona 2, DDR Konamix and Disney Mix, Tales of Destiny 2, Capcom vs SNK Pro... and more.

It was at a Boys and Girls club, the woman wanted to get rid of them to make some room. Looks like many were donated to them.

I can't believe a Boys And Girls Club would have Persona 2.
The only thing that came to my mind was, "What? No Final Fantasy VII?"
Eh, I've been finding that a lot lately anyway. So I'm not miffed about it not being in this lot.

Alright, finally got around to putting some pics up. Way later than I had meant to...but here we go.

This is Pepsi Invaders, and I guess someone did slap a fake label on there, I never really noticed it before today. Shows how good my sleuthing skills are. :)

Opened up...

And the chip itself...shitty picture, I know.

I want to sell this bugger, but it's a once in a lifetime thing....I'm just gonna hold onto it until my ideas become clear, without a doubt.

^ NICE!! I would recomend emailing teh mod on Gamesniped.com so they can list it under thier list of rare games that are currently being auctioned off.

You didn't notice that the catridge said "Pepsi Invaders" until TODAY??

Either way, kudos on the find! :D

Haha, I know right? I'm super slow.

I'm pretty sure that there are online tutorials for replacing the labels on cartridges if you can find a hi-res scan of the original...I know I've seen one for N64 games; I imagine that the technique would be similar for Atari games, but I imagine that finding a hi-res image of a label for a cartridge released 30 years ago with a print run of 125 would be far more difficult.

I have a couple stories from yesterday

I had some time today after work to kill so I went to Goodwill to look around. I am lucky I did. I walked by this and then stopped after I processed what it was. I had found:

Nintendo Popeye Tabletop Game and Watch

I paid the $5 that was marked on it and it works great.

I stopped in on a little thrift store I had neglected for quite some time. I started snooping around when I came across a came case. I pulled some games out of it and then kept walking. I then found a pretty cool VHS tape. So This is what I had found:

Contra Hard Corps (Genesis Complete)
Star Wars: Rebel Assault (Sega CD Complete)
Sega Saturn Multigame pack that included Night into Dreams Sampler, Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA, and the Bootleg Sampler CD (Sega Saturn Complete)
Fatal Fury VHS

I was unable to haggle at the store but I got all these for $9

A Gameshark wll let you play imports.
Or you could just burn a Utopia Boot Disc.
True, I forgot about the old Utopia Boot Disk.

Picked up Space Jam PS1 complete MINT for .25
Ghost recon PS2 for 1.50 complete MINT wanted $3
Non-games:
Picked up Star Wars new figures and some GI JOES for $4 with the millenium falcon
Got about $700 worth of beanie babies for $9 (Lucky with 21 dots was probably the best of the bunch). Picked up some records, bakelite utensils, vintage pyrex, Captain America cartoon VHS, some CDs, etc.

"Just missed" xbox games for .50 each and a playstation 1.
Passed on: NES with 10 games $75, N64 with 3 games $50, N64 with 5 games $35 (It did have a Yoshi's story and mario cart...Those are decent ones right?) I think I could go back and still get it. She may deal with me...

I've sold Mario Kart 64 for $20 on numerous occasions.

Today I went to a whole whopping two sales. The first one was balls, and they packed all the games because they were moving. I then went to another sale, which had overpriced crap, but I found a Nintendogs DS holder and book for .25 each. Can't wait until tommorow when all the good stuff is up for sale.

Now that the yardsale season is in full swing, check out Dom & Liz's Visual Route Planner!

The VRP was created to solve a problem that has afflicted us for years. Every week, we needed to plan out a route, and find driving directions between 30-60 unique addresses. This process would often take hours to complete, and after doing it for so long, we figured that there had to be a better way. Now, with the VRP, we can complete this process in minutes!

The VRP has proven extremely helpful so far in the 2008 season!

I used that a couple of times, its a nice change of pace from Google Maps.

But the other day I said screw it, and threw down $100 for a GPS (Magellan 3200, $130 refurb on buy.com - $10 GCO - $20 rebate). Gas ain't cheap, and time is money. Wrong turns and misread directions are a big expense with gas at $4 a gallon and a few minutes the difference between snagging or just missing an amazing deal.

I'm sure this will have paid for itself by midsummer.
