Official 2011-2012 NBA Season thread

You missed the 3rd quarter where Lebron did his trademark barrel into everyone draw minimal contact gets rewarded with and 1 while earlier in the same sequence barbossa drives to the paint makes contact with about 2 players in the restricted area and nada, shit was too hilarious
You know, it just isn't fun to watch the Heat play. Their offense consists of two guys having permission to blast their way into the lane whenever they feel like it. It's not basketball; it's bowling.
this was the 3rd quarter pretty much

Yeah, as I've said before, I don't like players having that kind of power.

That said, I'm not sorry to see Van Gundy and his shitty offensive scheme gone. Smith had made some bad trades in recent years as well so I'm not too sad to see him go either.

But that should have been solely an ownership decision and not one influenced so strongly by a superstar player.

The problem isnt that the players have that kind of powers...its the the owners are pussies.

You should have had the balls to simply trade him when you thought he was out living his time there....but nooooo you wanted the play the game. Although SVG should be fired he is a horrid coach. Otis Smith though was a toss up.

The problem was Howard never stuck to his trade demands. As exemplified by him signing the waiver of his opt out clause.

If he'd stuck to his guns they would have traded him as they told him he either signed that or he was getting traded.

But yes, they should have probably just traded him as they don't have the cap room to make any big splashes in free agency most likely, so they'll probably go through the same thing next year despite having a new coach and GM coming in.

We can't do crap for years due to all those signings.
- Hedo until 14/15 (he will pick up his option since he will never get that money again)
- Big Baby until he retires... yes I am joking
- JRich until 15/16 (he will pick up his option since he will be an old guy at that point)
- Duhon until 14/15... ouch
- QRich until 14/15 (he will pick up his option since he can't command any money after this)

This doesn't include that if Howard re-signs what he will take, that Redick will command money in 13/14, and whatever they do with Anderson (who should command some money this summer).

Looks like we are stuck with this until 14/15. That is a long way off.

Hedo is the biggest problem as he's old and going to continue to decline. The others you list I think can at least be solid contributors throughout their contracts.

Don't we still owe Arenas money as well for buying out his deal? Not sure if that counts toward the cap/luxury tax if so.

Most teams line up like bowling Pins to guard the paint. Its not bowling without the pins. Miami is not a jump shooting team like OKC so they have to drive and attack the basket.
If I ever see Mike Brown, I am gonna slap the stupid outta him
You better slap him tonight because if the lakers lose 4-1 it'll be the last time you see Mike Brown ( aka Mr. Potato head).

No it won't be. He isn't getting fired after a second round exit, because he is coaching a team with a new offensive and defensive scheme that has had no time to practice. Stop listening to what ESPN says all the time. They are the National Enquirer of the sports world, drumming up fake controversies and opinions all the time to drive up ratings.

Never thought Boston/philly would be the best officiated game and most entertaining. No flops/no acting no travels etc. Change channel see Artest completely rejecting sefablosha gets called a flagrant 1 lmao and immediately changed the channel. Congrats Spurs even though the teams you faced were meh you certainly deserved and earned everything without help unlike a certain overrated other team you'll be facing.

Why would you fire a coach after one season anyway? The last Lakers coach to not make the playoffs lasted at least 2 years.

Congrats to the Thunder though. You have your work cut out for you.

Cant believe it took this long for Van Gundy/Otis to go.
Howard is as good as gone no way hes dealing with new coaching/gm decisions etc

That's my own opinion which I didn't get from espn. I didn't think that mike brown was a good fit for the lakers when he got there. He'll probably get a pass because of the shortened season, but even with a full season, I don't think it'll be any better. This was not the season to try and implement new defensive and offensive schemes...teams barely had a chance to practice.
Then they. Got rid of Fisher, bad decision; but even worse he goes to OKC. (although that decision may not be on mike brown). Instead of Blake taking that 3 pointer to win the game it should have been Fisher.....

Buyers Remorse..... I think that when they got mike brown he was the best option at that time....not to say he's a bad coach....I dont believe he's a fit for the lakers. [IMHO]

They picked him specifically because they wanted a new scheme. If they wanted the same scheme they would have stuck with the triangle and promoted Brian Shaw.

Also this wasn't just a management decision. The team was starting to bitch about the triangle. They had a team with no bench and they didn't get any better since last season. Anyone who thought this team was going to make a deep run wasn't paying attention to how many minutes Kobe had been playing and his terrible stats.

I fucking hate Psycho T. But love Granger, West, Hibbert, Collison, The Brazilian Blur.

I am neutral about the Heat beacuse it contains a half a dozen players that I have always loved, White Chocolate Mike Miller, UD40, J. Anthony, Shane Battier, J. Howard. Those are all hustle guys who have really earned their spots in the NBA.

There are some great players to cheer for in this series.

Jason Williams was replace by Mike Miller.

Although it reminds me of the black jason williams who broke half his body in a cycle accident that ruined his career.

I'm feeling sorry ahead of time for all the shit Boston is gonna deal with, advanced is gonna be on suicide watch. I can picture Kg with 3 fouls in the 1st q every game from all the flopping his screens are gonna cause.

Come on now, the C's are fairly shitty also. They flop with the best of them, KG hasnt figured out how to set a legal screen in 10 years, The Truth flies about like he has been shot in the chest every jump shot.

Its going to be a pretty shitty series because both teams are the leagues BFFs

Heat played like they want it. Both OKC and the Heat should fear the Spurs. Spurs have a well rounded team. But we shall see.

Picked the spurs over OKC. But I'm wondering if the spurs can keep up with OKC's youth....especially in transition.

What the hell happened to Wade's face? Dude looks deformed.

Just going to put it out there that GH causes your bones to grow, and in areas like your face... well.

I'm not crazy, right? His jaw looks ... not how it used to when he came into the league.

Watching a SportsCenter commercial with Wade in it is what led me to wonder about this. That commercial's got to be at least 5 years old, and his face just... didn't look like it does in the pic I posted. Maybe he just wears his weight strangely, I dunno.

You don't think I'm already on suicide watch?!?! Thanks for the credit!

This Sixers series is giving me headaches. If Bosh is out for the next round, I'm not too worried about our chances.

That's two guys! I've never seen Pavlovic or Daniels flop! Can't flop from the bench! Fixed it for ya too!

I wouldn't agree with your last statement, but since I'm a diehard Celtics fan, I really can't deny it, with proof, either. I will say June 17th 2010, but hey, that's just one game, right?

I hope the Pacers push the Heat to 7 so the Celtics get another day of rest for them old bones. (That's right, KG, I said it. Now go hang 25 and 12 on the Sixers tonight and close them out.)

Edit: These pain meds I'm on right now is making me playful. Gotta love modern medicine and having kidney stones.

There is only really 1 hated guy on the Heat in Bron Bron by everyone dumps on the entire team....C's get the same treatment. 2 floppers means the whole team gets dumped on.

I can't believe that Haslem got suspended for one game. Now Pittaman he got suspended for 3 games, and I know that's appropriate. But Haslem's foul didn't even draw any blood, Hansbrough wasn't injured, he got hit on the arm and was knocked down. The only good thing is that if anyone from the Heat our Pacers try to get physical then the league will probably come down hard on them.

Man, I am always sick to death of looking backwards. Stop trying to hire these people who have retired or are 80 years plus. Sloan, Jackson (the fucking guy just retired) Larry Brown Big Tuna.....let these guys stay gone.

Man sports managements are lazy as hell....

Big LOL to the Orlando Tragic for wanting Shaq as their gm lmao if that happens hes shipping Dwight to La since he thinks Bynums better, also big lol to all idiots like Screaming A and Skip that think Haslem shouldnt have been and that Tylers was more flagrant than Haslem just cause D-softade was bleeding. Get the fuck outta here.

Anybody who's bitching about the suspension situation never played basketball. Hansbrough's foul was an excessively hard play on the ball. Haslam made zero attempt to make a play on the ball. He was clearly trying to get revenge on Hansbrough for the earlier foul.

Considering Shaq for GM is absurd.

Someone on the NBA show the other night was saying they'd make a push to get Doc Rivers back as coach and GM, since he still lives in Orlando in the off season etc. Would be great, but can't see it with the big extension he just signed with the Celtics last year.

I'm bitching about it.. because Tyler's foul on Wade was worse. Regardless of if Haslem was going for the ball, or whatever, he only hit Tyler on the ARM... while going up for a shot.

In the end.. it was worth it... I'm glad Haslem fould him, and the one game suspension was pretty much a slap on the wrists. I just find it funny how the Pacers are whinning about tough fouls, when they were the ones that took it to that level. After tonight, the series will be over anyway.

Dexter Pittman... that's a fould worth a suspension... big difference between what Haslem did and what Dexter did. But I didn't hear anyone screaming for Dex to be suspended, everyone screaming for Haslem thinking it's going to help the Pacers win...

He hit him on the arm? What game were you watching? He came down hard on his upper body while making no play on the ball. That's a good way to have someone blow out an ankle or knee. If anything Heat fans should be annoyed at Haslem for being so stupid about it. Not only does he go after Hansbrough so soon, but he made it way too obvious. Anyone with a half a brain knows you get him later in the game, and you go for the ball when you knock him on his ass.

All I see is Haslem jumping up hitting Tyler on the arm / Shoulder. :)45) On second look, how did Tyler fall... looks to me like he flopped, and the must fans bought it, and the NBA bought it, hook, line, and sinker.

vs

this - looks bout the same to me. Except one resulted in an injury while the other one didn't.

Last time I checked, the side of the face and shoulder area was not that of an arm. Basically, it was a flagrant foul and it was worthy of a suspension, but so where the other fouls. I could care less about who wins or loses (my team, the Mavs, are already at home chillin' out) but I'm really pulling for a Pacers-Sixers Eastern Finals. Tired of seein' the same old faces.

I suppose none of it matters, though, because both SA and OKC are better and far more consistent teams than any of the four left in the Eastern Conference.

I'm pretty sure he's just trolling at this point, nobody's that ignorant.... or are they? ;)

BTW, I thought it was funny that Haslem hacked Hansbro, turned around and made a beeline straight for the bench.

Meh all around, its what happens when the refs botch calls all the time. THs was a flagrant maybe a 1 game ban because to me it was clear that he was intentional going after wade first and the ball just happened to be there. Look at the replay...TH is already in the air swiping downward at wade before wade even left the ground. Either you mistimed that jump or you wanted to go for a over the top hard foul. I am gonna guess wanted to go for an hard foul. UD should have also been suspended because he was going after TH.

They both should have got a 1 game ban for it because both were intentional going after player. I do praise UD for protecting his team mate...a little bit of old school basketball in nice. The entire thing isnt as big of a deal as people are trying to make it.

Plus it serves the Pacers right since they were the ones who apparently wanted to fight instead of play basketball.

Pittman and Lester.....who gives a shit both of them are pointless.
