I work in a Best Buy, perhaps I can help.

Clearances at Best Buy are on a store-by-store basis. What doesn't sell in that particular store may eventually be put on clearance, but it is pretty YMMV. It isn't at all a chain-wide thing like Target.

Hey guys, I just have a quick question. I'm sorry if this has already been asked/answered, I tried searching the forum and all I get is a white page instead of the results.

Anyway, I wanted to do a pricematch at Best Buy and was just curious how you guys do it. Do you get the game and then go ask if they will pricematch it? Do you ask first, then get the game? Do you go to customer service to ask, just ask at the register, etc?

I know you can kind of get a different answer each time, so I just want to see what the experts have done so I have the best chance.

Thanks!
Las time I did a price match at Best Buy was a few weeks ago. I wanted to buy a router, and saw the router at Target $50 cheaper. I wanted to buy the router at Best Buy because I wanted to use my Reward Zone card and a $10 Gift Card I had.

The router was not in Target's weekly ad. So, I went to Target and took a picture of the price with my phone, and I also went to Customer Service with the router and told them if they could print me the price in a receipt or something. They just wrote the price in an empty paper receipt, with a Target stamp on it.

I went to Best Buy (just a few blocks from Target) and went to Customer Service and asked for a Price Match. If they ask you for a reason why you want to buy the item at Best Buy instead of the other store, tell them that you want to use your Reward Zone card. Don't tell them that the other store is out of stock, because they won't do the price match.

I would always talk to the sales associate if possible, but definitely check with them before purchasing the item. If you wait until after the fact they might try to give you a bunch of BS, or they might think you are trying to scam them. Remember that Best Buy even pricematches Amazon, as long as it's Amazon selling the product and not an individual selling through them. I hope this was helpful.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try and give it a try tonight. I price matched my 360 there last year and didn't have any problems doing it. But I happened to find a manager who was really great and told me to get the system and anything else and tell the cashier what he said and just to have them call him if there was any problems. I don't think I can get that lucky twice so I just wanted to go with a few pointers :D

@MadForMadden, I checked at a Best Buy a few months to see if they would price match something from Amazon and they told me they didn't price match anything from Amazon. But, then again I don't think he really wanted to deal with me... which is yet another reason why I wanted to check with you guys first :D

Thanks again for the tips!

Finally found a clearanced Xbox 360 Controller Pack at the Tustin, CA store, they have 7 left @ $24.99

Just go into any Best Buy and have them check SKU: 9611532 and it will list all the stores/inventory/current price, so you can find out which stores around you (if any) have them clearanced. Much easier than calling stores, especially since they usually don't pick up the phone.

Saw someone asking about price matching at Best Buy and getting good answers. I have a similar question, but the thing i want price matched is spend $125 on PS move get a $25 gift card from toys r us. How is price matching gift cards? Ive heard best buys terms/conditions say they will also do this, but it usually is a pain and maybe not even worth trying. I called one place and they said no already.

I price matched my 360 last year with a $50 giftcard and they didn't even question it. I just took the ad in and the manager looked at it and said he would do it. He never called the store to see if they had them or anything. I would think that they would have less issue doing this because at least you have to spend the gift card in the store, so they aren't just giving you money back. I know some have said that the store let's them take the money off the total, but I don't know how easy that would be to do.

I would say just go to the customer service desk with the ad/info in hand ( I don't know about your area, but in my area we don't get ads for Toys R Us anymore, so they may have to pull it up online) and ask if they will price match it. When I did my 360 I checked if they had them but didn't take it with me to customer service, this time I took the game so i had it if they could do it. My best advice is to just be nice and also be patient. If they are busy and/have to call the store, it can take some time. If you start getting upset then they won't be as willing to work with you.

I have done two PMs now at Best Buy and went very smoothly. I really think if you are nice to the workers and stuff they will work with you and try harder.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Best Buy in Knoxville, TN (Off the Cedar Bluff Exit):

Band Hero Bundle on clearance for $59.99

Might be worth it just to get the instruments.

Thanks for the tips. Best buys in my area, atleast over the phone were saying they would not price match if it involved getting a gift card. Even though their policy statement online says they should. So i printed it out, circled where it said they price match with gift cards, and took the ad. At first the guy at customer service again said flat out no. But then i gave him the bestbuy policy statement to read, and he let me do the deal. Just took the value of the gift card off of the price. Looked at me like I was trying to scam them. Getting $25 off $125 is not that out there, was totally valid, and in line with their policy; so i dont know exactly what the problem was. But got what I wanted

The 30 minutes i've played move its been alright. Great controller, can tell its a big improvement over Wii, but a bit pricey getting all the components together. Also still not alot of games, and the system is not designed for the controller, so it feels weird using it for menu navigation. If the big releases that can support it, do support it, i'll be happy. Not likely, but I hope it works on PS4 too.

I'm gonna have to start doing the GC PM thing w/ BB when TRU has GC deals. Closest TRU to me is over half an hour away. BB is less than 5 mins away.

Glad everything worked out. I hate it hem employ yes act like you are scamming them when you aren't doing anything wrong... With the policy right there I don't see what the issue was.

I stillh haven't had a chance to try move, though I would like to before I buy it. Ithink it seems interesting, but as it stands now, the price and amount of games that qre out is making me want to wait a little while. I will definitely get it at some point, but I'm just going to use the Wii take care of my motion control gaming for a while ;)

gona check my BB's tomorrow for the clearance TVC.

I have a first gen 360 controller which doesn't want to recharge for w/e reason (but my new 360 S controller does). All the more reason for me to pick up a new black one. or 3.

You saw that too? :p Only 1 of em there and its Xbox 360. No ps3. Sadface.

Rivergate (N. Nashville, TN) has a bunch of God of War III clearanced @ $24.99 each. Even better, they matched TRU's b2g1. They had other clearance games, but nothing caught my eye.

Was at BB today at the customer service desk trying to get a PM done, when a one of the workers brought it to my attention that they were clearancing out some

Western Digital - WDTV Live Plus HD Media Players from $99 down to $49 ... they have some that they just got in and the boxes & specs are identical so if interested you would prolly have to get the mto scan them to find out which ones are on clearance

Here is a link to see em though http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Western...1218208054702&skuId=9945474&st=wdtv&cp=1&lp=1

I ronically today was the first time Ive ever failed at my BB pm'ing GC deals ....they didnt wanna knock the price off MoH directly doing the Kmart $25 deal .... they just wanted to give me a $25 GC instead..... used that same deal on 3 different things lately and done tons of other GC pm'ing and they always knock the GC value off the product .... so it kinda sucked, guess Ill just wait on COD to come out instead cause dont think MoH is worth $60 for me

Sweet, I love my existing Media Player. I might need to find another one at that price.

Best Buy by me has :ps3:Bioshock 2 LE for $35 after the 50% discount. It was up on the clearance rack(formerly the recent CD release rack) up near the front registers the last time I was there.

For what's in the LE it's a pretty good deal at $35, but I can only hope it somehow lasts till they place it on the 75% side of the rack.

I suggest waiting for the Boxxee Box, which comes out in November. It's definitely a bit more expensive, but I think it's gonna blow the WD player out of the water. It has a full QWERTY keyboard on the back of the remote. It may or may not have built-in wifi, but the WD player definitely does not, so you'll have to run an ethernet cord to you entertainment center... :)

Boxee Box has built-in wireless n, so no worries there. $199.99.

But the WDTV Media Players are no slouches. Hack the firmware, throw on a wireless n USB dongle and you're in major business. Definitely worth a look at $49 if you're only streaming your own content. 1080p, MKV support, .flac, too, I believe.

Picked up this Xbox 360 wireless Controller bundle saturday at the Holyoke, MA BB

contoller.jpg

$26.99 but it had an orange sticker on it (20% off)

$21.59+tax there were 2 or 3 left...

also say the castlevania LoS LE with an orange sticker on it....

Has Alan Wake's Collector's Edition hit the clearance mark yet? I've seen it in a few stores but haven't seen the price below the $79. Could the price be out of date?

I might as well stay out of this thread, because the Coon Rapids, MN never has anything good on clearance. (There's probably too many CAGs there)

It had a non-clearance drop to $59.99 on Monday or Tuesday. A bunch of other CEs dropped too, but the only decent one in the bunch was Fable 3 CE, which hit $29.99.

Same, except there were at least 20.

Standalone software. Still a pretty good deal if you manage to find it for that price.

Tony Hawk Ride with Board, $19.99 at Levittown NY.
My son bought the last one we saw for the 360.
There was 1 for Wii and 3-4 for PS3.
I found :pc:Fallout 3 GOTY tagged at $49.99 but rang up as $29.99 (40% off). This was at the Meyerland store.
That's the new MSRP afaik. That's what all the stores around me have it for.
