What are the odds a killer had enough time to play the 360 to get the RRoD? :) Here's to hoping he/she was not a slacker and played nothing but R6:Vegas instead of doing the killing.... ;)

He could have been a hardcore gamer and got a RRoD. In a blind rage of fury, he killed a family member by bludgeoning them to death with the 360, leaving blood/tissue residue on it.

Hey, it could happen! I've heard less believable things.
 
Looks like mine is being shipped back soon....I just got an EMAIL this morning.

We are happy to share with you that your service request is completed and your Xbox console is now ready for return shipment. We will e-mail you again with the shipment tracking information when your Xbox console has been shipped.

Now, it hasn't shipped yet, but I have a NEW SERIAL # now, so they did not FIX mine, but I get a refurb apparently...which is ok, as long as the console does not look like shit with scratches, as I kept mine nice.

That is good news. Mine is a couple days behind yours in the process but I can't get the status thing on Xbox.com to work. Hopefully that means mine will ship early next week.
 
My 2nd 360 died today, the day after I got 300 on HD DVD :(

Should I put a letter in saying I want either the same console fixed or a new one? And what about my fifa 07 that they told me I could have replaced...
 
Been on the phone for 20 minutes and I'm still waiting for a CSR in order to get a coffin.

Edit - Finally ordered my coffin. Only took an entire hour (40 minutes waiting for a CSR and 20 minutes for the ordering process).

I'm going to enclose a personal letter to "Dear MS service technician" begging him to fix my 360 and send that same one back. Doubt it will work but whatever.

hahahaha. my freind found the sticker somewhere and put it on my 360 without even asking and I just left it there. Figured it would be a good way to tell if im getting the same 360 or not.
 
My 360 crapped out while playing GRAW 2 a few months ago. I promptly had it shipped out and had to pay the 130ish repair fee.

The "new" console I got from them then proceeded to give me the RRoD as well. So, i sent it out again.

Got the new console yesterday. Played it for a couple of hours. Got the RRoD. I'm not sure what to do now. I'm pretty frustrated. I'm thinking of maybe selling it on ebay and getting an elite. Or, perhaps I can persuade them to give me a console that is actually new this time.

At least I should be getting my repair fee back, riiiight?
 
When you call 18004myxbox they say 10 to 12 weeks to get the repair fees back and don't bother calling as the reps can't give you any additional information.

I just got notification that my replacement is getting shipped back. They received it on the 13th of July, so I really can't complain about a 2 to 3 week turn around (aside from the fact that it shouldn't have broken in the first place).

Crossing my fingers that they send me a replacement that actually works...
 
i bought xbox premium @ dell 3 days ago and already got 3 RL last night.... Im going to demand for a refund and wait till 65nm 360 becoming available... Im very dissapointed...
 
i'm getting out of the MS console market until they issue a redesign.. much like I did for the PS2 until the slim came out.. I love the 360 games.. but I cannot live in fear of the console breaking everytime I turn it on..

I did the same thing with sticking a enclosed note in the box. I've also called 3 times about making sure that I get MY 360 back. I don't know if this did anygood or not. As of my last phone call I made I was assured that I was going to recieve my original one back.
 
my coffin is on the way. i'm pretty much in the opposite boat as everyone else. i already have a different 360, so i just want any 360 back asap!
 
I recieved my coffin and sent it back already.
They mispelled my name of course and now the microsoft website will not let me fix the information.
Any ideas?
 
My 360 broke. Ive had it since the day it came out. Free repairs now though. Lucky me! But since i cant wait ten seconds i went out and bought a new one. My 360 was great. Until the red ring'o'death hit it.

now that there are free repairs, they are installing the new stuff! i forget what they are putting in it. but i remeber a cooler (not for drinks) and some new hardware. check it out at xbox.com. MS is really stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility for their somewhat faulty consloe. But don't get me wrong i would love the disk tray of an xbox more than a PS3! :booty:

I recieved an e-mail today telling me that my 360 is being shipped backed to me. I went thru some effort in communicating to them how I wanted the same unit back that I originally shipped to them. They assured me that I would get that same one. One a bunch of crap, I now have a differen't serial number, differen't unit being shipped back. They recieved 7/16 - shipped 7/28 so atleast the turn around is a little faster than what we have been hearing.
 
I told you guys a while back that my 360 died...Now, almost a month later...They tell me it's not broken. That makes me so angry! It doesn't screw up until you play a game for 10+ minutes and then it freaks out. EVERY TIME! I told them this. They probably turned it on and back off. This is f-ing ridiculous. I hate MS.
 
It has been over a week since I called M$ to get my coffin for the 3rd time. I just called them back about were in the hell is the coffin and the lady told me they never got around to shipping it out yet. I might as well trade this damn thing in.
 
This may have been answered already, but how long from when they get the coffin you sent them till they update xbox.com on your 360s status.

Mine was the same day they received it. It went from "box shipped to customer" to "device received for repair" or something like that
 
Hmmm, UPS shows them getting mine on friday and it has yet to be updated.
Ill wait till Monday before calling to find out why I guess.
 
I recently sent my 360 in due to constantly reading 360 games as DVDs, no 3RR.. yet. Anyway, it got me thinking, what if you sent in a system due to 3RR that was past the 1 year all-purpose warranty and the system they sent back had other problems, but not 3RR? Would they still fix it for free?
 
My problems started when the power kic ked off for a second and when it came back on, i got RROD, turned it off.. worked fine

Then the problems started - Freezing while playing PGR3, Crackdown, even Sonic the hedgehog.

Then i found if i left the system off for a couple of hours, it would actually work for 30 minutes or so, then start the freezing. The Drive will not open in the vertical position, but will open (after its been off for awhile) in the horizontal position. If its been on for awhile, the drive will not open in the horizontal position and i have to push the tray in after pushing the eject button to get it pop open.

My coffin will arrive 8/1. I just hope its back before my preorders start rolling in.
 
If you order a coffin but decide not to go through with the warranty, do they charge you for shipping the coffin to you? I was going to go through with the warranty but since the 360 is dropping to $350, I'd rather get my $320 in store credit and cough up the extra $30 for a brand new 360.

The problem is you might get a new one, but it might be one without the new heat sink - aka a ticking time bomb.
 
So a friend of mine let me borrow his 360, actually he asked me to hold on to it because he's in the process of moving. I didn't really want to borrow it since there aren't many 360 games that I want to play. All I did with it was download demos, which I barely played, and play SotN.

Then today while I was playing SotN, BOOM, 3RR.

Just thought I'd share.
 
Mine was received in TX on the 18th and they changed the Serial # last night on the service status page. Just glad Im going to have it before Aug.

edit. Hopefully 6th time is the charm.
 
Got an e-mail this morning saying to expect "my console" in 3-5 days.

At this point I don't even care that I am not getting my original back, I just want to play some 360 ;)
 
Well, I turned on my system and the screen went black then next thing I know I got the three red rings. This is funny that this happened just after I purchased a PS3.

Where can you get $320 for it?
 
I called 1-800 xbox again yesterday and talked to a supervisor. He was a pretty cool guy. He sounded like he was from the states and the he knew what he was talking about. I asked him about hooking me up with some free stuff. He offered me a game. Viva, PGR3 or Kameo. He also offered to throw in a controller. So keep pestering these guys, took three calls but I finally got somthing out of them.

What was your complaint?

Can you just ask for a supervisor at any time?
 
damnit my 4 month old xbox just died. I had the xbox360 since launch, and my first system died earlier this year, then now my replacement one just hit the dust 4 months after. I swear the xbox 360 is the biggest piece of shit ever made. At least my friend is letting me borrow his spare core 360 until I can decide what to do with my dead one.

I've tried numerous times this time to get something free....all depends who you talk to. One time I got a free wireless controller, but the recent time, I got nothing.

I should have my 360 tomorrow though...assuming UPS is right.

Also, do they LEAVE the 360 at your door or do you have to sign for it? Not sure if I'll be home or my wife.
