Yes I do and this is the collectors edition thread so talking about collectors editions as investments is a perfecty suitable topic for this thread. If its not, then a moderator can come in and say so. And the fact that you pretend to know anything about me or my level of knowlegde is really laughable at best.

I can name quite a few Collector's or Special Editions that have retained or increased in value, granted not all of them are like that but some are.

At this point you're just embarrassing yourself. Go read the title of the thread. No reselling discussions.

And for the future, when you make a bunch of incorrect statements on an internet discussion board, you're going to get called out. Some people make great money selling collector's items, regardless of your own ineptitude. So just drop it.

Out of all the CE's I have ever purchased or owned, theres only been 1 that I have still yet to open because of its value/rarity, and its the Hyperdimension Rebirth 1 LE. I have never brought one for the purpose of future resale or rarity, but I would not purchase one if it is extremely expensive and overproduced, thats just a recipe for regret.

I think its a fairly valid argument for people to want to buy an LE/CE, open/use it, and hope that it remains somewhat rare and valuable. Not really sure how this ended up going into the world of investments and economics.

I think SgtWiggles put it best as to why we care if a CE is rare vs overproduced. I'm sure majority of people (non scalpers) who shelled out the $270 for the Final Fantasy XV UCE feel the same way. Sure there are some who can care less about future value, even if it means losing 70 to 80% value of what you paid for. If that's the case, not sure why these people are even on CAG.

That's why I don't buy CE's. Final Fantasy XV (not often you wait 10 years for a game, so why not?) and Dragon Quest (just trying to support that franchise in the West) are the only two I have bought in the last 10 years. And I got burned on the Dragon Quest CE. I know many CE's that go for way more than MSRP. That's just the gamble you take. In terms of real video game investment, I am more of a retro video game type of collector.

Thing is once the few clearance sales happen, if you didn't have money then or the system the game was on, the CE goes back to MSRP or even higher. Look at many of the recent Tales CE's: Xillia 1 is back to $130 sealed, Chronicles is $140, and Zesteria is $160 on Amazon once GS sells through their remaining inventory.

The statue comes in two pieces and you have to put it together. It's one of my favorites though based on look. I think $60 is a fair price for it. I paid $80 (BBGCU).

If that's what the collector's edition is going to be, they should at least have some humility and have some fun with the marketing.

The original Assassin's Creed CE gets my vote. A cheap tin case, a tiny figure that looks like it came out of a .50 machine at the grocery store (with the same quality that you would expect from that), a 6-page or so Penny Arcade small comic printed on what feels like the cheapest paper they could find and a "making of" DVD. To add to the suck, it was so bad I avoided the AC2 CE which was actually good & is now expensive.

A close runner up would be the Tron Evolution CE, but I paid $10 for it so I never felt as burned by it.

Ugh my Dark Souls CE seems to be delayed from UPS for some reason. Been stuck in New Jersey and says coming Wednesday despite Amazon saying Tuesday
