I know this is pre-season, but my Redskins are playing like the football equivalent of a turd right now.
 :D

Going to my first game at Paul Brown tonight. Carson Palmer playing (if only for a minute) is just icing on the cake.

Hopefully we won't have any shitheads rushing the field and snatching the ball from Brett Favre after the snap this time.

And, hopefully, taxis are plentiful after the game.

I cannot believe the LIONS anymore. What a horrible game....I cannot see them winning more than 4 games this year. The whole organization needs an overhaul. Coach Rod needs to play the BEST players. I know C-Rog and Big Mike are not practicing well, but lets see what they can do in a game. I mean, he would bench Chad Johnson, Randy Moss and T.O.

I just don't get it....Glenn Martinez, Mike Furrey, Shaun Bodiford....not the best receivers we have. Furrey dropped another ball....and he is #3. What a mess.

I honestly don't know how the Redskins could evaluate any players in that 41-0 loss a few days ago. Pre-season or not, that was the most pathetic attempt at professional football I have seen in a long time. I still think getting rid of Patrick Ramsey was a HUGE mistake. Todd Collins looks like a janitor attempting brain surgery on the field.

Tonight's going to be tough to watch. I want Carson to get hit so that he knows that he's alright, but at the same time, don't let anyone get within 5 damn yards of Carson!!!!!!!!!!
greenbay is getting punked.
It's been a decade since I attended an NFL game (of course, only the fools and those held at gunpoint would have gone to see the Bengals from 1990-2004). I'm addicted to watching live now; my checking account is *not*. Grrr.

On the plus side of things, getting there and back was a breeze ($1 bus each way, with a stop about a block from my house). The beer was good (though there was quite the bag of hammers who didn't know how to pour a Warsteiner), the football phenomenal.

Let me be clear about how exhilarating this was: I hate children. A lot; yet, there was a kid sitting next to me who was not only nonsensical (redundant, I know), but a raving Packers fan. The kid was awesome, but that's because, unlike a football crowd, he cheered for everything. I appreciate those who don't take it so seriously, and wish I could reclaim that.

Carson was the story of the night (other than, perhaps, the betting pools starting regarding the number of weeks before major changes happen at Green Bay). The crowd cheered his name like Jesus himself had stepped on the field to take a few snaps. I'd wager a mint that Jesus wouldn't have gotten near the pop Palmer did. The collective gasp when he ran downfield was fascinating; normally, football fans want anyone to do anything and everything to ensure a first down, or a touchdown. Carson ran the ball, and those not holding their breath or covering their mouths were shouting for him to go down and not get hit.

If you saw the game, there's not much more to say: Carson looks to be back, his completions were amazing, and TJ Houshmandzadeh showed why you can't focus all your coverage on #85. Most importantly, Carson took a few bumps and hits, so now there's a bit of a sense of calm that most people feel when they scuff up their furniture, or car, or whatever: now we can rest knowing that he's truly settled in. I'm sure that we (as a collective fanbase) will shriek each time he takes a nasty hit, but to play the way he did last night 7 1/2 months after getting injured is just phenomenal.

Oh, and Jeff fucking George? Yikes.

My sentiments exactly.

Carson was great last night. He looked sharp and confident.

I'm pretty sure on TV you could hear a pin drop when Carson ran for 13 yards.
Nope, they need a starter. Week 3 at the latest before he is throwing the bomb to Randy.
The Raiders have a starter and his name is Aaron Brooks. Jeff George was a hack too...waste of a pickup, unless the contract was like 2 mil. 4-5 years

I'm puzzled by the Raiders also. Not sure why they need 4 QB's either. Brooks is starting, Tuissapo was an adequate backup and they seem to think Andrew Walter is the next coming of tan ;)

As for the LIONS, now it appears that BOTH C-Rog and BMW will make the team....what a mess we have in Lions camp. I'm glad they may give them a chance, hopefully they perform....loads of talent, not the best attitude.

Was looking up current FA's and jeff george was decent from whats left, but Jesse palmer is still a FA and a yound one at that(Trivia:Who is Jese palmer related to???)(If you don;t know this you should be banned from knowing anything about football)

You should be banned just for being a douche, but that won't happen. ikik

Its looks more and more like the Terrible Texans, fucked up on not drafting Reggie Bush, as it appears Domanick Davis is going to be out as the starter.

Lol why does everyone hate me? Its not like i've been mean to anyone and my info is correct for the most part.

And the Texans don't need Reggie Bush. Sure, it would be nice to have him but Davis is only 27 if i remember right. Bush would've just added more to the Texans offense which is actually pretty good besides the Off line. So Mario Willams was the better pick up for the Texans

Edit: Sorry, meant to just edit my other post and put this in there, but by mistake i pressed Quote and didn't notice

the 49ers cut jesse palmer so that should tell you how good he is.

Aaron Brooks is complete garbage. He has done nothing in the preseason to show he is worthy of being the starter in Oakland. Jeff George may be old and a bit of a dick, but he throws the ball where Randy likes it and if Porter would stop being an ass they could really have an explosive offense. (This is all based around the notion that Walter is hurt and they are going to deal tuiasosopo).

Just messing with you, thats all.

Not really sure where the Raiders would move Tuiasosopo to. I think Brooks gets the keys to the offense for atleast 2 games, and then if he isn't producing, he gets yanked.

Preseason is a joke. I mean Moss isn't producing either, but no one wants to lench him.
Yea but Moss is not producing because Brooks has been completely horrible in the games I have seen.
That and he has only played a handful of series.

Brooks should be good for about 250 and 2 TD once the season is under way. Not great numbers, but if they're winning he stays in with them. Vice versa, and its hello new QB, not sure if it would be George right away or not.

250 and 2 TD's? I'd be shocked to see that happend, he's been an underachiever ever since he won that playoff game against St.Louis. I'd say near enough 200 Yards, 1 TD maybe 2 on a good day, and at least 1 INT a game. Walter is the future.

How about Billy Volek? Now that would help things out in Oakland.

kubiak's zone-blocking scheme will work in houston, where any RB can gain 1k yds. go check out denver and atlanta's system. i think more and more now that mario williams is the right choice and i understand the reasons for it. i really like reggie bush, he'll do well in N.O, but not a glaring need imo. i know its just preseason but the texans defense has looked very good. one of the reason is that mario williams has been put pressured on opposing QBs, commanded double teams, knocked passes down, caused o-lineman to false starts, and etc. imo, he doesnt need to have 13 sacks to make me happy. if he will get about say 7 sacks this season but the defense shows some improvement by mario commanding double teams and freeing everyone else on one on one, i'll be happy with those results as well. texans will improve by 4 games from last season. the defense looks like an avg nfl defense right now but the offense needs more work. offense takes more time to fix than the defense for any team if you are building up.
How about Billy Volek? Now that would help things out in Oakland.
I've always been high on Volek, thought he got a raw deal with absolutely no talent around him. Bennet's always injured and McCarriens shows up when he feels like it really. If I were the Raiders i'd look at Volek,Schaub,Gerrard next season as an heir-apparent.
r u shitting me?
Volek is a capable backup and could be a starter given the right situation, which apparently isn't in Tennessee due to Kerry Collins being signed.

Looked up his stats and are pretty impressive a 60%+ passer, in 04, when he started 8 games had 18 TD's 10 INT's 2486 Yards and a 61.1%.

Yeah and that was with the Titans, they don't have Moss, or a great #1 for that matter. Not knocking the team, just saying what Volek did there is nothing to sneeze at.

I'd definitely like to see where he goes, seeing as how Young will be starting by Week 5.

Sports Illustrated is on the crack, saying the Lions will finish 2nd in the North, even though their picking them to have a 6-10 record, the Vikes are getting no love, this team will suprise and they also have the Pack going 6-10, if they go 4-12 i'd be suprised.

I think the Lions and Pack will be a chase for last....maybe worst in the NFL. The Lions are REALLY disappointing me now. They played Charles Rogers ONE series...nice way to give him a LOOK in the final game like they said they would. Also, Mike Williams only got limited playing time also. I realize they may not be the best in practice, but they have talent....that's obvious. Also, now they are talking about releasing C-Rog. I think it's like a 8 million salary cap hit too....what a mess if all this happens. Millen should really be ran out of town....yet, he won't. What a mess of an organization we have.

Maybe by some miracle they can pull a Detroit Tigers this year ;)

If Matt Millen, has a brain he will start by cleaning house, kick out M. Williams via trade and cut Charles Rodgers. Sims is a future stud and Eddie Drummond will be a nice #2 to Roy Williams.

It seems to me that Matt Millen tried so hard to craft himself a Madden-like persona that he forgot he needs to put a competent team together. It's a proven NFL blueprint that you can build a young team most quickly with defense. He should get rid of M. Williams and Rogers and get either D or draft picks.

^ yup, that was weak. niners better step it up since it looks like san diego doesn't have any of its starters in.

Honestly, i'd be suprised if we won 4, I have no idea why, but this team is better, but I just don't see it. Alex Smith had a couple of rough times, his #1 problem is he overthrows targets. That 30 yd bomb to Bryant he missed...eh preseason woes hopefully?

Its the 49ers after all, so its probably just shitty play.
Anyone signed up for any of the Yahoo fantasy games yet? I signed up(Winner's league) but my team is kind of weak IMO.

Your team is actually pretty good consiering how many people are in your league, although Tiki Barber is not going to be playing 3rd downs or doal line plays
Its the 49ers after all, so its probably just shitty play.
A mixture of inexperience and some dropped passes. Michael Robinson has a chance to be the Randle El for the 49ers, really good runner, above average catching skills.

The defense is the main problem, with alot of young kids. Won't help facing the 3 headed horse of Boldin,Fitz,Johnson.

I think Robinson should get some looks at some trick plays, a la Randle El. That is assuming that this is the same Robinson that was Penn States QB last year.

And don't forget about Arizona's best pick up, Edge. He may hurt the 49ers more than all 3 of those guys.

Edge will do some damage, but the o-line of the Cards is still mediocre to say the least.

Word is Ron Dayne and Charles Rogers are getting the boot, i'm hoping Nolan signs Rogers, I think this is a Daunte Culpepper/Corey Dillon scenario where they need a new piece of scenery.

They both already got cut. And word has it that Rogers has a work out in Green Bay. Dayne has had a change of scenary, just didn't get used due to the backs that were ahead of him.

It's a hell of a lot better than the guy I saw pick with first picks (in order) Drew Brees, TO, Reggie Bush, Joe Horn, and eventually two kickers in a row. He said he had internet issues, but it was a humorous draft (changed his team name to "not so invincable" after the draft) to say the least.

Managed to pick the last half of the team.
Completely missed, but still did well.
Picked the whole draft with #1 slot.

For the first and third teams, I had the first pick, with Shaun as my top pick. I'm surprised that I managed to stay away from picking Denver players as much as I did.
