You really think the Lakers are going to get to the 2nd round?

No Portland or Boston makes me sad. I never go for CA teams except the Ducks. I gained a lot of respect for them once Disney sold them.

fuck YEA, funny story from the game......the huge inflatable benny da bull that flys around the stadium deflated and fell on top of the crowd, funny shit I tell you.

Was that what happened?
I knew I saw it when someone was going for their freethrows but didn't know it fell on the crowd.

sidenote: I really want one of those.

Lol yep and I was saying how sweet it would be to let a fan just take the huge benny home since it fell into the crowd lmao.

Surprised that Denver took Game 1 but I guess that is to be expected when Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker shoot a combined 36% from the field. I'd probably feel good if I was San Antonio considering Anthony and Iverson played like beasts (62 combined points) and the game was still close.

Interesting opening weekend to the play-offs. Let's see...

In the east:

Looks like Detroit is up to their usual tricks, dominating Orlando, letting them come back for God knows what reason, and then pulling away. The Magic will be lucky to stretch this to 5 games.

Washington looks utterly hopeless without Arenas & Butler. Of course who does look good missing their 2 all-stars? Cavs should easily roll to that 4 game sweep.

The Nets' experience trumps the Raptors to steal home court and likely the series. I believe I initially picked New Jersey in 7 (have to check my picks on my home computer) but I doubt this one goes more than 6 now.

The Bulls surprised me in taking game 1 from Miami. Don't the Heat know they can't play Detroit's on-off when they feel like it game? Cripes 'o Friday that style got Detroit knocked out last year! Anyway, I picked Miami, and I stand by that. This one probably stretches the distance now though. Chicago just won't be able to overcome the foul calls Miss Wade gets.

In the west:

A reason to stay up late every night!

Golden State beating Dallas was awesome. I hope the Warriors take this series, that'd be comical, Cuban would blow a gasket too. As much as I like him, he whined too much last year, watching him lose in round 1 would be fantastic. I initially picked Dallas in 6, and told my friend that Golden State would likely win game 3 (first play-off game at home in over a decade) and that Dallas probably wouldn't lose 2 in a row all series. Chances are my predictions will all hold, but I can always hope to be wrong.

The Lakers had the chance to beat Phoenix today, easily could've, but Phoenix scored more points in the 3rd quarter than LA scored in the 2nd half. Sure Kobe will get LA game 3, but that's probably it. I still doubt we see a game 6.

The biggest shock this weekend (to me) was Denver winning game 1. How often do the Spurs trail in a series when they have home court advantage? Especially in round 1? Alright, it's happened before, but Denver is a very tough first round opponent. I think I picked this in 7, maybe 6, either way it's surely going 7 now. Not sure who will win anymore, although I originally picked the Spurs.

The Rockets of course had little trouble with that joke of a team Utah. Honestly, Utah is the weakest western play-off team, and although I picked this one to go 6 games before, I may be wrong, and Utah will get swept up like the trash they are.

I just think that was the worst I've seen the Raptors play (and the first time you've probably seen them play) all year. They'll bounce back.

That's just not true. I watched both of their late season games against Detroit. The first game mattered to Toronto for play-off seeding, the 2nd did not. Detroit dominated game 1, only for Toronto's starters to beat our deep, deep, deep bench. Detroit was literally playing guys 9-13 in that game, and nearly won anyway. Then in the next game, Toronto was still using some of their starters, and role players and this time Detroit's 9-13 guys dominated them. Amir Johnson played right up with Chris Bosh, and Johnson isn't even on our play-off roster.

Toronto is too young, and they're pretty banged up with Garbajosa out and Bargnini and Mo Pete not near 100%. Peterson ironically got hurt in that meaningless game against Detroit. The Nets on the other hand have so much experience in their big 3, and Carter is playing for a contract. Those factors alone will likely push New Jersey into round 2.

I like Toronto though, so hopefully I'm wrong.

You do make good points. And I really don't think the Raptors can beat the Pistons, anyway. But the reason why I think we can beat the Nets is that they have no answer for Chris Bosh, who had the flu last game. If we can keep giving it to him down low and get Anthony Parker, Ford, Calderon and Bargnani just playing better then last game, we can beat the Nets. Don't like our chances against anyone past this round, though.

Why not? The Cavs are the single most over-rated team in the play-offs. A cake-walk over the crippled Wizards is no way to prepare for New Jersey or Toronto. The Raptors certainly could beat Cleveland, there isn't much to the Cavs beyond James. Plus Big Z, Goodan (ie the idiot with the patch on hair on the back of his head), and Raggedy Ann are some of the softest "big men" in the league. Bosh could terrorize the Cavs, and in that series experience wouldn't be a factor at all.

The main problem for Toronto though is winning a game in Jersey now that they've lost home court edge.

I know the Wiz have little chance, but man it was depressing to see the pre-game show on TNT before game 1 of Wiz-Cavs. Magic flat said "They have no chance." and then Kenny chimes in with "Get the broom." Ouch.

The topper is that Game 2 is on NBAtv which I don't get. Probably just as well.

The Bobcats basically eliminated Washington in those back-to-back injury games. Although, LeBron playing on a gimpy ankle in game 2 could end in hilarious results.

Both games tonight ended with the score of 98-90, interesting. Predictable as well.

How about tonight's line for Kirelenko: 0 points, 5 fouls!

Well, unfortunately, all I've had time to watch is highlight clips..but I do know this...

I remember when Utah was an unbeatable team, even by a much stronger Rockets team and much stronger Lakers, and right now it seems like the Rockets are pretty much teaching them how to play basketball for an hour straight every other night.

And I also know, TN sucks for NBA ball...Grizzlies..woo. = (

I wonder if were going to see 40 + pt Kobe, or 20+ , 6, and 6 Kobe. I remember in last years playoffs he just completely deferred to his teammates late in the series and they couldn't make crap. I don't see how they can win unless Odom, and Walton are a efficient part of the offense. The lakes really need some offense off the bench to counter act the speedy Barbosa and his freakishly high off the glass layups.
Big game for the Nets tonight. Would be huge to go back to NJ up 2-0.
Not gonna happen. :D
Not gonna happen. :D
Yeah didn't think they were going to take 2 in Toronto. Was just kind of hoping. Bosh and Parker played good tonight. Two poor games in a row for Vince Carter, look for him to explode back in NJ :D

Man, Miami sure is digging a deep hole to climb out of. This Bulls team might not let Miami take the next 4 so easily either. However, if Miami can get out of a 2-0 hole against Dallas in the finals, they can get out of one against Chicago.

Great Observation

Just got back from the Bulls game 2 and it was damn great. It was actually the first game I've been to that the Bulls won.
The next few games are still going to be dangerous but Bulls are gonna bring it.

I'm still waiting to go to a Lions game that they actually win :whistle2:(
Well, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the Lakers are done for this season.
Yeah the Sun's man handled them. They need another scorer to compliment Kobe and Odom. And they need to get rid of Parker. He is terrible.

I'm happy to see the Magic finally back in the playoffs. I just hope they can win at least one game against the Pistons.
I expected Chicago to win the series against the Heat, but last nights game was a complete blowout. The Bulls vs Pistons would be a good series.

Heh im guessing you didnt go to too many games this year since they only lost 10 times at home this year :)

Anyways yesterdays game was great.

Any Miami fans going to the game on Friday? I'll be flying down there for games 3 and 4 and was wondering if anyone wants to meet up.

So far there haven't been any absolute shockers, and YES that's including the Denver/SA and GS/Dallas games.
Myself? I'm a Detroit guy. Detroit's up 2-0, no big surprise there.. The Pistons ended the season on a "meh" note, but haven't had too many problems with Orlando. Haven't been able to blow them out yet, either. I'm guessing Orlando will win game 4 in Orlando and then lose the next two.

Denver has been playing fairly good ball in the last month as AI and 'Melo have been gelling a bit better on the court. Just... what, last March they were stuck with a 32-33 record and managed to finish fairly strongly and secure the 6 seed in the West, and SA - while not playing bad - didn't play particularly amazing the last little bit of the season as they were prepping for the playoffs. Denver has a solid team that will probably win two games, possibly even three if SA has an off night in Denver.

Dallas' problem was entirely Avery Johnson's fault. He's simply trying to out-trick The Nelson(tm), and it's not going to work, especially with a roster he's intimately familiar with. Johnson simply needs to stick with the same lineup that won him 67 games in the regular season and he'll get out of this series in six games, max.

My 1st round picks:
East:
Detroit 4 - 1 Orlando
Miami 2 - 4 Chicago (Something of an upset, I guess)
Toronto 3 - 4 New Jersey (Toronto's youth won't be able to beat the Nets, but they'll come close)
Cleveland 4 - 0 Washington (Washington is not going to have the slightest chance with their injuries)

West:
Dallas 4 - 2 Golden State (The only reason GS will win 2 is because I don't believe Avery Johnson will stop trying to pull tricks quite yet)
Utah 2 - 4 Houston (My upset pick. Houston is on fire...)
Phoenix 4 - 2 Los Angeles (Kobe wills the team to wins in games 3 and 4)

Pistons won 10 out of there last 14 which is pretty good way to end the season. I agree with all your picks except I think Detroit might also sweep. And the Suns might even win it in 5. You did'nt pick the Spurs series but I think they will win it 4-2.

Always easier to pick after you've watched the first 2 games though ;)

So far every game I did not get on TNT was on NBA TV. A couple of the Nets game if you are local were on channel 9 but also on NBA TV.

L.A. spot light, Jack Nicholson and crew , a must win game, KOBE is goin to tear it up tonight! I'm callin his 50 pts and crew take this game and thats about it, PHX is gonna get some good rest before they play S.A.
Stephen Jackson is a fuckin' fool. That's all I have to say at the moment.
You are very wrong mi amigo. As a Warriors fan, he's breathed life into this team.

The refs I was really pissed off at, SJax fouls Harris, raises his hands to say I fouled him. So Baron and Terry get into a scuffle, and a couple of the W's confront the Mav's and what does SJax do? He pulls them back, puts his hands out wide as a barrier. What happends? He gets T'd, that's why he was pissed off.

Go Warriors!

Regardless of what he's done for the team he's still a fool. I like your logic though

If the guy can't control his anger the Warriors will not be in this series much longer, especially if he gets himself suspended for a game.

Are you fucking retarded? Honestly?

SJax HELD back Pietrus,J-Rich,Harrington to stop a fight when B.Diddy got his first technical. Then, the ref called a T on SJax as well for no reason, so him and B.Diddy got a T at the same time. The game went on, B.Diddy should've got ejected, their's no disproving that, and SJax was at the end before he got ejected, and the W's showing their no play-off experience, let Harris and Stack drive by for lay-up lines, so SJax, commited a hard foul, and jabbed and got thrown out. The 2nd T was just, and luckily Barnes was able to cover up his mouth.

If he's suspended, then somethings really fucking wrong, I expected nonetheless, with Mark "Where's my Bottle?" Cuban.

I sense hostility... seems we got a case of the internet tough guys today.

Well, tough guy, you left off the part where Jackson spent about 5 minutes walking around yelling at fans instead of leaving the court. Regardless of how well he played doesn't change the fact that he got ejected and how he conducted himself after that ejection. His behavior risked him getting a suspension IN THE PLAY-OFFS. Thus, he is a fool.

How he played and his behavior are COMPLETELY unrelated, but I guess that's just too complicated of a concept for someone as simple minded as you to grasp though.

I don't doubt he has helped the Warriors, he has been a MAJOR help to the team, but that doesn't change the fact he is a fool. Even the coach realizes it.

"It doesn't make any sense to me, as hard as we worked to get to the playoffs, to all of a sudden get there and not be able to play because of ejections and not controlling our emotions,'' Nelson said before a brief workout at the Warriors' downtown training complex.

Don Nelson's words.

For example, I'm a Hokies fan, and you better believe when Marcus Vick was acting a fool that I recognized it.

No, I don't disagree on the fact that he acted like an idiot when he was walking away after getting ejected, but it seems people are forgetting he held back at least four Warriors who wanted to club the Mav's.

For a Warriors' fan this is awesome, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The W's are straight thugs, remind me of the Fab Five.

So it's awesome that your 2 best players get thrown out of a playoff game and can't control there emotions. Jackson is an idiot. And Baron should be a veteran and keep his mouth shut ecpecially after getting the first technical.
I still contest the 2nd tech, wasn't he just laughing... which I know is now a crime in the NBA.
He was laughing and clapping right next to the official who was messing with him all night.

The Warriors will win this series in 7.
