I'll be back, maybe not for a few days or a week though. Gordon Bombay will make his epic comeback in NHL 10. *blows duck whistle thing*

I just put in my preorder at Gamestop. The guy there was dumb, saying there was a regular version of the game for $49.99 or a "special edition" for $59.99. I think dude was looking at the Wii version as the $50 one. But I got my "Kane 88 Booster pack" card! It's not one of those cards where you tear off something to see the code. It's just printed right on the card. I wonder if I can download it now.
It's a long shot, but they could possibly allow a player to be on one Pro team and one Casual team. I think you're all smart enough to figure it out from there.

Edit: Also, assuming you can challenge across leagues. Besides, we can always set up private matches like last year.
But the shitty thing about private matches was it didn't track stats. So, we'd play fair against each other, not improve our skaters at all. Then play against randoms who had their legend cards, and get destroyed, and get F minuses in everything. If there's a way to avoid that this year (or at least have our games count for something), I'm all for that. Don't get me wrong. The private matches were a fun way to avoid cheaters and not get infuriated with the game, but I hope we don't have to do that right out of the gate this year. It would be nice to actually try to improve my skater.

Lucky! The Manager didn't give me anything. He said Tuesday Morning I will get mine. So just let's you put in a code or what Matt?

I doubt that you would get skater grades from challenging other clubs anyways. Think about how badly people would exploit it. And even if it did, one group would likely go down in points/grade while the other would go up.

That's a good point. It just seems like it would make a lot of the options in the game not count for anything. But either way, that's almost another argument for why we should all stay on the same team.

Yeah, I downloaded the pack instantly. I checked and there is a ton of stuff already available on the marketplace. The 3 items (stick, gloves, skates) that are in the pack are available for 160 MS points each, amongst many other various stat boosting things.

This is all for the +5 boosts btw.

College Helmet. Yes. Purchused.

I'm curious to see what all the other purchuseable equipment looks like. I wonder why the camo is all three attribute slots and smaurai is two, retro is one etc.

Hello gentlemen, I am back for another year. It's been a hard summer, working really hard to better myself, and help the Sex Panthers on to victory. Game drops tomorrow, very excited here.
Yeah, I downloaded the pack instantly. I checked and there is a ton of stuff already available on the marketplace. The 3 items (stick, gloves, skates) that are in the pack are available for 160 MS points each, amongst many other various stat boosting things.
I just looked at the marketplace after I read this and there are 239 pieces of DLC available for the game! WTF! Are these confirmed that these work for your OTP players online? I am definitely not liking the idea of letting people purchase boosts for their players.

So instead of stopping people from glitching to 99 ratings they decided it would be a more lucrative idea to let people pay for their ratings? Jeez sometimes I just hate EA.

Yes they are all forms of boosts and equipment. raging from 80 to 160 pts, and the occasional 240 pt item. It is dirty, but I can see myself buying some goalie boosts, along with the awesome college helmet, which my LW will be wearing all season long.

Camoflague hockey equipment...why?
Camoflague hockey equipment...why?
So you can sneak up on the goalie...if you were playing outside...in a jungle...and not playing hockey, but hunting. See, now it makes sense. Doesn't it? :)

Also, just wanted to say we've got 24 people on the roster right now, and a few more that have confirmed they're coming back. Can't wait to see the turnouts for CAG Hockey Night! It probably goes without saying, but I'll definitely be on tomorrow night at 8PM EST (and probably before then) for anybody who wants to start the festivities. I'm actually going to try to play the game for most of the day, but we'll see how the wife handles that news, haha. But 8PM will be a definite in case anyone wants to coordinate times.

^I'll be playing most of the day myself, I don't know about 8 pm tomorrow though... the fiance' will tolerate Friday night, I don't know bout all week... haha

But, I'll be on late-night, I'm on vaca all week.

I meant to post this a while ago but one of the EA producers made a post on OS about how the boosts and what not would work.

For each type of equipment (gloves, stick, skates and helmet) there are a variety of models that give you from zero to three boost slots. The slots can be filled in with boosts of +1, +3 or +5 to a specific attribute that is associated with that piece of equipment. Both the gear and the boosts are unlocked separately. There is also a boost pack for each player type that gives you upgraded stats using up the gloves, stick and skates (you can still use a helmet and its boost slots).

Without the boost pack you can still use the experience card points to upgrade attributes, similar to NHL 09, but with the boost pack you cannot.

Overall, a boost pack raises a skater from the low 70s to the low 80s overall. You can get to the same ballpark with individual pieces of gear combined with the experience points, the advantage of that route being that you have more fine control over how your attributes are distributed.

As for the concern that you will need to use inauthentic gear to be top rated, this was a controversial topic on the team too. The way it is set up you cannot choose any gear you like to get the most boost, but there are choices for the best (three slot) gear and some of it looks authentic.

As far as gameplay goes, with all of the equipment and experience boosts a player will be able to go from their initial rating in the low 70s to the low to mid 80s overall. This is comparable to the difference between a player with no cards and one with a Legend card in NHL 09, so there's not a great different in that regard. The effects of the attributes have been improved.

The two most economical ways to approach the system (IMO) are:
1) Unlock stuff by playing, and level up with experience (this is what I'm doing -- I'm not planning to buy anything) -- if you only want to play online you'll have trouble with this, but if you are willing to play through 40 games and the playoffs of a Be A Pro season (you can sim the rest) you can unlock a lot of stuff fairly quickly with one well thought out season.
2) Buy a Boost Pack, use that to be strong early on then switch to individual gear when you have enough stuff unlocked that you are better off that way.

Since a Helmet can be equipped with a Boost Pack with the second route you could either buy or unlock the helmet and attribute boosts for it.

If there are any specific questions about any of it I'd be happy to answer them.

You're options for adding points are the following:

1. You can earn your card just like 09

2. Position specific boost packs

3. Individual pieces of gear with boost slots

Now here's where it gets tricky, so concentrate.

Using boost slotted equipment (3) adds attributes to your current build. Which means it adds onto your card points.

Using position specific boost packs replaces your card, and it's a package of gear - stick, gloves, and skates. So you can't use custom boost slotted gear on top of the position specific boost pack. But you can still use a helmet with boost slots, as the position boost packs don't come with helmets.

Simply:

card + boost slots = Yes

card + boost pack = No

boost pack + boost slots = No, aside from helmet

So, for max attributes, you will have to wear non-authentic equipment. Though the Kane equipment has boost slots, I hope there's more than a single option of authentic gear with boost slots, or about 70% of EASHL players will be wearing the exact same gear once the novelty of childish pretend gear wears off.

I'll prob be on around 4 or 5 EST for a little bit tomorrow. Then I'll be back on around 10-ish. I'll probabaly be on late night throughout this week, but I'll be out of town Friday and Saturday. I'll make sure I get my hockey in before then. :)
Brilliant custom title, Panther. :)
Itry Matt. I try. :)

Amazon notified me that it is on its way. 20 hours from now NHL will be on my doorstep. Awesome. :D

I do like the fact that playing through the different modes can unlock the boosts and equipment.
the boosting shit is so confusing.
Later in the thread the EA guy said they were going to make it more balanced.

Heres what I get from it:

1. You can use your player card points(like last year) and unlock equp to use

2. You can buy boost packs which replace one(maybe more?) of your cards but you can't choose what atrributes get boosted.

In the end EA really f*cked up with this. Its just them being greedy

And I'm not sure what my skater name will be. Probably my name like last year.
I may not get it day 1, but I'm pumped!
shit is marvel out tommrow too?
Wet, Need For Speed Shift, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and NHL 2010. I have a full good couple weeks of gaming.
GSs 'round here don't even open till 10, huh.
Yeah, I probably won't get mine till around noon'ish. After that, it's game on though.

Oh, and in case anybody didn't notice, MrMeaty28 has started a team of his own to rival the Sex Panthers. Considering that fact, I definitely don't want to split our group up now. Anybody who wants to show them what CAG is all about and how we do things, should stick around.

For the new guys, you're free to stay with us and become part of the ever growing Sex Panther legacy. But if anybody wants to join his team, for whatever reason, no hard feelings. I just wanted to make sure all the guys who were on the team last year were aware of this interesting plot twist. :)

GO SEX PANTHERS!!!

yeah 10 for me too... i am gonna pick up NHL, the Kid Cudi and Muse albums, come back and get twisted... and play all day...

blisssssss

I'm starting my own team called the Sexier Panthers. It's gonna be sick!!!!!!!!111!!!one!1! :D

Mr. Meaty meet Dr. Pizza. I'm sure he'll be up for it.

Just saw the commercial on MNF. Dammit I'm pumped.

Kicks sooooo much ass. I've had it for about a week now ;).

Guiding Light and UD will disappoint you though, be fore warned.

I won't be disappointed by Muse cause I was never a big fan... I bought their last two albums though after hearing them on Sirius everyday. I'm sure their album will be better than anything released since "Only by the Night." cept maybe Dead Weather?
