Yeah, I got a Faulk for under 7K today. Doing pretty well with the Hurricanes collection, have most of the players. Need 6 of their uniforms however. Out of coins for now, so it may have to wait.

Any suggestions for Steam tonight? I know Rocket League sometimes feels similar to NHL, so if anybody wanted to switch it up, I wouldn't mind.

GTA? Do we hate Payday now? I lost track of that whole microtransaction thing. Mount Your Friends? TheHunter: Primal?

Next Car Game has lawnmower races now, too. :)

Down to four defenseman and most of the jerseys on Carolina.
Yeah, the biggest advice I could give for collections is know how many coins you need to complete the collection (the reason I made that list) and then just flip players/play games until you have enough to buy everything.

Other than the occasional card you'd use in your lineup anyway, you're better off reinvesting your coins to make more coins (even if you only make a 500 coin profit), rather than using them on players that are just going to rot until the collection is done.

Then, when, you have the amount you need, buy everything, watch the banner pop, then immediately relist all the cards so you can get your coins back and move on to the next one. I do this before even opening any packs, in case I get a player I just bought...so I won't stupidly throw him away because it says "already owned".

It is a total meta game though. But for whatever reason, this is the most I've enjoyed Ultimate Team since Madden 12. At this point, I think part of the appeal is that I have a shot at completing all of the collections without ever giving EA an extra cent.

Yeah wound up finishing it last night. Best player I got was Sean couturier.
Yeah, some of them will be crap like that. I just look at collections as "something to do with the game". The good news is Faulk's value has recovered a bit. You should be able to get about 8k for him.

Then, just list everybody else for the last sold price (unless it's something dumb like less than what they quick sell for). And then you should be well on your way to having enough to tackle New Jersey. Schneider is their only big card and he goes for around 15k.

Finally completed Chicago's collection today...and in the 12 reward packs, my best pulls were Niemi (85) and a 2,000 coin bonus card. Awesome, EA...awesome. This is why I wish the rewards were just set cards...whether it be legends or otherwise.

Even the number of packs they give is dumb as hell. Calgary gives you 10 packs. Tampa Bay gives you 9 packs. Calgary costs about 65k coins to complete. Tampa Bay costs about 635k coins to complete. How does that make sense?

Then you have the randomness of it where Rob gets better cards in the 6 Devils reward packs than I did in the 12 Chicago packs (not complaining...I've gotten very good cards in other packs...but the randomness still stands). Seriously, Ramjagsingh must be in love with the idea that something good could happen, or you could just get completely dicked over. That theme is in like every part of this game, lol.

Oh well...on to Washington...and eventually, Pittsburgh. I'm sure I'll get good cards from those.

Correction, it was a milestone vermette. Sucks I can't sell it. Used a c to lw card to move couture over and put vermette in for brassard. Trying to sell Schneider and move on to Toronto and van riemsdyk.

Well....I might be back on board

Finished Toronto. Got Barrie of Colorado and a 2k pick bonus. Nothing of note. On to buffalo I think, though Kane is gonna be tough.

Got an interesting offer for riemsdyk. 22k and four cards, all 85 rated players. Mike green, ekblad, kucherov and vrbata. Debating it.

All 4 of those guys go for 800-1000. So...you're looking at around 26K for Van Riemsdyk. That's decently fair. It looks like his last sold price was 25950. I had him listed at 27K, so it's right there in the ballpark. Just depends if you'd rather have the extra 4K or those players, I guess.

He wound up selling for 27.5 before I could accept so its irrelevant.
Haha, nice. Yeah, in the interest of completing collections, I'd rather just have the coins and move on to the next one.

Those players aren't bad when you're developing your team, but since you can feasibly complete collections without ever playing anybody (and more effectively), it's all just about how you want to spend your time with the game.

I will say, seeing one collection snowball into the next is pretty fun though. I really thought I'd reach a point where the "next group" would be impossible, but eventually you get there.

I'm about 90-100k from Ovechkin now. I ended up selling Rinne and Bergeron (again) to get over the hump with Chicago. But now Backstrom replaced Bergeron, and I've got Holtby/Andersen/Luongo as my goalies.

I still have Crawford as a "cannot trade", but he's always horrible for me. Goalie performance is so up and down.

Finished the buffalo collection. Best I got was an 86 overall d-man from LA and Patrick sharp, which let me sell the one I had.

Posting in here just in case you guys don't wander into the CAGFC thread, but EA just sent out email invitations to register for the UFC 2 closed beta. I guess it's going to run from 1/28 to 2/4, and is only open to people who owned the first EA UFC game.

As an EA SPORTS UFC owner, you’re invited to register for the EA SPORTS UFC 2 Closed Beta. This is your chance to experience online FIGHT NOW and UFC ULTIMATE TEAM before the full game hits stores on March 15, 2016.

Once you register, you will receive full instructions on how to participate in the Closed Beta. We will email your exclusive Closed Beta access code around January 28, 2016. The Closed Beta runs until February 4, 2016.

Please note that this invitation is exclusive. It is associated with your EA Account and you cannot share it. Codes are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. For more details, click here.
Also note the line about UFC Ultimate Team. Yeeeeah...no idea how that's going to work, lol. But of course UUT packs would become a thing.

Didnt own the first UFC, so I guess I'm out.

Might play a game or two tonight if you guys are already on, but I wont be on too late.

I'm too scared to try this. I'll get banned for sure.

Also, I'm getting on now if anyone wants to hockey me.

My brain is less functional than normal. I thought you guys were talking about playing the UFC beta, which I didn't realize wasn't going to release for 2 more weeks. Guess I can't download it tonight.

Watch it. It's on Netflix. Really good. :)

Thanks. I'll check that out. Hurt too much to play any games last night, so I watched half of this documemtary on Cannon Films called "Electric Boogaloo". I've always loved documentaries, but that's basically all I've watched lately when it comes to Netflix.

Oh, man. I just absolutely thrashed some douchebag to cap off my move back up to Division 2.

This was his team:
Backes

Bourque

Carter

Bobby Hull

Kessel

Kreider

Lidstrom

Lindros

Modano

Nash

S. Niedermayer

Nyquist

Plekanec

Seabrook

Subban

Suter

Voracek

Zetterberg

Lundqvist

Roy

And what was he doing all game? Spamming stick lift, throwing the puck out from his goalie with my guys standing right there, and looking for shitty crossers that break physics. All those ridiculous players and that's all this guy has. Thankfully, my team actually performed...and even snatched a couple that Lundqvist threw back out. I made him watch the replay for those. I'm sorry, if you're going to be an asshat, you deserve to watch yourself being an asshat.

Once he did it the last time, and Thornton came in to snatch it again and just poked it into an open net to put me up 6-2, and the guy was out of pauses, he just quit. I outshot him 23-10...and actually got penalty calls. It's insane how when the game does what it SHOULD do, these idiots have nothing. If only it worked like that more often.

Probably my most enjoyable game. I feel like I crushed his soul and drank his tears, lol

Also, it's QWOP Dusting time. Things happened at the end of last night...and with the server issues and the lag, we were just like "fuck it".

I'm a little early tonight, so if anybody wants to get started, I'll be around.

American Truck Simulator details. Apparently, it's only going to cost $20 at launch since the plan is expanding with DLC, many of which will be paid. California is where it starts, Nevada will also be ready at launch and be free. Arizona will come shortly thereafter and also be free. They basically said whether or not they get to do the entire country/continent will depend on how the rest of the DLC sells.

Kinda weird, almost makes it feel like a microtransaction heavy game. But modeling an entire state's worth of roads and landmarks is the kind of DLC I can get behind. The price seems pretty fair to me.

It's time to respond to the avalanche of questions coming our way concerning our plans for the initial edition of American Truck Simulator and its post-release future.

[3.bp.blogspot.com]

The day one release will contain the state of California. That was always the plan.

We are happy to confirm that on February 3rd, we will also have the state of Nevada fully ready for release. We were still not sure about Nevada's finish-line when the game box packaging design was being finalized, so the boxes sitting on retail shelves will put the spotlight on California, but there is actually more coming your way right out of the gate. In short, DLC Nevada will be a free game update for everyone, no matter where or when you will have bought the game, available immediately on official release date.

[2.bp.blogspot.com]

It is also public knowledge by now that we are hard at work on the state of Arizona. On the packaging of the retail box, there is actually an explicit statement that DLC Arizona will unlock for owners of this game edition when it's eventually finished. We are delighted to confirm that Arizona DLC will also be a free game update for everybody. You will just have to wait for it a little bit longer, this part of the world is still under development.

You do not really have to worry about the particular channel where to purchase the game, whether it's on Steam, in any other digital store, or in a bricks-and-mortar shop, the playable content will be the same for everybody.

Actually, we should also mention that next to this base release, several retail publishers have decided to also offer a richer (and more expensive) edition of the game on release, calling it Collector's Edition. These bigger cardboard boxes are surely nicer, they contain a cool selection of additional merchandise items, so it would be for example a very cool birthday gift with extra value. But when it comes to the game itself, the installation media is the same, and the same set of DLCs will be unlocked for those buying this special edition of the game as will for people with the regular edition of the game.

Recommended price of the game is going to be $20/€20, though it is to be expected that for alternate currencies, some local market specifics and the need to display a nice round figure may cause slight variations.

We surely do not plan to stop working on American Truck Simulator world with Arizona. However, please be aware that the road ahead of us is long, and it will take us years to cover the continent. We will continue to add features to the game with regular free updates, but most further map expansion DLCs, if not all, will be paid. We have had to pick a business model allowing us to build more than ten times the amount of content compared to what we are launching with. If you are looking forward to drive coast to coast, you will not be able to do that now, and it will cost you more eventually than the price of the initial purchase.

It would be great to get the chance to reach the East Coast, it would be fabulous to be able to push north towards at least 60 degs latitude and south towards the Equatorial. But ultimately, it is up to you, our fans, if this happen - you will vote with your wallets. We expect to get the right guidance from you on future growth of our team to handle the new opportunities and challenges.

Time for the EA Buttfuck of the Day! I finally had enough coins to buy Ovechkin (860,000). So, I try to finish up the collection this morning and discover that because of this awesome update that added new players, there's one guy who STILL doesn't even exist yet: Nate Schmidt (oh, the irony of him having my name...you'd really think EA was intentionally screwing with me).

According to people on the EA forums, he was also a Team of the Week card, so his regular card won't exist until tomorrow. Can't wait to see how expensive that's going to be...

So, anybody for tonight to get our torture on?
Yeah, I should be able to tonight.

In other news, I finally completed Washington. That stupid ass Nate Schmidt card became available last night...and of course the price was high. I bought him...opened my first reward pack...and the very first card of the very first pack...was Nate Schmidt. :wall: It's really amazing how EA is like the most unintentional intentional asshole ever.

And naturally, the best card I pulled in the 10 reward packs was James Neal...who I already have as a "CANNOT TRADE". So, I had to just throw him away (yay). And by the time I went to resell that Nate Schmidt card, his value had plummeted and I lost about 4000 coins on him. So good, lol.

Also, this new special pack must really be giving out some high end players because I've seen a lot of Ovechkins lately...which sucks for me because his value has dropped about 80,000 coins. I paid 860k for mine and one just sold earlier for 780k. Considering he's still a very desirable and rare player though, I might just wait it out and hope the value goes back up soon.

Only Pittsburgh left...when they're done, I'm loading my team with legends, haha.
