Yeah, chances are probably still pretty low of getting somebody good. I'd imagine the Twitch streamers and the massive pack openers are the ones that cause most of the influx. Or just random 1 in 10,000 luck. Somebody posted something interesting on the NHL forums claiming that EA has admitted that not every card in the pack has the same chance of pulling a high value card. It's apparently weighted where the first couple slots have the highest chance, then the ones after that have something like 5% or less. All part of EA's scheme.

If it makes you feel any better, I just outshot a guy 24-12 and lost 2-1. My one goal came on him being a fucktard and passing the puck out because he thought Forsberg was "too close" to the goalie to grab it (which is stupid as fuck that that's even a thing). But instead, somehow I gained control of him quickly and basically one timed it in. Every other shot though, Bishop is standing on his head to bail the guy out. So, he got to play bad fundamental hockey and still reap all the benefits and win. EA Spertz...with a z.

 
After opening the pack, decided to go play some Online Ranked Versus. Two against one. So all this guy and his buddy did was cherry pick. So, his defense shit the end and Of course if I was in a corner both would come charging leaving Stamkos in front of the net by him self. It eventually became 5-1 and the start of the third I decided to pull my goalie. Went a good 15 minutes with no goals. He scores 3 because I didn't care at that point. 2 minutes left, he played the puck with the goalie and put it in him self. Awesome. 30 seconds later, Stamkos free and clear and then they quit. Probably one of the funniest games playing against people who just spaz out and don't D.

Uh, well I've had a Twitter account since 2009. I just rarely use it because I'm not really a fan of how simple it is. I basically only look at it if I have a specific reason to do so.

 
Finished Pittsburgh today. All NHL collections complete. Zero dollars spent. Pulled a Tyler Seguin in one of the Pittsburgh reward packs (really glad my last set of packs wasn't total shit).

Now to load my team full of legends, haha. :)

Also, anyone want to play tonight? We're still snowed in here and schools are closed again tomorrow. So, I'll be around at the usual time.

 
That's cool. I'm getting drunk with power anyway, lol. Just bought Bossy, Gilmour, and Bergeron (those damn faceoffs, man)...still have 226,000 coins...and Crosby hasn't sold yet...

So, something interesting...one of the HUT tracking websites started listing face off rating in their player database. And it doesn't match that Reddit list at all.

Guys like Stastny are llsted at an 80 instead of the 89 the Reddit list had him at. And they have Toews listed at 95 the same as Bergeron. They have Thornton as an 85 instead of 91 and Seguin as a 75 instead of 84. I'm trying to figure out where these numbers are coming from because at least the Reddit numbers match the official roster updates from EA. I asked about it here, but might ask on the EA forums too and see if that EA_Devs guy will respond.

Well, I decided to take an interesting gamble and may have lost. I received a trade offer on my Crosby for a milestone Steven Stamkos card. There were zero of them for sale currently. And of course, in the trade offer screen, the "last sold price" was broken and showed "0". I looked at the other Stamkos special cards for auction...and the TOTW cards have the exact same stats: 92 OVR - 94 SPD, 94 SHT, 95 HND, 86 CHK, 89 DEF...and had last solds of 1.4 million coins.

I also ran a Google search on the card and saw somebody else saying they pulled one and sold it for 1.3 million, but that was a couple months ago. The card definitely isn't worthless, so I decided to accept the trade. Of course, once it puts the card in my inbox, the "last sold" now works and shows me 556,000. But it is the only one available. Just not sure how sellable it is. I threw a price of 800k on it just as a start. It's still significantly cheaper than any of the TOTW ones that are available...and with the exact same stats, maybe somebody will jump on it.

I is scared I dun goofed, lol. :???:

 
Big risk, big reward.

IMO, TOTW/POTG/Milestone cards are risky, because you basically have to have someone looking specifically for that version- is doenst come up if you do a general search the the team/position/player build unless you specifically indicate you're looking for that one specific variant.

Yeah. That's the problem with EA creating all these dumb special cards but not having collections and rewards for them. There's not actually any incentive at all to acquire those cards unless you're just a big fan of that player and want to USE the card.

And it's really crazy with the TOTW cards. There are already three DIFFERENT Shea Weber TOTW cards...all with different attributes.

Anyway, I think what I'm going to try to do with the card is what the guy did with me...but I'm targeting Ovechkin. Statistically, the Stamkos is probably worth a regular Ovechkin (faster and even more deadly sniper). It's just a matter of finding the right person who is interested in it/wants to avoid EA's 5% tax. If I can flip it for an Ovechkin, then I've made a huge gain.

There is a method to the madness. I'm just not totally confident in it, lol. :lol:

Haha, well, it's not looking quite as dire as yesterday. Putting in offers on Ovechkins didn't pan out, but I just started listing the Stamkos at a more reasonable price and I have been getting offers. All I'm looking to do is break even at this point. It was worth a shot to try to make gains on it, but those damn special cards are just too flakey.

I've been offered a TOTW Jeff Carter and a Movember Zetterberg (separate offers)...but the resale on those seems sketchy too. One guy earlier offered me a regular Stamkos, a POTG Zajac and 75,000 coins. I almost took it just to get out of the special card game...but I'd still be out like 100,000 coins doing that. I'm going to just keep throwing him up on auction and hope something closer to 600K comes along.

At least it keeps things interesting, haha.

Got an offer a little while ago for a POTG Shea Weber, POTG Corey Schneider, TOTW Johnny Gaudreau, and 207k coins.

I was planning on rebuying Weber to bolster my defense anyway, and the +2 boost to all attributes was pretty appealing.

I then immediately sold Schneider and Gaudreau for 150k total (I was shocked how quickly they sold...I mean, I was about 5k under the lowest available, but again..."special" cards).

So, then I took my profits and bought Bourque and Kurri...and have about 100k left.

My team is ridiculous, lol. Everybody I play is going to call me an asshole bought team. :lol:

Haha, j/k. Fortunately, I finished that collection before he was added, so I didn't have to deal with that. If you're having a hard time getting him, I can buy one, let you borrow him, and then just resell him when we're done. Let me know.

I should say, I would want to get him relisted quick though. These new guys they added have crazy fluctuating prices that basically vary depending on the special pack that's out. Right now...supply is low on almost everybody again. But as soon as the next player pack rolls around, it's going to make prices drop like a rock.

Has anybody played much offline Be A Pro this year? Because I just started it...and it might be the worst of all the modes. I decided to start out in Juniors and even on Pro difficulty, the CPU boost is the biggest bunch of crap I've ever seen.

My teammates are morons, just skating away from the puck. While the CPU team is rocketing passes and scoring one timers. I'm playing left wing and I'm beating my defensemen down the ice to make sure icing is called. At one point, I stopped skating and just started gliding, and I still caught up with them. I get that these are low level players (and my guy is only a 61)...but good grief.

This was the final stat line...

And yes, I scored all 4 of my team's goals. In all modes, on all levels...this is what EA thinks is a fair game.

Haha, I can see that. And Oreos are delicious, so that works too.

I actually thought about the "t" being redundant...but it sounds weird saying "Nate orious". I feel like the emphasis in the word is on the "t", so saying it that way to me feels more natural. Plus I thought it was amusing for the "8" to legitimately replace the "o". But now i just wish I had made it "N8Oreos"

It seems like the game is basically perfect. The biggest complaint was disappointment that you can't drive coast to coast because the entire country isn't done yet. Um...America...kinda big, lol. Gonna take some time.

The other thing the reviewer points out is that it's "too similar" to Euro Truck. To me, that's another positive. What SCS accomplished with ETS2 is incredible. Why would they change anything? I can't imagine anybody who enjoyed ETS2 not enjoying ATS because it's "more of the same". That's kind of the point, haha.

3) It feels more like Fallout than Fallout 4 does

Obviously there’s no shooting and looting, but when you’re in Nevada, that sense of travel of across an idealised, unpopulated America is far more potent than in Fallout 3 or 4. The empty-beautiful desert environments, the giant, cheesy roadside signs, the adorably unironic doughnut shops, the gradual shift from natural wasteland to hick towns to big cities, the space. The journey. Hey, there’s even a little roleplaying: taking on jobs, earning experience points to spend on bonuses like more efficient fuel consumption or being allowed to carry hazardous goods, and the eventual creation of a trucking empire. I’ll take that over doing odd-jobs for the Minutemen any day.

4) The cars are great

The American iconography approach extends to road traffic too. From bloated 60s cruisers to winnebagos, from UPS vans to black’n’white patrolcars, it’s the America you want and expect. I have no idea if it’s exaggerated, and I don’t care. It’s right, dammit.

5) You get Optimus Prime right away

In Truck Simulator tradition, you start off with no money and no truck of your own, just access to a rental truck with which to perform your first haulage job and start saving up for a big wheeler of your own. I’d gone in sadly presuming that it would be hours before I could get myself a big, cherry-red Optimus Prime truck to call my own, because that’s how games work, but right off the bat it offered me a crimson Peterbilt for my inaugural journey. So happy. Admittedly, classic 80s Optimus was a flat-fronted Kenworth K100 cab over truck, and the Peterbilt incarnation is more associated with the end of culture Michael Bay movies, but hey, close enough. And anyway Generation 2 Optimus did it decades before Bay did. YES I KNOW NO-ONE ELSE CARES ABOUT THIS.

Hey...I got Van Riemsdyk in my reward pack too...the shitty one from Chicago, lol. Nothing of use in either of my packs. Rare contract card was probably the most valuable thing I pulled.

Any ideas/plans for tonight?

Me too considering he is a non tradeable and I hate him so I just deleted him. I'm also saving Datsyuk for anybody who wants to finish Detroit.
 
Man...Pacific division playing some d-bag hockey, lol. Cherry picking like crazy. They're just throwing the puck out from the goalie for breakaways. It's all those damn Canadians with that "I play for the W" attitude. Or maybe they just really need that million dollars because...you know...Canada. :lol:

Gotta say, the goaltending for the entire Western conference is shit though. Same thing happened with the skills competition yesterday. Luongo/Holtby completely outclassed Rinne/Quick. And Bishop/Schneider is world's better than Dubnyk/Gibson. It's really not even fair, haha.

Wow...these Pacific division guys. Sedin chips at Dubnyk to get a goal and Scott throws a hit on Kane in the first game. Now in the second game, Sedin trips Subban on an odd man rush and Hall crashes into Bishop, requiring a coach's challenge to wave off a goal.

I guess it's easy to play all out when everybody else is holding back. Kind of wish Subban would lay Sedin the fuck out.

 
So...I, uh...well, I just got on HUT, and decided to listen to Gary and do a "shitty team collection". I remembered that the National teams only require the jerseys and logo...of which I had none for anybody. So, I bought team Austria's home and away jerseys for 150 coins each and was able to snag the logo for 2,250 coins. Collection complete. 1x silver pack rewarded.

I opened the pack...and this happened...

I immediately burst into hysterical laughter and have not been able to stop. Seriously...better than every single card I pulled in 254 gold reward packs, 10 pre-order bonus gold packs, 2 New Year's free packs, and 2 All-Star weekend free packs.

Just like Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park...Gary finds a way. HOLY BALLS! :whee:
