Haha, I don't want to know what my name means when I'm not around. It better not have anything to do with farm animals...

Also, now I'm curious. What game are you telling Microsoft sucked camel dick?
RBI Baseball. I should feel shame, but I was desperate for a baseball game. I wound up playing it twice, proving how much it sucked in the first place.

lol...I guess I can feel good that at least that one didn't trick me. I hear you though. Sports gaming is pretty pathetic these days. When I was screwing around in MLB 2K4 the other day, I thought about all of the baseball games that came out that year. There was:

MLB 2K4

MVP 2004

All-Star Baseball 05

MLB Slugfest: Loaded

MLB 2005

And if you go back one more year, you have all of those series plus High Heat Baseball 2004. Now there is one baseball game...on one system (and I'm not counting RBI in the same way I didn't count Backyard Baseball, haha). Times have changed, man.

A new interesting scenario presented itself today. I read on the Gamestop trade in thread that they've started their holiday return policy already. This means that even on used games, if you buy them now, you have until 1/15 to return them for a full refund. So, I could buy NHL 15, wait and see if EA ever adds anything worthwhile, and have until 1/15 to decide if I want to keep it. The idea of simultaneously toying with EA and Gamestop has me intrigued, haha.

You do realize you are basing your opinions about the One completely on EA games right ;)

There are good games out there like Horizon and Shadow of Mordor.

Yeah, I'm excited to play Shadow of Mordor. I have it coming from Gamefly. Also, Watchdogs is pretty good too. As is Garden Warfare.

Agree to disagree with you Rob. Watch Dogs was really shitty. All the build up and it just fell flat. However, Mordor is great with the rival system and Aliens is amazing. It uses the kinect so nicely. Tracks head movement and listens for sounds. I was in the locker and moved my head and the Alien came back and killed me. It scared the crap out of me but was so awesome. I can't wait for The Evil Within next week.

lol...you guys just named 3 games that are on PC and 1 that has numerous competitors that I can play with better input devices. I thought you were making a pro-console argument, haha.

Honestly,. I'm not really seeing any stellar trade in deals right now anyway. And it looks like if I sold it on Amazon, I'd be lucky to come out with $290 after fees and shipping. And Craigslist is how people get shot. Unless a better opportunity comes up, playing with house money and getting NHL 15 might be the easiest option.

How dare you disagree with me Gary! This means war! Or ya know, whatever.

Seriously though, I just started playing Watchdogs, so I think I skipped out on the hype. Also very excited for Aliens, that game looks tense as all hell.

I liked Watch Dogs...but I think part of the reason it fell flat is because that original E3 footage was from a very high end PC. Then they had to scale it back to something that would realistically work on consoles and PCs that regular people could afford. There is a mod for it now that makes it actually look how they originally showed it though. But it was a shitty way to build hype for the game.

I just got back from Gamestop, where the manager I'm friendly with gave me a preorder Ultimate Team code. I'm continuing to stick it to EA haha!

3 games that I would rather play on a console. I'm just not a fan of pc anymoe (and their fucking hardcore fans either, #idiotmasteracebullshit). Want to play a new game, better plop down another 120 for a graphics card, nope I'm good. So with that, my gaming pc is gone. Sold it yesterday for an easy $1000.

It was over hyped sadly Rob. I was excited and then the story fell flat and then the gameplay and the multi player. Just all fell apart so quickly.

However, can't wait for Sunset Overdrive this month.

Oh I'm not saying it wasn't overhyped. I'm saying that for me it wasn't, since I largely ignored it. Got it from Gamefly two weeks ago (and kept it for $15) and I'm enjoying it. Finished a mission without firing a shot, yet still killed several guards and hacked into what I needed remotely. Things like that are fun.

Ha, here you go, Alan. PC community kicking ass again. Apparently, Alien: Isolation DOES have Rift support. It's just turned off by default. I have no idea why they weren't confident enough to include it in the actual game. But yeah, edit a couple lines of text and it has native support with full positional tracking.

http://www.pcgamer.com/alien-isolation-can-support-oculus-rift-with-a-few-ini-edits/
Sweet. I actually picked it up with a GMG coupon, so it will be awesome to try with the rift. Just hope it looks a lot better than ETS2, otherwise I might play it on a regular monitor.

And I don't mean to start a war, but I do think that objectively, PC gaming is a better long term investment. Yeah, a graphics card might be 3-4 hundred, but you don't have to buy one every year; hell, even 5+ year old cards can still churn out the same quality, and more importantly, same framerate as modern games. Hell, most console games are still barely pushing past 720p at 30fps. A 5 year old pc more than likely can still do better than that. The higher initial cost is usually made up with lower prices for games, and mods support which adds longevity to existing games.

I had some trouble getting it working with the DK2, but once it did work...holy crap, it's awesome. It's basically exactly what you were wanting. A real, full game, that legitimately makes good use of the Rift. The only caveat I currently have is the positional tracking is crashing the game for some reason. It seems to be a common problem according to Reddit though.

http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/2iirut/help_break_alien_isolation_open_and_enable/?sort=new

All I did to "fix" it was just turn my camera around so it didn't detect the DK2. This means you don't get the ability to lean in or peek around corners...but to get it running at all, I was willing to forgo that. Hopefully somebody will figure out the crashing soon though.

As for any nausea inducing moments, that's hard to say because you are walking around and turning yourself with the right stick, of course. Best I can say is what I talked about before. Just try to use the head tracking for small movements or looking around while standing still. and use the controller as you normally would for the bulk of your navigation (keeping your head mostly still). That, or take a dramamine before playing, haha. :)

Nice! You'll have to post if you get any really good pulls. I know for me they have been pretty hit or miss. It seems like of the two I get each week, one will be a pretty good haul and the other will be pretty standard.

Is that the same thing, though? Not suggesting you're wrong; just legitimately uncertain. While pre-ordering Madden netted me 2 packs each week for a while, I only got 2 packs total for NHL.

I have only played the EA Access trial version of NHL, but Best Buy sent me the preorder bonus code email and I cashed it in a few weeks back. Wasn't sure if different retailers offered different bonuses, or if you were thinking of the Ultimate Edition of the game.

$35 NHL 15 from GameStop that doesn't give a dime to EA and I can return until January 14th if I start hating myself even more. I guess that's about as good as I could do. Now to play with myself...in the game, I mean... Yeah, in the game...

I've pretty much been getting exclusively LD (at least, the good players). What I've been doing is just getting players from the auction house. For roughly 4,000 coins I've bought Derek Stepan, Artem Anisimov, Chris Kreider and Dan Girardi.

How dare you people with your misinformation. You can shoot the puck after the whistle...to which Doc Emrick says "Whoa...he won't avoid something for doing that." Yes...that is what he actually says. I'm going to try again and see if he'll say anything better, lol.

EDIT - Shot #2 after the whistle. "No team worth its name is going to let that go."

I'm starting to miss "Hey! Hey! HEY!!! You can't do that!" It had a certain Mr. Belding ring to it.

But more importantly, NHL 14 tonight?
Also, Yeah, I'll be on in about an hour.

So is OTP still coming this month?
Good question. I haven't read anything about it, so I have no idea.

I have to say after finally playing the full game, they are out of their damn minds if they thought the game was worth $60. There's seriously just nothing to do. Part of me feels like I'm going to spend more time with HUT just by default because not much else is there. And maybe that's what EA wanted. But yeah...even the $35 I paid feels like a stretch for the gamemodes that are there.

Depending on where you pre-ordered it varied in regards to that bonus.
Gamestop gave "$20 in HUT packs" and everywhere else dud $15. The HUT edition (which it sounds like Jza got) was a $30 value in HUT listed as 2 packs per week for 26 weeks.

On a funny sidenote... When I put in my HUT code I was at my brother's house and we were both logged in. I put the code under my GT and now they give both of us packs. Which is really nice since you can trade the cards from HUT and pre-order packs now.

Assetto Corsa Retail Version with DK2 support will be launching very soon...and it looks pretty damn incredible.

Dear Assetto Corsa fans

We know that in the last few weeks we have been very silent, but there was a valid reason; all our resources and everybody in the dev team have been working real hard in order to finish Assetto Corsa and to prepare a preview Release Candidate version to journalists from all around the world. On September 29, we organized an exclusive event at Kunos Simulazioni headquarters inside "Autodromo di Vallelunga". Over 130 journalists have participated in our event, organized with the precious collaboration of Fanatec, NVIDIA, rSEAT, RSR-Nurburg, Media consultants and Ibuz.com. At the end of the scheduled press conference, during which we illustrated all Assetto Corsa features and the complex development process, our guests got the opportunity to try the release candidate preview of Assetto Corsa in 4 simulators with the latest Fanatec Clubsport Wheel V.2. Additionally, guests could try an amazing rSEAT RS1 M4A Full motion simulator, Fanatec Clubsport Wheel V.2 and pedals and Oculus Rift DK2 . So yes, we know you've been waiting for it, Assetto Corsa supports Oculus DK2!

We could have ended the day there and it would have been a cool typical videogame presentation, but you know we breath motorsport and so we wanted a much more immersive experience for our guests. At the Vallelunga circuit pitlane, 15 real Sportcars that are also included in Assetto Corsa, were available for test drive! We wanted to demonstrate and let our guests compare the fidelity of our simulator with a direct comparison to reality. We will soon post footage, photos and more info about the event, but first let us share with you the info about Assetto Corsa.

First of all, let us thank you for the incredible support we got to this amazing project and to our software house, by participating in the Early Access program. Lot's of you have been following this project and our work for a little bit less than a year and probably do not know that when we decided to create and announce Assetto Corsa in 2011, we were thinking to include in version 1.0, a total amount of 15 cars and 3 to 4 italian circuits. Today, Assetto Corsa 1.0 includes circuits like Monza, NurburgringGP, Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps and more. All of them created with the use of Laserscan technology. It also includes incredible cars, produced by the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, Pagani, Mercedes, BMW, Alfa Romeo and much more.

Even more circuits and cars are under development and will be released after version1.0 of Assetto Corsa. Lot's of those new contents will be free add-ons! This is our way to say thank you for the support you have given us.
Grazie!

Assetto Corsa Release Candidate will be published in the following days. We're working with the feedback of our internal beta-testing team, in order to iron out bugs and improve features. The Release Candidate version has substantial differences from the current Steam Early Access version. New features and improvements to the graphics engine, a brand new sound engine based on FMOD Studio that guarantees more immersion, reverb effects and the ability to control a whole new series of additional effects. A complete remake of all the sounds of every single car has been necessary; an incredible amount of work for our sound engineer.

Some of the features of the new graphics engine, have been already included in the early access build release at the end of the summer. The fantastic videos and screenshots released by the community have shown the a great appreciation of the new engine, but the best is yet to come. Assetto Corsa v1.0 will include heat shimmering, lens flare, God-rays, depth of field improvements, FXAA, tone mapping and more. Every single post processing effect can be activated from the graphics options in order to give you the freedom to configure Assetto Corsa to your specific needs, both in terms of visual quality and performance scalability. Assetto Corsa guarantees adequate frame rate performances, from the most powerful PCs, to the minimum requested hardware configuration. As a matter of fact, the new release also includes support for 4K resolution, static reflections for low performance PCs, dust and dirt on cars, improved smoke and particles, new pilot 3D model that is more detailed and realistic, and collidable objects on circuits.

Assetto Corsa Release Candidate also includes damage to the car bodies, wings, suspensions, engine, gearbox and tyres. Tyres in particular can now simulate blistering, graining, flat spots and blow ups. Because of all these simulated damages and your always important requests, we work hard to include a feature that we are sure will make everybody excited. Pitstops! We have implemented pitstops with animated cinematic pitcrew. Assetto Corsa v1.0 pitstops implementation will support only multiplayer races, but we're working hard to include single player pitstops in one of our next free updates. The delay on the single player implementation, is caused by the need to define and balance the AI pitstop strategy during races.

Assetto Corsa v1.0 is not the end of the journey. More contents and features are being developed and we will inform you about them in the following days. In the mean time, here is the list of the new contents that you will find in Assetto Corsa Release Candidate:

The Lotus 2-11 GT4 and Lotus Exige S, as well as a unique version of the Evora GTE featuring all body panels made entirely of carbonfibre and substantial weight savings.

The much anticipated Ferrari 458 GT2 and Mercedes-Benz SLS GT3.

Ferrari LaFerrari which includes in Assetto Corsa a very advanced simulation of hybrid systems.

Silverstone National and the legendary SPA-Francorchamps recreated in extreme detail using Laserscan technology.

A surprise new entry that also showcases the close connection of Assetto Corsa dev team with the community. We're extremely happy to announce the Carroll-Shelby Cobra 427SC as an official licensed content.

We had plans to include this car in our officially licensed content, but we were surprised and impressed by the work of a great modder that published some amazing screenshots of his work. His mod has took the community by storm and has been highly appraised by everybody. This convinced us that we had to do something about it. We contacted Carrol-Shelby and got the official license and at the same time we worked with the modder and acquired his work. So here it is, the Shelby Cobra 427SC as a free bonus content for Assetto Corsa 1.0. Obviously the already graet physics have been re-implemented, the graphics and sound assets have been updated and are now completely compatible with Assetto Corsa new graphics and sound engine.

We think this is a great tribute to the modder's outstanding work and a compliment and appreciation to the work of the hundreds of modders that are actively supporting Assetto Corsa.

Please enjoy some in-game screenshots directly from the Release Candidate that will be published as soon as possible.

Again, thank you for the great support!

That one was definitely on my "reason to own an XB1" list. How Kinect movement dependent is it? That's the only obstacle I've got right now is I have my XB1 set up at my desk, where I do most of my gaming...as opposed to the living room, where the Kinect 1 is set up. I guess I could just leave the Kinect 2 set up in there as well, and just move my XB1 when I want to play a Kinect game. But so far, I've been too lazy to do that, haha.

Alan, I ended up finding a 23% off coupon in my email they sent about Alien: Isolation that worked with other games so I ended up picking up the new Borderlands and the season pass.  Ended up getting both for about what the game itself would have cost me.

Cool, I'll have to play with the various codes to see if I can get oneto work.

I haven't gotten that far in Alien, simply because I've been trying to play it 100% on the rift. Sometimes I can only play it for like 20 minutes because I still get motion sickness, other times I have to stop playing it because... well... the atmosphere is really immersive and the tension is just too much, and I have to take a break. If horror is your thing, I would hop on it, but if it isn't, I would wait for a price drop which will probably happen like soon since it's a single player game.

How are you guys liking Alien? I have some Playstation gift cards I got as a gift and was thinking about picking it up on PS4.
I think it's fantastic if you enjoy suspense and tension. I think most of the negative things people have said about it come from expectations of an action-oriented FPS. And the thing is...Sega has tried that before with Alien and those games were awful. Isolation is much more like "Oh shit. I'm trapped. What do I do???" and much more rooted in stealth.

I've also seen some complaints of "the alien is hardly in it". And that's also stupid because you hear it almost constantly, and once you get the motion tracker, you can actually figure out where it is. And if you wanted to just run around making a bunch of noise, it will find you...and it will kill you. So, not seeing it all the time is kind of a good thing, because otherwise, you'd be running and hiding almost the entire game. And if you could kill it...well, the end, lol.

And it's not like it's completely devoid of combat. There are humans and other things that wish to do you harm. You get melee items, a gun, and things you can craft. But you're not a super-soldier either...and are usually better off avoiding conflict. For me, the atmosphere of the game is outstanding. It keeps you on edge almost all the time. The sound effects are great and can really just creep you the hell out. And the orchestral score will really screw with you too. Sometimes it's cause for panic and sometimes it isn't, haha.

Overall, I get really tired of "horror" games that rely on jump scares the entire damn game (I hate when movies do it too). To me, that's not scaring. That's startling...and it's a cheap way to get a reaction. "Oh, something popped out at me and a loud noise played that would not come from anything in the environment. So scary..." So, when a game comes along that legitimately just makes me feel creeped out and uneasy, I appreciate it a little more. Isolation is much more like a slow burn of suspense. But it's really well done.

Alan makes a good point too though...on PC, I didn't pay full price (got it for close to $30). I don't know that I'd pay $60 for it...but I say that about almost everything, haha. But if that credit is burning a hole in your pocket and you're a big Alien fan, I couldn't see being disappointed with it. There's a lot of fan service in it and it does a great job paying homage to the original films.

And keep it up, Alan! It's also my goal to beat it completely on the Rift as my first real legit VR game. According to Steam, I've put 7.5 hours into it so far. But who knows how much of that was sitting around in menus. Based on the achievements, it looks like I'm about 1/3 of the way through the missions though.

Hey Gary, sorry I didn't see your message on XBL until like a couple hours later. I was back and forth from my XB1 a lot last night, and I was trying to figure out if there's any reasonable way to earn coins in HUT.

I only got one pack from my time last year, so my team is pretty terrible. My starting goalie was like a 60 OVR, so I just played a game, took a beating, earned like 950 coins, and then bought 86 OVR Brian Elliott for 800 coins.

Collections in HUT are still screwy though. It seems like a lot of the European and Junior League players go for more than NHL players. I get that some of them are in smaller collections and that drives the price up, but it still creates a weird dynamic.

The best strategy I could see was trying to complete the national team collections...which are just the logo and jerseys, getting the pack rewards, and then selling those players to build up coins. Getting 1,000 coins per game isn't bad...but the games still feel pretty insignificant.

Decent strategy Nate but you can't sell/trade the reward players. On the other hand, the National reward pack is bronze which yields 4 rare players. I got Cam Ward from completing the Poland one. Perhaps we can share the logos and jerseys to finish it faster.

You mean even that Cam Ward you couldn't sell? So all cards that are earned through completed collections are not able to be sold/traded? That's crazy. I did see one interesting video on Youtube on "flipping consumables". I might try that if it's not a pain in the ass. Though, honestly, I feel like I'm mostly just doing this to kill time while waiting on the opening night roster update so I can start a Be A GM and also waiting on the OTP update. Ultimate Team never holds my interest that long anyway.

But yeah...sharing resources would be cool with me. In a way, it's pretty dumb that they allow that because it makes everything ripe for abuse. But I guess this is NHL we're talking about. At least in Madden, once you put the player in the collection, the card is locked permanently. I also don't like that you can't scroll through collections in NHL to see what cards you're missing like you can in Madden. You kind of just have to figure it out yourself.

Yeah, I like that in Madden you can also click on a card to go right to available auctions too.

Anyway, I did Team Italy and that one was less productive, as all I got were bronze players/consumables/team stuff. Still, they are easy to do. I have all of Team Italy and Team Poland. Let me know what you need from that and I can put them up at an insanely high price for trade.
