Official Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver thread of 10 year nostalgia rush
sorry for making you wait so long.

thanks again for the treeko
No worries. I was just folding some laundry, and kept the DS open so I wouldn't miss you.
Thanks, is there anything in particular you want?

My code is 4855 8720 0179 if you want to add me.
Added you. If you're around, I can meet you online.

Any chance you have a Misdreavus, Smeargle, Spinarak, or Raichu? No biggie if you don't. I'll be happy to give you the Chikorita.
Man this is lame, been trying to catch this red Gyrados as adamant for about 6 hours now. (Between all of my playtime yesterday and today.)

Does my lead pokemons nature have anything to do with the odds of the wild pokemon having it?
Well, it doesn't have anything to do with it unless your lead pokemon has the ability Synchronize. A lead pokemon with the ability Synchronize will increase the chance of running to a wild pokemon with the same nature as it.

So, if it doesn't, then no, you're just not getting lucky.
Thanks for the Tyrogue, Prinny.

I've got Totodile, Cyndaquil, Chikorita, Treeko, Torchic, Mudkip, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmanders for anyone that wants them. Also some Eevees.
What natures are your Mudkips, and are they male or female? I have a thunderstone I can trade you so you can evolve a pikachu on your own.

I only have 3 Mudkips right now. They're all male, and their natures are Timid, Docile, and Gentle.

I'd be interested in the Docile Mudkip. I also have a Spinarak, would you trade a treecko?

I'm really surprised how many eggs I've gotten. So far, only 30ish pokemon in, I've gotten an egg from everything I've put with my Ditto. Good thing too, as I wanted a level 1 Abra, the tree guy you get with waterbottle, and a Growlithe (since I've got Gold). Now to get the last 2 eggs to hatch.

That sounds cool. I can meet you online. I'm about to get online for Sir Frag, so maybe we can meet there.

Sounds good. I'll get online and wait for you.

Everything breeds with Ditto, I believe. I never have any problems. Legendaries are out, of course, but everything else seems happy to make babies.

i was breeding pokemon with my ditto too and it was going fine for a long time but then the day care guy said that they didnt seem to like each other much.
so i put in one of the pokemon i put in before and he said the same thing again.

is my ditto tired of making eggs or whats wrong?
is there a limit to how many times i can use a ditto to breed

Nah, sometimes some pokemon don't like each other much, it just tends to taker longer for them to breed, but they will, I mean I'd assume with nothing to do but stand around in that small enclosure they eventually give into their pokeanimalistic needs.

I've noticed that. I really want to get all my pokemon at level 1, for an odd reason. So I plan to do this with everyone that I can. Already have my starter reproduced, but really want to get the others at level 1 too. But that will be a bit later, unless I can get ahold of another fire-type.

If the old man says that "the two prefer to play with other pokemon", then you know you CANT get an egg by breeding those two together. All other responses tell you how FAST/SLOW you'll get one.

That's...an interesting goal. A real time-sucker. I wouldn't have the patience for that one.

No worries. I was busy doing other computery stuff and just left it on, figuring you'd come on at some point. Thanks for the trade.

Damn that is a long time! D4rkewolfe is right.
You should probably breed/catch Abra for an Adamant one with Synchronize. Once you get that, getting an Adamant Gyarados will be a breeze!
I recently obtained my Adamant Gyarados with decent IV's.
Good luck with yours.

question, whats a good way to get pokemon to level 100?
ive only played 3 pokemon games and the highest ive ever gone was 56 with groudon in ruby.

with soul silver im going to try to get at least one of them to 100.

i thought about just fighting the elite 4 over and over again but is there another way?

You can get an Abra at the Goldenrod game corner. I suggest earning enough coins to buy one (shouldn't take long), and saving before purchasing it. Keep soft resetting L+R+start+select until you get an Adamant one with the Synchronize ability. Enjoy!

I remember in the original gold and silver you could fight a friend's pokemon team in a specific area in Kanto. I can't remember if you got exp for those battles or not.

Got all the gym leaders' numbers today for rematches, except for Blue. Not sure, but I may have screwed my chances for getting his number by manipulating my DS clock a bit too much (Daisy won't give my Pokemon any more massages).

Aaaand, I just realized why I stopped playing so long ago. There needs to be some better metagame, getting 493 every single iteration is pointless overkill.

Got my Bold Lugia completely EV'ed and L100; aside from competitive there's nothing to do... zzz.

I'm like you. Because I don't battle competitively, I never have a reason to train my Pokémon that high. Later in the game when money isn't an issue, you could always drop Pokémon off at the Day-Care for a while, or get super transfer-happy with the Pokéwalker. My husband likes Jigglypuff so much, he's always in the Pokéwalker, so he'll probably be my one level 100 Pokémon. ;)

But that is pretty much only if they are not in the same egg group or baby pokemon or legendaries.

Otherwise a Ditto won't say no. He's the true bicycle of the pokemon world!

You know, for the first time ever, I have the strangest urge to...catch 'em all... I wish there was a single Pokémon game with ALL the Pokémon ever, but that's so never going to happen.

Ive gotten all the pokemon on Diamond which took a lot of training and i had a lot of gba games back then.

kIller Calvin- Zubat is fine in the pokebox. Dont know what to do with him. I dont want a pink Crobay. Maybe Ill trade him. I do like my Green Beedrill with blue eyes thx to D4K.

Ive only got 2 pokemon to lv 100.
Flareon- he was my training pokemon to lv up other pokemon.
Linoone- I love Pick Up

I have decided to strap my pokewalker to my Wiimote to collect steps for me for an hour before I leave. Usually I wont do this but fuck, I tried 40 times last night to find a surfing/flying pikachu with no luck getting a !!! in the pokeradar.

A pink Shiny Pokémon? *squeals* Maybe if I get ahold of a Shiny we can trade. I've been checking for Shinies on the GTS lately.

How does strapping your Pokéwalker to your Wii Remote help you get steps?

Also, I'm pretty sure you can get a Surfing Pikachu without getting to !!!. !! can do it. It just seems the Surfing variation is rarer than the Flying.

I can't believe my luck. Right after I posted about wanting that Shiny Zubat, I searched on the GTS for one, and there was totally one there! They wanted any Charmander, so I quickly bred mine and dashed back to the GTS, delighted the Shiny Zubat was still there.

I. HAVE. A. SHINY!!!

(And no, the Shiny Gyrados doesn't count.;))

So there are totally a fair number of Shinies on the GTS. Just saw an amazing Gold Geodude, but they wanted a level 80+ Aggron. And another person has a Gold Geodude and wants Shaymin.
the thing about GTS shinny is that they could be gamesharked
Does it really matter if you don't play competitively? Looking at the stats and all, it seems legit. Caught at level 16.

Wow, if you set a Shiny to follow you, it follows you in its Shiny form. So instead of a purple Zubat, I have a green one.

:whee:

It is pretty funny how excited you are about the shiny. :)

There are a few pokemon who's shiny form I like, but since I use specific natures, the chances I can get ones with the exact nature I want are very low. Besides, in all my playing, the Red Gyarados is still the only shiny I have ever seen in the wild, and that one doesn't even count.

What I like about Pokémon is how many different ways there are to play. If I don't care too much about stats and just want to play with Pokémon I've never played with each time, I can do that. If I want to go out of my way to have folks trade me Pokémon they named for me, I can do that too. If my only level 100 Pokémon will probably be a Jigglypuff by the end of the game because my husband keeps wanting it in the Pokéwalker which he takes with him to work, I can do that as well.

As for the Shiny Gyrados, I don't count a Shiny the game gave me, either. Although I think I might have seen a Shiny Swablu in Ruby, that's about it in the Shiny Department. The addition of the GTS was such a welcome addition for me, as I have no one else to trade with locally, and I didn't keep any Advance games after I graduated to the DS.

Am I the only one who is spending a lot of time on Egg move? Feraligatr is a lot more useful when it can do Dragon Rage and Ice Punch

You make a level in brawl where all you do is fall up and down spikes and it's enclosed so you don't die and the rumble makes the counter go up. Also you can catch surfing pikachu with !! I caught one today with only !!.

This is a secret phrase generator for the DS Pokemon games. I'm surprised I didn't know about this.
Anyway put in your ID number, it generates terms which you can tell Primo and stuff gets unlocked mainly eggs and wallpapers.
Wow, this is wonderful! I was wondering what those blank wallpapers were! Thanks so much for letting us know about this. I'm unlocking things now. :bouncy:
