Official Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver thread of 10 year nostalgia rush

So my official shiny count is 6. Five traded one i actually caught.
Arcanine
Frolass
Beedrill
Zubat
Gardevoir- should have made Gallade
Houndoom

Gonna go check the GTS
 
UTO- to raise your Feebas to Milotic take it to Reds sister after you beat red and after i think 8 massages it will evolve. Ill check it out.
 
In Pearl I caught a shiney Cleffa that I never did anything with. I also caught a shiney adamant Gyarados, named him Rufus, and EV trained him into somewhat competitive shape. I was kind of bummed out when I remembered that once the Silver/Gold remakes came out that shiney Gyradoses would be common.

I don't have one. I don't even remember if you can get them in Platinum. All I know is when I caught one in some past Pokémon game and fed it certain berries to raise it's beauty stat, I was soooo annoyed when I could never make that dern thing evolve.

I'd like to try again, but I don't have access to a Feebas right now, nor am I that far in the game. Have yet to defeat the 8th gym.

Yeah, Shiny Gyradoses used to be a big deal. Now, pffft.

These guys have done great work. If it weren't for them I wouldn't have gotten my custom wallpapers in Emerald. I think it's terrible these generators have not appeared on the Pokemon website and probably never will.
 
Hey everyone I currently have a lvl. 24 Kadabra , my questions are : " What level should I do the trade to evolve it to an alakazam " , " are there advantages for waiting for it to be higher level before trading to get alakazm " ?? thanks if you can help :p

It will learn the same moves if it evolves, but I may level up slower. I would go as long as possible as a Kadabra, and then level up later. Either way is fine though!
 
Does anyone want to try battling me? All my guys are around lvl 52-78 and I think we can auto-level them to 50 or 100 if we battle over wifi. PM me sometime soon!

AA4- In my opinion its best to evolve him as soon as he evolves, as its stats are better. the leveling up is fairly fast since hes a psychic and can take most pokemon down. I say evolve him as soon as you can.

So yesterday my Swarm pokemon was Chansey as was trying to use Theif to find a Lucky Egg and no luck.

PS- Kadabra and Alakzam learns moves at the same time.
Also if you post in the same thread alot your sig will not always show up.

Got a Pikachu thanks to GTS. Just a normal, but I had an abundance of Gastly to trade for it. Now to trade my Kadabra.

Right away. Alakazam learns every move Kadabra does at the same level, except at level 36 it learns Calm Mind instead of Role Play. There is no benefit to keeping Kadabra un-evolved unless you want Role Play.

So theoretically, if I could get a level 1 Kadabra (just recently got an egg....I think), I could have a level 1 Alakazam via trade? Am I right in my thinking? And if so, I'll be looking to trade atleast one at some point in the not too distant future.
 
the egg would contain an Abra, and it doesn't really matter when you evolve it. Like people said, the EXP needed to level up will increase, but it will be stronger.

That being said... if you evolve a Kadabra -> Ala at Lv16 and then level it up to 100, it's gonna have the same stats as if you evolved a Kadabra -> Ala at Lv100. You're not "losing" stats if you evolve it later. When it finally does evolve, its stats will be adjusted to reflect its new form.

Thanks for the input. So the only difference is one skill over another. I still think I'll end up trading an Kadabra once I get the egg to it. Too bad I can't get an offspring level 1 Kadabra. =\

Yeah, I'm sure we can meet up tomorrow. As for versions, I thought we both had SoulSilver? I got Mankey from the GTS and Gligar someone here on CAG sent me.
 
Spent an hour or so on the GTS tonight and traded for about 10-12 Pokémon I had seen in the game but not caught yet. I was amazed to find so many fair trades tonight. Also, I keep putting Totodiles up for trade, asking for Pokémon that are marginally harder to get. It's nice having other folks helping me fill my Pokédex.

I traded 3 level 1 Piplups for 3 Shaymin on Platinum GTS, and also traded level 1 pokemon for a level 100 Electivire and level 100 shiny Mespirit, lol. Once I had all the pokemon I wanted from the GTS I would just put up baby starter pokemon and not check the GTS for a week, then check it and usually have the super rare pokemon I was asking for. Also, I'd usually put up female level 1 pokemon that I did not want while I was egg move breeding. Females seem to be a lot more in demand than males, so the odds of scoring your super rare pokemon for it are increased!

Catch a Jynx in the Ice Cave or get a Lapras in Safari Zone. You'll have to do a whole lot of leveling up, but they work fine.
 
When does the Pal Park open up in HG/SS ? I just got the 8th badge and am about to fight the Kimono girls.

Right now I only have Pal Park open in Platinum, and it's a pain to go from GBA to Plat, then trade Plat to HG.

I want to get some Slugma from Emerald into HG so I can cut Egg hatching steps in half.

I'm playing through Emerald to get Pokes to Pal Park into the current games to help complete my Dex. If anyone is looking for anything specific from Emerald, let me know and I'll keep my eye out for it. I already have some Skarmory's and Sableeyes. as well as Slugmas.

Pisses me off that your bag gets full so easily in the GBA games. I had to give items to all the pokes in my PC just to make room in the bag for more items, and it's not even that full.

Lapras learns Ice Beam at level 32. That is the best Ice attack in the game.

In HG/SS, you can get Magby easy from the Pokéwalker, and the Burned Tower has Magmar. If you want, I have a spare Magmar I can give you.

I'd be glad to accept just about anything from Emerald for my Pokédex. Any chance you have a spare Seviper or Absol? Or just a Seedot or Poochyena?

Do you know which Pokewalker route has Magmar? I've been chasing flying Pikachu's for days it seems. I will also check the burned tower when I get home.

I don't have any Seviper or Absol yet, but I only have 3 badges so far. But I'm catching 3-4 of every Poke I see, so I will def be ready to trade soon. I do have Seedot and Poochyena of course, lol.
 
Puffa, you can cathc Magby on Rugged Road and Magmar in the Safari Zone. Thats where I caught mine.

Was on the GTS yesterday and traded by Female Burmy for a Male Burmy. Also got a Sunkern and some other odds and ends,. Still nothing great. But it does help having starters and thats what most people like and Milotic. Wish it was easier to make.

The Pal Park is in Kanto. So you need to beat the Elite 4 first and head over there to access the Pal Park.

I caught a Pikachu to show Lt. Surge so I can rebattle him. It was holding a Light Ball! I'm glad I decided to catch a new one instead of using one of the Pikachu's I caught in the PokeWalker.

i still haven't gotten the hang of the safari zone shifting. which section would you find lapras in? That seems like a good overall pokemon (Does electricity hurt it a lot or does the ice cancel the water?)

Lapras is in the Rocky Beach area.
