Official Ratchet & Clank Future Thread

After about 3+ hours of Ratchet last night I must say it's easily my favorite PS3 game. The game looks gorgeous, the 7.1 audio is spectacular, and it plays better than just about any 3rd person game on any next-gen system.

A 7.5 score is way off base, and as noted, is the exception to otherwise rave reviews.

Conan is probably one of the worst game's I've ever played. For GameSpot to suggest (with their score chart anyway) that Conan and Ratchet are of similar quality, is ridiculous.

I don't want to rub it in and say you're missing out, but.... ;)

Atleast I have Zelda: PH and Castlevania to keep me occupied, but I'm itching to play this game.

It's a lot of fun, and the comedy is awesome.
I too love the Cryosleep scene.

Got to Planet Fastoon and I'll probably stop for now. I'm loving this game so far.

Completely upgraded my Combustor and my bomb glove's nearly there, too.

When you're

Is from Jak and Daxter.

Coolness.

You mean when you'd
find power cells
? I'll have to keep an ear out for that, since that's where I'm at right now, to see if you're onto something.

Yep, exactly.

When you get the holo invite from Captain Qwark has anyone been getting a name other than Stefan Qwarkanopolis? I've been reading people got different last names so I'm curious if it's true or not

Honeslty, I got a name, but I can't remember what the one I got was.

I know I didn't get that one, I think mine was Qwarkenstein or something like that. Now that you ask I can't remember exactly.

Beat the
arena boss fight on Planet Mukow. I threw a Groovitron during the first stage of the arena fight and Quark's response is hilarious, "Is that the Cabbage Patch? Oh, the humanity!"
The flight stuff before that was pretty good, once I stopped leaving the cursor in the edge of the screen.

I need to get some of these skill points, but I don't see a full list yet. GameFAQs has a thread just full of random ones if you're looking for them.

Penny Arcade did a comic on an inevitable feeling in Ratchet & Clank:

HAHA, yep. I am running out of things I want to upgrade. And nano swarmers = awesome.

Mine was Flannigan McQwarkian.

After playing this game over 7+ hours, all I have to say is the gamespot review is WAY WAY off, and the guy is a moron for not liking the story IMO, I am thoroughly enjoying it.
After playing this game over 7+ hours, all I have to say is the gamespot review is WAY WAY off, and the guy is a moron for not liking the story IMO, I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Yes, cause H.Cornerstone's opinion is what everyone else has to go by. Why can't you get over the review. Who cares if one person reviewing the game didn't like it? Is it ruining your game? Can you not enjoy because those big bad doo-doo heads said something negative about a game you like? Grow up. Quit your crying. Some how, I am still enjoying the game and don't want to put it down, even after the one bad review. You posting on an internet forum isn't going to change anything and you aren't cool for complaining. Yes we know the review doesn't compare to the other scores it is getting from every other reviewing website. Thanks for the update.

Here is a thought, lets talk about what we like about the game and not about how dumb the reviewer is from GameSpot?

I am now on the fourth planet and am having a blast. The camera is still a little wonky at times, but it is not hurting my enjoyment. Awesome game. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a shooting platformer or a fan of the R&C series.

How could they forget the option for inversion with aiming while flying? My only annoyance in game so far and it's a rather big annoyance for me. Good game so far otherwise I think.

Just got my PS3 last night and played the demo this morning. Looks really good and you guys seem to be enjoying the full thing so I know what my next game is going to be as soon as I finish Resistance. :D

Ouch, maybe you should take your own advice?

I don't understand Gamespots complaints of the Gyrocycle. I just did that part and it was pretty fun. Seems like the guy was complaining just to complain.

I kept getting stuck on that part, like he'd run into the walls and freeze and get stuck..

then in another world, he kept falling through the ground
How long did it take?
I wasn't really timing, but I'd say around 10-12 hours..

Had alot of free time, since they cut my hours back at work
Ouch, maybe you should take your own advice?
K. You sure got me.

But I still don't get why people are bitching about a review. Does it really impeed your enjoyment? Did it really make you think twice about getting the game? Can you not have a good time with it knowing that one reviewer didn't care for a game you like? Can we just move along and just not talk about the review? I thought I was at www.cheapassgamer.com forums, not GameFaqs/Spot. When you talk about it, all you are doing is helping them do what they wanted. Maybe you shouldn't let a review dictate how you percive the game by comparing their complaints to how you feel about a game. Why not take your own views and discuss them? They wanted buzz and attention. Congradualtions, they played you like a fiddle. Let it go. Just play the game. Also, I think H.Cornerstone can handle himself, I didn't know he had a little sidekick. This thread has been filled with retarded since the review came out. Someone let me know when it is safe again. Like when we can talk about the game and not about some dumb review.

I got motion sickness from the demo. A problem I normally only associate with the boring areas of first person shooters. A first for a third-person game for me.

So the guy at Gamespot is entitled to post an opinion on the internet but I am not? I am not allowed to say that after playing the game I disagree with what he says? Isn't that the whole point of a forum? And why does it matter? because they one review brings the meta critic score down from a 9.2 to a 8.9, and people will look at that score and see "7.5, this game must be horrible!"

And I was talking about the game, I stated that I was thorougly enjoying and really liked the story contrary to what the gamespot reviewer said. And why am I so angry? Ratchet got the same score as Conan. Enough said.

Anyways, I sort of like the gyrocycle, it was fun but hard to controls sometimes, especially when you have to avoid bombs. The geolaser using the sixaxis is annoying though... but overall, that game is super fun, and I can't wait to beat it. My favorite parts are when you just have to kill a bunch of dudes by any means necessary. The nanoswarmer is overpowered though. :)

And Koggit, I also had some problems, whenever your on a grindrail and it goes from right side up to upside down I would get a little sick.

Ratchet and Conan are not comparable, as they're of different genres.

As for the metacritic average lowering because of one review, there's also an 8 from GameSpy and a 7.5 from Game Revolution that help bring it down, but there's still 22 reviews above or equaling the average while just four below it.

Planet Sargasso's my favorite planet so far.
The giant dinosaurs you climb onto remind me of Shadow of the Colossus, which is cool to see.
I've upgraded most everything I've got right now except for the Nano-swarmers and the Alpha Disruptor, which need a lot of crystals to upgrade. I just got the Buzz Blades, which seem to be much cheaper, so I'll probably upgrade those after I finish off the Nano-Swarmers.

I don't know if I would consider Conan and Ratchet that much different, they are both Action Adventure Games, except Ratchet has some platforming elements to them, so they are sort of the same genre. And I added up and averaged out all the scores with the Gamespot review and without and it brought it from a 9.2 to an 8.9.

And Upgrade nano-swarmers! they are extremely powerful and quite useful.

One's a platformer and the other's an action game.

Okay, I added up the scores on Metacritic and it's an average of 90.8. I took out the GS review and it's an average of 91.4. Smaller difference than what you're claiming, which is probably because you did it when there were much less reviews, but now it's a negligible difference.

My Nano-swarmers are almost fully-upgraded, as I need the last, expensive node before it's done. It was a necessity for Planet Sargasso.

OHh yeah, that planet actually kind of annoyed me, getting those souls for the smuggler wasn't that great to me, but getting the alpha disruptor ray was.

And whoknows, I couldn't agree more.

Hey, in this game, do new weapons show up in the vendor at later levels or do you have to buy the one of the starter ones and then it adds more to the list (think that is how it worked in the last game)?
