So how is the game?
I might have to get retail since i would be able to resell the game unlike the download version.
Like I said, I only played about 5 minutes this morning and started a LAN game last night just to play in the Warhawks.
Control of the Warhawks (hawks) will take some getting use to. I flew for about 30 seconds before enabling the motion sensing option and used that for about 10 minutes. Like many other games that use this feature, it's going to take some getting use to; but I can see where those that are good with it will find it enjoyable. My biggest issue is that I over-jerk the controls and fight to keep it on the path I'm heading, but towards the end I did manage to pull up and fly up and over a huge rock face within what felt like 5 feet, it was awesome.
Foot play seems OK, but without anyone to fight it's hard to discern the actual gameplay. I did see a little action when I was being TKed and fought agains a team member, but it seemed that the automatic weapons took forever to take him down (yeah, after 6 kills I fought back). I don't know if this is because I was shooting my own teammate or if it takes that many shots to kill someone (didn't get the chance to get into enemy territories).
Graphically the game looks good, not Rainbow Six: Vegas good, but it's along the lines of what we would expect from Incog .... let's face it, TM:Black didn't push the graphics either, but they are fitting for the environments. The map I played around on had huge rock pillars and bridges all over the place, I could see this environment lending itself to some sweet foot battles and some nasty air fights. My only gripe is that power-ups are EVERYWHERE making it rather easy to grab and go. It would have been nice to see some strategically placed (like in a tight corridor protected by a gun turret).
I will say that some improvements need to be made (which may already be in game) though. For one, there needs to be a vote option, especially to kick. Secondly, there needs to be a penalty (which can be enabled) for TKs ... I kid you NOT that my whole team was shooting each other like a bunch of asshats -- MORONS. IMO they need to have something that reduces your rank after so many TKs. I understand that accidents happen, but if someone TKs more than 4 - 5 times in a game they should be booted and penalized.
Again, I can't wait to have some good games because this kind of setup / environment can lead to some memorable gaming moments. Is it the best game of it's kind? No. Does it bring anything new to the table? No. It is worth $40 ($60 w/ headset)? Yes, simply because, at this point, it feels like a game that is good now and with the right work from the devs can be awesome down the pipe.
Just my $0.02, some people may want to give me change back ....
