Old Stock Walmart Clearance games for $5 (YMMV depending on stock)

This week, Walmart did some clearance price changes on a lot of older video game stock. Many, many titles went down to $5.

A lot of this was older sports titles, so if you've got a hankerin' for some Madden 09, rush to your nearest ghetto Walmart now.

Aside from that, there were some gems. The AC/DC Track Pack went down to $5 (though the bundles with the shirt are still $30).

More importantly, Metroid Prime 3, Wario Ware Smooth Moves and Pokémon: Battle Revolution went down to $5 as well. Managed to pick up the one I needed (Battle Revolution) and a few extras for trade. :D

So, good luck hunting and post your finds in here so others can know what to look out for.

Again, these are nationwide price changes. As long as your store has 'em in stock and has worked the price change (yes, as we discussed in length in the 3DS price change thread oh-so-long-ago, someone in the store, usually the department manager, has to accept the price change before it goes into effect) the prices are good to go wherever the older games are in stock.

Please gaming gods let me get Advanced Warfighter 2 and Vanguish for $5.
Will hit up my local ghetto Walmart, hopefully won't get mugged and report back with findings.
 
If anyone manages to find an extra copy of Baten Kaitos Origins, I'd gladly compensate you for it :) Been looking for it for a while now.

Dug through my local Wal-Mart for what must have been close to an hour. Found nothing clearanced, just the same regular value pricing.
 
Unfortunately there are no "ghetto" Walmarts near my area. They're all clean and pristine stores with the lastest merchandise. The oldest stuff one of them have is a blue and red memory card set for the PS2 for $30.
 
I actually merchandise Walmarts and find this list incorrect and VERY short. The full list is about 11 pages long and a PDF file telling you if there any left out there, if someone could tell me how to display or show this entire PDF file please let me know and I will display it for the masses. All the zeroes I see on the list would be a lost cause and save you guys some time.

First of all, N1ntendo, thanks for the awesome list! You definitely seem to be more in the know than anyone else in this thread, so maybe you can help shed some light on some of the questions we've had, like how come different stores don't have the same pricing, etc... It is literally an issue of every title having to be individually scanned to 'update' to the clearance pricing? If that is the case, I can imagine that some of these titles won't get price updates for literally years in some WM's.

Again, your list is really cool, I appreciate the u/l; it's really neat and unique to get to see an insider's list like this, that allows you to see the available amount of games out there. A couple random OG Xbox games popped up at a WM I went to a few days ago, and, according to the list, one is the last copy available in the chain, and the other is 1 of 2. I would love to have them for my collection, especially for $5, but I really don't want to pay the $15-20 they would be at the old prices.

Also, it sucks to see that NCAA Basketball '10 should be $5 now. Just found not two weeks ago for $39.xx, and snapped it right up. :(
 
Went to my walmart on my lunch break today hoping to find Fear for the ps3 but all they had at mine on clearance at all was AC/DC for both ps3 and 360. They did have one copy of rage anarchy edition for $29.96. Is it worth it or can I find the anarchy edition cheaper?

MSRP for Rage is $19.99 at most places now, I believe. The Anarchy Edition is just the first print copies of the game; it came with some additional DLC. So, essentially, you would be paying about $10 for the DLC; don't know if it's worth it for you or not, since you should be able to easily pick up a vanilla copy for $20 or less.
 
My Walmart had red tagged a lot of newer titles than the ones mentioned.

etc... Is this old news? I don't frequent Walmart... I saw the old junk titles like the $5 AC/DC but thought it was weird no one was mentioning the better stuff.

Fear 3 was there too, but it was still showing up at regular pricing. Don't know why, totally would've bought it :whistle2:?

Ya, I can confirm that some games are YMMV. I found a beat up copy of xbox call of cthulhu and it rang up $39.92.

Yea, the only thing that was at the Walmart near me were some Guitar Hero 5 bundle, DJ Hero single turntable bundle, and some other bundle all marked down to $74.88.
Yes, that's clearance price of $74.88. Normally $79.88.

I was quite disgusted.
 
My walmart, being a newer store never had the chance to stock any of these titles in the first place likely, so there is nothing like this on clearance at all at my store. I don't think all Walmart's are participating in this either.

My walmart also gets cleaned out of games during Xmas time, so most likely anything good that was left over as in older titles that they just so happen to stock was probably gone then.
 
Brought the list to some Walmarts.. all I could find aside from ACDC and sports games was 2 copies of Vampire Rain and 1x Bayonetta. Already have Bayonetta and I don't think I was interested in Vampire Rain. Was hoping for some Warioware, butt oh well.
 
Ymmv part is probably due to different UPC stickers. I got 2 copies of NCAA 09 wii. One rang up at 5, the other 24.xx. Both had UPC stickers over th original printed cover, under the plastic. One had 2 different stickers over the original. Also the ds Zelda game is phantom hourglass.

That's because that's the right price for Fear 3. It's either the original FEAR or Fear Files that are $5. Fear 3 is the newest game in the series and $20 is it's MSRP currently.

Just checked the Wal-Mart in Pleasanton, CA. I only looked at PS3 but all I saw was:

-AC/DC Track Pack (of course)
- NHL 09

There were a few games that had green dot stickers on them though. Anyone know if those stickers mean anything? One of the games was MAG and another was NCAA Football 12.

Those are likely games leftover from Black Friday. Although I believe only the $10 ones were still ringing up the Black Friday prices, while the other ones had all gone back to whatever the MSRP for each of them is.

Those stickers are from Black Friday. One color meant the price is 15.00, another meant 28.00, etc

I managed to find a lot of games in a walmart near me. They had pretty much every ea sports game from 10 back and a lot of the already reported games such as fear. Some of the games were at the bottom of the glass cases with red clearance prices on them but others were just mixed in with the full price games but happened to have a yellow $5 price tag underneath so it may be worth scanning the whole case. I picked up

Kingdom under fire: circle of doom
NBA 10

$10
Vanquish

All games were for 360.
 
Well if the true list is accurate as I type this, I'm not going to even bother looking for the single digit remaining games. It would be nice to find those awesome games for $5 a piece.
 
There are what, approximately 4,000 Walmarts in the US total? LOL, I wonder how lucky somebody would be to find the games in the single digits.

Don't forget that a lot of them could be unaccounted for stolens from dump bins.

Lebanon, PA Walmart - only had AC/DC for $5 (Red Clearance Stickered) 360/PS3/Wii.

Yet they had NBA Live 2002 for ORIGINAL XBOX, in glass case, for $52!!
 
Checked my local Wal-Marts again yesterday after I got off work. All games were full price or not showing up in system from the barcode sheet I was using (including Fear Files, which they have 5+ copies of).

AC/DC was still there for $5 (picked up on Saturday). I guess the 2 Walmarts in Independence,MO just don't believe in doing price changes... or clearing out old stock (They still had a new Batman Arkham Asylum Collectors Edition there... for $50)

I think I'm just giving up and not spending anymore time on this...

Charleston, SC only had the AC/DC :ps3: @ $5.00; all the rest were in that $29.92-ish range...(as of early this AM, 2:00 am - Wed. 02.08.2012)...

Edit: Yesterday (Tue. 02.07.2012), my Kmart (in Charleston) had the AC/DC :ps3: on Clearance at $2.99. I've never seen a game marked at $2.99 (New) anywhere, to my knowledge, aside from yesterday @ The Big K.

If it were truly universal, then all the employees would have to do to accept the price changes is nothing as the system would just update on its own with them. But since it requires employees to actually work to change prices in the system, it's gonna take forever before it's universal across the chain.

This is why I used to like the Sears clearance, since the price of a game on clearance would be the same price at store A in NY as it would at store B in PA, even though they're hundreds of miles apart. But nowadays, even that clearance is YMMV when it never was before.:roll:

Walmart clearance is just one cut then let it sit right? Or will they keep dropping? I'd love to pick up some of the $15-$30 clearance games they had here if they went down to $5-$10

So my local Walmart isn't the only one with NBA Live 2002 for XBox for that price. I scanned it a few months ago thinking it had to be mistake (not that I would have bought it unless it was $0.25 but I was just curious if it was really over $50). It's bad enough to charge full MSRP for a 10 year old sports game, but to charge over MSRP is crazy.
 
The people at my local WM suck. They've been using the red clearance stickers on random stuff. So now I walk into an isle and see spatterings of red everywhere and the prices are still MSRP.

The only things I found on clearance are FIFA 10, AC/DC and EA Active Trainer 2 for PS3. There was an isle that appears to be set up for clearance. The isle had the EA Active Trainer 2 but it also had a ton of Halo Reach CE on the shelf. Unfortunatly they still scan for $79.... for now.
 
My local Wal Mart is actively refusing to clearance ANY of their games.

According to the employee..."We don't want to lose any money." Translation? "I'll run the price change RIGHT before I buy it all on payday."

Walmart - STILL a joke.

sigh... yeah, I probably shouldn't get my hopes up. One of the Walmarts down the road from me is better than most about marking things down though, *and* manages to keep a wide selection of old stuff. Maybe I'll check it out after dinner.

Mega Man ZX Collection does not exist.

Mega Man ZX is on clearance for $5, but there is only 1 left in the entire chain.

Mega Man Zero Collection was released in 2010 and is not part of this clearance.
