Original KMART Clearance Thread Resurrected!! A few NEW TITLES ADDED! Updated 1/31/07

I've taken the FAQ from the other thread & pretty much just pasted it here without any changes made to it. You can find this FAQ at the bottom of this thread past the game list. The first list is the current game list. The second list is the original clearance list.

Consider yourself lucky if you find any titles from the second list, also most everything on the second list should be a big YMMV as most of those titles are now out of the system &/or have been pretty much bought up by everyone by now.

Alrighty then, here is the new and improved Kmart Clearance list. All titles are in alphabetical order according to their platform. The listings will be as follows: UPC - Game Title - Price.

Any game title that I've put in BOLD is missing the full 12 digit UPC & is represented with zeros. Any missing info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the prices will be listed according to info I get from inventories. However, if 3 people can confirm the same price on a certain game, then I'll change the listed price to reflect it. I'll try my best to keep this updated as much as possible.

All updates on pricing will be done as I find them and/or posts from you guys/gals. I just updated some prices for select games that I found recently. Any price that I just changed has a v next to the price. There may still be a few prices out of whack, but for the most part they're current.

Remember if you have a UPC that we need please PM me so I may update the zeroed UPC's. Thank you to everyone contributing info in this thread!

FAQ

Q: Why was this thread created?
A: Because there are multiple threads floating around, and its useful to consolidate. THis one will have the OP constantly updates so you don't have to go digging.

Q: Are these prices YMMV?
A: No, they shouldn't be. I currently have 10 K-Marts in my shopping radius, and they've all been consistent. At one time it was thought that they were YMMV, but I'm pretty sure it was instead employee incompetence at keeping prices updated.

EDIT: Some people are reporting prices that are YMMV, but I am hesitant to mark the deal as such. If you get a different price, it seems to be the exception to the rule, not a true YMMV where it is hit or miss. I'd say these prices are 90% accurate.

Q: An employee said the price was higher than what's on the list.
A: Get the game scanned at the register.

Q: The employee got that price gun and said it was higher than what's on the list.
A: GET THE GAME SCANNED AT THE REGISTER. The gun is incorrect sometimes.

Q: Can I use the price checker thingies?
A: YES! Brilliant idea! They will give you an accurate price. Also, if you have the problem of useless employees not opening the cases for you, you can print off the UPC codes and check them at the price checker.

Q: How can I help?
A: Multiple ways:
- Get a job at K-Mart so we have an inside man
- Post the prices of the games you get
- Write down the prices of games you do not get, then post those too

Q: When are items marked down?
A: Once a month, near the middle of the month.

Q: Does this have anything to do with the weekend 50% off sales K-Mart usually runs?
A: No. While some of these games used to be on the list, this is completely seperate. None of these games are on the 50% list anymore and will not be reduced during these sales.

Q: What if I bought a game at a higher price and it gets reduced? Can I get a price adjustment or a return/rebuy?
A: Chances are VERY SLIM. K-Mart does not do price adjustments on clearance items. A return/rebuy might be possible, but most Kmarts do not employee people with the mental capacity to fully understand this concept.

Q:Can I price check the games without getting into the cases?
A: Yes, thanks to this UPC document from TimTucker. You can scan these at self scanners located in most K-Marts, but note that sometimes prices may not be accurate

Q: What if the price is higher than what's on the list?
A: Then your store has not done markdowns left. Ask them if they have any pending PCLs and perhaps they can do it for you, or just wait it out. Also, you could try a return/rebuy if you have another local store that did the drops. Use the UPC sheet to check this

Q: What if a price doesn't come up? It says "Check shelf tag for pricing".
A: This means that the game was at 90% off, and for some reason it was scheduled to be marked down further. If you have a cool employee, you can get games for cheap. If you have a game with outdated tags, you could be in for a hassle. This is similiar when Target marks things down for salvage.

Q: Are these markdowns YMMV?
A: NO. These are universal nationwide prices. If you arent getting them, its your stores problem and doesnt indicate a larger problem as a whole.

Q: How are things marked down?
A: AFAIK, it can be done manually via gun, or it can be done en masse at the register. If you want further details, we are currently looking for a CAG to take one for the team and get a job at K-Mart to infiltrate and learn their secret methods.

Q: What games will drop further?
A: As a GENERAL RULE, games at 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00 are at 90% off AND WILL NOT DROP FURTHER. Games ending in .99 will drop 2 bucks at a time in random intervals.

I guess I should have added some more background but I've been posting about it sporadically for a while. All of the Kmarts around me did MOST of the last set of drops no problem - so they had adjusted 95% of the prices. But like several others here, the DK, FTM, Spiderman 2, and, just remembered, Clancy Triple Packs were all ringing up the higher prices. Those particular titles are ones many CAG's have had problems with.

My point in posting about it is that it looks like those may have finally dropped at the "lagging" Kmarts (as someone else noted DK finally went to $5 at their store this week too - so it seems to be a secondary drop for these stores that didn't get these the first time). I completely forgot about the Clancy Triple pack yesterday as this was the store they were still $20 just last week. I should see if they still have them, though it is too late for EB trading .

So, those of you like me who were frustrated at the $25 price for Donkey Konga or the $20 Clancy Triple packs might want to check out those stores again and see if they finally dropped.

The ones near Portland NEVER had them - even when they first went on sale a year ago at the $30-$40 price (at which point I would have bought them). YMMV - I've never been able to get FYE to take ANY games, but I hear they are pretty picky about cases/manuals. I'm wondering if I can trade them to GR for anything.

I checked Kmart today and noticed two copies of Kirby and the Amazing Mirror for $7. I bought it during the summer for around $13, and I thought it was worth the full $30.

Also, there was one copy of Half-Life 2 for Xbox, marked $10.

And, on the bottom of the PS2 shelf I noticed FFXII was "out" a little early. o_o

I went to a kmart in Minnesota today... some sort of mall that included a Sears in it, a mini-sears rather, very odd.

Anyway they had 3 copies of Donkey Konga tagged at $15, Musashi tagged at $21, RE: Code Veronica ringing up $1, tagged $6, and Mario Strikers tagged at $15 and King Kong the movie tagged at $1.99 for the xbox.

Anyway, Lucas the red haired, scraggly bearded lumberjack rang them up for me... well Musashi rang up $24 for some reason, I had hoped it was cheaper, so I passed. Then he rings up King Kong, and it is $20 he says, so I think f*ck it, I didn't want it that bad anyway and pass. Donkey Konga rang up $25 for God knows what reason, despite the fact that it is $5 at most other stores :rolls: Then he rings up Mario Strikers at $30, so again I pass... now annoyed, then he rings up Code Veronica at $1 and tells me it is $6 because when it drops that low it is clearanced out of the system and he has to charge the marked price. I had to go to work, so I just left disgusted without saying anything as I was in a hurry.

Then it dawned on me, why didn't I say, "Look you f*cking retarded redheaded fag, you're not accepting the ticketed price on any of the other games, but you'll charge the ticketed price on something when it will cost more. In other words you're dictating the prices as you please..."

Alas, when I went back after going to visit my dealership in that town, Lucas was gone. If you chance by him, tell him he is gayer than Michael Jackson.

I took a copy of Mario Strikers up to the front and checked out with it paying the $15 price plus taxes. TENT. CAMP. GAY. I'm happy though, I finally got Mario Strikers and at a kickass price.

Last time I was in the local K, I wound up talking with a manager about that, and if they were expecting campers for the ps3 and wii. He said they had campers for the 360... and the store didn't get any 360s to sell until a week later. That may have just been a bizarre occurance at that one Kmart, but I wouldn't suggest camping at a K if you have other alternatives.

There were other games on the shelves that i had not seen there before, it seems like they went into that mysterious back room and dug out some old stock, how i was able to get army men for 2$ is beyond me as that was one of the games from the original clearance list. They had a zookeeper DS as well but i did not bother to have him check it as i am sure it was probably long gone from the system. There was a need for speed gamecube game that was out of the system as well.

Thats really awesome unclebob, i dont think i have seen a gameboy player in a kmart yet though. There are tons of accessories on sale for cheap, the trick is to scan anything that you think might be on sale, or scan whatever you want to buy.

unrelated but you can get any halloween cereal for 1.24 a box right now at kmart (the froot loops and apple jacks with the eyeball marshmallows in them) they are normally marked 3.69 or something but when you scan them they come up 1.24 a box, the date is still plenty good on them too.

I was the electronics manager for K-Mart during the 360 launch... only 1 or 2 stores in the district got any 360's at all within the first month, and they did it based on what stores had the highest profits, and because MS shafted them on units because, well, it's K-Mart.

I wouldn't camp out at any K-Mart, you'd just be wasting your time.

I need the UPC #'s for a couple of titles.

One thing to note, The Prince Of Persia Warrior Within for PS2 had a Kmart sticker with a $9.99 price on it, but it rang up $2 when scanned.

Hadn't been to a K-Mart in ages. Something about shitty selection and never any employees around. Decided to check a local one since they were bought out by Sears and hoped for the best. Decent delection since last time I visited. Still same problems. No one around to scan or get anything for you. Everything locked in cases. No price stickers on anything. Same ole K-mart LOL Question is regarding the clearance items. I know once their out of system, you pay the sticker price. But what happens when none of the games or accesories have any price stickers on them? I was able to buy GBA e-reader and castlevania double pack for cheap ($4 and $20) for each. But got screwed on Bookworm and Karaoke revolution 2. They were not showing up in system and could not sell them to me. Told cashier and manager who was helping someone else in the electronics department that I was willing to pay the full price for GBA Bookworm. No deal. Said they had to return it to vendor to receive a full refund. Is this true or did I fall for some mumbo jumbo bs? If true, why would a company even put games on clearance prices if they can receive their money back from the vendor? I guess the more things change at K-mart, the more they stay the same.
