Overstock mistake: Neon Genesis Platinulion collection for $8.03 + tax

WHAAAAAAAAAAAA!?!?!?

God dammit! I've bought this series 3 times now (VHS, original DVDs, and Platinum DVDs) and I just paid about $15-20 for each of the Platinum discs last spring. Anyone who is doubting this as a deal is INSANE. Eva is without a doubt MY favorite anime series and everyone I've shown it to loves it.

Oh well...

But someone mentioned thinpacks? Are these DVDs different than the individual Platinum DVDs?

We should make a poll to see how many of us think this deal will hold.

'Cause honestly, I am guessing the vast majority of the orders were for 2+, with some hoarders going for 20-30.

Overstock, no matter how generous, simply cannot afford to take such a huge hit.

That's why I'm hoping they cancel all the orders of 3+ and let the rest of us go. :)
I saw this on another deal site and thought this was for one disc until I click the link. This got to be the best deal for a boxset...ever!

Anyways can anyone here tell me whats the difference between this Platinum edition and the perfect collection? Besides the price of course;)
Remastered Picture and Audio, which is GREATLY improved......rumor has it Gainax spent more remastering the series then they did originaly making the show.

Yes, that's it, all 3+ orders must go (runs off and hides with his 2 copy order)

As for the other two, one would go to my cousin who *never* buys DVDs on account of fansubs and my friend who is graduating this year as a gift, as he and I have done 3 Evangelion marathons together during our high school days.

Some of us are actually going to use these for gifts, jerk.

These are the thin packaged dvds. They do not come with extra content, they are just the episodes in higher quality plus the directors cut episodes.

They're the Platinum DVDs, just in a boxset. There's no content missing.

I don't think Overstock can even get the quantity required to fill these orders. Would they have even sold a hundred between now and Christmas? A dozen? I jumped on it, but I seriously doubt that there are thousands available for Overstock to hand out, assuming that they even have the desire to.

No exception. All who abuse deals like this for making money are bastards and evil.

I do the same thing, though with launch items that are in limited quantity. I did it with the DS, the slim PS2. And more then a couple games.(usually just to pay for buying one of my own, since i'm a poor collage student) And I say that I would never consider doing this. It's mean and evil. Plus contributes to us all not getting one.

Damn, too late, it's already OOS (and it might have been DOA, but we'll see). I'm not even a fan, but I've heard good things and I'll buy anything if it's cheap enough!

Probably will have to wait until they come out for reviews to tell what's the truth about this...

You're wrong on that one..

You're wrong. The extra content is not included in the thin-pak collection. Besides, the original platinum dvds had a box set also. The difference is not just a box.

Doh, been waiting for a good deal on this, and this is too good. But OOS since I couldn't check all weekend. Thanks for posting the deal, keep us posted on any other anime deals :)

I just got an email saying that my order has been accepted and confirmed... the price is still the same and it still says presell (since it's not being released for a while).

They are called "Overstock" for a reason. You have no idea how or where they got these, why, or how. They could have picked them up for pennies on the dollar because of some mistake or accident that happened in getting these out. We don't know.

Speculate all you want, but we still won't find out for about 3 more weeks, unless they cancel orders before that.
Guys check your account order! It show as Street Fighter, Vol. 1 (FS/DVD) instead! It isn't Neon Genesis! They did a switch!
What the fuck?

How do we cancel??

The original link takes you to a Street Fighter DVD presell too, instead of the Neon Genesis one they had up yesterday. Looks like a switcheroo to me.

mine says Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum: Complete Collection (DVD) Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum: Comp

they took my money already, no emails about a switch or cancel yet. and typically overstock pays for it's mistakes.
So what do we do? Argue (because my confirmation e-mail says NGE) or just cancel?
Yeah, same here, and when I check the order online it says its for SF, Vol.1. So do we call... or what?

my 2 paypal orders were cancelled but my CC order went though. Its only 16 bucks so i might just keep it open and then complain when they ship it

they already charged my CC and i got a confirm email saying the other title

Ooh, this is dirty. Luckily, I have order confirmations received via email that assert that I did indeed order the Evangelion collection.

Let me know what sort of communication you guys receive from them regarding this debacle, so I can deal with it properly when I get home this afternoon.

I emailed and said they had better cancel my order or I will take legal action. This deal was way too good to be true and now they are trying to rip us off. Luckily i saved the order confirmation screen so I have proof that they changed the order.

why demand they cancel the order? more sense in demanding that they honour the deal. I got my confirmation emails, might as well try to keep what ya paid for man ^_^

No no, let them all cancel their orders. :)

haha thats awesome. I'm gonna fuck with these guys soo badly.

It could be another mistake off their first mistake though. If they honestly ship me Street Fighter they're gonna have another thing coming! =P

Got my Paypal refunds already. Being polite on the phone goes a long way. They did try to give me in-store credit only, but I said, no way, you switched the item on me, I want my money back, please.

I'll bet there's some hoarders out there who are fucked, either sitting on 25 copies of Street Fighter, or $200 in "O"credit!

I would love to hear if anyone gets overstock.com to honor their original sale, but I chickened out.

Im calling them right now, man they are gonna have a god sized shit storm if they dont give me my damn movies. And guess what I ate peanuts today so its gonna rip them up good.

ps:eek:n a side note, I've never had to try to get ahold of there customer service with this "newer" layout, boy their site is a giant fucking maze.

update

talking now seems like there was a computer glitch. my operator is contacting the warehouse right now to see if they have it. if they do i get NGE if not full refund. cross fingers

Ahhh, wtf, just got this email:
You recently placed an order (#XXXXXXXX) with Overstock.com and indicated that you would complete payment via PayPal. It has been at least four hours since your order was taken and payment has not been received. Subsequently your order has been cancelled

That money was instantly taken from my Paypal account and I have receipts to prove it. Now that it's cancelled will they even refund the money? Of course, I'd rather have the order honored instead of being lied to. This is such complete BS.

ok so here what i got:

the warehouse will look into it if they have the product.

Somone who input the catalog number or item may have messed that up for example this item number could really be SF and not NGE or vise versa and the item description was input wrong

ill get in an email latest by friday to let me know what the deal is

if its street fighter i get my money back if its NGE i get NGE

they will honor the price if its NGE for the money you paid for.

i didnt really get much but it seems like there wasnt much to do until they gain information on this supposed fuck up.

i suggest either emailing me or calling them to let them know so the problem maybe could be solved faster...

here is luck to us all.

I figure I will share my situation with contacting Overstock too...

I am currently chatting with a live help person (as I am in a library and cannot get on the phone), and I explained it all to her. She said the problem is a bit larger than she knows how to handle, so she is gonna get someone else for me (a supervisor). I told her i have to leave in 20min (a class), she said if he isn't there before then, she will email me a solution to my problem.
