So far I only have the order confirmation email stating clearly that I ordered NGE.

Paid via CC as well...hope mine goes through. I ordered early sunday morning.

A computer mistake is NOT false advertising. You go ahead and be an ass on the phone with them. If anything, it will make them less likely to be helpful.
 
Uhh if their website says Neon Genesis Evangelion Box Set is 8 dollars and they charge me for it, it's what they owe me. If I sued them, I would win.

You may want to check with your locality, but in at least a couple of states, yelling in court "I don't care what your Terms and Conditions say" normally doesn't fly.

Whats with all the complaining? Canceled orders is a way of life when shopping online for deals. Its always hit or miss, people ordering 20 of a deal can always ensure it may be canceled. Overstock sometimes does honor price mistakes, but its up to their discretion. At least it isn't Amazon or there would be no shot in hell of getting it honored. Amazon has canceled a dozen orders on me in the last year. In fact Dell is the only company I have seen honor price mistakes on a regular basis anymore.
 
Their violation is if they charge your CC though. They can't charge your credit card until your item ships. This happened in like 1998 when buy.com had a $600 monitor mispriced at $300 and thousands of people bought it overnight. Of course they didn't have that many, so they said they'd only honor the price for the monitors they had in stock. Seems fair enough. But the problem was that their automated system had already charged everyone's credit card, so even though they refunded all the charges, they got hit with a class action lawsuit and lost. Everyone who ordered a monitor that night got around $80. Sorry if someone already mentioned this! I just read the last few posts.

so that means whatever you order they can change that order to something else.. so go to overstock Buy a DVD set for 100 bucks , if overstock then wants to change that code to an empty box Too bad but you just got yourself an empty box for 100 bucks
 
I'm just going to settle down and wait until my "item" ships. If it's Street Fighter, I'll just return it. It's only $8, remember.
 
So....I finished talking to the Online Chat Help people.

The woman didn't what she was doing, but she got a supervisor. They said they sent an email to the warehouse canceling my order, and I could resubmit my order for the correct item when they fix the ad. I said, "What if they change the price? do I get the original price I ordered it at?" She said, "I don't see why the would change the price."

I persisted, she said she would make a note, for when I reorder it. I'll try it.

Whatever.

I think I lost out on this deal.

That's what it sounds like.

And the beauty is, according to their return policy, if you don't like the $100 box, you can return it for $4.95 or 15% restocking fee.
 
just got finished talking to one of their desk monkeys(I have a transcript if anyone is interested in it) basicly this is the lowdown.

in about 5 days I should get a email from the "warehouse", at that time I'll be able to bitch that I didn't want street fighter, that I wanted NGE. I have their monkey saying that at the very least, if I do not want street fighter (I don't? I don't even know what boxed set that is..SFV? something else?) I'll be able to get a complete refund. she also said there's a chance that I'll get NGE like I ordered. So I guess it's a wait to talk to someone from the warehouse.

if anyone gets futher then that by calling them I'll do that step soon, just no time today.

I just got done with the online chat. Pretty much she said that she would get the wherehouse to cancel the SF order and reorder the Neon Genesis DVD set. She also said that the price would be the same. I saved the chat log as well.

DAMN! They wouldn't give me the same price for it! They said i'd have to reorder it on my own, later.

Would I be able to reference your customer service convo somehow? I'll try and contact them again, I guess. I'll say that my "friend" got the deal, can't I? Think that would work?
 
I just got off the phone with one of their customer service representatives, and they said even though the order status page shows Street Fighter, their system still shows as Neon Genesis Evangelion for the order. I also just went ahead and asked about their preorder system, since how they charge you when you order the item instead of when it ships, and they said the price on any preorders should not change after you have already ordered it. They said that if there were to be a problem, you could call them back after you get the order and not have to pay for shipping to send it back.
 
I had to post this, as I found this sad, frustrating, and funny...after waiting quite awhile...

Me: I know you cannot ship it, it was a preorder. And they are not "stands", I asked if it still stands, as in still holds vaild. Why cant my preorder still be valid?

Overstock: Can you please wait for a minute or two so that I can research this for you?"

EDIT:

at the end of the looong chat, I was told that I still have my reservation for my 'Neon Genesis Evangelion DVD stands' (yes, he said that again), and it will be shipped to me when in stock.

I suspect by the constant use 'Neon Genesis Evangelion DVD stands' after I asked if my order for "Neon Genesis Evangelion DVD stands", that online it is a bot.

Let me know if they give you any confirmation that you will get the NGE DVD, if that is what they do for you.
 
Wow, now the OP brings us to the right page, but the price on the box set is $85.00 and not $8.00 hmmm

Ahh right you are. I just called Overstock.com and spoke to "Chris" and he says he just had another call like mine and he doesnt know why Street Fighter is showing up on my side. He says according to the information they have that I've ordered Neon Genesis. So I asked what happens if I receive my package and I see Street Fighter is inside and he said that I could return it free of charge and they'll correct the error. So then I asked how do I know that when the time comes I'll be allowed to do that and he said he'd put a note in my account that I called about it and that I could return Street Fighter if I get it. So I feel satisfied at the moment but I got burned by Overstock big time twice already. I wouldnt have ordered from them again but this deal is too good to pass up. And if this goes through OP gets a huge thank you. This is possibly the best deal I've gotten through CAG yet (assuming it goes through ;))
 
I was gone last night/this morning with traveling back home...

From what I've skimmed, it looks like Overstock changed everyone's order to some Street Fighter DVD. It was mentioned by several people to check my order status.

When I check mine, it clearly says:
In Process 10083223 Neon Genesis Evangelion
This title is expected to be released on 11/22/2005. We will ship this item as soon as it is available.

Does anyone else's show this? I know I ordered mine pretty quickly after it was discovered, like maybe 2-3 hours after the OP. My e-mail confirms NGE as well, and I just took screenshots of my account status. My item numbers match, everything still seems in order....am I not noticing something????? I did see that the price for the collection now reflects $85 if you follow the item number.

So does anyone think they might fulfill some orders and then screw others to SF? SHould I just keep checking? I'm worried. :( This is cheapassgamer, not f*ckedintheassgamer.
 
Yep, my order was changed back to the box set while I was talking to customer service. Maybe we will still get the sets after all. Btw the Catalog #'s match from the box set listed at $85.00 and the one in the Order Status page.
 
Strell, it could be that before you checked, it said the Street Fighter DVD, and perhaps they are doing a mass adjustment. As I posted a few posts up, mine got changed! :D
