He's supposed to be throwing again in June and fully recovered by the start of camp IIRC. Culpepper showed that he can muck things up really quickly without a standout cast around him, which the Saints don't really have. Also I think Cutler is an overrated draft prospect. All these top 5 discussions for a Vandy Qb with a losing record and one standout season, good QBs are a shortage this draft, but still crazy IMO. Still picking him as the #2 overall pick would be nuts I think, why not draft Leinart or Young first? If they really want to get Cutler they should make a deal to trade with at least the Jets or packers or someone to hopefully get a later rounds pick out of it. Though I admit they maybe going over the mark with paying Brees.
I don't know if Cutler is overrated but when i watched the guy play against the Gators this year he was pretty awesome surrounded by questionable talent at Vandy. Imagine if he played for USC with all of the talent that they have or if Leinart played instead at Vandy, do you think the results would be different? You just never know if a quarterback is going to be great or going to be a career backup when drafting them in the first round. As far as the Brees & Culpepper injuries only time will tell whether each player will regain the form that made them Pro Bowlers. It seems that the Chargers may know the real deal with Brees situation because they have enough money to re-sign him, but with all of the other teams that are interested in him maybe they really want to play Rivers. It should be interesting to see how the draft is shaken up after Brees signs with a team and if Culpepper gets traded.
