If you have Plus, its a no brainer. I'm not a huge fighting game guy, but this newest Mortal Kombat is probably my favorite fighting game ever. Its overflowing with content and they really managed to balance/modernized the old MK style.

As far as the DLC characters, they are all pretty great. I bought them without too much trouble as they were released (for $5 a pop, which is too much, but I really liked the game as I said). For less than $2 a piece, I don't think you can go wrong.
Cool, cool, I'll pick them up, thanks.

I'll definitely get Silent Hill. It is nice to have a digital copy of a game that I already have on disc. Wish PS+ would have a promotion one week where you could choose a free PSone title.

Still waiting on Raiden Project, Intelligent Qube, Silhouette Mirage, Silent Bomber, and Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions. Probably should pick up Vagrant Story.

Along with the MK deals, these items will be expiring for PS+ members next week:

Deals
Dead Block - $4.89
MotorStorm RC - Elite Vehicle Pack 2 - $0.50 - PS3 Bundle
MotorStorm RC - Pro-Am Expansion Pack - $1.50 - PS3 Bundle
SkyDrift - $7.49
Zack Zero - $6.29

Add-ons
MotorStorm RC - Elite Vehicle Pack 1 - Free - PS3 Bundle

Man PS+ is awesome but it's gotten to the point where I can't buy anything on PSN because I'm scared it will be free/discounted in PS+ If I dropped $14.99 on a PSN title, and it became free. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

You can wait for a deal or just buy it and enjoy it. I've bought many games that were free later but the fact of matter is life goes on. If you can't live without paying for games then don't buy ANY and wait for the free ones.

I got the $15 pack as soon as it came out on PSN, and while I despise DLC as a whole I have to say I love playing as Freddy Krueger. I don't like Kenshi much, but the other fighters are pretty awesome.

I don't mean to bitch, but when is Journey going to go on sale, if ever, for PS+? I could care less about getting a game "a week early but pay full price".

My rant is I signed up for PS+ for free stuff, discounts, auto-patches, cloud saves. All great stuff, and my subscription has more than paid for itself. But I don't want an "early release" bonus in lieu of a PS+ discount. I hope this doesn't become common place.

I no longer need to waste gas to go to a redbox, now that amazon instant video is available on PS3. Amazon's video deal of the day on near new release movies is pretty sweet for $0.99, even cheaper than redbox charging $1.20 now. Just rented Rise of the Planet of the Apes for $0.99. Hoping Justice League : Doom wins the threatrical throwdown for the weekend.

Loving my PS3 more each day (PS+, and now $0.99 video rentals from amazon).:D

The game just came out, relax.

I dunno why I spent all this time downloading and installing the free Shift 2. I have barely played my launch copy of GT5...

Awwww FML! I just bought Shank 2 like a week ago. Well at least PS Plus is getting some great stuff in, awesome game for those of you guys that haven't played it.

True, but assuming you have a fair amount of hard drive space it's great to have installed for quick plays after or before your disc game.

While I agree that getting it a week early wasn't nearly as nice as a 20% off discount would have been, I'd agree with "gettinmoney" that you should probably just relax, or just pay full price (nothing wrong with supporting a developer of a game you really want by paying full price).

Also, PSN/thatgamecompany clearly made the right choice NOT to give it a 20% discount. Even without it, it was still the fastest selling PSN game of all time.

Amazon Video Deal of the Day? Is there a link for this? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks Frisky! Time to stream some Mr. Popper's Penguins!!!

Not really, and also thanks for the list of free TV episodes, added several to My Amazon Video Library!

Cool. Prototype dropped in price. I played the game for about an hour on the Xbox and had fun. Now I will play the waiting game and hope it goes on sale in the near future. I've got so many games to catch up on anyway.
Perhaps I'll finally play Silent Hill.
I played the hell out of the original Silent Hill back on the PS1(and I still have a copy of the guide for it even), but I just couldn't get into the sequels on the PS2. The same thing happened with Bioshock this gen. I loved the first game in the series so much I beat it in about 2-3 nights playing 5-6 hours a night.

But I bought the sequel a couple times(including a $18 CE from Target on clearance) and I just couldn't get past the first level without yawning and going ho-hum.

I'm all for new ip's that do something we might not have seen before or that do something in a different way from usual. But it seems like when they get sequels I get bored as hell with them if they don't radically change stuff so it's got that 'new' feeling to it again.:whistle2:#

Go find a copy of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction on PS2 or Xbox and play that instead. That's really all Prototype is is a re-skinned H:UD. Same developer and same animations mostly for the characters. The only thing different is really the ability to absorb people and/or become them from what I've seen.

Besides which, I'd check your local Sears for Prototype as it was on clearance there for $10 or under a while ago. At least then you have something you can resell if you get bored of it or finish it.

Nothing for me this week besides the free stuff, I think I'm gonna pass on MK vs DC. If I could find it on disc for $10 I'd probably buy it.

Gotta decide by Tuesday on Zack Zero and Skydrift. Leaning towards Yes on Zack Zero and waiting for ~$5 on Skydrift.

EDIT: Also, Farm Frenzy 2 is an awesome, addictive game! (on my phone anyway, I love it!)

IATCG, bioshock 2 is definitely a little tough to get into but if you have it, just play it. IMO there was a single section towards the end of the game that made the whole game payoff.
Near the end of the game, you get to play through the eyes of a little sister and it's fucking awesome. Also, the actual big daddy you are playing as has an interesting story. They give too many hints and I was able to predict the ending but it was still good anyway.

Hey, thanks for this. I'll give Sears a shot when I'm in the area. I also read that Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was a fun time-waster. I'll try to find one. My PS2 needs to do some work. It's been idle too long!

Whew! With PS+, it looks like I'll end up having to 'buy' a hard drive rather than, just, 'post' a deal on one.

*note to self-buy nothing on PSN...save the money for my PS+ subscription* (Mr.Burns voice...excellent)

I took advantage of the 15% off TRU sale and bought a $50 PSN card so I could finally sign up for plus. Is there any "strategy" to when I should actually join? Certain day of the week? Certain time in the month? I haven't put together a clear picture of when deals happen etc so if anyone wants to chime in with their experience your input would be much appreciated.

I would sign up for plus when there is a game I want that month. If nothing, I would just wait for the next month.

Good question. Below is a link for the content for April (they may add a few small things here and there). So if you like April's content, then sign up now. Otherwise, wait til the end of April to see what May brings.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/04/05/the-pinball-arcade-hits-ps3-and-ps-vita-on-april-10th/

The Pinball Arcade will be out next week and will support the buy-one-get-the-other-free model for the PS3 and Vita versions of the game.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012...-on-april-10th/comment-page-1/#comment-704465

$9.99 for the game (free demo/trial like Pinball FX2) and there will be a pack of two tables coming for $4.99 soon. Read the comments to get more info about future DLC/table plans and such.

I also got an email with details on the Ghost Recon Future Solider beta:

Today Ubisoft announced the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier multiplayer beta will run from April 19th until May 2nd for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

In the multiplayer beta, up to twelve simultaneous players will have the opportunity to choose from three classes (Rifleman, Engineer and Scout) and experience the intense adversarial online action in two different modes:

Conflict
• Description: players battle to complete objectives located throughout the map and earn points, the team with the most points at the end of the round wins
• Game session: 1 round of 15 minutes

Saboteur (available starting April 26th)
• Description: a bomb spawns in a central location, both teams compete to retrieve the bomb and be the first to detonate it at the opposing team’s base
• Game session: 1 round of 10 minutes

Both modes will be playable on two different maps (Pipeline and Mill).

The beta can be accessed in the following ways:
• Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction Owners
o Splinter Cell Conviction Xbox 360 owners can access the beta directly through the game
• Pre-order Ghost Recon: Future Solder on Xbox 360 from GameStop and receive a Xbox 360 beta key
• PlayStation Plus subscribers receive a PS3 beta key

I've had a couple 30 day trials, and I noticed a lot of things tend to be available through the end of the month, so I would argue for subscribing near the end of the month so you can grab everything from that month right away and on your last month you will get just about everything for that month, though you won't have it very long.

But as others have said, wait for something you want. I want Shank 2 and I'm finally going to actually pay for the thing, but I'm going to wait until near the end of the month.

Yeah. Throwing cars n other crap at the military never got old in H:UD. Mind ya, I think I always went after NPC's n used them as cannon fodder too.

If you'd rather play it on your Vita, then it's worth it.

I'm glad to hear that P3FES is coming to PSN, although I am slightly disappointed. I was really hoping Atlus would give us some HD remasters for the SMT games.

I think so. Personally I would always prefer the portable RPG because it's easier for you to grind while doing other things, but even putting that aside I think the portable version is probably my favorite iteration. You don't get the extra story that came with FES but I never found it to be very endearing anyway and as a sort of compensation they do offer you the ability to play as a female character (which has its own slight story changes). There are some technical sacrifices: the small handful of animated scenes are gone (but you can just youtube those if you feel so inclined), and instead of moving your character around in 3D worlds in the daytime segments you now just slide a pointer around in pre-rendered environments. IMO that's an improvement since it lets you move around faster and, well, these places weren't exactly that big or exciting in the first place so its not like you're losing some real sense of freedom.

That actually makes me want the PS2 version. I'm all about having extra story parts and cutscenes, even if they're not that big of a deal. I thought the PSP version had all that.

If you're into the extra story parts, then the PSP version is the one you want. Granted you lose some cutscenes, but you can play as a female character and that changes a significant chunk of the story. And, to be honest, the battle system in Persona 3 and FES is kinda bad because you can't control your ally characters, only the main character. The AI likes to go completely stupid sometimes, which can get you killed easily, especially on the higher difficulties. P3P is definitely the version to pick up.
