We played for an hour, and the levels already required not only frequent communication but also very precise coordination. These kind of games are a dying breed, normally co op games can be blasted through by both players spraying bullets.
Glad to hear that. I want more co-op games like that myself.

To be fair, Thanksgiving is as late as it can possibly be this year.  Retailers are losing 6 full days of "Holiday Season" shopping from last year.  And with how important sales numbers are, they have to do everything they can to make get their numbers as high as possible.

I wasn't sure if I should post it here or the Niche thread, but NISA is having a Philippines relief donations. For a $1 (or more if you want) you'll get 3 backgrounds and a theme

Sorry saw was already posted.  Was referencing the indie bundle on Amazon.  Trying to decide if I want to take the plunge on it.

Stupid calendars ruining everything.

I have not looked around for it a bunch but I have a question for any other PS4 users. Do PS4 games save to the cloud automatically or is that not up yet? I want to play Battlefield 4 and beat it but my save keeps corrupting randomly for no reason and would like to upload my saves so that I can redownload them if the save on my console corrupts. Battlefield 4 is the only PS4 game that keeps giving me these "error" messages randomly and kicks me out even in the middle of MP games.

Already planning that out. "What trophy can I log in for five minutes on Sunday and get? "
I used to do the same thing with the X360Blog website...I ended up getting up to 110 days before I got real sick and didn't play for a day. It was kinda fun while it lasted, it made me play games like Feeding Frenzy to save up easy achievements, but at the same time I would intentionally stop playing certain games when I knew achievements were about to unlock.

Sorry, it was actually 103 days. 110 days was the number of days I logged in.

Yeah, in theory it saves automatically at some mystery interval - it's mentioned in the power settings. In practice I can't figure it out - I leave mine in standby all the time and it doesn't upload sometimes but sometimes it does (like it uploaded AC4 as soon as I closed it once, then it didn't upload for 3 days). It doesn't seem to upload while I'm playing. Maybe it'll upload if I just leave it on? I don't know. I read some anecdotal evidence that cloud saves may not download back to your system correctly too (i.e. when deleting your local profile and recreating it), I dunno. I haven't tried it yet.

^Thanks for the reply. Ive never had a problem with a game corrupting repeatedly. I guess Ill just try my best to beat it in one sitting. Or just wait till they fix BF4 for good since Ive read they have been having problems. I want to play the campaign! How is AC4? I have it but have not bothered opening it. I was a huge fan up until revelations then I just got bored with it despite owning them all. Still need to finish Revelations, 3, and Liberation. But may skip to 4 and go back later.

I thought Revelations was kinda bland, 3 was awesome, Liberation is more than a little bland. 4 is terrific so far - nice to look at, fun dialog, seems like they scaled back the sizeable todo list from AC3 so that getting 100% is more manageable BUT the game has been kicking my ass just a little in terms of difficulty. Not sure why.

Ill probably boot up AC4 tonight to get into it a bit. I have heard good things about this one for the first time in two years. I just started playing GoW Ascension today on hard. That game feels difficult granted I'm at the beginning so getting some upgrades may turn things around. I got killed like three times in one hit by this hand thing it was insane but the graphics are so gorgeous.

I am probably in the minority, but I think I would rather redo the Challenge of the Gods on any of the older GoW games than have to do the Trial of Archimedes on Ascension again. Thank goodness they patched it since I am not sure I would have made it through otherwise.

I started ACIV the other night and could hardly stay awake. I don't know what it is about this series that just bores me to death. Could be the whole animus/synchronization nonsense. I had forgotten that I briefly tried AC2 years ago with similar results. Oddly enough I really enjoyed Prince of Persia, and if I'm not mistaken they run on the same engine. On well. I hate that I can't get into something that everyone else seems to enjoy, but I'm done trying.

That Trial of Archimedes was definitely a pain in the ass. So was one part near the beginning where the camera zoomed out way too fuck ing far and I couldn't even see what I was doing. Come to think of it, most of Ascension was a pain in the ass. And I didn't platinum it because there was one lame online bronze trophy and I bought the game used so I couldn't get it.

It'll probably come to Plus at some point.

I can't wait to move on to the real HD GoW games. Just finished plats in 2 & Chains of Olympus. Gonna hit up Ghost of Sparta before 3 so I don't have to go backwards visually. Otherwise I've been playing in release order. Ascension is still wrapped, but I've been tempted to open it just to try out the multiplayer. Would I be lost in multiplayer if I don't play the campaign first?

they really should've put a warning on the box that states 'must have a tv at least 60" in diameter to participate in all portions of this video game'

Ghost of Sparta is fantastic and looks great for a PSP game, though it'll at least give you an idea of what to expect from HUD improvements in God of War III since it borrowed those elements from 3.

The only thing you'll lose by going into the MP first is the practice with the changes to the combat system that you'd have gotten by playing through the campaign first.

You get the DLC pre-order bonuses with the game for the first week on PSN.
I saw that, not sure if it will sway me or not though.

As for Ascension I still have it wrapped and just finished III not long ago but it sounds like I might be better just skipping it? I'd be ok to preemptively knock down my backlog.

I enjoyed it. They made some nice changes to the combat that made it more fun to play. There are some hard parts, but nothing that was too bad for me.

Since I seem to generally maintain the minority opinion, I enjoyed it more than gow3. gow3 has better set pieces, but ascension felt better to play for me. Maybe it was because it was a little easier to play in short stints? I dunno.

oddworld vita, play opening u get 1 trophy. =)
Already beat it! Geez, keep up with what games I play. I'm playing BF4 right now and that has a steady stream of trophies. I have a lot of RPGs on my plate that take a lot of time. Those will be tough to keep the streak going. I'll have to have a side game where I can play a little bit a day in case I need to scrape something out.

To add to the Ascension discussion, I played recently and had no issues with it. The Trials were tough, but I thought the Challenges of the Gods/Titans/Whatevers from the previous games were a lot harder. They also patched the game to nerf the difficulty on the Trials I think, so depending on when you played it might have been harder than when I did.

Though I haven't used this feature yet, you could try copying the BF4 save(s) to a USB thumb drive if you want to try a more hands-on way to make sure you have a back-up copy of a good save. You could also do the same for the cloud, but you can be more confident in the local back-up always being there just in case a corrupted save got uploaded to the cloud.

That'd be sweet. Cheapest I could find an online pass here on CAG was $3, but I'm not a big enough trophy whore to pay $3 for one bronze and one platinum trophy.

$20? C'mon.
Can't say that I'm surprised. Although i do wonder if Sony and M$ think people will pay $20 for an PSN/XBLA arcade/indie title.

The new Pinball Arcade newsletter confirms a December launch for Pinball Arcade on PS4.

Pinball Arcade for PS4 also received a glowing review of 9.0! We know everyone is anxiously awaiting it's arrival on the PSN store, and it's ready to get into your hands!
Pinball Arcade on PS4 is looking fantastic, with it's new table lighting and graphical upgrades, it looks amazing! Some of us in the office like the dark ambient lighting, making the glow of the tables feel much more distinct and warm, like we're actually playing in our favorite bar or arcade. When you get your hands on it, what's your favorite way to play?

You can expect the PS4 version of Pinball Arcade in December, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
They also started hyping up the third season of tables with a teaser image at the bottom of the newsletter:

$20 is the new $15. It's a bummer.

The developers set the price, so you'll see a range of cheap and expensive games from them. They'll also be the ones most likely to drop the price or put them on sale the soonest if you don't like the launch price.

I still doubt that $20 is the new $15 in all cases, but it definitely will be more common to see downloadable games launch at $20 this generation.  Also remember the new console tax that games get.  I've mentioned this before, but when the Vita launched games like Lumines, Dungeon Hunter, and Touch My Katamari all got retail releases instead of $10-$15 digital releases like they should have been. Hell, Lumines and Katamari don't have platinums, that all but guarantees they were originally supposed to be downloadable titles but got bumped up to full retail due to the "new console tax".

PSN has had $20 titles since 2007 when Wipeout HD came out and PSN has had a good track record of letting developers/publishers choose their prices, as evidenced by the wide variety of pricing on many of their games. I expect the variety of prices to get better as more games are released for PSN on PS4.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't have the bias against $20 PSN/XBLA games that some around here do since I decide based on the quality/depth of the content. Wipeout HD and Minecraft were easily worth the $20 and others like the Watchmen episodes were not.

On a related note, does anyone know when Terraria releases in North America?  I've heard its coming to EU on December 4, but no confirmation on N.A.  I assume it will be a downloadable title, and probably $15-$20.  Also Minecraft for Vita is in the works I guess, no date on that except "Q4 2013".  Looking forward to both of those games, Terraria in particular is one of my favorite games!

No date, so you'll have to wait for release date news. If it's like the PS3 version, it'll probably be out sooner in NA. It'll probably be $14.99 like the original.

Minecraft was announced for PS4, PS3, and Vita at Gamescom for sometime this year, though that time is fast approaching.

Dangs whenever I read your guys' posts about your trophy collections I just want to hide. I just don't have the patience to go through all that  :oldman:
