No you cannot purchase the "free" games while you are on PS+, but you can purchase them after your PS+ expires. This will only negatively affect you if a game goes on discount for non-PS+ and free for PS+. It does happen, but not all that frequently.

If you have something like a 1-month free trial card, I really don't see any harm in using it just to check out the service for a month. Or if you're not interested in any of the free games available now, wait until March to see what is being made available for March.

You could also try to sell the trial card or give it away to someone you think might enjoy it more. I really don't think you'd get more than $4 for selling it though.

i checked my received messages and had an offer from rocketbird hardboiled chicken or something like that for 5.99 or 6.99. i already got it for 7.50 during the last sale, but just a heads up for those that have tried the demo but didn't buy it yet. peace
Did you download the demo for the unlock download to work?
I keep getting the error "This content cannot be accessed on your account"
Yay! You finally started including the "free" PS+ games. Now this thread is my one stop shop for PSN info.

It has been a sick month for us PS+ users. Maybe the best updates ever.
Try this thread:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180647

FriskyTanuki updates it also, and it includes every new free item, demo, and sales. Basically anything new on PSN he puts it in that thread. This thread is under the "deals" forum, so he just lists the deals.
Anyone try DJ Max Portable 4 yet on the Vita? It's a shame that 19.99 is the sale price when teh UMD has been at that price or lower :(
Where?

If you downloaded it before, try going through your download list to get the demo. I went that route and it downloaded fine from there.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/02/16/3-great-reasons-to-try-ps-vitaps3-cross-play-content/

If you haven't seen the news, Sony's announced some upcoming Cross-Play promotions with PS3/Vita games:

-PS3 Hustle Kings owners get the Vita version for free and vice versa.
-PS3 Wipeout HD and Fury owners get the HD/Fury DLC packs for Wipeout 2048 for free when it's released later this spring.
-PS3 Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 DLC owners can use that content with the Vita version and vice versa.

Not a part of this news, but buying MotorStorm RC on either PS3 or Vita will get you the other version for free.

Wish PS3 owners with Wipout HD and Fury (I purchased both, not receieved free from the apology even) would get something free as well, but I suppose it's really just incentive to pick up a PSV. Ah well.

hey if i begin the dl for farcry 2 and cancel it, and it is in my dl list, can i still download it in the future after this week or does it need to literally be on my harddrive now?
thanx frisky or who ev

I'd never downloaded the demo before .

Edit: Apparently I actually did download it back in 2008??

As long as you "buy" it in the store and it's in your purchase history, you'll be fine to re-download it whenever you want, as long as you remain PS+.
Is Far Cry 2 for 9.99 a good deal? I've wanted to play the game for quite a while. On Amazon it's still like 29.99.
It's pretty fun for an open world FPS, but there's a lot of little gripes I have. Malaria is absolutely stupid, the aiming is pretty much "spray and pray", and there's not much sense of action it seems. I'm only an hour or so in, but it's probably worth $10 if you can't get it free from PS+.

I'm really happy with my PS+ subscription. I have gotten tons and tons of free games along the way, I look forward to playing FC2 as well.

Been looking for a Valkyria Chronicles 2 deal for weeks ever since I picked up a PSP, and just saw this while browsing via Media Go.

- Valkyria Chronicles 2 PSP Bundle Pack (Full Game and Add-On Content) $22.49

I usually go for the hard copy of games, but for the price and the included DLC I decided to get it. Supposedly limited time, but I don't know when it got posted or the details of when it ends.
With the full game at 40 on PSN and UMD copies either hard to find or relatively expensive, I figured I'd post here anyway in case anyone was interested.

yeah. it was like $14 bucks a few months ago on psn. still a good deal for 22 bucks though.

Still debating if I should get House of the Dead III. Already have it on my original Xbox. Might hold out for a disc based compilation for the PS3 including HotD IV or II like the Wii version.

Also still debating if should get DJ Max Portable 3 or wait on getting the UMD version cheaper in the future.

Still hoping for DLC discounts on Valkyria Chronicles I and II.

As well as Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel to go on sale. Kind of surprised Silent Hill: the Experience has been put up on the PSN store.

I hadn't noticed the digital Disgaea being $10 before, I've been looking for a deal on that game. My only question is if it'll run on the Vita...

Just wanted to remind PS+ people that Far Cry 2 expires tomorrow when the store updates, so you better at least grab it before that offer expires if you don't want to download it right now.

Also, if you downloaded the trial in the past and haven't played that hour, you'll need to do so in order to be able to get the license to reset.

That reminds me, Gamestop still hasn't sent me the download code for the game... mildly concerning.

Got it in my history. Downloaded it up to 60% and was prompted that I had less than 500 MB left in hard drive space.

I deleted the download before it finished so I still have about 2 GB left of free hard drive space. Hope it will still be in my download history, even if don't renew my subscription to PS+.

Signed in this morning to buy HotD 3 and I realized that if I did, I would have to fund $5 to my PSN wallet and that after buying it would leave me at $2.46, 4 cents short to buy Hamilton's Great Adventure when it goes on sale later today.

Then I realized PS+ has a "Last Chance" tab and that HotD 3 wasn't on there (turns out it's on sale for 2 weeks). So I can wait til today's update, buy both, and not have to fund and extra $4.96 to my PSN wallet. Woohoo!

Very cool. I wasn't sure how long HOTD was on sale for either and thought I missed out.

Plus has been turning out to be my greatest game purchase decision of the last 2 years.

I am sure I am wrong here as it seems too obvious, but couldnt you add $5.04 to your wallet and then you wouldnt be short for Hamilton?

I used an empty pre-paid Visa card to activate the four 1 month PS+ codes I had(3 Sony gave me, 1 I got from another CAG) to give myself PS+ till June of this year. I figured since the codes are gonna expire next month anyway, I might as well use them all. I also already cancelled auto renew and turned off the auto pay or whatever else I had to to eliminate any future headaches from Sony trying to steal money to pay for more PS+ months.:booty:

Anyway, I already downloaded(and completed:cry:) the Simpsons arcade game and I set up Far Cry 2 so it's in my download history, so now I just have to find time to DL it.

Either way, I hope there's a decent discount on Trine 2 or some of the other stuff I've been looking for discounts on in the next 3-4 months.
You won't be able to Download it again until you renew your subscription
Yup, I'm fine with that part of the PS+ free stuff agreement. So long as when I do renew, it will be there to download again.

I'm running out of room on my hard drive with all this free stuff from PS+. I should delete stuff, just can't get myself to.

I mean there's a lot of free videos from the PSN store that I should delete, then again I get the message that I won't be able to download them again.

I've actually never tried funding custom amounts. I either just fund $5 (the minimum) or whatever the exact price for the game is (if it's more than $5).

But if it's possible to fund custom amounts (is it?) than yes, that would have worked just fine. And it will be something I remember in the future, so thank you.

:applause:for finally pulling the trigger and using those damn 1 month PS+ codes. BTW Sony never discounts the games you want, so you will wait and wait and then finally buy it and then...they will offer it free. Just seems that way for me anyway. ;)

You could just put both of the games that you want in there and if you need just over $5, then you can get the remaining amount to pay it off.
You could just put both of the games that you want in there and if you need just over $5, then you can get the remaining amount to pay it off.
The problem is any remaining balance you have is not counted towards the $5 minimum. So if you have a $2.34 balance, the lowest "custom" funding you can get is $7.34.

With a 0 balance you get anything over $5, $5.01, etc.
You could just put both of the games that you want in there and if you need just over $5, then you can get the remaining amount to pay it off.
That's my plan. I have $2.35 in my PSN wallet now, Hotd3 is $4.89 and Hamilton is $2.50 (grand total $7.39). So I'll put both in my cart, check out, and have to fund $5.04 from my card to get both of them. Perfect!

However, I wouldn't be adverse to funding even more if there are some more sweet sales this week! I've got 21 games on my Want List that I'll gladly buy at 50% off! :)
Get a feeling with all the Vita stuff, it'll be another late update :(. Either way, cant wait
If it is late, I sure hope someone complains (or even mentions) that it's late, then someone else will come in and defend it being late, and then we can go through 3 pages of bickering about it! I love reading internet bickering!

Lol. I didnt even mean to cause all that arguing last week

The Sony dev's are too busy being busy for no reason

But seriously, dont expect it for another hour or two, all this Vita stuff is making the updates late. Been the same time for the past 2 weeks
