Many (most?) people don't like Witcher 3 combat. Myself included. But it still remained GotY for me.

Aard and Axii (and in some cases, Yrden) lowers the amount you actually have to fight.

Quen and Yrden makes it so fighting is safer.

Igni is... mostly pointless.

Likewise I wasn't a huge fan of the combat. It didn't seem to have any heft to sword swings, and the dodging was a little too floaty and imprecise for my tastes (I'm a Dark Souls kind of guy). But I definitely put a ton of time into that game and played through to completion and pretty much any quest in my log.

I lasted an hour on Witcher 3, thinking I'd love it. Can't explain why, but -hated- the feel of combat. Probably should have given it another chance, but flippageddon happened.

Someone sell me on Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate. If I know Im never really going to get fully invested in MP, would i have fun with some solo romps in star wars land? I played the beta for a bit so I sort of know what I'm getting into... but is it all just sort of hoard mode [that's what was in the beta iirc]

I'd get it. It's not an MP you have to fully immerse yourself in, you van just pop on every once in a while and play a round of Walker Assault, plus if you ever plan to get PSVR buying it gets you the superb X-wing VR mission

Beta was pretty well received, Airship is made up of people who used to work for Vigil and worked on Darksiders(hence the Joe Mad connection), and the game itself is based on the characters from Battle Chasers so it's a miracle it's even coming out. I'm cautiously optimistic it will be good as I love the universe it's set in and the art.

It's the most I've been excited for a game in a good long while. Mostly because it's hitting a nice sweet spot for me. I am a very recent fan of MH thanks to buying 3U on a whim back in July (tried to get into this kind of game earlier but it didn't stick for various reasons) and I think that's one of the best games I've ever played so the fact we have this modern, console, great looking MH game coming so soon just gets me fired up as a new fan.

Well, I did say it shortens combat in Witcher 3 if you didn't like it much, so you can still enjoy everything else about it. I abused Aard and Axii my second playthrough to rush through.

So I guess unfortunately this is the way games are headed. They are all going to not necessarily a pay to win model but definitely a pay to enjoy model. Nba2k18 is a microtransaction fest and it's saddening. They have made you gain VC nw at basically half the rate you used to, you have to rebut previously purchased haircuts and stuff if you change and want to go back, you gain half the vc you used to via the app, and you can no longer preview attribute upgrade purchases, so basically 2k is forcing you to buy VC if you want to properly enjoy the game now...just pathetic.

Any input on the Injustice 2 Ultimate pack? I'm tempted and can't get a read on when it'll be cheaper.

Same I am really tempted but I'm wondering if it will go lower. One of the only times I feel like I have to buy dlc is for fighting games.

You're fine with just the base game. All the DLC is not out yet so I doubt there will be a goty edition on PS4 anytime soon. As for the DLC itself there are 4 packs: 1 for each NPC party member (where you play as them during a period they are not in your party) and a multiplayer expansion. Currently 2 of the party member DLCs are out with the final one planned for December. The multiplayer expansion doesn't have a release date yet but it's already had a beta and it's coming out before the final party member DLC so it will probably be out real soon.

Now that said despite all the DLC tying directly into the story (even the multiplayer DLC for reasons I won't spoil obviously) it's pretty optional imo. Both of the party member DLC packs that are out currently are short and just add some extra character development, nothing critical. The multiplayer DLC may as well be an entirely different game as you are playing a custom made character and it doesn't look like it will actually have much story involved based on the beta.
