Are the Chrono Trigger loading times really that bad? Let's discuss it some more.
It was worth every damn penny.

New Call of Duty to be revealed on Sunday.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/01/new-era-of-call-of-duty-set-to-be-revealed-on-sunday

Anyone who isn't Velo excited for this? I'm guessing not. I personally tend to enjoy the Treyarch developed ones, but this is being fully developed by Sledgehammer games for the first time. I'll keep an open mind.
I'm not excited, but definitely interested. I know Sledgehammer helped with MW3 but we'll get to see how they do their own Call of Duty. Would be funny if this title became the "CoD4" of this gen.

Someone asked the Axiom Verge dev if the game was going to have a platinum and this was his response:

"I haven’t coded the trophies yet, but I believe this is automatic when you obtain all the other trophies?? If I’m wrong somebody set me straight!"

Kinda backs up my theory that there are many devs that don't really know or care about trophies. Probably what happened with RE4 and MGS Ground Zeroes as well.

I'm not excited, but definitely interested. I know Sledgehammer helped with MW3 but we'll get to see how they do their own Call of Duty. Would be funny if this title became the "CoD4" of this gen.
I would say MW2 was the pinnacle of their mastery... until they began iterating on the same damn engine.

As in, you get the trophies just for playing the game? How boring.

I've been playing Zero Escape, but I'm going to stop. I got past the first room and then I had to sit through an endless dialogue sequence of a typical, utterly lame video game story. So much tapping when all I want is to get to the next damn puzzle. Plus why isn't anyone saying anything to the woman who wears an oval as a shirt?
As someone who hates most game plots as much as you, If you like room escape games the plot is worth sitting through. And once you play through a section once, on going through again you can fast forward past all dialog. Unless someone says something new, which happens sometimes. I got the plat and enjoyed the game, despite the story (which was... okay at times).

I finally gave in and bought the $9.99 bundle for No Heroes Allowed. I'm not sure I'll capture all the heroes and monsters, but the 3 games a day wasn't enough for me to get my fix.
I highly, HIGHLY recommend not going for the completionist trophies. I am one monster away from the trophy, but it requires a rare drop from the mines. I've already farmed/upgraded everything else. And it's not worth it.

Some new tips for those who are going to try anyway:

1) I wish I learned this sooner -- even though just 'seeing' an enemy rare will add it to your mission select screen if you don't actually capture it... only capturing it will actually add it to your hero compendium. This burnt me hard (I went through and found all rares w/o always adding them).

2) Ultimately, I think the sumo wrestler dude is the most needed rare. Sword guy is up there too. Relatively few pirates or orb ladies needed. I was keeping a lot of slots tied up with those, that i could have used to capture everything else.

3) In world 2, i'm pretty sure you auto-capture anything you see if you win the battle. Perfect for low level captures -- basically, anything below stage 6, including rares. Don't waste your capture powerup on any hero below those stages, use world 2 instead. Save those powerups for world 1, on rares level 50+. You will likely need a ton.

4) I've been farming the mines for countless hours (a ton, while doing other things) and one rare monster still hasn't dropped. If you're going for trophies, you not only need to grind the mine for eggs, you also need to grind for capture power ups, then grind for hero rares. It's... a lot. The game is absolutely fantastic when you're actually playing it. Mining, not so much. (fortunately, you can do it while doing other things, it's effortless except for checking on it every 5 minutes or so)

5) The game gets SUPER hard in world 2 starting around stage 6, so the game really has legs even if you don't care about trophies. Ultimately, I've found the nutrition monsters most valuable (i use them in all slots where one exists) because you can chain nutrition cells without using up turns, and they upgrade each other -- they are great/necessary for some advanced heroes that do serious attacks (the X pattern, especially). I don't expect to finish all of world 8 for some time, and s+ ranking it might be dang near impossible (no trophy for that, thankfully). I have s+ ranked all of world 1, though. 8-8 being the hardest, even with evolved monsters.

I was just pointing out something from MY perspective.

I hate when people say "in my opinion." No fuckin shit it's your opinion.

I think they think that that should shield them from any criticism.

Not just playing the game, but when it requires you to grind a 100,000 kills and after about two playthroughs you're only at 8,000. I feel some games do makes their lists about playing the game in different ways, more fun, etc than just plod through it mindless. (MGS4 is a good example. You needed eight playthroughs of the game, while following certan guidelines, to be able to unlock a gold trophy. Eight. Times.) Then you got the bs retail/digital games that get or don't get platinum. It needs a cohesive system, and trophy rarity is a good step by Sony, but needs to be fleshed out more.

Bummed that they went this route for the sequel. Personally, I think it's never a good thing when a game goes console exclusive with sequels as it pisses off more fans who don't have the desire to buy a console for one game.
It's only exclusive in that they're not actively talking about other platforms or working on it on other platforms. Remember, Curve is one of the biggest port studios for indie games, so I'd be shocked if you don't see it on PC/PS4/Vita later on.

New Call of Duty to be revealed on Sunday.

Anyone who isn't Velo excited for this? I'm guessing not. I personally tend to enjoy the Treyarch developed ones, but this is being fully developed by Sledgehammer games for the first time. I'll keep an open mind.
I'm not excited, but I'm curious. I gave up on traditional COD before the MW2 season pass finished. But Extinction co-op in Ghosts is actually a lot of fun (something I find myself saying here a lot ...), and I may be interested if there's a decent looking co-op mode included.

Sledgehammer helped ship MW3, which was lackluster. I don't expect much.

This is almost for sure right. And if it's right, it's stupid they chose to label it an "exclusive" in the first place. Maybe they think getting all the WiiU fanboys tugging each other off over it is worth leaving the Sony fanboys limp and dry.

Haha mentioning this on other sites or even in other threads on CAG is grounds for war. It's literally like spitting in someone else's face.

Funniest part is that it's definitely true. If Nintendo likes money they'll definitely let Platinum port it to other systems eventually.

The key difference is that Bayonetta 2 is being published and financed by Nintendo themselves. Platinum has said that without Nintendo's backing the sequel wouldn't exist at all.

This is where I defend Wisconsin accents by declaring there isn't one. It most certainly is not French/Canadian. It doesn't even border Canada. Maybe some way up in the north woods have a mixture of the (exaggerated) Fargo accent and the Yooper accent (of 30 Point Buck fame), but most of us Cheeseheads speak perfectly normal and well.

[/rant]
I don't know about this. I've been in Madison for about 3 years for grad school and I still can hear the distinct Wisconsin accent everytime I'm at the grocery store and they ask me "Would you like a bag (bayg)" lol.

I'm all for indie but I really thought more games would look like Limbo\Dust: An Elysian Tale and less like shit. Honestly though I'm thinking maybe it's a bit jarring to see an Infamous Second Son and a Nidhog side by side. Gameplay rules over all but I still prefer a great looking game. Happy about Spelunky coming to the PS4, It's been my crack lately.

I did undergrad at Madison (and grew up in MN), and literally the opposite occurred. Occasionally people would try to tell me "bagel" was pronounced bag-el, because bag is pronounced bag. So I'd mess with them by referring to bags as baygs

I'm so torn by this post it is not even funny.

I am not sure I totally agree with this, there are some slight nuances with people from Wisconsin. I do not think the accent is as crazy as what you normally get in Minnesota, the UP, or the Dakotas though.

With that said, you guys annoy the shit out of me with the bubblers and the "on line" instead of "in line" nonsense.

Good examples here of the words that seem a bit off with in Wisconsin.

Note that I am not making fun. I grew up in the south. I speak the rare dialect known as hick of the 'Murican base language.

That sounds terrible. Definitely killed any curiousity I had about the game.

I'm starting to think I enjoy indies more than "AAA" games.
Yeah I made this transition a while back. It's also nice that indies are usually 5-10 hours and then I get to move on to something else. I like Borderlands and stuff as much as the next guy but 40 hours of that shit wears me out.

I'm up to like 30 hours in FFX and haven't beat the game yet let alone grinded out everyone's sphere grids until my eyeballs fall out of my butt. There was this time where people were equating length with quality (tee hee) and you can definitely find evidence in games like Borderlands and Final Fantasy, but I sincerely hope those days are over.
