The main problem I have with Nintendo at this point is they are doing their own thing inside their own bubble. They don't give a shit about their own consumers so why should we care? Your new strategy is to make Skylanders toys and get into the health sector? They have already proven to be spreading themselves too thin to release games in a timely fashion so now you go after other markets instead of focusing on where you are hurting the most GAMES!

It's simple why I went with Sony this gen. GAMES GAMES GAMES. Oh yeah it's a Monday we just announced 12 new indie games. Oh e3 were going to bring GAMES. Oh I just took a shit here are some more GAMES. Here are our old as fuck games from PS1 up. Here's playstation now to deliver you GAMES in more places. By the way here are some mobile GAMES for no reason whatsoever. If you build it (GAMES) they will come.

Games are what's most important. I like my 3DS XL, but the games coming for it that I want are few and far between. This is the exact same for the PS4 (mainly cause of my lack of interest in PS4 games slated for later this year though there may be more). Now Vita is where the action is imho. Lots of unique localizations there that are just fun to play and look great. 

I'm getting tired of the same old franchises and a bunch of tired games. I just want newer game franchises and some generally interesting ideas. I'm just about ready to pass on any FPS cause of the lack of interesting stuff, and plus I generally stink at that genre.

Just my 2 cents, but in the end games are what's most important, and hopefully new, original, fun ideas are what win in the end.

I guess you don't consider releasing 30 Mario games and 50 Pokemon remakes per console "games". God, you're so blind and so biased toward Sony.
 
Ah, I was looking up Persona 2 thinking to re-buy it on the store and thus be able to play it on my Vita. Looks like I got it backwards, Innocent Sin is the one that never came to North America. 

Not that anyone cares, I just don't like knowingly spreading false information.

P.S. I don't get this current Nintendo vs Sony argument. I like games from both companies.

I just wish festivals didn't suck so much now and days. I loved when Coachella, ACL Fest or Bonnaroo would announce the lineups and I'd be stoked to go. Now festivals get a few bands you might want to see and fill the rest with shit. Bonnaroo this year has a lot of good bands but Coachella and ACL Fest stink.

Looks like the only festival I'll probably check out is the Huck Finn Fest to see String Cheese Incident play 2 nights. Yeah I like hippie bands does that make me a hipster?

Would anyone recommend another atlus game on sale over P3P or is it the cream of the crop?

Crimson Gem Saga is supposed to be pretty good. If you're going in fresh to P3, I'd say P3P is a better way to play P3 than FES, just due to some small and large improvements. That alone maybe justifies picking up P3P above the rest of the selection.

I ended up purchasing CGS, Persona 1, Kenka Bancho, and Yggdra Union. $5 is low enough for me to buy some portable games I'm semi-interested in.

To be fair, we had a ton of big releases last year. This year is going to be sparse because Nintendo is focusing on the Wii U now. The reason we had all those games in 2012/2013 was because after the shitty 3DS launch, Nintendo immediately went into overdrive making games for the 3DS to boost sales (as dev cycles are generally ~2 years, it took a while for us to see the effects), and it worked. If they have any sense, they're doing the same thing with the Wii U, and we'll start seeing a lot more games for it in the next year or so (because once again, development takes time).

For this year, I'm content with Kirby and the new Pokemon remakes, as Ruby/Sapphire were some of the worst games in the series imo, and needed to remade the most (aside from the original Red, Green, Blue). Can't wait to never have to touch RancidRuby or ShitSapphire ever again.

Besides, you should be happy as the Vita will get more of the spotlight this year (it definitely has the better release schedule).

Couldn't agree more! Can't understand why people continue to accept Nintendo's crappy, gimmicky hardware and act like it's great stuff. It's crystal clear that Nintendo makes the cheapest possible hardware (to keep their profit margins up), then cobbles in a bad gimmick to try to reel people in. Worked well for Wii (which actually died years ago in terms of software support, and only caught on as a fad), but failed miserably for Wii U. And the 3DS followed the same formula (and had to have a huge price cut just 5 months after launch, obviously wasn't worth close to $250); why can't Nintendo just make good, solid, non-gimmicky hardware anymore?

Nintendo is just a gaming company... and they are not doing anything to change the massive losses they are getting. The biggest part of their company that is profitable is the handheld sector. If Nintendo were smart... they would just focus on the handhelds and release software as a third party. They would make bank bringing Mario and the like to Xbox and Playstation, and the Handhelds speak to themselves. Heck they could make it where the 3ds connects to a TV and then you get a similar Wii/Wii U experience. Everyone knows Iwata is doing nothing as a CEO to try and fix Nintendo's problems, and unless he does something, Nintendo could be completely done.

The chart I posted only compares Nintendo to Sony's gaming division. Yes, they've taken huge losses. Yes, they've mishandled Wii U. My point is that they've been consistently more healthy than both Sony and Playstation. They've achieved this by being conservative as fuck, to a fault at times (like many Japanese companies).

What I still can't understand are the calls for them to abandon ship and "go third party". Based on the information at hand how can you hold that position? Professor? Anyone. Why is Wii U's lack of traction worse than Vita's? Why is PS3's five year loss permissible but Wii U's one and half not? Why is Nintendo's push for 3D worse than Sony's? Why is Nintendo "gimmicky" for pursuing NFC yet Sony not for pouring millions in to VR?

The lopsided pseudo-analysis is just funny to me. Sure, I'd like for more of you to give them a chance, but it's whatever. I'd like for me people to buy a Vita as well. People want they want, though. You'll notice most of us so-called Nintendo "fans" actually play a little bit of everything. Craziness.

Eh, that's not necessarily true. I may identify myself as a Nintendo fan, and I do own a Vita, but every group has the people who like one system over the others, and the people who think that their choice is the only correct one and everyone who disagrees are blind ignorant fanboys.

I gotta agree with others though, let's move on from Nintendo and talk about.... other things. Like Nuclear Throne! Man, that Vlambeer is a pretty solid up-and-comer.

Nope, what I said is absolutely true. The people here who might be considered Nintendo fans play on damn near everything. And in the Nintendo threads, no one ever talks about Playstation. Not sure what any of that could mean, though....

And so now we must move on.... after pages of anti Nintendo and Microsoft rhetoric (across different days, mind you) to my 4 posts, lolol? I don't know how it always devolves into people giving testimonials of why they "don't like Mario anymore" or prefer playing on vita. Mmmkay? All I wanted to know is, given the information, why it's certain Nintendo will go third party (as was posited the other day)?

I have no problem with super-hard platformers like Super Meat Boy, the only reason I dislike Spelunky is because there's no checkpoint/save system. Does La Mulana have checkpoints and stuff, or is it like Spelunky where you die 3 times and you're playing the whole game over again?

I have heard that La Mulana has some extremely subtle puzzles.
