I was just thinking about my backlog too! But guess I'm different. E3 gets me hyped to work on my backlog. Just finished rearranging my current gen physical games and installed my Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 after watching the KH3 videos. Also picked up a year's worth of gamepass and deciding if I want a 2nd year. Also locked in my free For Honor for PC.

I'm a habitual start a game and never finish gamer. When I love a game I never want it to end so I stop so I can go back later and enjoy it more then something else catches my eye. Trying to break this habit but too many good games keep getting released!

Reading some of these posts makes me thankful I burned through my backlog. I've got maybe 3 games in my backlog. The only one that isn't current gen is Little King's Story. Other than that it's just Ni No Kuni 2 and Yakuza 6.  I had quite a few games but I was pretty cut throat with them and either I just got rid of them or I beat them. i just couldn't deal with the overwhelming feeling that they caused me. I completely stopped buying games for about a year and just forced myself to sit with the games I own and really assess whether I really wanted to spend my valuable time with some of them. If I did, I made myself beat it before the next game. It worked for me.

Even then though, this E3 seems a bit lacking overall. I mean, I think Captain Spirit looks pretty awesome and Cyberpunk 2077..but that is about all for now. With Yakuza 2 coming out over the summer then RDR 2, I just have to pick and chose more wisely. Ah well.

Are there any e3 stream watching promotions that give you free stuff for playstation?
Just watch a few trailers from the daily reveals to get a code for a dynamic theme. Most of the quests they have on live.playstation.com are going to be for during the three main days of the show to tune into the stream for each day among other tasks.

I didn't end up going to PSX because it's 2+ hours away but luckily I signed up my sister's name as guest and she was able to use my name and got in with a friend.

They're giving:

$10 for PSN Store

1,000 Sony Reward Points (basically another $10)

Fortnite Pack

Guacamelee! 2

TERA

Tetris Effect Theme

Warframe DLC

World of Tanks Viper Pack

I think I'm actually gonna take a step back from new games/gens from here on as well. Outside of a select few games (which were a large part of the reason I got a PS4 at all), there isn't really anything I'm looking forward to. I think I actually will start working on the backlog once this next round is over.

WTF, that's what you get for going to the theater? Guacamelee! 2 plus the $20 is way better than anything I got from going the previous 2 years.

Yup, I went last year and the digital goods weren't that good. I guess the goods were better this year because it's less theaters.

I'm trying to figure out how to redeem this Sony Rewards voucher and can't find where to enter it. I have Sony Rewards and can't find it. If anyone know lemme know.

PlayStation conference notes:

  • The Last of Us Part 2 gameplay demo.
  • Black Ops 3 getting four remastered maps from Black Ops.
  • Black Ops 3 is coming to PS+ tonight.
  • God of War is getting a New Game+ update later this year.
  • Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion is out 9/4.
  • Ghost of Tsushima gameplay demo. Looks great. Very bloody.
  • Control trailer, which is the new Remedy game.
  • Resident Evil 2 remake shown, which is out 1/25/19.
  • New Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer with a Pirates of the Caribbean world. KH-themed PS4 Pro model on the way. KH3 includes the two remaster collections with it? 1/29/19
  • Death Stranding is very weird.
  • Nioh 2! Team Ninja is back to make the sequel.
  • Spider-Man gameplay demo shows Electro, Scorpion, Rhino, Vulture, and Mr. Negative as the villains in this sequence. Somebody shows up just in time to save Spider-Man, but it cuts out before the reveal.
  • From Software is working on a PSVR game called Deracine. It's more of an artistic thing compared to everything else they've made lately.
  • Dreams is getting a beta later this year.

God damn that was so awful. It's like an even shittier Batman game. And now there's a banana playing guitar.

E3 truly is where gaming goes to die.

Remedy jumped ship! That’s gotta be rough on the Xbox team. I wasn’t a fan of Quantum break but I figured they would stick with Microsoft.

Remedy jumped ship! That’s gotta be rough on the Xbox team. I wasn’t a fan of Quantum break but I figured they would stick with Microsoft.
That was announced a while ago.

I actually thought the xbox show was weird myself, lots of amazing looking games at it but everything that I wanted to play shown there was multi-platform.

Almost like Sony told 3rd parties to go to Microsoft because they are only focusing on PlayStation exclusive games.  Show was worse than last years, and that felt like a miss.

I can't believe these negative responses.

Best conference, by far, of this year's E3, and one of the best E3 conferences of all time.

They put great care into setting the mood for their big games, treating each of them with respect, showing them off for the finely crafted products that they are.

In comparison, the rest of the conferences were generally over caffeinated hype, trying to build buzz on every little mundane detail that they could.

And then there was the incredibly mysterious From reveal to cap it off, not to mention RE2 Remake, which blew my mind with how good it looks.

Well, I had a funny feeling this year would be lacking and my gut is never wrong. Last of Us is nothing without Joel; if this is truly focusing on Ellie then I just can't see myself playing it. Ghost of Tsushima looks great but my open world sandbox fill is already coming from RDR2, Fallout 76, Just Cause 4, and the next Elder Scrolls. Death Stranding: would play for Norman Reedus alone but I already know it's going to be a mindfuck of no idea wtf is going on in the game. Resident Evil 2 remake is awesome, but a remaster nobody asked for. 10/10 would rather see Demon's Souls remaster over that VR game as well.

For me at least, Bethesda knocked it out of the park in their last half and was the only hype this year.

Games look great. Kind of disappointed the the PS4 pro special edition was for kh3. Really wanted a Spider-Man PS4 pro. Seems like Sony is trying to offer some extra kh3 stuff for more market share as the game is now multiplatform.

Black Ops 3 is now free for PS4 for PS+ users. You have to search for black ops on store.playstation.com, add black ops 3 to cart using the little button and then check out (edit: page didn't have the add to cart button for me when I checked at the time). Probably can do the same on your console.

You're kidding, right? I can see someone that is interested in all those games enjoying it, and saying it was better than the MS one, but come on. Best of all time? Really?

Lol, yeah. I don't think anything will top a few years ago when Sony came out guns blazing at Microsoft. The "Official Playstation Used Game Instructional Video" is maybe the best thing Sony has ever put out at E3. That said I am not down on the conference myself, I want to play just about everything I saw there, I just didn't need each major game to have a music act before it.

Personally I felt that the first 40 minutes was a waste of my time. Theres no way combat in TLOS2 is gonna be that scripted is there? Ghost of Tsunami looked beautiful but I couldn't stop thinking "Shogun: Zero Dawn of War". Maybe I'm just burned out on the style. Then the flow of the conference was just nonstop game clips. Pacing was terrible and it just ended abruptly. It'll make for a great YouTube recap stream but live it was so annoying to watch.

Spider Man looks amazing and fun. Death Stranging just keeps on getting weirder. RE2 was cool but I played the original - do we need a remake? Well maybe if it was VR... Which the OTS perspective seems to not be made for it. And speaking of remakes... Not a single FFVII update?

And where was VR? The after-show talked about the next several days schedule and some cool VR games on that list were nowhere to be found at the main show. And it's not like they were hurting on time.

Literally, all Sony had to do was be like "here's a bunch of clips", put 90-120 minutes of videos, drop the mic and rake in the praises of another E3 won. How'd they manage to screw that up?

I think this was my favorite of the conferences tbh. Though it was cool to see either a new trailer or a first trailer for some games from the other shows.

I was super excited to see The Last of Us part 2, whether it was just another trailer or gameplay. Not disappointed there. I imagine there will be a lot of bitching due to that kiss though, just because people are still so judgemental these days.

Very pleasantly surprised about Ghost of Tsushima. I was interested when it was originally announced, but after seeing that gameplay, I'm sold. It reminds me a lot of a Japanese Witcher game, just based on the weather effects and the movement/combat.

Spiderman looks neat. I'd probably play that.

Definitely glad they're adding NG+ in God of War. I was hoping for some DLC, but I'm happy with what they announced.

Death Stranding still looks like a clusterfuck of confusion to me.

Did any of you watch the other conferences? They were alright, but just a random bombardment of "here's our new games". They have cool moments, but sitting through them from beginning to end was largely a chore.

Sony's presentation was an actual experience, crafted to be watchable for 90 minutes straight during prime TV/relaxtion time for people in the US.

E3 saved the best for last. None of the other conferences this year could follow that.

Yes. 100%
Well I guess some people enjoy warmed over leftovers from last year's show sprinkled in a bunch of different locations with a banjo show thrown in and a panelist conversation right in the middle of the show. There is no accounting for taste.

Personally, the Nioh 2 title screen was the high point.

This. I was waiting for some VR trailers as well. I’ve seriously been considering getting a PSVR this week, but I wanted to see what was coming in the future, and only seeing two or three trailers for VR so far is making me wary. Hope Sony doesn’t treat VR like it did the Vita.

If Nioh 2 has a map I will give it a shot.

I too was disappointed in the quantity of VR games tonight. However, I still would strongly recommend getting a PSVR. I think the games that are currently out justify the price, and over the next couple of years we are sure to get at least a few more gems.

I watch every conference every year and it's not because I want someone to put on a show for me, the "bombardment of new games" is literally what I want from an E3 conference. Every time one of these guys breaks out a musical number or weird skit I usually just go and browse the internet until video games come back.
