both my Gran Turismo and R&C worked.

For the record, the R&C is only a rather crappy avatar, so don't sweat that one. The GT stuff is actually useful, though i harbor serious doubts i'll ever get to it.

You guys should pay attention to the games you buy right when you buy them, and create a simple spreadsheet for the games that have any sort of downloadable content included. That's what I do. If I buy a game that has any sort of valuable DLC inside it, I usually trade or sell it right away. That's what I did with the R&C and Killzone Trilogies.

supposedly 49.99 should be good enough to get the 10 dollars back if ur unsure just be a avatar or something for .50 cents

So with all of the OCD about games expiring DLC codes, do you people bother with Blu-ray movies with digital copy and UV codes? Those are way more annoying to me since there's no standardization of redeeming/using them.
So I got PS+ earlier last month for $49.99, will I get $10 back, or do I need to buy more stuffs?
Did you buy it after 2/26? If so, you're good.

i don't actually care too much about dlc. i usually sell the codes on amazon, didn't even realize GT or RnC had codes. I haven't even touched DLC i care about and paid extra for (like the GTA4 or RDR dlc).

I wish everyone gave/sold me their unused UV codes though... I love watching films via UV but don't buy physical movies anymore so can't get the codes, and most services massively overcharge to actually buy films digitally (or rent, for that matter). If services got their prices in line, with, say, Redbox, I'd be renting movies on a regular basis.

R&C code didn't work but I d/led the GT5 ones. Thanks for the reminder.

Also, between Leviathan and Omega DLCs for ME3, any recommendations? I'm gonna pick up Citadel and one of them to hit another $50 promotion cap.

Just redeemed my Gran Turismo 5 XL and Ratchet codes, and thank goodness both of them worked! The GT5XL download was only 300 KB. So it's only a download key?

My free PS+ trial code from God of War Saga didn't work, but wasn't as worried about that one as much.

I haven't played Omega yet (waiting for a XBL sale) but I hear it's pretty disappointing. I have played through Leviathan a couple of times and I give it an 8/10 or so. It's pretty worthwhile.

Btw, what is the best method for looking up how much you've spent this month again? I know there was discussion for it earlier in this topic. I think I'm pretty close to the $50.

I tried to redeem the 30day PS+ voucher that came with my BF superslim bundle but it says it's expired or invalid. The writing on the voucher says it's "valid through 3/31/2013", so I called into playstation support and the rep told me that means it expired at 12am on 3/31/13. I tried to tell her that the use of the word "through" indicates that the date printed is included and that she was describing the word "until".

She told me there is a system in place for lost/damaged downloadable codes where you send in your receipt and copy of voucher and they send you a replacement. I'm not sure how many of you have kept your receipts from November, but I know that I don't have it anymore. I am taking a picture of all of my games/handhelds/peripherals and sending it in with the voucher in hopes that someone on the receiving end sees it and credits me a replacement voucher.

Honestly, 4 months until expiration is a very short time, and I hope companies do away with the whole expiring code system.

Leviathan is the better choice, helps build back-story for the series. If you really love Aria though, then get Omega.

With the spend $50/get $10 promo and now the $10 BBY certificate, I've recently discovered Pinball Arcade :). I originally dismissed it as another virtual pinball game, until I realized they were recreating actual tables. I picked up the starter and (of course) Twilight Zone, but I had a question for anyone that knows.

I know that the Pro Table pack for Elvira Scared Stiff allows you to turn off "family mode" and it adds additional innuendos and comments from Elvira (which I'd clearly prefer). Are there any other tables like this where I'd want the pro table over the regular one? I'd rather save the extra by buying the pro tables up front.

Yeah, it really is bullshit. I bought Ni No Kuni a couple of months ago (Japanese version), and it came with a packed-in DLC code for a pet monster. Lo and behold, the DLC code expired just a couple of months before I bought it. Why the hell is content that's included with the initial purchase just not placed on the disc to begin with? o_o

"Here's the finished game that you just bought, but we're going to seal off part of the game's content and have it expire in a few months, ensuring that part of the game is forever lost to history."

Regardless of how minor the content itself is, that's a very irritating way to publish a game.

Nope, I don't bother with digital copy/UV codes, I don't have a smartphone with a big screen and my monthly download cap is fairly restrictive so it seems fairly pointless to download something that I already have on disc.

All these dates prompted me to finally use my Catwoman code that I got with Arkham City back in 2011. Saw that the thing expires in 2023 or some date like that.

Wonder why other games can't do this.

I'm so mad at Sony I can't put it into words. From assuming that Sony PSN codes never expired like Xbox Live codes never expire to finding out yesterday that most codes expire quickly (or even early), my opinion of Sony has really fallen. I'm seriously never going to trust that the DLC on any Sony game is going to work again, so I won't go out of my way or pay more to buy a PS3 limited edition (as I did with Darksiders II) over the Xbox version. I went through many games today and had several non-working codes for stuff I bought brand new (a few which had no expiration dates) on the following:

Gran Turismo 5 XL
Need for Speed: The Run online pass - mad I paid extra for the Limited Edition
Rage Wasteland Sewer Missions
Resistance 3 online pass
SOCOM 4
Top Spin 4 avatar item
Uncharted 2 GOTY - especially mad I paid extra for the GOTY version for nothing

Darksiders II Limited Edition - darksiders.com/tomb doesn't work - I guess this one is THQ rather than Sony's fault

I guess I'm hosed on the ones with expiration dates listed, and the others I'll have to go through pain with Sony to try to find the original receipts. I still haven't finished going through everything.

Question: Is the only DLC inside Batman Arkham City the "play as Catwoman" code or is there anything else? I already redeemed a Catwoman code someone gave me long ago, so I don't need to open mine yet if that's all there is inside.

By the way, the not very active thread about PS3 DLC code expirations is incredibly incomplete: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312388&page=4

I doubt anyone reads that thread any more, so I'll ask here in my spoiler if any of the following PS3 games have DLC codes inside. These are ones I haven't opened yet, don't want to, and which my (educated) guess says they shouldn't have DLC. If people could peek through the list in my spoiler and let me know if they see anything with DLC codes inside, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I believe...

FF XIII / XIII-2 has Square Enix points, not sure if those expire. Also early copies of XIII have an item for XIV.
MvC 3 CE has a code for the 2 DLC characters.
MLB 12 has an online pass I believe.
Starhawk has an online pass.
Tiger Woods has DLC I believe, don't recall what.
but this is all I know of.

I opened all my ps3 games before 2012 ended just to make sure nothing else had a code. Sadly all the games (about 25) I opened had no codes lol

Maybe people shouldn't be buying all these games if they're never going to play them. Or open them right away and redeem the code. While expiration dates suck, a little due diligence on your parts would have easily prevented this from happening.

I'm sorry, I don't understand the "Crap, now I have to open my games!" attitude. If you're buying games, with the intent of never opening them...why do you care if the DLC expires? The only reason you'd want the DLC is to enjoy with the game or to sell for money. Either one of these involves you opening the game. So to get upset that you have to open a game that you'll have to end up opening in the future really just makes no sense.

And if you're buying games with the intention of just keeping them sealed forever...it doesn't matter if the DLC expires.
Honestly, 4 months until expiration is a very short time, and I hope companies do away with the whole expiring code system.
While I absolutely agree 4 months is too fast, it does make sense to have expiration dates to prevent issues with people complaining in 20 years that it's not working.

Also, in some cases DLC time limits might be related to licensing issues? Not sure, but seems possible in the case of say, sports, music/soundtracks, and cars.
With the spend $50/get $10 promo and now the $10 BBY certificate, I've recently discovered Pinball Arcade :).
while i can't answer your elvira question, i can recommend grabbing Medieval Madness...

a couple things -- many of the games you listed aren't even published by Sony. So why be mad at them?

Second, remember these are backlog games you haven't played in the months/years you've had them, and realistically very likely may never play. so while it sucks you didn't get the dlc, it's not like it's the end of the world or anything. i mean, sure, i smiled when i got my crappy Ratchet/Clank avatar today, but really, i'm never going to use it, it's ugly, and wasn't even worth the time typing it in. likewise, the odds that i'm ever going to spend even a minute with my new gran turismo dlc are slim.

i'm not trying to excuse the expiration dates, because i do think it should last a couple years at least, but taking a deep breath and stepping back from it does help.
So to get upset that you have to open a game that you'll have to end up opening in the future really just makes no sense.
While I think someone mentioned they like keeping them sealed for extra protection, your logic is sound.

And technically, if you're careful opening them you can slid it back in a slit plastic casing to keep that extra level of protection against general shelf wear. Or have them laminated, lol.

The REAL question is... Why do they think they can sell Sagas-n-things with codes that expire. Dump the expiration dates or put the code expiration date/s on the front of the package. Simple. Doesn't take a rocket scientist or any other foolishness. Very simple.

Let's say you fill your gas tank up and it turned to crude oil in a week with half a tank left. I think you'd be p'ed off, too.
Seems better to buy used, then you will KNOW you don't have a code.
I've bought used games that came with unused codes plenty of times. Besides, how is that better? I'd rather have a potentially expired code than no code at all.

Wrapped up my spend $50 get $10 back buying. Ended up with 8 games, 7 of them being Vita games. I think I need to slow down on my Vita buying, there's not gonna be anything left for PS+ to give me for free. :)

I read that there's a "family mode" on the pro table of MM too, but nobody seems to know if anything is changed. I know that the cursing is still bleeped, but that's by design.

I'm not hardcore enough to buy all the pro tables, I just don't want to pay extra b/c I found out later on about sound bytes or stuff like on Scared Stiff.

finally got around to playing asphalt injection from the previous sale. it's quite a fun racer... definitely has a slightly budget feel (like all gameloft games), but competent and most importantly very fun. seems like a huge amount of content as well.

Question: Is the only DLC inside Batman Arkham City the "play as Catwoman" code or is there anything else? I already redeemed a Catwoman code someone gave me long ago, so I don't need to open mine yet if that's all there is inside.
I PM'd you earlier, think you must not have seen it.

I have a code for GT5 XL I'm not using, shows as being eligible to activate on the website. Do you want it?

It's sad that the DLC for Costume Quest and Stacking are more expensive than the games themselves...

I think I will get Red Faction Battlegrounds to round out my $100. I had the game and DLC before from a gameshare, got the DLC packs finished, but never finished the main game's trophies. I'll just self boost the trophies to get it over with...

Edit: After reading the stuff above, I checked my GT5XL voucher and was able to redeem it on the website just fine.

I have no sympathy for people who have DLC codes that expired.

With that said, I highly doubt I input my Resistance 3 online pass so I hope that still works. I am surprised that an online pass would have an expiration date. I'm going to go through my collection for anything else I might have missed. If I did miss something though, I'm blaming myself, not someone else.

UBICHI - I've PM'd you a second time. Code for GT5XL DLC is waiting for you. I've got to go out for the night, so can't watch this thread just now.

If you end up not using it, please post it to the thread incase someone else can use it, since it's expiring very soon.

Evening folks :)

I almost had my GoW collection codes for the PSP remakes expire before I got to use them because I kept it sealed and simply didn't expect it to expire.

I just happened to open it up sometime early March and noticed the expiration date was end of the month.

I wonder what that means to everyone who buys a sealed GoW collection from a place after March? That basically means they won't be getting two games that they were promised.

Whaaaat? You gotta be shitting me.

Actually I think they just create new expiration dates on future prints of those games.

I bought a new copy of Gran Turismo 5 XL today and the code said it expires March 31, 2015.
Kind of surprised it is stand alone and not DLC.

Anyway I hope this means that it is going to be much longer and not a dlc length game for a full PSN price, that would be really shitty.
Most DLC is PSN priced though.

Just as a reminder, it's April Fool's Day tomorrow, so don't believe anything said here without a link and even skeptical about those that do if it's not from an official source.
