I tried both the console and the web interface several times. I have no idea why I was so unlucky. On the positive side, Sony is open 7 days a week with pretty good hours, so I contacted them. On the negative side, now I have to find my old receipt and mail it and the voucher code in hopes of getting my content. If it were something trivial I wouldn't care but the DLC for Gran Turismo 5 XL is pretty significant.

So, this experience got me wondering what other unopened games I have that have expiring (or expired) DLC. I searched Google and couldn't find a list, so I started going title by title putting " PS3 DLC voucher code expir*" and for most of them there were no results, but I don't think that's a reliable way.

Is there any way I can find out which PS3 games have DLC voucher codes inside without opening them all? If I posted a list of all my unopened games, could people help me identify those games or would that be considered bad in this thread?
Check the thread in the PS3 forum.

So, I haven't been following the thread too closely.

But is the general consensus to avoid the two Kayne and Lynch games,
and pick Red faction Armageddon over Guerrilla?

Guerilla over Armageddon.

No. Not at all.

So I ended up getting the BL2 season pass, hey gotta have that Ultimate VHM right :p . Either way I have $10 left before reaching the 50, has anyone played Vector? It looks like my kind of game, oh and any recommendations are always welcomed

Sigh. Having to crack open games I recently bought to backlog or lose the DLC is ridiculous, moreso considering it doesn't say anywhere on the cases that they expire.

let me also state that it is Guerrilla over Armageddon

It is annoying when the expiration dates for DLC aren't printed somewhere that you can read without opening up. With all the fine print that is sometimes found on the back of a game, you'd think that they could squeeze it in somewhere.

I agree. It looks like I'm going to be wasting quite a bit of time going through stuff I have to make sure I didn't miss entering any DLCs or online passes. I already see I got screwed on Gran Turismo 5 XL (though I hope Sony will fix it) and darksiders.com/tomb no longer works (probably due to THQ bankruptcy) so I missed that one.

The thread that FriskyTanuki linked to is somewhat helpful though incomplete:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312388
I'm trying to compile my own list from that, what I know, and from reading packages for DLC. If it mentions a DLC, online pass, or I think it might have a code, I'm opening it up.

That's my mindset now also.

Infamous dual or uncharted dual expires end of this month so bought to redeem. This is info i got from amazon to gf and misc sources. I guess they last 1 year with a few exceptions from what i read online. We need a more complete active list. I am shocked no sites keep a decent one going. I know i would save money buying used if codes expired on new.

Interestingly, my Uncharted Dual Pack said it expired mid-2012 but was still working. Gran Turismo and God of War Saga also worked, but Ratchet and Clank Collection and the 1 month of Plus with GoW Saga didn't. Very hit or miss.

Both K+Ls are good, and i very much enjoyed both.

Guerrilla is awesome.

Armageddon was meh.
The actual message from Sony says "loyal customers."
What part of 'that was only in the first message' isn't getting through to you? Or that it's just a word some marketing exec picked not realizing it might offend 'loyal' customers who didn't get it?

Besides, again, that's such a goofy reason to refuse to buy Sony stuff in the future. If anything, it's pretty much proof you -aren't- loyal, therefore they were in the right to begin with.

I'm at $115.40 for the promotion. I'll definitely get to $150- there's plenty of stuff I'd like to have. Just have to figure out what. :)
you know, that 'loyal' thing irked me too -- totally rubbed me the wrong way.

but it took me all of like, i don't know, 5 minutes to get over it. somebody in marketing chose a word to compliment people, and didn't realize it would offend others. big deal.

to decide to stop buying games you want over it is just plain goofy. i mean, seriously, it's just 'imma gonna take my toys and go home' level of goofy.
I agree. I think the key for avoiding disappointment (and I guess, anger) is to not expect it. I never get the Best Buy ones, either, so at this point I just don't get my hopes up. I know that it doesn't help when threads are filled with people saying "I got the $10!", but I say just don't expect anything and you won't be so disappointed.

since you mentioned vector for the vita, i'd also throw in my 2cents for Nuns Attack and Bentley's hackpack (which if you purchase on ps3, you get vita version also!)

Nuns attack took me ~10-20hours to 100% but was pretty fun when you first have up to 2 or 3 max nuns with different upgraded guns, once you get 4 nuns going it almost felt like a chore to constantly keep touchpad'ing them all to attack new enemies constantly (almost like button mashing, but with touchpad if that makes sense?) still a pretty new and different game since i never got in on any ios games.

Bentley's is pretty in depth as well with about 70 levels total across 3 machines, with 5 challenges each level, so if you are a completionist then you'll get replay value out of it definitely. If not then its still worth it for how much content is packed in for $3... and it has 2 copies (ps3 & vita).... although i'm unsure if i'll attempt the ps3 version once i finish out the vita but nice to have the option!
Why aren't you guys opening your games anyways?
personally I keep them sealed for a couple reason. Namely, I think it stays in better condition, with a layer of shrink wrap between it and the other games on the shelf. Also so that in the rare case I buy a game and it goes on sale the next week I can possibly return and rebuy. And lastly if I decide I just plain old don't want it or would rather trade it for something else, sealed is always easier to unload.

Just another heads up, Arkham City GOTY's movie code expires tomorrow, so be sure to redeem it if you haven't already;)

So, I opened up my GOW Saga package, and didn't realize the Origins games were vouchers. Here, I thought they were going to be on disc. Talk about false advertisement. I thought everything was going to be on disc. Good thing I read this tonight, or else I'd be pissed.

How is that false advertisement? They didn't tell you all the games were going to be on discs, you just assumed.

It's not False Advertisement...

qvVUzLK.jpg

The first bold * on the back of the box says that they're vouchers... don't blame Sony because you don't read the box.

i almost bought the guardians of middle earth disk at bestbuy for $30. my girl had just spent like $100 on clothes and i was like yeah well i can throw money around too. then i talked myself out of it, glad i did cuz the dlc was just characters(n no trophies) n the game ended up ps+ freebie and took like a week of casual playing to 100% then forgot bout it. oh yeah, but the point was that the game box said no disk inside just dlc code. how lame would that be to buy the whole retail set for $30 and you get a piece of paper with a code on it. but oh wells probly gonna be like that in the future anyway. cool story bro, lol.

You must be a lawyer, because that fine print amongst an ocean of fine print isn't exactly making it obvious that they are vouchers. And yes, the assumption by me and probably most people is that they are on disc.

That's why I hate all the BS I have to deal with with consoles nowadays.

No offense, but the asterisk right on the front cover that leads to a message on the back cover that two of the games are downloadable versions kind of destroys the "false advertisement" complaint.

You don't have to be a lawyer to know that you can't claim "false advertising" based on what you admit are simply your own assumptions. Again, when you see the asterisk on the big "5" on the front cover, don't you immediately look to see what the asterisk is for? That's like Consumerism 101.

didn't even know GoME was sold in stores. Sounds like the same deal they did for Patapon 2 (or was it 3), with basically a code with a complimentary box to display. Speaking of which, is anyone else weird like me and prints off boxes for their digital games?

No, but now I am interested. Do you print them on to a DVD box or a Blu-Ray Box for the PS3 games?

Wow this would take up so much room for me. With all the Xbl sales, is your imaginary box collection gigantic or what! --no you the quoted poster

Grabbed the new Nobunga's Ambition, a TG16 game, and the Star Wars pinball tables to get just over $50 for the promo. I figured those things were either never going to go on sale or wouldn't do so for many moons.

N if you don't want to download them please share the vouchers here...CAGs would graciously take them off your hand..

Dag nammit. Decided to open my Ratchet Collection, anyway, to check my code for the avatar. Expired! UGH! Though it says the 31st.

Good thing I just got a fresh new system to hoard:)roll:lol) for.:3ds:XL

Can't imagine what they're going to do with PS4.

yeah having expiration dates on dlc codes is stupid, I had brand new copies of God of War Saga, Gran Turismo 5 XL and Ratchet & Clank collection that all have codes that expire today. I would of lost out on all that dlc if I hadn't read this thread.

It's still a problem that nowhere on the box does it say this is a voucher with an expiration date. Picked this up during Black Friday and had a cynical laugh when I opened it up the next month, glad I didn't sit on it and miss out on two of the games I bought.

We still have one copy in the backroom at our store. I'm not looking forward to one day finally selling it and having to deny a return when the customer comes back pissed about there being no indication that the voucher expired today.

This is where we get into a bit of grey... just about every online pass and the like have some sort of expiration date that isn't given. I believe in some cases Sony can help you out, like didn't they extend the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition voucher?

Yeah they extended it but I don't know for how long. I know all the DLC for the God of War CE is expired. Then there are cases where the DLC is expired but still works. I just see putting expiration dates on DLC is just going piss off the person redeeming it and end up on the losing end.

Ratchet seems done. Try your Gran Turismo.
