How stupid my pointing out that you contradicted yourself is or how stupid it was to actually contradict yourself?
How stupid it is to say that you have no right to judge an opinion, genius.
it's the "Everyone Gets A Trophy For Participation" generation.
Hahah, so true, good point.
Getinnwhateverhisnameis's Demon's Souls / Dark Souls snobbery goes WAY beyond any of you can imagine. While I agree with him that the game is great, me and him had some arguments in the Dark Souls thread once because according to him, I wasn't playing it the right way. So good luck guys making your points with him - I wouldn't even bother.
Probably cause you were whining about something stupid. I'm probably gonna get banned for this reply, see you guys in a couple of weeks.
Also, stay far, far away if bad grammar gets under your skin. Multiple instances of their/they're/there and similar errors within the first 5 hours. It's disgustingly clear they didn't spend a cent on finding an editor whose first language is English (or, on the other hand, if someone got paid to edit the scripts, the developers got ripped off big time).
Also stay away from any game from the 80s or 90s while you're at it, because a lot of those have grammar and localization issues. Who cares if their good games when they got they're grammar mixed up.

Demon's Souls is a great addition to the IGC. Blood Omen and Soul Reaver are really tempting at $3 each.

Don't see anything else exciting so I'll give a recommendation to try out "The Cave" from last month if you haven't already. It was fun and gave a gameplay vibe almost like The Lost Vikings, which I liked.

It's fairly short to accommodate multiple playthroughs with different characters to see their stories/puzzles. If you like adventure/puzzle games, bumping it up to the top of your backlog won't be too much of a time investment.

Söldner-X2: Final Prototype and Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer Bundle - $7.99

Does this include the DLC for Söldner-X2 like with the standalone Bundle?
It always confounds me how many people shun and trash talk reboots or games made in a different vein than the original game. It's like impossible to like it no matter what. I happen to like all the tomb raider games including the new one lol. I hope you atleast played the new one.

It's like the cesspool that is gamefaqs forums downing games horribly like tomb raider or devil may cry. And almost all of them end up admitting they never played it and never will cause of some mysterious principle. At least play the game before judging it.

Oh well rant over haha. I'm probably gonna be called a fan boy or something now like they do at gamefaqs to people.
I bought both DmC and Tom Braider day 1 for the PC.

I can defend my position, if that's what you're wondering. For both games it boils down to sucking out the gameplay in favor really simple and bland cinematic stuff. You can't argue that's exactly what both reboots did.

and guess what? both missed sales expectations! Yay!!!! DmC didn't even outsell DMC4 and Tomb Raider maybe outsold the sequels after TR4. This is especially tasty with DmC, since Capcom basically flat out tried to convince people that A) DMC4 didn't sell well and that B) the series was stale. DMC4 sold well and the combat in the game is arguably the best (albeit with a bad campaign mode.)

So yeah, the old Tomb Raider games were popular for a reason and they're still fun and unique to this day. In 10 years, we'll look at the reboot and see how not unique it is...it's just an amalgamation of AAA game features thrown onto a scared, but brutally murderous pair of tits.

At the very least, you can't go wrong with TR1, 2, and 4 for about $11 with this sale. I'm gonna get them for my vita...after i check that they're compatible.

No, it just includes the games since the bundle was created a few months before the DLC was released.
Also stay away from any game from the 80s or 90s while you're at it, because a lot of those have grammar and localization issues. Who cares if their good games when they got they're grammar mixed up.

I don't care if you didn't like the game. I took issue with you saying it requires grinding and that you 'ran through' it. While it's possible to run through, only very experienced players can do so, and to imply you did it on your first run isn't an issue of 'opinion', but just simply being misleading to 99.9% of anyone who hasn't played it. You can't run through the game on your first playthrough. And even if you magically did, no one else can or will.

And as for grinding, the game requires none. There's an entire scene dedicated to beating the game with level 1 characters.

I don't care if you absolutely hated the game, but your criticisms were in part wrong, and in part misleading to someone who never played it (grinding).

I hate games that require grinding, and that's part of what I love about DS... it doesn't require even a single minute of it (unless you want to plat it, in which case you'll likely need to grind out a couple materials, pure bladestone being the main culprit).

While you weren't responding to me, and i didn't call anyone stupid, the issue for me is his criticisms aren't 'opinions', but simply factually incorrect. To claim a game is a grindfest when zero grinding is required is not an opinion, it's just wrong. Note I didn't take issue with him finding it boring, because that's opinion. That said, his criticism of it being boring sounds more like a result of his playstyle than the game itself, since the things he attributed to that aren't required in the game.
I never said the game required grinding. Go back and read my post since you're apparently lacking some comprehension skills today. I said that the hardest part of the game is the grinding for stones. I never said that you were going to be required to do this grinding, just that it was the only difficult aspect of the game. Sorry if you don't like the fact that this game you've put on a pedestal isn't as revered by everyone as it is you, but that's life. I never said it was a grindfest. Please, please, please, actually read the post before you respond next time. Me stop putting words in my mouth. Never said the game required grinding.
He isn't the first who thought that way about the game, and he probably isn't the last. Just because the majority seem to love the game doesn't mean his opinion isn't valid. Certainly dismissing it by calling it "stupid" is kinda, well, stupid.
To play devil's advocate, an opinion that someone else's opinion is stupid is no more invalid than an opinion that a game sucks, or any other opinion, for that matter.

Including your opinion that his dismissal itself is stupid.

If no one ever tried to avoid a debate by saying "well, it's my opinion" ever again, I'd be a much happier man. We all know it's your opinion; you should still be ready and able to defend it with facts and/or logic of some sort. This thinking that everyone is a snowflake and their opinions matter, no matter how uninformed (not saying that's the case here, just making a broad point) is terrible and does not encourage critical thinking or even the necessary ability to withhold your opinion if you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

/soapbox :)
I want Soldner-X, but am confused on which bundle I should get since the difference is only about a dollar. Any suggestions?
One bundle has both games. The other just has the second game with its DLC. So it depends on what you want.

Want everything? Get the first game solo and the complete bundle of the second game for $10.98.

Want just the games? Get the bundle with both games for $7.99 and enjoy.

What just one game? Pick one of the games and get it for $3.99 or $4.99. My video of the second game will be done in about 90 minutes, so I'll post the links for now.

I'm glad I didn't open Demon's Souls.

Is Rainbow Moon worth the price? I was hoping it'd be 75% off.
How stupid it is to say that you have no right to judge an opinion, genius.
I wasn't saying that. I was pointing out how hilarious it was for you to basically say "If you state an opinion, you're allowed to be judged for that opinion, so don't get mad when I do."

You are obviously not the brightest crayon in the box.

While captaintek3304 trolling is nothing new (remember his whole I know why Spelunker / Demon Souls remark), I think his opinion is at least a lot more valid this time. You literally can run though the game if you want, you might die a lot / have problems, but it can totally be done. Just like not every mistake instantly equals death, which is different than people basically implying any screw up will result in a death.

In any case, at least he has the platinum, so he isn't totally and completely talking out his ass. (I do agree with a good percent of it though)
Rainbow moon to me is just a really mediocre SRPG. It pretty much got praise for being being an indie title (which does give it some points). The story is almost nonexistent, the customization is lacking, and the battles are just average as there is very little strategy to this rpg. I played a lot of SRPGs from triple A and small budget and this just falls flat. If I offended anyone who honestly enjoyed the game but there are my opinions.

Honestly I can only recommend it if your pretty new to SRPGs or like that "indie" feel.
I second this 100%.

Just deleted all the stuff you referenced here. I haven't banned anyone even though they explicitly asked for it - I do not abuse my power and recuse myself from decisions on banning the very few CAGs I have problems with. I kept your quote here because the last part is very perceptive and gets to the heart of that guy's problem.

In any case, to summarize: Demon's Souls is a nearly universally praised game that is just not for everyone. But it is now free (for PS+) so you might as well try it if you haven't. End of discussion in this thread - if anyone wants to talk more about the game itself go to the Demon's Souls thread:

Weird, whatever posts got deleted actually ended up shrinking the whole thread down by a page.

Another week of nothing that I want. I'd say PS+ is not worth it but I've already gotten my 50 bucks worth of quality. And last week's Disgaea 3 is so much fun that I'm glad I'll have no new games to distract me.

That's because I deleted several posts. And yeah, I need to start Disgaea 3. Despite owning just about all of them (back to the PS2) I've never played any but it is already on my Vita queued up to play. As soon as I finish Etrian Odyssey IV...

Much like me!

I finally sat down and finished Disgaea 1 a bit ago, then started on Disgaea 2.. still have 4. I bought 3 twice; once on PS3 (then never got around to it..saw a PS Vita version coming out, took it back), then on Vita (..then IGC, so traded it in for a nice chunk).

While each one is a steady improvement, I might just skip ahead to 3.

so this is a little off topic, but I'm hoping I can get some suggestions. I've downloaded most every PS+ game save infamous 2 and spec ops, that has been released since february. I want to try Demon's souls, but I've run out of space. So I need some suggestions on short games I can hurry up and play through so I can delete them to make some room. So, any thoughts?
Demons Souls...greatest game of all time? More like most boring game of all time. I platinum'd it a while ago, and did so by literally just running through the entire game. So anyone who says "You can't just rush through it like you can every other game these days" is wrong. The only hard part about the game is suffering through hours upon hours of doing the same, tedious grinding while you wait for a shard or chunk of a certain stone to drop from an enemy. Go stick some pencils in your eyes, it's more fun and looks better than Demons Souls.

In my opinion, of course.
You platinum'd a "boring, tedious, better go stick some pencils in your eyes" game?
That's one of the most pathetic and disgraceful things I have ever read around here

Have you gone through your game data and deleted everything from games you won't play again? I did that a couple months ago and freed up like 120 GB worth of space.

well considering a load of people played Hannah Montana just for the platinum...it could be worse...but I do agree that it's stupid to spend so much time with a game you hate

yeah, I've only got 1-2 big install now, and that's after deleting a ton of games I was planning to replay. And I've only got the 160gb HDD

Nah, I don't mean deleting the actual games themselves, I mean the game data (patches, DLC, etc.). When you're in the game section of the XMB, and go all the way to the top. The second folder should be the Game Data Utility folder. Go in there and delete everything from games that you don't plan on playing again.

Not only have I gotten my 50 bucks worth... it's only 3 months in, which means 9 months of gravy.

Ion Assault gameplay looks interesting (i love dual stick shooters)... at $2 it's probably a buy, but does anyone have any direct experience with it?

Why don't you just delete the games you already have beaten? You can always re-download them from your PS3 download list.

I don't understand. If you only have those 2 games under your "Game Data," you should have like 140 GB left out 160 GB. What are you making room for?
yeah I know, thats what I meant. I think all I've got left is MGS4 and Heavy Rain, both of which I want to replay soon
Is the store down? I keep getting the 80023106 error and I really want to get my hands on the DLC for Borderlans dang it!

NVM I'm in :D
so this is a little off topic, but I'm hoping I can get some suggestions. Retro City Rampage is pretty short/not that enjoyable so you might get bored with it and decide to delete it without finishing. Vanquish is supposed to be pretty short (6-7 hours) and is 11 gigs.
Both videos are now done, so enjoy. Feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
thanks Frisky, they should be paying you. Off to spend my psn spacebucks on another shmup!

That LBP pack is tempting but I haven't even started the LBP2 Cross control DLC yet either... sigh. As much as I want to not get any new games from MM, I keep falling for the DLC, ugh.

haha, same here. i got the move dlc and the cross control dlc and havnt touched either. backlog fail. i also bought that doggie pack dlc for k&l2, what is wrong with me...

lol, i also got the portal 2 move dlc, which i think has no trophies... and i never even touched portal 2... i need to put a lock on my psn spending til i figure out what im doing with my life. lol

that is til i get that 30psn$ back for 150 spent, and the free $10 psn card bestbuy basically gave away for easter... and that $20 vita serial code thinger if that really exists...

lbp2 for vita is one of five games i bought for vita before i realized just having ps+ freebies and discounts were gonna over burden my 32gig and 16gig cards and backlog... i keep forgetting that work and family time take up 90% of my time, so i have less time to play, but i keep buying more cuz deals are so great, lol. and then most of my free time im playing cod. omg i was a beast earlier. 22 n 4 and an amazing c4 and knife final triple kill. sorry im zoned out. thanx frisky for everything in this thread!

Just curious, since I know others have offered options, but is there a reason you wouldn't be able to download later? I typically just "purchase" the free games, and then download them from my history when I plan on playing them. I think this is how most people do it. That way you're not cluttering up your HDD when you don't need to.

I believe you can just "purchase" the games without downloading them fully and then download them in the future when you're ready to play them (as long as you're still a PS+ member), even if they're no longer PS+ titles.

yep that's def how you do it. just purchase and as long as in download history you can always go back and re dl through download list or actual page itself.

only issue i have come across is if it's a ps+ cross play game, sometimes there is a problem if you download on vita first and then ps3, but that is just remedied by going through dl list and not actual page. i just know cuz i dl'd foosball 2012 on vita first, and kept saying error on ps3, but you just gotta find it on the actual dl list. peace

Delete Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition or Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. Either of those games should be enough to free up space for Demon Souls - 18 and 14 GB respectively if I remember correctly. I think Little Big Planet 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine also weigh in at over 6GB; the latter is a shooter and could be finished fairly quickly if you're not going to play multiplayer.
Anybody pick up the LBP Vita Marvel Arcade Pack? Thoughts?
I have no idea what it is (poor description on PSN), but I plan to get it since I was so impressed with LBP Vita. It's a shame such a great game seems to be overlooked. I'm generally not too interested in side scrolling platformers, but that one hooked me in.

What I meant was those are all I have as game data installs/patches. The rest is downloaded games.

Yeah, I know. I just like to have them downloaded already because A. my interenet is really slow, and it could take a whole day (leaving the PS3 on overnight as well) to download a game that size, and B. so I actually remember I have the game, and hopefully get around to playing it.

Thanks, and thanks for all the other suggestions, but as it turns out I had more stuff to delete than I realized. Freed up about 10gb from some game installs I forgot I'd saved (I don't know why I keep thinking I'm going to play Mass Effect 2 again so soon), 3GB from game trailers (they were sorta serving as a PS3 wish list, and I enjoy watching them:rofl:), and also remembered I had Dust 514 installed, which I will probably delete as I never play it. Even if I don't though, I've now got 21GB pre Demon's Souls, so all is well and good:applause:
Also stay away from any game from the 80s or 90s while you're at it, because a lot of those have grammar and localization issues. Who cares if their good games when they got they're grammar mixed up.
It can matter in a dialogue-heavy genre. Not so much in simpler genres, or in games with voice-overs. I really wanted to like Rainbow Moon, but after about 5 hours I just couldn't stomach the abysmal writing . . . and I've been miffed that not a single review I've seen so far has mentioned this flaw in particular.

It's very possible 99% of gamers' standards are truly that much lower than mine . . . but it's still disappointing.
