Okami is a completly different game. Like a zelda clone of sorts. Kinda hard to compare apples and oranges. Okami also is touchy feely and funny, demons souls is neither of those things...very much a matter of opinion.
Okami is also 50 hours long but feels like 100 lonnnng hours because it's so repetitive and easy and the nonsense voices drive normal people insane.
yep, many do just that, or set up JP accounts to get imports I can't even pronounce;)
Awesome! I am extremely tempted.. even though I already own the games I want (Absolution, Catherine) on 360. It's just nice to build a PS3 library without having to re-buy everything. That said, really wish I could use the membership on Vita without having to format it :( Would love to get Virtue's Last Reward and Thomas Was Alone.

I'm not sure where that number comes from. I was pretty intimidated by it, but I beat Okami in just about 32 hours.

There is too much dialogue in the game, though.

I think that it's ok to express the opinion that you'd rather have the EU offerings than the US PS+ games. I tried Demon Souls when it first dropped and I sort of hated it. So basically any game other than that would have been preferable to me. Generally speaking, the games that are being released there are preferable to the ones we're getting here, but again, that's just my opinion.

I bought Batman AC when it came out which is why I rather not have it as part of the IC, but you win some you lose some. After that I learned to never spend more than $20 on a game unless I really want them and can't live without it. I mean with how much my backlog has grown I don't need to jump on new releases at all. Add PS+ to the equation and I don't really need to buy anything lol
Unrelated, I just started up Labyrinth Legends. I'm surprised there was so much praise for it here, I thought it was pretty dumb actually.
Give it more than just the first level or two. Dungeon/puzzle design is quite excellent in my opinion. Combat is ridiculously simplistic, but it's not really a combat game even though it looks like it's going to be. It's an easy 100% trophies, too. I had fun.
It's two weeks until the game releases though so still not sure why people are upset about waiting a little.
People freak out if you don't email them back within 24 hours nowadays (and text them back within an hour). Everybody is losing it.

I played the first 4 levels, then stopped on the 5th because this weird mage guy was following me around and wouldn't get the fuck out of the way of enemies. Am I doing something wrong?

As much as i loved Okami, I have to agree. I never actually beat it, it felt absolutely endless at times. And too easy. It's an odd combination - i loved it, but i also know i gave up on it. I'm curious about the HD version, though. It deserves another chance... i just wish it wasn't so loooong. And I've plat'd many 100 hours games, so that's not normally too much of an issue.

Like I said, I beat it in 32 hours and I did a significant amount of wandering and side quests.

I'd agree that it is a little bit too easy, but isn't that true of a lot of games anymore? Just reminded me of Zelda. Rarely die, but even when you do there's no real penalty for it.

Those dern border crossers coming in and downloading all of our PS+ games!
This thread is too funny - half the people complain when the store doesn't get updated "on time", the other half bitch about it getting updated "early" and missing out on a deal they had a whole week to get in on.
If you think this shit is great, just wait till November. Get your popcorn, jujubees, and 64 oz sodas ready for the ragegasms when the reality of not being able to play all these digital games they had to wait 1 extra day for on their shiny new PS4's. This is going to be epic.

It's hard to really care about EU's ps+ that much... I already platted Catherine and VLR, I hated Malicious, and I know Sine Mora is too hard to bother with. Meanwhile, I already platted Demon's Souls for US ps+. Ultimately, what's the difference?

Well, the EU Catherine trophy list stacks with the US one so I wouldn't mind that, but even then I'd rather buy a disc copy. (edit: actually, VLR's list stacks too, but mehh, I would hate to play that again)

On a side note, Newegg has Borderlands 2 for 19.99, which is a nice price compared to the digital bundle if you want a disc and already have Borderlands 1, but still, too expensive.
Why wouldn't you be able to play digital offerings on a Ps4?
He means the PS3 digital offerings as the PS4 won't be backward compatible.

Surprised to see a lack of love for Okami. That game was just magical to me. Everything about it (including length) was just perfect. To each his own I suppose.

Also, don't be jealous of Europe for getting Catherine. That game is so massively over rated. The only thing entertaining about that game was the cube pulling, and that could have been done as some sort of PSN release. Every character in it is annoying and unlikable and the story is a joke. It's like a 15 year old's interpretation of the types of issues that happen in romantic relationships.

downtime happens everywhere to everything. if you don't have something better to be doing or another game to be playing while you wait then you are doing it wrong.
I don't really care about the delay but it does make me very curious and skeptical about this instant availability talked about when announcing the playstation 4. It seems like their sophistication with the network has always been lacking with long down times and maintenance windows that I'm not sure they could pull that off.
I'd say that most the people that designed the original infrastructure are gone and new folks with an eye on their problems have implemented a shiny new setup for ps4. it's always easier to make something new that works right than to maintain and build on a setup that was at best decent 8 years ago. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

So nice to see so many white knights out this moorrrrning. This thread doesn't have enough of you. :applause: Yes, I will deal with SCEA's incompetence like a champ.

Not trying to be snarky, because truthfully as a writer I legitimately consider it a favor if someone points out a misused word/phrase (my girlfriend does this frequently):
Haha, you're good, man. You weren't being pedantic, so I appreciate it. Proper idiomatic usage a day keeps the idiots...away? Sadly, this changes everything now (since I've been saying that my entire life).
Okami is also 50 hours long but feels like 100 lonnnng hours because it's so repetitive and easy and the nonsense voices drive normal people insane.
OMG, yes! I made a snipe about the grating Okami "voices" here the other day (see: mimimimimimimiimiimimimimi). That shit is fucking ridiculous and detracts from an otherwise flawless game. I'm not sure what the idea was behind that design decision.

Well... if you're talking about a digital distribution service then I would agree with you, but it's pretty annoying to unwrap a new retail disc and then not be able to play for 1/2 hour because of updates and installs. I have a wife and a kid. 1/2 hour might be all the game time I get in a day. It sucks to have to plan my game time so thoroughly that I have to remember to start the installation process earlier in the day so I can enjoy something in the evening.

Whatever... first world problems are hard.

I have a newborn, cry me a river. I'm sure there are other games you can spend that 30 minutes playing.
I've been keeping an eye out for the 360 version for about the same price range, but so far the game has kept value at 16+ on both consoles. Rather annoying.

I loved the game enough that I'd gladly 1000 it again on 360 (I'd do it again on ps3 if the trophies stacked too).
Well, it will drop. They all do.

I exaggerated, though you could hit 50 hours on a first playthrough going for 100% completion.

I've played through the first set of levels, and part of the second, and IMO things don't get any better. Don't get me wrong, it can be fun at times, but it has so many small problems that make it really annoying. I don't expect to 100% it, simply because going back through levels is annoying when they don't even tell you how to get the stars:bomb:

From the playstation twitter feed just moments ago:

UPDATE: The PSN team is working hard on the PS Store publish, happening later today. We’ll update here when live. Thanks for your patience.

You know, even with the complaints and arguing here and there in this thread. This is NOTHING compared to the cesspool of humanity of a GameFAQs forum. I don't even know why I go there sometimes. Maybe I have a secret desire to lose my hope for humanity a few times a week. But then I come back to this good ol thread and it's like a double rainbow in comparison haha.

Don't know why but I thought I'd share that little nugget of thought that just passed through my cranium with you all.

i wish we could transplant every gamer under the age of, say, 25, back to the 80's for a couple days and let them suffer through, say, the C64 with a cassette tape drive.

Us gamers have it so incredibly good nowadays. I mean, hell, if getting a demo for an incredibly amazing portable device 24 hours late is the worst of our problems... i mean, hell, stop to think about that - we can download demos. That in itself is amazing. We used to either not get them, or, later, have to buy magazines that had them on a cd.

You must be new here? Sony, Demon's Souls & R. Kelly. These subjects are off limits. You best learn this now. Keep your head low, and you'll be alright.

The mage is just part of the puzzle. He follows you and reacts to enemies. His AI is almost non-existant because he's meant to be used as a tool. If he sees an enemy or device, he'll attack it, but he's not meant to be used as a weapon so much as a device activator.

The entire point of the game is finding the stars on the levels. If they told you where they were or how to get them, it would destroy many of the puzzles. You should find 3 or so of them per level just beating it.

I'd say, generally, 2 are gotten from just beating it. 1 is hidden. 1 is behind a particularly devious puzzle. 1 is gotten from a slightly hidden 'arena' area. not every level is like that, but as a general rule it's about right.

If an area looks 'odd', it's probably a puzzle, and solving the puzzle will give you a star.

look at the walls. secret areas are clearly marked -- you'll see bumps around the secret doors, for example. there are a couple secret levers and such, but they're always lit up like christmas trees if you pay attention.

All time challenges are really easy, too, since you don't need to find stars to beat the level... just run through it. Easy 100%.

I've replayed levels three-four times and still can't find some of the stars. The Mage is really annoying, as I basically had to push him around and the teleport swap thing doesn't work half the time. It's cool if you like it, but I find it rather lacking.

For example on the hidden stars, I think its the 2nd or 3rd level there's a part where there are 3 doors. If take the middle door and ignore the enemies on the left and right door there's a switch that blows up both floors. After you blow up both floors the star shows up. This game will be good when I don't have long gaming sessions available. After discovering this I know some of the stars are going to be a pain to find but I like the simplicity of this game.

the mage is only used like that on one level, i think. two at the most? but i think 1. not really a game breaker. and he's super simple to use ... just kill everything with your dude, go back, and escort him to what you want him to do. i agree the controls aren't perfect, but again, very tiny part of the game.

i didn't have any issues finding all but 3 or so stars, and i found those quickly. you never need to recollect stars you already have completed the level with.

most of the 'hard to find' stars are behind the game's best puzzles, so it's kind of a shame.

I saw someone post about this a week ago, but I was unable to find it again to see if anyone found a solution so here goes:

I have PS Plus and I downloaded the Borderlands 1-hour trial. Played it, and decided to buy it while it was on sale bundled with Borderlands 2. Anyways, I deleted the trial and re-downloaded Borderlands 1 and it won't let me play it. It says that my trial is expired. PSN doesn't seem to recognize that I actually purchased the full version of the game (Borderlands 2 works just fine).

Has anybody found a fix for this? I've tried deleting everything and re-installing but nothing has worked. Thank you in advance.

Not sure about this but here's one thing to try. Check the Gama Data folder. Any random BL1 system files should be deleted in addition to the original demo install.
If I'm going to drop close to $600, I need a little more certainty than 'benefit of the doubt.' For PS4, I'm going to let other people/gaming websites dive in and test the service for the first three to five months, and see where it's at. Only then will I make my purchasing decision.

Wow I figured the Ps4 would at least be able to play anything within the sen architecture, especially anything multiplatform, that's a bummer. when did they say that? It'll suck to have an empty store on release.

I mean if anything they could do like the Wii u does and have a ps3 store option and just stream the games from servers I guess

I believe that is more or less the extended plan...

This happend to me in late 2011 when they bunlded BL with all DLC for $19.99. I had DL'd the trial when it first arrived but never played it, then after buying the bundle (which included the original game) I tried to play and got the trial expired message. I deleted everything related to BL from all of my folders. That didn't work. After trying anything else I could think of, I called psn helpline, wanted to have the game and all DLC which is what I paid for. They couldn't figure out how to make it work. So eventually I had to take a refund of my purchase which took away the DLC as well. I didn't want to pay full price so I didn't rebuy (sale was over by then) BL right away. Then when BL by itself was onsale on psn late last year I bought it and it worked just fine. I think the problem is when you have the trial version of BL it only recognizes the purchase of the base game as overriding the expiration date, ie my full game+DLC bundle and your BL+BL2 bundle don't trigger the system to erase the expiration date.
So nice to see so many white knights out this moorrrrning. This thread doesn't have enough of you. :applause: Yes, I will deal with SCEA's incompetence like a champ.
I didn't think the white knighting was all that bad in this thread today.
OMG, yes! I made a snipe about the grating Okami "voices" here the other day (see: mimimimimimimiimiimimimimi). That shit is fucking ridiculous and detracts from an otherwise flawless game. I'm not sure what the idea was behind that design decision.
Oh ok I was wondering what you meant by that comment. Honestly, those noises didn't bother me much at all. Yes, Issun's was a little high pitched, which sucked because he talks more than any other character in the game. However, it reminded me of the Banjo-Kazooie games (which I also love) so I kind of liked it. I just wish there had been less dialogue in general in the game.
You literally have to say goodbye to Issun 3 or 4 seperate times at the end of the game when you board the Ark, there is no need for that much exposition.
If they had cut down on the dialogue, it would have cut down on the amount of grating sounds and maybe it wouldn't have bothered you so much. Probably not, but just a thought.
The mage is just part of the puzzle. He follows you and reacts to enemies. His AI is almost non-existant because he's meant to be used as a tool. If he sees an enemy or device, he'll attack it, but he's not meant to be used as a weapon so much as a device activator.

the mage is only used like that on one level, i think. two at the most? but i think 1. not really a game breaker. and he's super simple to use ... just kill everything with your dude, go back, and escort him to what you want him to do. i agree the controls aren't perfect, but again, very tiny part of the game.
I'll probably give the game a 2nd chance tonight, it's encouraging to hear that the mage is only in a couple levels. I realized he is a tool for activating things, but for me he just followed me around while I fought and I couldn't get him to not do that. Also, a lot of the areas in that level had respawning enemies so it wasn't just possible to "kill them all". Still, I'll give it another shot and take that level slower.

Thanks for the response. I figured they would just refund me the $0.99 I paid for Borderlands 1, but I'd rather be able to play the game obviously. It'd be nice if I can sweet-talk them into sending me Borderlands on-disc, but I doubt that'll happen. So basically the moral of the story is that if u play the demo, you're unable to play the full game. That's ridiculous.
Well... if you're talking about a digital distribution service then I would agree with you, but it's pretty annoying to unwrap a new retail disc and then not be able to play for 1/2 hour because of updates and installs. I have a wife and a kid. 1/2 hour might be all the game time I get in a day. It sucks to have to plan my game time so thoroughly that I have to remember to start the installation process earlier in the day so I can enjoy something in the evening.

Whatever... first world problems are hard.
Totally agree. You don't know how many times I've tried to try out a new game for a few minutes while the wife is doing dishes or something only to be greeted with a massive day 1 update followed by a mandatory 5 gig install.

Besides the inconvenience of it, I am on my way to filling up a 500GB hard drive, most of which is install data. Sure I could delete some of them, but I like the idea of being able to pop in any game I want without having to shuffle around my hard drive data first. Its getting to the point where I am much less interested in picking up a game if it has a mandatory install.

Semi-related, I picked up a copy of Injustice yesterday and was pissed to see a mandatory 4.6 GB install on the back of the box. It never prompted me to do said install and I felt like a kid on Christmas morning.

I got and played the trial for BL 1 a couple months ago and then bought the combo pack with 1 & 2 last week. I had no issues continuing my saved game from the trial and getting the trophies I had earned retroactively. I didn't delete or uninstall the trial or redownload anything. I simply started the game again after I completed the purchase in the store. Maybe the delete/redownload screwed it up?

the word right now is just that they won't play the games directly.

Maybe you can stream everything day 1, maybe not. Though I'm not too psyched at the possibilities of playing a fighting game online when both people are streaming the damn thing from a server. imagine the input lag...
The best thing that could come out of a late update is someone posting a "oh no I missed the sale on xxxx game". Then we can all BBQ him with our words!
I will savor this moment if it happens.

there are a couple times enemies respawn, but it's never endlessly. if you're in an area where they keep respawning, look around -- it's usually because there are graves or something else obvious that need to be either moved/destroyed in order to keep them from respawning (or in one case i can think of, trapping them). once you destroy or otherwise deactivate the spawning machines nothing respawns, you'll get a star.

there are also 2 levels (i think) in which you actually play as the mage, which removes the problem of having to have someone follow you around. he's got some cool attacks, but lower health. since you're not handicapped by the escort, they're not problematic levels. those levels are generally easier combat wise since you don't have as much health/armor and focus on puzzles.
Poker Night 2 trailer showcasing the unlockables you can earn, including PS3 themes and Borderlands 2 items. Coming out next week on the 23rd.

I was extremely excited about the cast of characters initially, but what that trailer defy skirts around is that it is a FAUX-Ash, Bruce Campbell (for whatever reason) is not doing the voice work for Ash. This drops my interest in the game to practically zero.

You only have the mage as a partner in that one level and it's the most annoying level in the entire game. If you can beat that, then you'll be fine.

I resorted to a guide to find about 3-4 stars in the game because I didn't feel like replaying the levels over and over, especially levels with bosses.

The game overall is pretty fun, but it's not great and I won't ever be playing it again.
