Any thoughts on what will be free for PS+ in June?

My wishlist for disc based game:
Ico and SOTC HD Collection
Killzone 3 or Resistance 3

Vita game:
Sly Cooper Thieves in Time

PSN Titles:
Not going to bother, its such a crapshoot what they give out for free (and so many have been given away for free or had super cheap sale I dont see the need to EVERY buy a PSN game at launch)
Vita isn't changing.
I've got no idea how someone can think Dragon Quest VIII is too childish and then give Ni No Kuni a pass. I wanted to love that game so much, but it plays like a JRPGs for Dummies and never once stops holding your hand.
I would get the PSP Sega Collection if it had Shining Force 1 & 2. Sadly, it does not. :(
what is up with shining force.. there was a shining force coming for the NINTENDO DS system online and never came out

rivera or wait and see if it goes on sale tuesday (like there is any chance it will go on sale)

i doubt any psp or vita games will go on sale just like this week or more fighting crap

Twisted Metal PS3 is my guess - with its struggling sales, it is a perfect candidate to go free

June is generally the middle of summer for me (May through August).

If we're making predictions about IGC titles I'm gonna go with Uncharted 3 as my front-runner. God of War HD Collection seems a sure bet based on the thing last week. For the third game... Maybe Assassin's Creed III? Sony and Ubisoft seem pretty tight right now, and it fits the profile of their current IGC games.

It would completely awesome if Sega remade Shining Force III. Heck, I'd be ecstatic if Sega would release a new Shining Force game that goes back to its SRPG roots.
The yearly 3.
What is the "yearly 3"? I've only had PS+ for less than 6 months...

I've played most of the Sony published games, so I won't be too excited about anything other than Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, which I think has a good chance of being added to the collection. I'd say LittleBigPlanet Karting has a huge chance to go in right along with PSASBR. The other one, I'm not so sure.

Infamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, and Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One have been in the PS+ lineup for a year now. They will finally be rotated out with another 3 that will remain in the lineup for a year as well.

I think Uncharted 3 is a good candidate. It's on the store already in digital form and would make sense if they want a big name franchise to market plus with for a full year.

LBP Karting is a good guess and would fill the family game niche.

God of War Ascension would be incredible, but it is probably too new. Although I think it may have disappointed sales wise and maybe Sony would think they could get some benefit from selling multiplayer DLC to the plussers.

As far as PS2 HD remasters go, God of War 1/2, ICO/SoTC, and Killzone 1 would be nice titles, but I'm not sure how much of a marketing draw they would have. The three titles that are being replaced were all the latest main game installments of those franchises.

I think All-Stars makes the most sense. It bombed, is fairly old, has tons of DLC and would def sell some people.
I think All-Stars makes the most sense. It bombed, is fairly old, has tons of DLC and would def sell some people.
I agree, I think it would be perfect from a Playstation showcase standpoint. All those franchises, with the DLC to sell, and multiplayer for the family appeal (everyone still thinks this is Sony Smash Bros, even if that's not entirely true), it seems an all around solid pick. I've also really wanted to play it, but haven't bought it as I'd probably just play it myself mostly, and that doesn't seem to be worth the price.

GoW 1&2 seem like a lock, though I also agree with the person that said they probably aren't the greatest from a marketing standpoint. Still, it's a pretty big and well know franchise, so having a "includes GoW" sticker on the box might be enough.

The last title will probably be LBP Karting or Uncharted 3, neither of which I think would be the greatest choices. Yes they are big name franchises, but Karting didn't exactly set the world on fire, and Uncharted is just too darn big! Half the PS3s out there probably couldn't even download it. Sony will probably put them up anyway, but I'd rather have Sly or even Resistance 3 instead. I hope sony clarifies a bit at E3 about how long they plan to support the PS3 PS+ program. They will surely be trying to focus on getting it on PS4, but I'd like to know, as I'm sure others would, how long I'm safe resubscribing for.
For me, that's like saying you read Playboy for the articles.
That's...silly. Sometimes battles are fun in RPGs. Dungeon crawlers barely have story, but can be fun to play. Just like people can enjoy the story in a FPS, people can enjoy battles and other things besides story in an RPG.

Anyway... on the IGC changing, my thoughts are LBP Karting will replace LBP2, GoW collection will replace Infamous 2 (since there was that random screw up where they were free for an hour or so, otherwise I'd guess something else), and PS All-Stars and its terrible name will replace Ratchet and Clank All 4 One.

Not even gonna bother arguing about FF XIII. Atrocious.

I love Persona and SMT.
:applause:

Ha, this is why I love CAG. Amidst all the hype, people mostly keep it real here. Guess that comes along with being more prudent about how we spend our money. Anyway, I'm a huge studio ghibli fan, and was soured by Ni No Kuni. It's undoubtedly a charming game - the art direction, cutscenes, and score are something to behold. But, that's about it. As such, you're better off watching My Neighbor Totoro to get your fix.

The AI is TRASH and will burn through MP if you let them cast spells. On the flip side, if you don't allow them to use magic they'll almost always die. Also, your partners always call out familiars that are wildly inappropriate for the situation (they completely ignore enemies weaknesses) or, even worse, they start attacking the enemies on their own (without using a familiar). Speaking of which, the "familiar capturing" completely lacks depth and strategy. Most of the familiars are useless, have the same abilities, and leveling takes ages (I used the same ones throughout the entire game).

Let's not even talk about how bad the combat system is. An atrocious blend of real time and turn based combat that doesn't work in either way that forces the player to continually move his/her character to avoid being hit, while changing actions with the shoulder buttons and manually moving the camera to see what's going on. Boss fights are ALL the same (defend->attack, nothing more). Most of the spells can only be used contextually when the game allows it. And one of the game's toted features -- the remove/donate emotions nonsense -- is incredibly tedious and unexciting.

Finally, to @specialist's point. Not only is the game childish ("NEATO!" & "JEEPERS CREEPERS!"), but it's incredibly cliche. I won't get into why for risk of spoiling it, but you've seen it all before. Had this been a Final Fantasy, it would have been panned. More importantly, had it been unaffiliated with studio ghibli it would have gone largely unnoticed.

Sorry for the rant. I'm only now realizing I should have put this in the blog section.
Someone in the thread said you do get to keep the battlecar after finishing the DLC after someone else said you didnt. Haven't played SD yet, but they saidi it would be last on the list of owned cars.
That was me and I deleted my post. I should have checked the garage first, but with how unlock notifications pop up through out the game, it was weird that nothing popped for the car. My fault.

I can say that while some of the story related dlc unlocks items for the main story, they do also contain spoilers. North point definitely has spoilers, but I can't remember if it added anything after you beat it. The other ( Year of the dragon?), I haven't played yet but they said it does unlock stuff. Both take place after the main story.

I have to agree with breakfuss about NNK as well. I'm a big RPG fan (mostly Western but I do enjoy a lot of JRPGs as well) and I simply couldn't play it for more than a few hours. Just incredibly repetitive and a bizarre combat system. I really wanted to love it and understand why everyone else did as well but I just couldn't.

On to something else, so it looks like Ratchet & Clank: FFA is finally coming to Vita next week. Great, but I'm a bit confused by a few things, though, after looking at conflicting information from multiple sources.

Is Deadlocked being released on the same day? If so, is it cross-buy and on Vita at all? I've seen one source mention that and others not at all.

Myself and Frisky mentioned this on a previous page. I'm pretty sure that Deadlocked won't be out on Tuesday, even though they originally mentioned that Deadlocked would be released the same day as FFA Vita.

Deadlocked HD is only on PS3, not Vita.

To add my opinion on NNK without writing a novel (too tired), it was an amazing game that captured my heart and imagination almost instantly. Best JRPG this generation for me, faults and all.

Oops, thanks, Tyler. This thread has gotten so popular over the past few months that I have a hard time keeping up. I had never heard that Deadlocked would be out on Vita (they must have learned their lesson once now) but I sometimes look at Shacknews on my Gamefly app and they mentioned it would be cross-buy, which really pleasantly surprised me. Bummer.

It will still be great to have an excuse to start FFA now that it's finally on Vita. It's weird that they aren't being clear at all about next week and are changing things around. What a weird path these R&C games have taken.

As a parent I was charmed and a bit emotional about the story of NNK but the gameplay just got in the way of me finding out how it was going to be resolved. I'm glad I rented it.

Ni No Kuni was an amalgam of a series of mediocore RPG mechanics wrapped up in a incredibly pretty package.

I don't regret playing it but it certainly isn't a game I would put in my best games list, even with the limited RPG catalog on the PS3.

The demo is actually a good representation of the game though, if you feel like you really like what you play on the demo, knock yourself out. The game is just more of that.
So my copy of Full Frontal Assault comes in Tuesday. Will I miss out on Deadlocked if I wait a specific amount of time?
According to the PS blog, the promo is indefinite, so you should be fine redeeming it whenever.
According to the PS blog, the promo is indefinite, so you should be fine redeeming it whenever.
When free Deadlocked was originally announced, it seems like the wording indicated you must have "played" FFA before the release of Deadlocked to get Deadlocked free. I remember some discussion on here about how that would be calculated or even if that was a correct interpretation. I'm too lazy to try and find it, though.
For me, that's like saying you read Playboy for the articles.
The articles are by far the best part of Playboy, or at least they used to be. I don't know if they've kept up the tradition of commissioning pieces by great writers.

Just got a Vita and apparently I missed the Spring Fever sale. Bummer. I really would have like to pick up Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and MGS: HD Collection for cheap.

I don't get the Star Wars Pinball thing.

If you bought the Star Wars Pinball tables package via Zen Pinball 2, then you can download the new standalone game (that plays only Star Wars tables outside of ZP2) at no cost. The separate Star Wars Pinball app has a Star Wars only theme and light/dark side score tracking. It also has its own set of trophies separate from the ones for the tables in ZP2. It's a pretty nice package.

the battle system is when i'm actually playing. the plot is just story. so. maybe you have it reversed?
I've got no idea how someone can think Dragon Quest VIII is too childish and then give Ni No Kuni a pass. I wanted to love that game so much, but it plays like a JRPGs for Dummies and never once stops holding your hand. The art style and presentation are astounding, but once the awe of the visuals fade you're left with a barebones game.

Not even gonna bother arguing about FF XIII. Atrocious.

I love Persona and SMT.
Dragon Quest VIII portrayed everyone as simpletons. it was cute at times, but didn't remotely engage me. Cor Blimey!

Ni No Kuni - i wasn't talking about gameplay, i was giving an example of one of the few stories i didn't mind. it was charming. you're absolutely right that it too often treated players like they were dumb gameplay wise (ie, always giving a tutorial, every single time) and even story wise at times, but something about it worked. Again, a rarity for me.

FFXIII - the paradigm system is an absolutely amazing battle system. i could write an essay, easily, on how damn good it is. the game obviously had other issues, including terrible pacing at opening up it's battle system. it took a known issue with many rpgs (the best move for every character always being obvious, therefore turning combat into rote behavior) and attempted to solve that problem in a unique and compelling way by allowing the AI to do the rote behavior and moving the tactics up a level in the chain. And it was awesome (with a few imperfections).

i play games to game. if i want a story, i'll watch a movie. are there perfect unions? sure, rarely. but most of the times the cutscenes are just in the way. i can watch citizen kane or 2001, but i do not have the attention span for a 5 minute cutscene full of badly written dialog.
