A week later and the closest gamestop that has JC3 is the one downtown. WTF. The game's a 5.9 people, trade it in already!
I got my Dell copy in last night, I promptly sold it on eBay. I'm in DLC cleanup mode, doing ACIV Freedom Cry and will do Mordor stuff next. I figure if JC3 gets patched it will be much cheaper by then so no harm no foul. Still have Batman to play as well.

Okay, that's what I thought. Not a problem for me since I play on a monitor, but I can see how that'd get annoying if you're further away or the chord doesn't reach your coffee table or something.
In regular games I find having to constantly switch Lego characters to be super annoying. That's just hitting a couple buttons on the controller. Having to swap characters on a base is way too tedious for me to bother with. I can get why kids would be into it but it's not for me at all.

Her eyes freak me the fuck out.
Her eyes are amazing, you weirdo.

You just need to add "characterization" in there and you would have earned the rare Triple Therm!

I think that super stardust ultra is a bizarre semi-miss from housemarkee.  The game itself is serviceable, pretty much like the other stardust games.  But for whatever reason the grid they put over the planet + the planet coloring makes seeing virtually anything close to your ship incredibly difficult to see.  with most shooters you don't actually focus your attention on your ship but rather the whole playing field or what you're aiming at, but it's so easy to not see some meteor fragment or some vaguely blue enemy that you actually have to watch your ship closely almost all the time making the game a lot harder than it needs to be.  I finally managed to beat the last planet on normal difficulty after losing three ships in a row to nearly unmoving objects that were just hard to see.  thankfully the last boss of the planet can be beaten by a carrot in a wheelchair.

there's also obnoxious decay rules to the powerups - your odds of getting better powerups (shield, extra life, bomb) are higher the faster you kill enemies/meteors as they drop on to the field.  but then once the powerups drop they decay to lesser powerups (weapon strength, points bonus) if you don't grab them fast enough (2 seconds or so) which just kinda sucks.

the game is fun enough but frustrating.  I really think the vita version is the best one.

edit - that decay might've been in previous iterations, but for some reason in ultra I miss the good powerups constantly because they're in the process of changing to something sucky by the time I even see them.

Have any of you had to take a "visual field" test? It is god awful even though it doesn't seem like it should be. It's a glaucoma-related test. I don't have glaucoma but my dad did and I'm on the borderline. Anyway, you stare into a machine without moving your view from a dot and click a button every time you see a faint light blink somewhere in your field of view. It feels like it goes on forever even though it's only 4 minutes or so per eye. It feels awful.
I took a version of that every time I went in for an eye exam (I have glasses)

I don't mind that, it's the air puff test that annoys the crap out of me. You put your head up to the machine, rest your chin in the chin rest and push your forehead up against the metal bar. Then you have to hold your eye open as a little mechanical doohickey slides forward right in front of your eye and then blows a quick blast of air into it as they take images with the camera mounted on the doohickey. After going enough times to the eye doctor you begin to anticipate it and flinch, which messes up the readings and they have to do it again.

I fail that test every time. I don't even get eye exams more than once every few years, but still flinch or jump enough when that puff of air hits.

Actually, I remember one thing last year where the eye doctor wanted to touch my eye or something when my head was strapped into that machine and I couldn't handle that either.

who likes having their eye touched?

hey has anyone seen that scene in the german horror movie zombie (1979) with the big ass wood splinter to the eye?  I thought about posting a video of it but then I realized that I shouldn't because it's awful.  you can find it yourself if you're so inclined.

I believe the movie also has a zombie vs shark scene, but I can't post that either because it has titties in it and, well, animal cruelty.

I've had that field vision test before and didn't have any problems. That puff of air test doesn't bother me too much. The thing I hate is getting my eyes dilated.

Hey Chewy if you ever get glaucoma I know the perfect medicine to help you out!

Free online multiplayer this weekend on PS4, no Plus required for online play.

Only took to til the 2nd comment for someone moronic to chime in:

It would be nice if people with Playstation Plus already got an extra weekend added to our subscription.
Gotta give us those two extra days since everybody is getting MP free this weekend! That's like 27 cents worth of PS+ that we're paying for when we shouldn't be! God damn Sony stealing my money!

AC: Chronicles India and Russia are slated for early 2016: http://www.destructoid.com/assassin-s-creed-chronicles-india-and-russia-aren-t-dead-slated-for-2016-325241.phtml

India: PS4/XB1/PC on 1/12, Vita on 4/5

Russia: PS4/XB1/PC on 2/9, Vita on 4/5

A physical release of those two plus China ($30 MSRP) will be released on PS4/XB1 later.
Slightly more info here: http://gematsu.com/2015/12/assassins-creed-chronicles-india-russia-launch-early-2016-ps-vita-versions-announced

Interestingly enough, Vita is getting the Trilogy Pack like PS4/XB1, but there's no mention whether it's digital-only.

The article also claims the Trilogy Pack will be released 2/9 while AC: C Russia will release 2/16, but I think they got those backwards.

After searching multiple times over the last two days and not finding a match, I guess nobody plays Sonic 2 online anymore. Pretty surprising for a game that just came out 4 years ago.

Pretty sure I still have it installed if you need help sometime. I need to go back and finish the damn thing. I did the hardest ones already. It is just not as fun as I remember it being as a kid.

So, Tyler?!?!?!?!
It's pretty unremarkable in all areas. A lot of the enemy patterns repeat and there's basically only one weapon. It's pretty blah for a shooter.

There's a campaign metagame that involves credits and 9 different resources that are used to upgrade your ship by purchasing shields and upgrade your firepower, but it's also pretty unneccesary and not a whole lot of fun. Basically just turns into menu management after a while.

Platinum shouldn't be too tough, I'm at mission 15 and I have to get to 40. Then kill 100000 enemies if I"m not there yet, I don't think there's a tracker for that.

It is competent but never terribly fun. Very cautiously recommended only if you absolutely love shooters and have to play them all.

Thanks. The trophy list looked fun, but I guess I can wait for the game to surface in a flash sale months from now.

I'm having more fun with it now than I did when I first tried to play it last summer. The controls just aren't that responsive on this version. I'll let you know if I haven't found a random match before I'm done with the game.

How much is it and why have i never heard of such a game? Sounds like my type of shooter!

I am off today and I really wanted a Grinder for lunch but I was too lazy to drive to a Which Wich since none are close to home. I went to Publix and bought the stuff to make my own with.  It was damn tasty. I am glad I bought extra meat so I can make another for dinner.

I'm tempted to give psnow another shot after pissing all over it in this thread for the past couple days. why?
If you or anyone else wants a code for a 7 day trial of PS Now I got one this weekend.

Harry, do you still play MLB The Show 15? Anyone else play it?

But I'm playing the DLC to IV, I have China and haven't started it yet. I'm skipping Unity (but maybe shouldn't) and may now get Syndicate. At least I'm not crazy like you Vig and imagine that I'll play 1 (played some on PC),2,3 Brotherhood, and Revelations. I've moved on from those.

#yeahtoomuchASSASSIN'S

I better post this quickly...another Assassin's may be announced in the time I write this.

Chronicles is nothing like the main series, though...

I got my pair @ BB on BF but:

...some Walmarts are marking the PS4 Gold Headset down to $38 in store.

Item ID: 34557977

We may all already have them at this point.

Never had a visual field test. I do have to get my eyes dilated and numbed every year though. Sucks 'cause I get stuck with my forehead against some giant machine while my doc shines a ton of lights and touches my eyeballs with some stick thing. Watching the stick thing come at your eyes is the worst.
