I've said it many times, but using guides on a first run of a game is awful.  You might as well just take up cooking or something if you're doing that.  Because really you're just following directions rather than playing a game at that point.

If you are super stuck there is no shame in using a guide (I used online info a lot for games like Spelunky/Terraria/Minecraft) because the games aren't very intuitive and you don't always know what to do next.  But for regular games, ugh.

Gator,

I am going to see the lawyer today so I am taking another pit stop at Total Wine on the way there.

Any suggestions from the top of your head?

I hate missing things when I play RPGs, and I typically view any strategies (for bosses or otherwise) more as guidelines than as a set of instructions to follow.

Who knew Kansas was so fucked up? I thought it was America's heartland! Nothing weird or strange is supposed to happen there!
Kansas is definitely pretty sedate compared to a lot of places. I'm just drawn to people/situations that I guess are a bit different. It doesn't seem weird to me though.

I worked at a dive restaurant with a dude named arthur frentzel. He always acted a bit strange but he was pretty cool. one day after working with him for a few months I went back in to the kitchen and found him holding his hands firmly down on the hot flat top grill. Then he calmly walked over to the manager and said that he needed to go (with his hands a pretty sick mess).

He went to the hospital and I guess got all squared up, but he never came back. I ran in to him a few months later outside a Borders and he was completely covered in paint head to toe (and gloves on). I said something like 'hey Arthur!' and he just looked at me crooked and said his name wasn't Arthur.

I asked a friend that knew him better and he explained to me that arthur frentzel isn't his real name at all. He just uses it sometimes and then forgets about it.

My poor burger place

I love there burgers

Granted the drive for them into the ghetto sucks but still
Two guys ran over. At least one of them is dead. An influential member (note I did not say positive or negative here) of the black community looks like he could possibly be going to jail for a long time, but what matters is the burgers?

i buy guides, and then never(rarely) use them. it's a sort of collection for me. paperbacks usually just for big rpgs, for in game collection purposes. collector's edition guides for any game i like, or am hyped up about. pretty sure after i add the type-0 and witcher 3 guides, my shelf is going to break. i'll use a guide on my first run for missables, if there are any. other than that, i'll only look for one if i'm stuck.

I can't even begin a response to what you said.

The way you took it is just…wow.

I've learned not to bother with most of your posts since you seem to take a lot of what I say to a whole different level.

But think what you want.

If anyone hasn't done that AE contest I posted last night just a friendly reminder to try it. I just won shorts :) (up to a $50 value I can choose)

i would rather have 8 as well, but they already teased the hell out of everyone at this point with the tech demo they made back when ps3 first came out, and then making advent children. showing off how good all the characters, and some of the world, looks when redone. honestly, i wouldn't mind if they stopped making new final fantasy games, and just remade all of them over again.

You have tried a few of the Trappist Breweries, you might as well try most of the rest. I do not think you are ready for Achel or Orval just yet. If you want to feel adventurous though, go for it.

Chimay Blue if you have not had it. Westmalle Triple would be a great choice for you. You could also try the Quad and Tripel from Koningshoeven. Typically labeled as La Trappe here. It is the one original Trappist brewery outside of Belgium in the Netherlands.

There are a few new ones now including even one in the US. I have not even tried any of those.

ETA: Tyler and Chewy, do not buy these. Pancakes they should all work for you.

Derek, let me know if you and Nate have any plans to do the heist stuff on GTA.  If so, I would likely rent it again just so I could play it with you guys.  I know it would probably be a blast even if I do not like the looks of that spend 8 million trophy.

Gator,

You played Lego Hobbit right?  It's only the first two movies right?  I thought I heard something about movie three coming via DLC or something?

Thinking about stocking up on the Lego cheap lego games and Hobbit and Batman 3 are the only ones on sale I don't have now (and I'll wait for Batman 3 to get cheaper).  Not sure if I want to more LOTR universe Legos since I'm stud deep in main LOTR Lego game now.

We're streaming Flame Over for like 2 hours tonight at 8pm Central. No prizes or anything, but a cool chance to see the game before it launches on Vita later this week (and PS4 in a few months). The game is a rogue-lite in which you play as a firefighter. It's quite good.

Did you really have to ask? :)

Yeah, I played it and it was supposed to have DLC for the third movie. At this point, I kind of doubt that happens. I think if they are going to release anything else now it would be a new game of some form and not just DLC. Who knows if it would include all the stuff form the first game or not if I am right.

Any of the games that are sub $15 make sense if you are even remotely interested. They might get cheaper later digital, but it is not a given. They rarely get below that price for physical copies even used.

I pulled the trigger on the Season Pass for Batman for both consoles last night. The price of the game itself will definitely go down. I am not sure we will see a better deal on the season pass though.

So Saint's Row sale next update? Meh, guess my wallet will be safe for another week. Then week after that is Assassin's Creed, thought about pulling the trigger on Brotherhood from the hasting's sale for $5.50 after tax and shipping but decided to wait in case they have a good deal on the complete bundle.

Ok thanks. I was baffled why they would release Lego Hobbit before the third movie came out besides "we're impatient greedy dickweeds". We still have both Lego Harry Potter games to work through, so I might skip Hobbit for now. But you do have me thinking about that Batman 3 season pass for when we eventually get that.

That new Metal Slug release coming in a couple weeks is gonna be native with trophies and all that jazzy shit right?  Or did we never get that confirmed?

Then Sakaguchi would have to relive the nightmare all over again
