I dislike most art like paintings and sculptures because most of what is considered "fine" art looks like something a 3rd grader could do. A cool photograph is almost always nicer to look at than a painting. Especially if the painting is from someone like Picasso or Andy Warhol. They just threw shit up on a canvas and somehow people are convinced they should spend thousands or even millions on it. Same thing with those contemporary sculptures they like to put in art galleries.
If you're going to talk about artists that look like they just threw stuff on the canvas, you can't leave out Jackson Pollock.

I just did this using google checkout. I then used the gyft $5 to buy a $15 amazon gift card. So for $30 I got:

$40 amazon credit

(2) $5 Toys R Us promo credits

So $50 for $30

The Gyft app is pretty cool, it virtually holds all your gift cards and it looks like you can add your physical cards as well. Best Buy, Gamestop, Target, etc. are participating.
How did you get two TRU promo credits?

The Transformers movies are't "high cinema" and aren't meant to be analyzed as such. They're popcorn fluff designed for mass audiences.
Nobody is analyzing them that way. I didn't find that Transformers movie fun at all. It was a chore to sit through. In contrast Pacific Rim was a blast. But hey, that's my subjective opinion, man.

Damn, what is going on?

I could walk in here today and take an objectively huge shit in the middle of the floor and no one would notice among all the other piles.

I bought a 2nd gift card to Amazon using the $5 Gyft card. BUT it appears despite claiming both TRU codes it will only add 1 $5 code to my google wallet. So despite the 2nd e-mail I guess it's a limit of 1. Still $45 for $30 aint bad.

So $30 for

$40 Amazon

$5 TRU

I did it but did not get the gyft $5 credit unless you mean the $25 amazon gc was $20 with the tru $5 gc. So, I got $25 amazon and $5 tru for $20 total, is that right?

Transformers isnt as god as caddy shack but I liked it
And who the fuck compares giant fighting robots to golf?!? Transformers are huge and golf is tiny. Not to mention that in golf you're trying to do as little as possible while hitting a tiny ball with a stick, NOT RUNNING FOR YOUR LIFE FROM HUGE fuckING ROBOTS THAT ARE BLOWING SHIT UP WITH THEIR HUGE fuckING MISSILES.

But I guess it's okay to compare the movies since THEY'RE NOT EVEN IN THE SAME GENRE.

HOLEEEEEEEEEE fuck

Damn Bums, I like that card. I see it is Age of Zombies. I really should buy a Vita just to play that game. I found out it doesnt work on the new PSTV (booo).
I started it last night and it's well worth the $2. There's a couple trophies that will be a pain but it plays great on the Vita.

That's right but if you are a new gyft member you should also get $5 from Gyft. I used it right away to get a $15 Amazon card for $10.

Skylanders people (only Zimm, I think) Amazon has lightning deals on three characters at 12:10 eastern if you haven't seen it already. I'm gonna grab Jade Fire Kraken if it's a good price.
I totally missed all of these and I would have got them all. Jade Fire Kraken, Hex and Shroom boom, oh wells.

So I was talking about the movie A Christmas Story which is such a great holiday movie. I heard somebody say what's that movie I never seen or heard of it. My reaction was WTF are you serious and the were being honest.

I couldn't believe someone grew up and never seen that movie.

My wife can't tell the difference between HD and SD movies, but we only have a 32" TV. When you are sitting on the couch watching a movie, I'll admit that to me there isn't much difference either. Still I always rent movies in HD because HD. The solution to this issue is big ass TV, but so far my wife isn't going for it. :) Well, we don't exactly have the money for it right now anyway….
One of the things I notice between HD and SD even on a smaller TV is the color depth. Most SD content (Even newer stuff) just doesn't seem as rich in color.

I've never heard of that one either, but I love "A Christmas Story".

Maybe because you called it the Christmas Movie instead of A Christmas Story?

Edit: 1 minute too slow. fuck you Topside.

SD looks washed out and HD doesnt. To me anyways.

Course I have a 50 inch plasma and a 52 inch LCD. Bedroom tv is 32 720p as once you get that small and the distance we are away from tv, your eyes cant tell the difference anyways.

I'm afraid to call anything terrible now, but, well maybe it's not terrible, but it's kind of boring. And I like classic arcade games and updatings of them. This one I think is off the mark.
Ok I get what you are saying. I have some retro games on my 2DS (Reminds me I need to return them to the person I borrowed them from). Fun for a few mins here or there but not enough to hold my interest too long (plus I am not that great at them anyway).

If you guys seriously think you can't tell the difference between SD and HD on a 32" TV, try going back to the RCA cables with your PS3 and see if you can still tell me that.

Therm, please critique A Christmas Story (AKA The Christmas Movie) for us. How awful is it?
I thought the ending was rushed. I mean we spend hardly anytime seeing what the family does on Christmas Eve. Or what they did after going to eat at the Chinese restaurant. Don't get me started on the forced character development. Did Ralphie really learn anything after all was said and done? I bet he still played with that red rider BB gun and almost shot his eye out again.

I'm not a big fan of Christmas movies. I've seen it in bits and pieces, but never all the way through in one sitting. Same with It's A Wonderful Life.

I used to like Scrooged, but after seeing it too many times it's just annoying now. If I had to pick a favorite Christmas movie, though, I'd go with Die Hard or The Ref.

My post was poorly worded, but I was talking 720p vs 1080p. HD vs SD is noticeable at any size and distance for me. Before current bedroom tv we had this little 19 inch thing that was also 720p and had a built in dvd player. Even on that, could tell the difference between sd and hd.

Now noticing that something is 720p or 1080p is different depending on screen size and distance.

Damn man, spoiler that shit. People might not have seen it yet. It is barely over 30 years old.

I don't like a Christmas Story

It's boring and I don't know, I just can't enjoy it.

I love all the Christmas movies with the little puppets though

"I'm mister heat miser, I'm mr sun.." :)

I just saw the ps4 with the 20th anniversary paint job...looks so bleh.

I'm sure lots of people love it, but not for me

I still wish that slime ps4 made it state side. I would have splurged to buy that.
Yeah lots of people getting mega-boners for it but the gray is super ugly. The controller is nothing special either...looks pretty much just like the white one just slightly more gray.

A co-worker just said "Sooooome" while trying to decide how to phrase a bug report. Almost instantly I started singing "...once told me the the world is kinda (foamy? stoney? Roney?). I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed." And now that (objectively) shitty all-star song is stuck in my head for like the 5th time in the last couple weeks. I hate when (subjectively) shit songs haunt you for weeks on end.

Also you're welcome for sticking it in your head.
My sister and I used to have a game to annoy each other when we were younger. If one or the other said "so..." and then paused as they pondered what to say next instead of forming all their thoughts before starting to speak. they would be zinged with a follow-up of "...a needle pulling thread" from the Sound of Music.

It upscales if you use HDMI and that works surprisingly well, but the key factor is how far away you are. It's not that there's no difference, but the diff isn't huge.

A Christmas Story is great!
