Very interesting. Makes Eddie Murphy sound like a huge fucking prima donna. Which he is. I can't think of a guy that's easier to hate.
I thought it made Eddie sound respectful. Cosby probably helped him along a ton coming up. He didn't do it because he didn't want to kick a man when he was down. Even if what he did is ultra mega shitty, Eddie didn't want to hammer a former idol.

I think he should have done something in the show besides just throw to commercial though. That was very disappointing.

I hate when some things are sacred to comedians but not others. But even then, he could have still done something else. I'm sure it was him who refused to do anything. I'm sure every writer would have loved the in their skit or at the very least have him host one of the stand up portions.

One of Norm's tweets had me doing more research. Supposedly he didn't come back to SNL for years because David Spade made a joke about him on Hollywood Minute after a couple of his movies bombed. That's pretty pathetic.

Different comedians have different standards. I don't think Eddie Murphy is the type of comedian to be a dick, just for the sake of being a dick. In his eyes, he probably thought that's what he'd be doing to Cosby, and so he didn't want to do it.

Makes sense to me as to why you would pick Eddie to hate over someone despicable like Chevy.

This is interesting to me. Apparently these are the terms for new cast members on SNL:

- NBC can take a Saturday Night Live cast member off the show any time after his or her second year on the program and put him or her in an NBC sitcom.
- A cast member has the option of saying no to the first two shows proposed by NBC, but must accept the third deal.
- NBC dictates the length of the sitcom contract, which can run as long as six years.
- SNL Films, co-owned by Paramount Pictures, NBC and Lorne Michaels, has a three-movie option that would pay the star a set $75,000 for the first film, $150,000 for the second and $300,000 for the third, rates that used to be negotiable.
- NBC has the option of paying those same amount to force a cast member to say no to a film deal offered to them by another studio.
The starting salary remained $5,000 per episode.
I always wondered why some cast members ended up in shitty sitcoms or movies, and why they never said no. Apparently they can't.

And I don't know anything about Chevy Chase, I've never found him even the least bit funny.  Wouldn't surprise me if he's an Eddie Murphy-sized prick though.

Jay Mohr wrote a really good book about his two years on SNL. He was pretty much miserable his whole time there.

I've never understood why Eddie Murphy gets a free pass. He could probably kill his wife and everyone would still be making excuses for him.
A free pass for what? I don't see anyone giving him a free pass. He didn't want to do a joke, so why should he have to?

I'm pretty sure people have been plenty tough on him in the past. He's made some shitty movies, all of which have been torn to shreds. But I don't see anyone giving him a free pass on anything.

You and Zimm both already defended him.  And then everyone at SNL still treating him like a god on Saturday even though he doesn't give a shit about them.  Norm basically felated him on Twitter just now.

Seriously though, I don't doubt he turned down doing another sketch and didn't want to be to involved, which was disappointing. I also think it was stupid of him to boycott the show for so long over a dum David Spade bit on Update. But he did absolutly save the show in the 80s when Lorne was gone. It was him and Joe Piscapo and nothing. You may not like him or his family friendly movies now, but he was top shit in the 80s and a little of the early nineties.

In dummer news, the Timberwolves are trying to find out how many licks it takes to set off a homicidal basketball rage by trying to trade for the return of Kevin Garnett.

lol the joke he got so offended over was "Look kids! A falling star!"

There's insults in this thread worse than that every day and we all get over it.

What a fucking baby.

Woo, my Order CE has gone to preparing order.  If the MM N3DS is any indication it will only be a week past release before it's ready for me to pick up from the store!

Seriously though, if it's not there and ready for me on Friday when I happen to be going there anyway I am going to be pissed.

IGN's 6.5/10 review of The Order: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/02/19/the-order-1886-review

The basic conflict at the heart of The Order: 1886 is that considerations for a cinematic approach are prioritized above the needs of basic gameplay. Its best aspects are its stunning looks, atmosphere, and style – which are truly fantastic – and entertaining fiction. But the shallow, slow, and generic quick-time event-riddled gameplay make it feel like an experience that would've been better served by a non-interactive movie than a game. With no multiplayer, and no reason to revisit the short and stunted single-player campaign once it’s been completed, there just isn’t a lot to it.
Destructoid's 6/10 review: http://www.destructoid.com/review-the-order-1886-287624.phtml

Outside of the sleek presentation and interesting world building, there's nothing truly special about The Order: 1886. It's a shame in many ways, because I'd love to see a more tactical style of gameplay in line with Valkyria Chronicles, or a more in-depth game in general using the same engine and lore. I sincerely hope this isn't the last we've seen of this universe, but for now, it's only worth visiting once, briefly.
I'm still excited to play it this weekend.

Vita question time!

My Vita grip broke last night.  The little clip that holds the system in place broke off.  It broke because I threw it on the bed when I had to go do something for my daughter.   It was a cheap knockoff from Amazon so I guess it was too cheap to even throw 2 feet onto a soft bed.

This is the one I had. It worked well as a grip but was made cheaply and I knew it would break eventually.  Oh well.  Only $7

Anyway I was looking at getting this to replace it.  Seems like it would be something I like.  Anyone have it or tried it?

Also I dont like the illumishield I got as it smudges a lot and has glare.  Anyone recommend another screen protector that may not smudge and be anti glare?  Anti glare being most important.

I have this one.

Is the Best Buy one worth $20?!

dinked around in re:eek:rc's multiplayer this morning and I'm reminded how totally fine that game is. It's not survival horror at all, the controls are a bit clunky and some of the enemies do take too many bullets depending on the gun. BUT it's pretty fun, it'd probably be really fun coop, it's colorful/fun to look at, and the mp modes just aren't half bad. It's really a serviceable left 4 dead clone and yet another example of why I get sick of people shit talking things they haven't even tried.

If you did play it past the first chapter and hated it, why? My guess is because you thought it'd be a resident evil game and not a game just conveniently borrowing that universe for a 4p coop action game.

It's kind of sad how excited we all are to play The Order despite lukewarm reviews. I think it just goes to show that we are starving for a nice straightforward AAA game to play. I've been moving through the big holiday releases at a slow pace because they're all so big and open worldy (Dragon Age, Far Cry, Assassins Creed, etc.). It will be nice to play something linear and to the point. It's just a shame it couldn't be a really fun game to boot (I realize that is just an assumption after perusing reviews, but they are in line with my expectations after watching gameplay).

Speaking of which, some people are starting to give the psnation guy a bunch of shit because they say he rated the order too high. All the big sites gave it middle of the road reviews, so any reviewers that rate it higher are clearly wrong and probably stupid and balding!

I have a feeling I will like The Order much more than a 6.  But thats because I dont need anything ground breaking.  Just looking at the gameplay videos I have seen I bet the shooting etc is just like or very similar to Uncharted.  Many reviewers want something different or groundbreaking with new games.  I just want to be entertained.  We will see though.  I may hate all the QTEs.

Did anyone here miss out on the Borderlands Handsome Collection Claptrap in a Box Edition who is still interested? I'm cancelling my order today, just thought I'd check if there was anyone who really wanted it here before tossing it back into open waters.

Some of my favorite games got sub par reviews, although I'd be pretty surprised if this could hold a candle to something like binary domain.

Yeah, you read that right.

Just in case anyone cares, my initial impressions of the New 3DS are pretty damn favorable. Maybe I'm a little biased because I was playing on the coveted MM system (I went ahead and splurged on the NES link theme to put as the background and I think it was definitely $2 well spent). I actually played a game for 45 minutes with the 3D on the whole time. That's the first time I've ever played nearly that long. The head tracking thing is a game changer. Didn't get a headache like I had previously. That second stick nub thing is going to take some getting used to, though. The way it is positioned means if I am using it I can't hit any of the face buttons easily.
