Just finished Force Unleashed. Decent game, though very clunky. Force throws seemed to randomly not go the direction they should have (this was especially annoying when you're trying to bring down the Star Destroyer and  you keep having to use Force Throw to destroy the attacking fighters), the camera sometimes caused issues, and it wasn't always clear how to proceed. Levels were also all over the place; they often felt overly large and empty, like the enemies weren't populating correctly. Lots of invisible walls and surfaces you can't land on, which meant as I moved or jumped around I'd suddenly run into an unexpected barrier that would cause me to get shoved to the side or sometimes fall to my death.

The story was decent. I liked the concept there, though it should have been further explored. The narrative and characters didn't feel fleshed out at all, nor did the relationship that supposedly defined the character. I think the biggest flaw with the game was the good ending, though:

You're about to kill the emperor and the blind Jedi says "No, don't do it! That will only turn you to the dark side!" ...what the fuck did he think was supposed to happen? There's no story that can make leaving an evil warlord in place a good thing. Whether Starkiller killed him out of hatred or not, the emperor needed to die. Starkiller had to fail to set up the original trilogy, yes, but the way they approached it was just idiotic. Trying to throw in a "Be the bigger man, bro" bit at the end was a terrible decision.

The game hasn't aged well, but I think it had a lot of potential. The second game could have really tightened the game mechanics and levels and given more focus to the story for a big improvement. Sounds like that didn't happen, though, which is a shame.

Played a bit of nom nom first hand. Interesting to actually play it.

If anyone (Derek, gator) wants to play later on, ill be on around 4 in the most important time zone.

Also played a bit if pixeljink shooter on the vita. Great so far but hopefully those multiplayer trophies aren't too annoying.

Not sure if you remembered from when I was playing or not, but you can play up to 4 players in Nom Nom. Unfortunately, the recipes and worlds you unlock in co-op wont unlock for both, but you do need to play in another persons game at least a certain amount for a couple trophies.

Glad to help you guys out with them whenever.

Damn. Too many games running on EVO streams right now. Not sure what to watch.

EDIT: What the shit? No USF4 today?

I bought Phineas and Ferb because I had played the PS+ trial back in the day and thought I had unlocked a few trophies while playing it but nothing popped when I turned it on and synced.  Still had my game save from then on the cloud so ended up playing it until 2 last night and finished it.  Presumably, I'll have to go back and probably replay some levels or the game to get those trophies.  Lousy Trials.

No idea how anyone would get any of these trophies in the swapper without a guide. Randomally jump into a pitch black area for no reason? Sure, makes sense.

I knew y'all wouldn't let me down.

For the record they were young ladies doing some kind of bachelorette party scavenger hunt. A mustache was on their checklist.

Still...pretty sure they all wanted the D.

Why do I feel like everybody is doing something better than me on Saturday afternoons?

I know that's a bit from Seinfeld, but it's true. I'm sitting here, listening to Iron Maiden on Spotify, and trying to find the motivation to do these Batman challenges.

did u just look up those episodes? How do you remember them 20 years later?
I remember them, I know the names of most of my favorite episodes. Part of that comes from watching them over and over on DVD, where they're all listed by episode name. If I just watched them on TV I probably wouldn't be nearly as informed because you don't see the episode names on TV broadcasts.

I was thinking Ghost of Sparta was pretty easy on hard until I got to Callisto. That cheap grab move she does that literally teleports you into her grasp is absolutely bullshit. You can actually see Kratos jump from one position on the screen to another when the move shouldn't connect but does anyway.  :wall:

Having played God of War 3, I am definitely ready for a new God of War. Hopefully next Holiday, though that's probably wishful thinking looking at Soony's track record lately.

I worked 9-2, and I'm about to head out on a trash run. I'd rather be doing batman challenges today.

Why would it have to be a holiday release? None of the console games in the series have been released outside of Spring.
I think holiday 2016 is best case, earliest release at this point. The first real God of war on PS4 wouldn't be something Sony would announce just through some random blog post, it would likely come during E3. So now we have to wait until next summer to see it, and then depending on how far along it was, holiday 2016 would be the earliest it could come out. At this point though, it's most likely a 2017 game.

Posting saves the day!

That and actually trying to block. Figured her attacks would be unblockable due to the size and not having played a GoW game in a while. Dodging everything just requires a couple misses to get hurt very badly. Blocking made it easy--first try. :whistle2:

Yeah I have done nothing all day except chores and work.  With a little GW3 sprinkled in. I still suck pretty bad though I finally got to the top spot on my friends list on one level.  Finally better than Mild, Kracker and Elpsy on one level.  Way below them on the rest.

Pretty much what Stotch said. I think next Holiday is a stretch, so next Spring would be an absolute pipe dream. But you're right, it could come out whenever. Sony is not a stickler to holiday releases like MS and the 3rd party industry is. UC4, Infamous Second Son, Bloodborne, The Order, I don't think any of them came out in the holiday season.

I'm playing Rocket League with the kids. Love this game.

I thought I was doing pretty decent scorewise but on the first 20 levels or so I only have a few top spots on my friend leaderboards. I'd try to up my score but that would make me a giant loser I guess so instead I'll just farm geoms which is definitely not something a giant loser would do.

I missed four of the Godly Possessions in GoW, but was able to just go back to different saves (I made about 25) and pick them up real quick. Really cool that the game instantly saves them the second you get them and that you don't have to track them all down in one playthrough.

A couple of those games you mentioned came out when they did because they were all delayed though.

Infamous was supposed to be a PS4 launch title.

The Order was supposed to be a late 2014 release.

Uncharted 4 was supposed to be late 2015.

Even Bloodborne was delayed, but that one was February, so it only got pushed back a month.

I think Sony shoots for holiday releases and then ends up missing the mark.

Who knew that there should be more worry about a "Big One" in the Pacific Northwest instead of along the San Andreas fault? This is a really long but interesting and scary article.

http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/07/20/the-really-big-one
I have heard of that before. There are earth quakes across the southern US too every once and a while. Without reading this article I assume one of the worries is that there is little activity so a big one is a worry since there arent small ones to take some of the energy away?

A fan theory is not a possible spoiler. I could make up a fan theory.

Hey guys, my theory is that Batman in the new movie is actually a robot.

Whoops, forgot to say spoilers.

Spoilers are when you have a boss in a game and you tell everyone who may have not played it not only the identity of that boss, but what happens after you fight them.

Nope, I cant really do it justice, but they have determined that that area has a huge earthquake on average every 240 years. It has already been 350. Since that fault line wasnt known when American developed that area does not have building practices like southern California.

Basically the PNW is going to get a tsunami like that one that hit Japan a few years ago, and unlike Japan there's no early warning system and the construction is all shit. Talks about all the schools full of kids that are going to be wiped with literally no chance of survival when 100 ft waves crash debris into them, and even though superintendents want to build schools in non-deathtrap areas they can't get funding approved. Good article, but lots of PNW people say it's fearmongering. Whatever, you won't catch me living there.

I am sure those same people that call it fear-mongering make fun of the people that claim the same for global warming. Scientists are just doing their job but people seem to only believe what they want to believe.

I do roll my eyes at some of the earthquake scare talk. I grew up in Alaska where we actually had earthquakes yearly and there wasn't all this panic over them.

Anyone here have the GoW plat yet? The super fast Titan method isn't working for me, game keeps crashing.

So new street fighter v info from evo:
- no paid updates (i.e. no super/ultra/etc). one core game, all post release content will be 'free'
- there will be in game currency you can earn by playing or purchase from psn to unlock 'free' content (future characters, costumes, etc)
- 16 core characters, 4 brand new

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/07/18/street-fighter-v-a-new-way-to-play/

Edit - I couldn't be happier with capcom trying to make the whole digital/dlc thing better with their reasonable digital pricing and better take on dlc. They might be one of a slim number of companies actually trying.

Why do people that work on PSN get to be on the God of War credits? Like, did Grace Chen on the PS Blog really play an important enough role in God of War 3 that she needs to have her name in the credits.

That would be like one of our English teachers writing a textbook for the school and listing the name of every single college employee in the back as contributors.
