I think we mentioned Republique in here once or twice--Atlus will be distributing the $24.99 PS4 retail version when it releases in early 2016: http://gematsu.com/2015/11/atlus-nis-america-distribute-republique-ps4-retail-north-america-europe
Don't know too much about this game other than the dude who worked on Metal Gear (Ryan Peyton?) worked on this and it sort of looked maybe kind of cool. Price seems right, in that it will either be free on PLUS or super cheap with GCU at some point making a look worthwhile.

Wow this seems way more significant than the reddit sepculation post I did a few days ago. Interested to see where this goes. Still befuddled why those 3 Star Wars games don't have plats. If PS2 emulation is real with trophy support, the longer games should have plats.

And they said it was "As it happens, the PlayStation 4's PS2 emulator is now available, released with no fanfare whatsoever." We'll probably hear more at PSX in a couple weeks.
PSX HYPEEEEEEE

Yeah, I'll Pm you when I get ready to play it and we can knock them out.
FYI, I don't think you can do all of the multiplayer stuff right away--you might have to finish a few story missions before the option to trade soldiers unlocks. The Vic Vos trophy is also a bit of a time-consuming one, so be prepared for it to take a while.

Otherwise, I'll wait for your PM.

So PSX predictions:

PS2 emulation

PSN name changes

What else?

Game announcements?

Slim PS4?

Vita 3.0? - haha yeah right fuck you jkam

Wish I was going...sure it would be fun.

I'm surprised this hasn't generated more excitement here. I'd much prefer PS2 backwards compatibility with trophy support than PS3 compatibility. I definitely think the potential to make this awesome is there, we'll see if Sony can come through.
And if they are doing PS2 why not PS1? I would love to play SOTN again for tropheez.

I feel like a lot needs to happen though. It does indeed have to upscale the games (as well as the PPSSPP emulator) and trophy support would be another big one. If it's just a we'll drop this here and walk away it's not as big of a deal. Sony's track record in that regard isn't great. Like Crunch also mentioned a good amount of the bigger titles have already been ported over.

So what are the best PS2 games that haven't been ported to PS3/PS4/Vita already?
SSX 3, Psychonauts, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Burnout 3: Takedown, and Timesplitters 2 come to mind. Second Sight was another underrated gem.

EDIT:

This is where someone inserts niche Japanese RPG.
Thanks, I forgot Shadow Hearts: Covenant and SH: From the New World. Wild Arms 3 & 5 (skipped 4 because it looked dumb) were also pretty great.

Pharm or anyone else buying a new TV. If you need wall mounts or HDMI cables you should check out www.monoprice.com

They provide great quality products for a fraction of the cost of BM stores. I bought all my cables from for my TV and will always buy from Monoprice. Plus they have great customer service!

I read somewhere that the FF7 remake might be prominently featured. Maybe Sony will also announce the release date for the original's PC port on PS4.

Can second this. It's the only place I order my cables from at this point.

Yeah, it's a little surprising. The ps2 had an insane library but a lot of the big name favorites have been ported to ps3 so for me it's the slightly lesser titles that I'd be interested in. I would gladly have contra shattered soldier and gradius v join the ranks of 1% trophy games on my list. I hope there's some sad intern locked away in a closet at Sony HQ that's been tasked with adding trophy support to ps2 games instead of making the companies handle it since it'd likely rarely be done otherwise (or never at all, konami).

man I really hope this flash sale puts rayman legends vita on sale for $1 or something to up the daily challenge population.  I haven't figured out how to give up on it yet.

I'd like to see play the PS2 SMT titles on my PS4 at native resolution. Digital Devil Saga, Devil Summoner, etc.. They look pretty decent at 1080p. Rogue Galaxy would be great to see, too, even though it's not on PSN for some reason.

Finished first playthrough of Dragon's Crown. Pretty enjoyable but losing track of my character on the screen if I played with other players / NPC allies is a constant problem, particularly with mages. Even with the arrow at the bottom of the screen and the circle at your feet it's still really easy to get lost in the magic attacks. The default color of the markers are dark red for player 1 (which you can't change) which makes it blend in with some backgrounds and nearly all fire attacks.

Zimm, I just got an email from work advertising discounted Magic tickets.  I could go to the game against the Bucks and sit a few rows from the floor on the sideline for $115.  Or I could sit in the nosebleeds for $15.

tell me this doesn't look fun (spoilers I guess if you think the plot of a ps2 hulk game from a hundred years ago matters)

Make sure to take pictures and share your thoughts on the new jerseys.

Lol, I think that's the exact level I stopped playing on. I just remember getting juggle fuck ed all over the place and I got tired of when getting hit it kept knocking me back etc. Even watching that video it reminds me how janky it was. Sure it was a blast at the time though.

What are the chances (low or high) that I'll get my Star Wars Battlefront $10 cert before BF deals hit?
That depends--when did you preorder it? The earlier you did, the sooner you can expect the points.

EDIT: Mild'd.
