Important News For Amazon.com Video Games Customers

The Nintendo Wii will be available for purchase on Amazon.com on 11/19, Sunday morning (PST). We will be limiting purchases to one per household and we anticipate that we will sell through our inventory very quickly as we've received 100 times more Wii email sign-ups than consoles we'll have available for sale (i.e., for every Nintendo Wii we'll have for sale, over 100 people have signed up to be notified).

We expect to receive periodic shipments of the Wii from Nintendo throughout the holidays and we will post availability updates on the product detail page as well as in the customer discussions on the Nintendo Wii product page:

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0009VXBAQ.

Thank you for your continued support of Amazon.com.

One Day Shipping is $13.98. We need a Wii icon.

Edit 2:
The lastest about your Wii pre-orders from 9/15 are as follows:

Hello again,

Time to answer another batch of questions.

Several of you asked for a ballpark estimate as to when pre-orders would be up again, but unfortunately I don't have any information on that right now. As I've mentioned previously, we are still working with Nintendo on the details of our launch allotment, and I can't speculate as to when everything will be in place. Once again, your best bet is to sign up for email notification on the Wii detail page if you don't want to re-check our site every day.

Speaking of the email notification, there was a request for clarification on the timing of that email. We plan to send out an email to everyone on that list prior to the next pre-order window with all the relevant details on that window. This will hopefully give just about everyone an equal and fair chance at knowing when to come online and pre-order.

Regarding the launch day allotment, anyone who pre-orders a Wii prior to the November 19 launch can expect to get theirs as part of that first shipment. Past November 19, we will be opening up sales for further batches as we get them, which we hope will help minimize confusion. We know that customers who were able to get in on the last pre-order currently have a ship date of October listed on their order, which is obviously incorrect, but this will be updated when we have an actual delivery estimate, and those customers will receive an email regarding that change.

I still don't have any information on bundles or controller availability, which one of you asked for. However, I can tell you that in previous console launches, controller availability was not typically an issue.

Thanks again for your continued understanding, patience, and feedback.

Edit: Amazon will be taking pre-orders again once they know their actual alottment from Nintendo. All exisiting pre-orders from 9/15 will stand. It also looks like you'll get your console right at launch (no backorders, in otherwords, but no guarentee on launch day). Read all about it in in this discussion thread from the Amazon.com Video Game editor.

Cheapy, you owe me for the comission on this one (just kidding). ;)

Anybody remember the Ds's being hard to get also... It was about a day or two ina nd they were going up on ebay and sold out almost everywhere...

I think the Wii will have shortages this year dont let it fool anybody.
Plus I was really irritated by my Sunday experience with the DSLite. Sunday mornings are for relaxation.
The Japanese do not believe in relaxing.

Considering Amazon yanked the whole page for the Wii, I would not be surprised if they declared a do-over, cancelled all the orders that did make it in, and made everyone order again.

The page is still there. You just can't order.

My bad. And incidentally, I hope all the orders placed stand up. It would be bad for everyone if they don't. If nothing else, it gets you guys out of the way on Sunday morning. ;)

Woo, glad I got in. Hopefully they actually have a realistic idea of that first shipment and most of us don't get fucked by them expecting to get 200 consoles and they get like 50.

200? It was up for awhile, so they must think they have a bunch allocated. People did place orders of ten or more... maybe they'll force a 'one per customer' order change and place the overflow back into the available stock.

What happens if people cancel their preorders? Do the units get destroyed? I'd check back some in case the put some more up due to cancellations.

I wouldn't be so upset about missing out on this one if it wasn't for the NO TAX. I'm sure I'll be able to grab one from somewhere without paying shipping, but the tax makes my heart hurt.

I remember with the 360 they did it without the bundle at first then canceled all the orders and then made you buy a bundle. They screwed me last year I hope they don't do it again.

I'd imagine they will ultimately establish a bundle system though. So assuming they go through with as planned, any leftovers from cancels will just get bundled.

Missed out on this one myself. Probably even by a few minutes since the first notice was posted about five minutes happen. But oh well, crap happens, and I'll just have to take up another opportunity should one arise.

Yep, I remember that too although it was through the Toys R Us and not amazon directly. I wouldn't be shocked if the cancel the pre-orders.

I'd imagine the only reason this went up and down so fast is that either 1) it wasn't supposed to be up yet or 2) see #1. No way Amazon of all places sells out of a system not due to be released for 2 months within 3 hours on a random Friday morning.

Just keep an eye open, it'll be back.

I wouldnt be so sure. I've see the news posted on at least 3 other boards. News gets around quick, and seeing as they are one of the first to allow pre-orders, they've probably gotten thousands of responses.

On the other hand, you may be right as no one else seems to be allowing preorders.

Well, it's just curious, that's all I'm saying. Amazon doesn't deal in "hundreds" it deals in "thousands" and "tens of thousands". This isn't the local Target.

If Wii sold ten thousand units in 3 hours this morning, then God bless Reggie and the gang, cause they'll have a huge hit on their hands. I'm just doubtful.

ye this is absolute BULLSHIT considering i DID NOT get an e-mail notifying me that the WII was available for preorder...i signed up to get an e-mail and NEVER got it...ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!!!
My wii is up for bid. Ladies love it. YOu will too.

edit: sold
How on earh did you sell it already. People probably will hate on me , but I did order 2 and plan on selling 1 , but of course on launch not now you don't even know how guaranteed it's. and if they will allow 2 to one house.

People are going to try to profit off these too? Oh brother...

Too late? fuck, how heartbreaking.

EDIT: Oh fucking Jesus, I've been reading posts up on FatWallet and that shit and many people there just bought crazy amounts to sell on eBay. GOD DAMN THIS.

I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon cancelled any orders that were more than one per household, if they don't cancel them all. That's a usual restriction on launches, but who knows.

The profit margin on these things is gonna be so small it wouldn't be worth it.

Well, that's a shame because it sure looks like you'd make a helluva paralegal.

What the fuck it with this phony-ass dollar-at-a-time stockmarket bullshit that gaming has become? People are trying to seriously buy in bulk in order to deplete the nations' shelves of 4 millon ass-fucking consoles so they can make a $30 markup, not counting shipping and time spent being an asshole?

Man alive, I'm glad that I actually invest money I have.

That said, MARK THIS THREAD DEAD SO PEOPLE STOP CLICKING THE GODDAMN LINK. IT'S BEEN DEAD FOR 5 HOURS NOW.

thanks a bunch.
sorry not as rich as some and I have no job.
Not rich, no Job, and yet you can put away $500 on something that isn't coming out for 2 months. Doesn't add up, my friend.

Reasonable suggestion, no need to have this up when it just leads to disappointment.

One of the best heads-up from the site -- thanks! So much for getting the notification emails from as to when the item became available. It'll be interesting to see when it ships.

My order no longer appears on Amazon and the link they sent me to check on it no longer brings it up either. No email from Amazon saying they are cancelled. Any one else in the same boat?

Well right when I posted that, just checked and the order is back again. Weird.
Well if it was anything like the 360 launch, you'll be standing in the electronics department at 2 pm too.
i live in a small hick town, i'll probaby be the only who cares about this. let alone the only one with internet haha

I do like to go out and buy food and other things in a while it's like going to the store am I not going to take a coupon thats right in front of my face are say I'm to rich for it.

How much do you all think the Wii will sell at Ebay around launch week? I was thinking they will not give me much profit as compared to selling 2 ps3... My money is on the ps3!!

Of course PS3 will sell for more. Only 400,000 units will be available in the US. On the other hand, over 4 million Wiis are expected to be sold by the end of the year.

Not to mention the huge disparity in retail price...

I think anyone buying Wiis with the expectation to make lots of money selling them is going to be disappointed. But who knows?

I am (will be) harrasing my Gamestop for the next 3 months... I am going daily asking the same damn question: Can I preorder a ps3? and as of today the answer is "No" :booty:
