Important News For Amazon.com Video Games Customers

The Nintendo Wii will be available for purchase on Amazon.com on 11/19, Sunday morning (PST). We will be limiting purchases to one per household and we anticipate that we will sell through our inventory very quickly as we've received 100 times more Wii email sign-ups than consoles we'll have available for sale (i.e., for every Nintendo Wii we'll have for sale, over 100 people have signed up to be notified).

We expect to receive periodic shipments of the Wii from Nintendo throughout the holidays and we will post availability updates on the product detail page as well as in the customer discussions on the Nintendo Wii product page:

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0009VXBAQ.

Thank you for your continued support of Amazon.com.

One Day Shipping is $13.98. We need a Wii icon.

Edit 2:
The lastest about your Wii pre-orders from 9/15 are as follows:

Hello again,

Time to answer another batch of questions.

Several of you asked for a ballpark estimate as to when pre-orders would be up again, but unfortunately I don't have any information on that right now. As I've mentioned previously, we are still working with Nintendo on the details of our launch allotment, and I can't speculate as to when everything will be in place. Once again, your best bet is to sign up for email notification on the Wii detail page if you don't want to re-check our site every day.

Speaking of the email notification, there was a request for clarification on the timing of that email. We plan to send out an email to everyone on that list prior to the next pre-order window with all the relevant details on that window. This will hopefully give just about everyone an equal and fair chance at knowing when to come online and pre-order.

Regarding the launch day allotment, anyone who pre-orders a Wii prior to the November 19 launch can expect to get theirs as part of that first shipment. Past November 19, we will be opening up sales for further batches as we get them, which we hope will help minimize confusion. We know that customers who were able to get in on the last pre-order currently have a ship date of October listed on their order, which is obviously incorrect, but this will be updated when we have an actual delivery estimate, and those customers will receive an email regarding that change.

I still don't have any information on bundles or controller availability, which one of you asked for. However, I can tell you that in previous console launches, controller availability was not typically an issue.

Thanks again for your continued understanding, patience, and feedback.

Edit: Amazon will be taking pre-orders again once they know their actual alottment from Nintendo. All exisiting pre-orders from 9/15 will stand. It also looks like you'll get your console right at launch (no backorders, in otherwords, but no guarentee on launch day). Read all about it in in this discussion thread from the Amazon.com Video Game editor.

Cheapy, you owe me for the comission on this one (just kidding). ;)

Have we heard anything else from Amazon? I'm starting to get a bit concerned and may head to TRU on Sat for preorders.

Last we heard from the Amazon.com Video Games Editor Jon G. is what he wrote in post #205 from this thread. I also put said info in the OP.

BTW, they have reduced orders with mulitiple Wii's down to one Wii per order.

Yeah - this still worries me a bit, though, especially since the ship dates have not been updated in a month.

I think I'll head to my local TRU this Saturday.
especially since the ship dates have not been updated in a month.
Just to let you guys know, I recently checked on my order and the ship date has changed from the last time I've seen it:

Shipping estimate: November 7, 2006 - November 14, 2006
Delivery estimate: November 9, 2006 - November 17, 2006
1 of: Nintendo Wii
Just to let you guys know, I recently checked on my order and the ship date has changed from the last time I've seen it:
Yeah - mine have not been updated (just checked). Makes me nervous.
Yeah - mine have not been updated (just checked). Makes me nervous.
Well for some reason I couldn't access my orders last night when I went to check on my Wii pre-order. So this morning I checked and it got updated. So maybe their fixing it now?

So I emailed amazon about my order not being updated yesterday. They said they were going to start shipping the Wiis super soon (they said they have already started getting stock).

So - they waved my shipping cost (overnight for free!). So $249 out the door!

I'm not sure if they have updated more shipping estimates - it may just be because I asked about mine. I'd check, though, for those who placed their orders and are curious about when it's going to ship.

Update. I got an email saying that they are sorry for the inconvienience and that (I think) I am still going to get my Wii. Also, the feel sorry and gave me a $5 off gift certificate.

What were they sorry about?

Emailed them too, and got a $5.00 certificate. My order dates still havent changed though, which makes me nervous, becuase also, in the email, they said:
Upon investigating your order, I discovered a problem that was
preventing your order from shipping. This problem has been
corrected, and your order will now be shipping soon.

What exactly are you guys asking them? Why the ship dates haven't been updated?
Yeah
If you change the shipping method, even if you change it back right away, the dates get updated.

I recently checked my order and the delivery estimate/arrival has been updated as well:

Shipping estimate: November 6, 2006 - November 13, 2006
Delivery estimate: November 7, 2006 - November 14, 2006
I recently checked my order and the delivery estimate/arrival has been updated as well:
My shipping date is the same as of this morning:

Shipping estimate: November 6, 2006 - November 13, 2006
Delivery estimate: November 7, 2006 - November 14, 2006

If you go to change my order. Then change shipping method. Then click on a diff ship method, but DON'T click change. Click back to the original shipping method and click change. You thing should be updated? :)

Thanks for the heads up guys. I have one of the 9/15 preorders as well, and my shipping date hadn't budged. I just sent the email, and they responded quickly and updated the ship date. Instead of giving me a $5 coupon, they bumped me up from free shipping to standard shipping. I don't know how big of a deal that is, as I have had free shipping items delivered to my door within 24 hours of ordering before. But anyway, good to see the new ship dates. We * might * be getting these before everybody else!

Hopefully Amazon can ship it out on Thursday, so that I can get mine on friday.

I just got an email back from Amazon:

Thank you for writing to Amazon.com with your concern.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience that might have caused regarding
this order.

The Estimated Delivery Date displayed in Your Account for this
shipment is November 07, 2006 - November 14, 2006.

I assure that this item will be delivered in time as mentioned in
your account, we have it on hand and preparing for the shipment.

We will send you an e-mail to let you know when the order has been
shipped. Please feel free to contact us again at

Wow, If that is true, that's fucking awsome.
I just got an email back from Amazon:

You never really know, with the way some recent Nintendo handhelds were released "early" from certain retailers.

I would hope they would at least ship by Friday the 17th via 1 Day Shipping (read: Next Business Day Shipping, as the website claims their is no delivery for 1 Day Shipping on the weekends) and then gets delivered on Monday the 20th. Anything before that is gravy.

BTW, my estimate is:

Delivery estimate: November 3, 2006 - November 9, 2006

I updated my shipping method (just re-confirmed my 2 day free shipping with Prime). They updated it to:

Shipping Date: November 20, 2006
Delivery Estimate: November 22, 2006

No range of dates, just those two.

you guys,
the Wii is not going to ship before Nov. 20th.

Amazon doesn't always have their dates right in their system. I have pre-ordered games that weren't supposed to come out for 4 months saying they would be shipping within 2 weeks, which is impossible.

I emailed Amazon about the shipping date of my Wii just to see if they would give me a coupon or upgraded shipping or something. Here is what I wrote:

I had a question about the shipping date for this order. The
status page lists the estimated delivery date as "September 30, 2006 -
October 11, 2006" but that is obviously not correct. Could you tell me when
this item might be shipping? Thanks.

And this is part of the response I got:

We are very sorry for the delay in completing your order. We strive
for convenience and efficiency at Amazon.com, but in this instance
we have fallen short of our goal. I'm truly sorry that your
impression of doing business with Amazon.com has been so negative.

They make it sound like I was really bitching about it, don't they? Anyway, they did upgrade me to standard shipping, which I guess is good.

I think the difference is that you were pre-ordering a game that didn't exist yet, but in the current situation (according to Amazon):

"I assure that this item will be delivered in time as mentioned in
your account, we have it on hand and preparing for the shipment."

They've got the merchandise already.

The stubborness in this thread is amazing.

I would be shocked if anyone's Wii ships before the 20th, despite these emails people are touting.

Let's call it Wii-shful thinking, not stubborness. After all, the street date for the DS got broken by almost 2 weeks (by Target, etc.) Same for the N64 street date too, I believe.

I've read that Amazon has a history of shipping 'street date' items early, as long as their shipping timeframe estimate anticipates a delivery date on or after the street date.

So if that is true, the best bet would be to get it Monday the 20th. Still not too bad.
