Important News For Amazon.com Video Games Customers

The Nintendo Wii will be available for purchase on Amazon.com on 11/19, Sunday morning (PST). We will be limiting purchases to one per household and we anticipate that we will sell through our inventory very quickly as we've received 100 times more Wii email sign-ups than consoles we'll have available for sale (i.e., for every Nintendo Wii we'll have for sale, over 100 people have signed up to be notified).

We expect to receive periodic shipments of the Wii from Nintendo throughout the holidays and we will post availability updates on the product detail page as well as in the customer discussions on the Nintendo Wii product page:

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0009VXBAQ.

Thank you for your continued support of Amazon.com.

One Day Shipping is $13.98. We need a Wii icon.

Edit 2:
The lastest about your Wii pre-orders from 9/15 are as follows:

Hello again,

Time to answer another batch of questions.

Several of you asked for a ballpark estimate as to when pre-orders would be up again, but unfortunately I don't have any information on that right now. As I've mentioned previously, we are still working with Nintendo on the details of our launch allotment, and I can't speculate as to when everything will be in place. Once again, your best bet is to sign up for email notification on the Wii detail page if you don't want to re-check our site every day.

Speaking of the email notification, there was a request for clarification on the timing of that email. We plan to send out an email to everyone on that list prior to the next pre-order window with all the relevant details on that window. This will hopefully give just about everyone an equal and fair chance at knowing when to come online and pre-order.

Regarding the launch day allotment, anyone who pre-orders a Wii prior to the November 19 launch can expect to get theirs as part of that first shipment. Past November 19, we will be opening up sales for further batches as we get them, which we hope will help minimize confusion. We know that customers who were able to get in on the last pre-order currently have a ship date of October listed on their order, which is obviously incorrect, but this will be updated when we have an actual delivery estimate, and those customers will receive an email regarding that change.

I still don't have any information on bundles or controller availability, which one of you asked for. However, I can tell you that in previous console launches, controller availability was not typically an issue.

Thanks again for your continued understanding, patience, and feedback.

Edit: Amazon will be taking pre-orders again once they know their actual alottment from Nintendo. All exisiting pre-orders from 9/15 will stand. It also looks like you'll get your console right at launch (no backorders, in otherwords, but no guarentee on launch day). Read all about it in in this discussion thread from the Amazon.com Video Game editor.

Cheapy, you owe me for the comission on this one (just kidding). ;)

I emailed amazon yesterday because my delivery estimate was still for September and heres what I got

"Further, please note that sometimes, unexpected fluctuations in
supply can add time to our original availability estimate. We have
learned that this item is now back-ordered, and our supplier has not
been able to let us know exactly when they expect to have more in
stock."

"I apologize that you were not notified sooner of this change in
availability."

"The revised delivery estimate for your order is November 14, 2006."

"To help you compensate you for this, I've waived off the shipping
charges you paid for this package."

Free one-day shipping and no tax, not bad.

I got pretty much the same email, but:

The new Estimated Delivery Date for this order is November 9, 2006 - November 17, 2006.

They gave you a single date rather than a range of days? Maybe it has to do with you getting one-day shipping.

If ANYTHING, your order will be shipped on Friday 17th.

I have ordered through Amazon for over 5 years. I have received all the emails you can imagine from customer service. What you received from them is pretty much a standard response.

Good luck if you think you're getting a Wii 12 days before anyone else. :D

I updated my order (confirmed existing shipping option) for fun, and now the 'estimate' is shipping on 11/6-11/7, delivery on 11/7-11/8.

Previously it was shipping on 10/31-11/7, delivery on 11/1-11/8.

I'd laugh my ass of if it actually happened though :).

Even with a Wii 12 days early, you would only have Wii sports to play!

Mine was still listed as October. I went to change my shipping method, left it the same (2 day free Amazon Prime) and hit submit... my shipping dates are now listed the same as everyone else: Nov 7-14.

Yay!

Official Amazon update re: Friday (from the product discussion forum):

Amazon.com Video Games Customers,

During system maintenance on the morning of Friday, October 27, the Nintendo Wii was briefly made available on our Web site for test purposes only and was not intended to be available for pre-order. During this time, several pre-orders were taken. Because the console did surface on the site, we have decided to honor pre-orders - up to one per household - that were made during this period. Please know that we are doing our best to maximize the availability of the Wii and its associated game titles at launch and beyond.

Once we officially begin to take pre-orders, you can be assured that all customers who have signed up to receive e-mail confirmation of Wii's availability will be notified.

If you have any questions, Amazon.com Customer Service is always ready to assist you, and we'll do our best to answer questions in this forum.

Thank you for your patience in this matter,

T.M., Amazon.com Video Games Editor

I'm afraid to mess with it since I don't have the Prime trial anymore. Mine still says October. I called CS and was told it's still guaranteed to ship once they get them in but I was told it won't be available until the 19th. I hope that lady was wrong but either way I'm good.

Good work, that's all the confirmation I need. No waiting in massive lines for me baby!
BTW - if anybody is lucky enough to get one shipped out early, please let us all know!
You think we would keep it a secret? :D

Everyone! Go do the change ship thing to update your account. For the past two days, it as been moved back 1day per day.

So? The 'update anything to revise your ship date' is nothing new. I'm sure they'll update shipping timeframes for all the orders once they begin processing them for shipment.
You think we would keep it a secret? :D
No - I just want to start the pre-possible-early-Wii-shipment hype!

Just noticed I never put my estimated ship date up :

Shipping estimate: November 4, 2006 - November 11, 2006

It has not changed since I emailed them. Here's hoping it holds :).
I emailed them because my date didn't update and they updated and gave me a 10$ certificate! :)
My "Shipping Estimate" was still at September 25th:
> Delivery estimate: September 25, 2006 - October 2, 2006

Is now:
Delivery estimate: November 9, 2006 - November 16, 2006
with free 1-day and a 5$ credit

Thanks!

I emailed about the date, my shit now reads
Delivery estimate: November 13, 2006 - November 21, 2006

but I could not finagle a gift certificate and I tried.

heh, i just updated my ship and now it says
Shipping estimate: November 8, 2006 - November 15, 2006
Delivery estimate: November 10, 2006 - November 17, 2006

I updated the shipping for my 9/15 order today, and it changed to a shipping estimate of 11/20. My dad has a separate 10/27 preorder, and the shipping date for that one is now 11/27. It looks like they're maybe finalizing their shipment plans, and the 9/15 orders are being prioritized. Any else confirm?

EDIT: Nevermind; I updated my 9/15 order again, and it now says 11/13-11/20 for shipping, rather than just 11/20. The dates are moving all over the place.

I have been updating the shipping and the dates were moving back one day each day. Nov5-14 became Nov. 7-14, became Nov. 10-14, and now, and for the past 2-3 days, the shipping date is simply, Shipping Estamite: November 13. Delivery Estamite: November 14. Also, I preordered on the 9/15 date

I would imagine it would be easier to get a Gift Certificate by not updating your shipping date right now. So, if the date stated it would ship on 11/14, and you email them on 11/16 stating "Excuse me kind sir, but WTF? It's been over 2 days since you said you would ship and you haven't!" I think that would make it easier for them to give a little "token" rather than updating the date now and complaining the date changed.

Yeah, I'm not at all concerned about a GC and I already have overnight shipping selected, so they couldn't upgrade me. But that is a good tip!

I emailed CS w/o changing anything on my order. They updated it to:
Shipping estimate: November 20, 2006
Delivery estimate: November 22, 2006

and they waived the fee for 2-day shipping, no GC tho.. thnx for the tip.

Amazon is CS is great (Got this tip from SD).. My Gigabeat S30 whcih I bought in July, dropped from $270 to $217 earlier this month. I emailed them to get the difference back and they refunded me $52 on my CC w/in 2 days..I bought the item 4 months ago. Ive also done it with a Vacuum I bought from them, and some Ipod accessories..after 6 months they still gave me back the difference. :)

Any rumors as to if the Wii preorder will come back on Amazon prior to launch date? I'm debating if I should give up worrying about it and just get in line at ToysRUs.
When did you order?
Order Date: September 15, 2006, I ordered when there was only 1 or 2 replies on this thread

I'm sure they will ship when they physically get the Wii's in their warehouse. Just be glad you got one, some of us (including myself) haven't been as lucky yet.

Just got an e-mail back from them about the erroneous Wii shipping dates. They told me that they changed the status of my order to "ship as it becomes available." I think that is a good thing, (meaning I won't have to wait longer) since I was among the first to pre-order on September 15th. I was told that it was estimated to ship on the 20th and be at my house on the 21st. They also gave me a $15 promotional certificate for my troubles!

I still wouldn't mind having the comfort of knowing that I would be having a Wii delivered to me, even if the system came a few days/weeks after launch. It's not like there is a shortage of games across all platforms right now, not to mention the fact that there is no rush to go online with the Wii in the first place (aside from the VC of course).
They also gave me a $15 promotional certificate for my troubles!
Man, they really don't have any uniformity with how they deal with these questions, do they? Congrats, though.

Hmm, weird. I "updated" my order, and it changed to Ship:13 Recieve:14. If I do get it, I will seriously...go buy some games.
Ok, yeah, now its 20/21
I just updated mine again and it changed to delivery date of 14-21. Amazon needs to straighten this shit out.

Nothing to really straighten out. Regardless of what it states on the invoice, Wii launches 11/19, a Sunday. Amazon opens Monday, your shit ships on Monday, you get it the next day if you chose next day delivery. You get it Wednesday if you chose 2-day shippiing. Although it is kinda fun speculating if we would get our goodness early.

Ditto. Whatever delivery service they use, Amazon claims they don't deliver 1 Day Shipping packages on the weekends.
