Important News For Amazon.com Video Games Customers

The Nintendo Wii will be available for purchase on Amazon.com on 11/19, Sunday morning (PST). We will be limiting purchases to one per household and we anticipate that we will sell through our inventory very quickly as we've received 100 times more Wii email sign-ups than consoles we'll have available for sale (i.e., for every Nintendo Wii we'll have for sale, over 100 people have signed up to be notified).

We expect to receive periodic shipments of the Wii from Nintendo throughout the holidays and we will post availability updates on the product detail page as well as in the customer discussions on the Nintendo Wii product page:

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0009VXBAQ.

Thank you for your continued support of Amazon.com.

One Day Shipping is $13.98. We need a Wii icon.

Edit 2:
The lastest about your Wii pre-orders from 9/15 are as follows:

Hello again,

Time to answer another batch of questions.

Several of you asked for a ballpark estimate as to when pre-orders would be up again, but unfortunately I don't have any information on that right now. As I've mentioned previously, we are still working with Nintendo on the details of our launch allotment, and I can't speculate as to when everything will be in place. Once again, your best bet is to sign up for email notification on the Wii detail page if you don't want to re-check our site every day.

Speaking of the email notification, there was a request for clarification on the timing of that email. We plan to send out an email to everyone on that list prior to the next pre-order window with all the relevant details on that window. This will hopefully give just about everyone an equal and fair chance at knowing when to come online and pre-order.

Regarding the launch day allotment, anyone who pre-orders a Wii prior to the November 19 launch can expect to get theirs as part of that first shipment. Past November 19, we will be opening up sales for further batches as we get them, which we hope will help minimize confusion. We know that customers who were able to get in on the last pre-order currently have a ship date of October listed on their order, which is obviously incorrect, but this will be updated when we have an actual delivery estimate, and those customers will receive an email regarding that change.

I still don't have any information on bundles or controller availability, which one of you asked for. However, I can tell you that in previous console launches, controller availability was not typically an issue.

Thanks again for your continued understanding, patience, and feedback.

Edit: Amazon will be taking pre-orders again once they know their actual alottment from Nintendo. All exisiting pre-orders from 9/15 will stand. It also looks like you'll get your console right at launch (no backorders, in otherwords, but no guarentee on launch day). Read all about it in in this discussion thread from the Amazon.com Video Game editor.

Cheapy, you owe me for the comission on this one (just kidding). ;)

I bet in the end, many of the 1 days will end up leaving the warehouse early and showing up on Friday or Sat (if they use USPS one day that is...) or at worst, Monday. I've never known Amazon to be super sticklers on release dates for software and hardware. It's close enough usually. The release date embargo is usually set to guarantee that all stores have adequate supply and are ready to go. This will show up at their warehouse and they'll have them all boxed up and ready to go by Thursday before I'd imagine. I wouldn't be suprised if a good portion of them shipped out on Friday. Or they could, just as easily, ship based on your location from distribution center.

I had the Wii in my shopping cart from 9/15 and just placed the order for it today and it went through! Very lucky, I had just been waiting to find out if I could order it anywhere else but that is becoming highly unlikely now with preorders beind sold out.

So I now have a Delivery estimate of November 15th to November 22nd with 1-day shipping. I hope I get it during the first wave of shipments so I can play it that first weekend, if not I will have to wait to play because I am going to be gone during thanksgiving weekend and will have to play with it after that then.

I finally decided to get it based on all the positive previews of Zelda. That game just looks so solid, I can't wait to play that! I pre-ordered it seperately from my Wii system order just so they ship seperately.
Just got an e-mail back from them about the erroneous Wii shipping dates. They told me that they changed the status of my order to "ship as it becomes available." I think that is a good thing, (meaning I won't have to wait longer) since I was among the first to pre-order on September 15th. I was told that it was estimated to ship on the 20th and be at my house on the 21st. They also gave me a $15 promotional certificate for my troubles!
Wow, I'm gonna try to get one of those so it can go towards a Wii Points card. Not going to be nasty or push it though. Amazon has earned my good graces these past few months and has become my favorite shopping outlet ever (online and B & M).

No offense, but you guys are jackasses. The preorders were a system glitch, and Amazon had no obligation to honor them. They've been kind enough to honor them and now you guys are making demands and trying to exploit them for gift certificates.

Secondly, none of us have made demands. All we have done is send inquiries about the ship dates, and they have voluntarily sent us certificates. In fact, if you actually read most the posts, no one "demanded" anything, but asked about the shipping date inconsistencies.

Something tells me I'll be glad I got in on the Walmart bundle when all this Amazon business comes to a head. Good luck to you guys.

Thanks for trying, but the original 9/15 preorders were not a glitch. They were listed intentionally.

Walmart bundle is fine, but Amazon has already confirmed that both sets of preorders will be honored at launch, with no bundles or tax. Everyone wins!

Whoa, I just did the ship-update-thing, and the Ship/Deliv. dates changed from 20, 21 to 13-20, 14-21. OOOOOOOO Maybe I get Wii Early,.

Mine has been switching like that for a few days now. It'll switch back if you try it again later.

Hmmm, I just figured...If I don't get a shipping email by Sunday, I should be able to canel it, then it won't ship on Monday, right? I think I may be willing to spend the extra $5 on Sunday to get it two days early if I can cancel from Amazon.

And by extra 5, I mean extra 5 from tax compared to overnight shipping.

You can bet Amazon will be placing these all in "Shipping Soon" status a few days before launch so that you WON'T be able to cancel them and try to get one somewhere else. I'd be very certain that you actually want what you order by Thursday or Friday before launch.
My overnight shipping was only 3.99 :)
My overnight shipping was free. I got it because I sent email to ask when they will ship it since it say sometimes in Sept. They said , it is their mistake and they offer me free overnight shipping. I am a happy customer.

I have an Amazon pre-order as a backup, but I'm still going to try and get one at a midnight launch anyway. I can return the Amazon order if I need to and I'm only out the return shipping, which should only be a few bucks.
dang... everytime i see this thread bumped, i hope for another pre-order op!
Yeah, me too! I hope they take more soon, and hopefully with notification this time as I missed out on the first few chances.

Changed my shipping and it went from the arriving on the 9th of Nov, to January 9th. Not that I put much weight in their estimates, as they are screwy.

Just re-update your shipping; I'm sure it'll go back to November XX.

EDIT: I've updated my shipping 3 times today, and it's had a fixed ship date of 11/20 since the first update. This is the first time it's been consistent for me, and this date makes sense.
I'm the OP of this thread and I ordered before I posted.
Weird, yeah..just reupdate.

Shipping estimate: November 8, 2006
Delivery estimate: November 9, 2006

Just got that after updating again, I wish amazon would update their systems with firm ship dates.
How do you "update" your shipping?
on the left side go to where it says change shipping method(something like that) and then just confirm your shipping option again.

i've been updated to shipping tommorow and i've updated 15 times since then and it isnt changing, will i get lucky!?!!

Hehehe...

Yeah, I just updated my shipping. January 8->9
Immediately reupdated. November 8->9
Clicked back to my outstanding orders page... November 10

Their estimator is REAL screwy.

I'm just concerned that my only confirmation that Amazon will actually honor my order is something I read on a website...

Someone on the Amazon boards said they spoke to a CSR who said the January dates were a glitch, and that everyone was fine for launch. My 9/15 order is still holding at an 11/20 ship date today.

Additionally, the Amazon Video Games Editor posted again on the Amazon boards, and indicated that an officially announced pre-order slot will occur 'later this week.' Rumor has it that they've already pre-sold 2/3 of their launch allocation.

EDIT: Please remove or shrink that over-wide screenshot.

I'm hoping that January date really is a glitch. I just applied another GC to my 9/15 order and it changed from delivery date Nov 8th to Jan 10th. Argh!

This is so odd. If I pick 1-day shipping instead of 2-day shipping, I get a Nov date. If I pick 2-day shipping, I get January. And now all it's giving me is January no matter what method I pick.:bomb:

Damn, wish I would have read this before I changed my CC info. I realized I won't have enough funds on the card I used to preorder so I changed it and now my "estmiated ship date" is January 9th 2007. WTF! Seems like I got placed at the butt of the line for doing this. I sent an email to Amazon. I'll post an update when I receive it.

I just had luck by changing my shipping method to super saver, which brought me back to november, and then changing back to overnight (which I wanted) - the november date stuck. Anyone who seems to know anything says it's a glitch, and that anyone who orders before launch will ship at launch. We'll see.

EDIT: damn my paranoia. Like many others, I've emailed Amazon about this. I'll post the response if it's useful.

Since yesterday, the Ship=10 Nov and the Deliv=13 Nov. I have literally updated 6 times in the past days and the shipping dates haven't changd

Woo same day delivery by bike messenger.
oops, changed to what I really meant
Mine was 11/20 --> 11/21 consistently for a few days, then 11/9 --> 11/10 consistently for a few days, then 1/9/07 --> 1/10/07 consistently for a few concerning hours. Now 11/15 --> 11/28 (however the hell that could happen). I think the system is just guessing.

Here's a happy update today from Amazon, from the Wii product discussion forum:

Amazon.com Video Games Editors
Initial post
First off, we'd like to thank all of you for continuing to drive this community and supporting Amazon.com.

At this time, we apologize but we do not yet have more information on preorders. We expect to have full details early next week at which point we will post those details here, in the discussion board, and send out an email notification to all of those who signed up for one.

Again, we know this will be short notice with a release date of 11/19 and we apologize for the delay.

Finally, a few notes:

1. There will be NO BUNDLES!

2. All customers who have already placed preorders will have their orders fulfilled in our first shipment from Nintendo. That means that you should be getting your Wii shortly after 11/19.

3. Zelda: Twilight Princess is no longer available for preorder. As above, all customers who have placed preorders will have their orders fulfilled in our first shipment from Nintendo. We do expect that we will have more units available for order on or around 11/19.

Thank you again for your continued support.

But those dates are still before the actual 19th launch date. :) So if it really does ship then (which I doubt, but I'm hoping it does since my order now says the same dates), then you would get your Wii early. :)

There was a similar update in the PS3 forum, but interestingly it didn't say anything about not having bundles...

First off, we'd like to thank all of you for continuing to drive this community and supporting Amazon.com.

At this time, we apologize but we do not yet have more information on preorders as we are still nailing down specifics with Sony. We expect to have full details early next week at which point we will post those details here, in the discussion board, and send out an email notification to all of those who signed up for one.

Again, we know this will be short notice with a release date of 11/17 and we apologize for the delay.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Oh I know... that's what I'm saying, I HIGHLY doubt it will ship on the 13th, and if my date info gets pushed back too far I'll skip it.

Mother fuckers...
First, please let me apologize for any misunderstanding. When you
make certain changes to an order via Your Account, our system re-
evaluates our inventory to determine the best fulfillment plan for
your order given the new information. Occasionally, this may result
in a change to the expected shipment and delivery dates for the
order.

In this particular case, changing the payment method would have
prompted our system to re-evaluate our inventory as described...

...To help compensate you for this unexpected change, I have waived off
the shipping charges for your order.
