Important News For Amazon.com Video Games Customers

The Nintendo Wii will be available for purchase on Amazon.com on 11/19, Sunday morning (PST). We will be limiting purchases to one per household and we anticipate that we will sell through our inventory very quickly as we've received 100 times more Wii email sign-ups than consoles we'll have available for sale (i.e., for every Nintendo Wii we'll have for sale, over 100 people have signed up to be notified).

We expect to receive periodic shipments of the Wii from Nintendo throughout the holidays and we will post availability updates on the product detail page as well as in the customer discussions on the Nintendo Wii product page:

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0009VXBAQ.

Thank you for your continued support of Amazon.com.

One Day Shipping is $13.98. We need a Wii icon.

Edit 2:
The lastest about your Wii pre-orders from 9/15 are as follows:

Hello again,

Time to answer another batch of questions.

Several of you asked for a ballpark estimate as to when pre-orders would be up again, but unfortunately I don't have any information on that right now. As I've mentioned previously, we are still working with Nintendo on the details of our launch allotment, and I can't speculate as to when everything will be in place. Once again, your best bet is to sign up for email notification on the Wii detail page if you don't want to re-check our site every day.

Speaking of the email notification, there was a request for clarification on the timing of that email. We plan to send out an email to everyone on that list prior to the next pre-order window with all the relevant details on that window. This will hopefully give just about everyone an equal and fair chance at knowing when to come online and pre-order.

Regarding the launch day allotment, anyone who pre-orders a Wii prior to the November 19 launch can expect to get theirs as part of that first shipment. Past November 19, we will be opening up sales for further batches as we get them, which we hope will help minimize confusion. We know that customers who were able to get in on the last pre-order currently have a ship date of October listed on their order, which is obviously incorrect, but this will be updated when we have an actual delivery estimate, and those customers will receive an email regarding that change.

I still don't have any information on bundles or controller availability, which one of you asked for. However, I can tell you that in previous console launches, controller availability was not typically an issue.

Thanks again for your continued understanding, patience, and feedback.

Edit: Amazon will be taking pre-orders again once they know their actual alottment from Nintendo. All exisiting pre-orders from 9/15 will stand. It also looks like you'll get your console right at launch (no backorders, in otherwords, but no guarentee on launch day). Read all about it in in this discussion thread from the Amazon.com Video Game editor.

Cheapy, you owe me for the comission on this one (just kidding). ;)

Umm you got free shipping for something you already knew to be just a glitch, what's the problem?

^ What are you talking about. He had to change his CC because it wouldn't be enough to pay for the Wii that he put on the original credit card. Now that he has changed his payment method, it looks like he has been bumped to the back of the line. I for one think getting system at launch > free shipping for system at January 2007.

Thanks for that, I forgot to quote my original post. I'm starting to think that It might not be so bad to wait since i'm quite busy with my X360 right now.

Ahh, I hadn't been following the thread in the past couple days, I figured this was just another "Hey my ship date is wrong, so uhh... give me gift certificates!" post. Sorry to hear you got bumped like that dude, that really sucks.

i dont think that means he got bumped if you just keep updating the ship date it will change back to an earllier date if it truely reevaluated the inventory and shipping and sent him to the back of the line he would not be able to keep updating and changing to earlier dates as everyone else has

Im I the only one reading the messages from Amazon??? They have said MANY times that everyone that has preordered a WII thus far will be in on the first shipment, shipped around Nov 19th. Please just read the top of this page, where someone posted ANOTHER message from Amazon verifying this. You WILL get your preorder in the first shipment, and you get free shipping now. You should be overjoyed

Hes part of the video games department at Amazon. I think there are about 2 other members of Amazon's video game staff that also posts on the forumns verifing the same info.

PLEASE READ MY POST AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. It was confirmed, again, tofuckingday, that you'll get your system at lauch. The CSRs are clueless. And you got free shipping. If you're still confused, please reread this post continuously until you feel better.

Just sick of seeing the same posts on 3 different boards everytime someone gets a form letter from a CSR, which was the whole point of my posting that note from Amazon's actual video game staff, who actually know what they're talking about. Sorry to jump on you, but after taking the time to repost the note, like two posts after mine is another ZOMGJanuaryWTFIMSCREWED post.
I wish they'd just hurry up and confirm the ship date as being either Friday, Saturday, or Monday...
Me Too:headache:

i erally hope the at least ship them by friday so we can have them Monday morning if anything. Id even be happy to recieve it on friday.

I really wouldnt get your hopes up for them shipping before Monday.

Obviously I hope they do sooner as well, but it really is not too likely.

The bit from the most recent Amazon update was 'will be shipped from the first shipment we receive from nintendo, should receive shortly AFTER the 19th. So they must be shipping monday at the earliest, otherwise people with overnight shipping would receive the system early. Unless they ship on Saturday?

I largely want to know simply because if the system is going to not ship until Monday, I'd just as soon cancel my order and buy it at a local store early Sunday morning...

Monday seems like a good bet, unfortunately (from your standpoint). The last update said they'd update everything and open an announced preorder window early next week, so hopefully we'll know for sure soon. But there are a bunch of people who'd love the chance to buy an unbundled Wii from Amazon, so you may want to come to an arrangement with a fellow CAG before cancelling it. Amazon lets you ship anywhere, not just to the billing address. Just a suggestion.

You'd feel pretty dumb if it turned out that you weren't able to find a system locally though, wouldn't you?

2. All customers who have already placed preorders will have their orders fulfilled in our first shipment from Nintendo. That means that you should be getting your Wii shortly after 11/19.

It would be pretty tough to release it on Friday or Saturday and still be after the 19th.

i can wait for it to even ship on monday. With no tax and 3 dollar overnight shipping i saved about 10 bucks or so in taxes. That can go towards everything else i need to get (extra contoller, game, points, etc).

Yeah -- please let me know before you cancel this order (if it comes to that). I'd love to get a bundle free Wii.

I'm going to wait till sunday and if can get one, i'm canceling my amazon order. If i get one and one from amazon, i have no idea what to do. Maybe sell it???

Pretty sure they are going to ship on Monday. I am one of the lucky 9/15 pre-orderers and I got an email today saying:

"Please contact us again by visiting the URL below if you do not
receive a shipment confirmation by November 20, 2006:"

Interesting. I also have a 9/15 preorder. They emailed you just to say that, or was that in response to a customer service question that you asked?

If they aren't shipping until Monday then I, too, will be cancelling my Amazon order. I rather spend another $15 in tax or whatever to have my Gamestop pre-order nice and early on Sunday morning rather than wait until Tuesday or whenever it is they ship it. My ship date is still listed as today, which I am sure they aren't going to make =P
Interesting. I also have a 9/15 preorder. They emailed you just to say that, or was that in response to a customer service question that you asked?
It was an email in response to my "why didn't you ship between the 8th and the 12th like you said" email. They also bumped up my shipping to Express. This is the second shipping bump-up they have given me. I started with Free Super Saver and now I am at (free) Express shipping.

Oddly enough, despite what the email said, they only changed the onlline status to shipping on the 14th and delivery on the 16th. I guess if I send them another email on the 15th they are going to bump me up to overnight shipping :)
That would be pretty damn "next-gen."
Final Wii secret revealed! $250 price justified!

I keed, I keed.
you guys make me sick. thinking of cancelling a preorder and I am trying to just get a preorder.
No shit; listening to these princesses whine because their system, which is being released on a Sunday (by choice of Nintendo), won't be in their hands on the same day.

Bunch a whinin' ungrateful pricks.

Indeed... looking at all these comments about shipping is pretty amusing. Most people who preordered have probably been waiting for quite a while anyway, so what's a few more days? Patience is a virtue. ;)

I was lucky enough to get a preorder back in september, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to arrive. I bought it for the convenience of not wasting any of my time waiting in line and also because it's not packaged into a ridiculously large, expensive bundle. I would have thought most people would be satisfied.

Personally, my guess is that most or all of them will ship Monday/Tuesday, but as long as it arrives before xmas, I'll be a happy camper... I have plenty of other gaming options until then.

Amazon just confirmed that they aren't taking anymore preorders before the launch as they have presold all their consoles, but they said everyone who did get a preorder will get it shortly after the 19th. The same for PS3s, they won't do preorders, but should have some on launch.

Due to inventory constraints, we regret to announce that Amazon will not be conducting any additional preorders for the Nintendo Wii.

We will continue to update this discussion board with more information as soon as it's available.

Note: All customers who have already placed preorders will have their orders fulfilled in our first shipment from Nintendo. That means that you should be getting your Wii shortly after 11/19.

I'm pretty fucking speechless. I guess the Wii won't be abundant like we thought. Or they are just scared due to the GameStop PS3 hoopla.

Well, just as long as it gets here before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Most (if not all) post offices will be closed during that time, and it would be great timing to show the family the new hardware.

Hmm. I reset my shipping and it's showing Jan 15 every time now. Not good. I'll have to send Amazon a nastigram...

I agree, though, it would be nice to get it this weekend, but I'll be perfectly happy if I can get it in time for the long weekend.

I did one-day shipping so the latest I think I'd get it is Tuesday. On the one hand, Monday would be nice (if they shipped Friday), but on the other hand I have a test on Tuesday, so yeah....

I have a Nov. 15th shipping date with Nov. 16th estimated delivery date. I know full well this won't happen, but still do you think it would? ;)

Why can't Amazon get their act together?

From all indications I have, my Wii will be shipping on Jan 15, despite my Sept. 15 order.

I realize this may not be true, but I also don't trust Amazon not to drop the ball. It seems very few have an actual ship date of Nov 20. Why can't they just fix the damn dates?

Maybe because there are bored little kiddies constantly updating their shipping for no reason. You think because you update your shipping and the shipping estimate says an earlier date that they will actually ship it out by then?

All of the people who ordered in Sept had an original estimate of like October 4th. Obviously that isnt real. If you ordered it in Sept. your Wii will more likely then not ship on Monday the 20th. If it ships earlier great, no need to bitch and complain about it day after day.

If it ships on the 20th, that's fine. My issue is with it shipping in January.

Getting it early would be a nice plus. However, I have no indication from amazon that it will be shipping before Christmas.

I haven't pre-ordered anywhere else because Amazon assured me that I would get my Wii in a timely fashion. Now it seems that trust is breaking down.

They assured you that your getting your Wii "timely." I don't see where the trust is breaking down.
