Most of the stuff that Gamestop price drops tends to be in line with universal price drops, but because not all of them are, this thread is warranted. Also, if the price of the new item has dropped in price, expect the used item price to similarly follow suit and be $2-$5 less than its new retail price. Sometimes the used version drops first, but both are often around the same time.

Many of these items are sold out in stores since they're old and won't get restocked (Gamestop, after all, tends to make most of its money from selling used games), so you'll have to do a zip code store search for the appropriate title to hopefully find it in your area if you can't buy the item online.

All of this information is presented on the Gamestop website, but because of their new "Price Drop" algorithm, it doesn't really display when new price drops hit. Since I started keeping a running list for current platforms, I figure its easy enough to do a comparison to my lists every week. I generally run the reports once a week on Wednesday mornings, because I've noticed most price drops occur on Monday or Tuesday mornings so I wanted to catch those on the weekly report. If you find price drops sooner than my weekly Wednesday morning report, feel free to post them in the thread so others can get a "head start". I no longer have time to maintain this thread due to my new job but feel free to continue posting Gamestop price drops in this thread or if anyone wants to take over just let me know. Thanks!

Wow...price drops on a bunch of semi-recent Atlus titles. I guess a lot of those games are still sitting around at places.

Regarding both Rondo of Swords and Baroque - be prepared to be frustrated at them if you don't know much about the game. Rondo of Swords is a SRPG with a twist so you'll really have to plan out your moves to win (some people say throw out what you know about playing SRPG when you play Rondo). Once you get into the swing of things, it becomes enjoyable and a good game to play.

Baroque - Roguelike style game. Cryptic story where dying actually helps propel the story. Quite strange. Controls and camera can be a little wonky, but it's fun if you like roguelike style dungeon crawlers.

I suggest trying and rent the game first to see if you like it or not. I think $30 is still a little steep for an extremely niche title if you are into playing roguelikes. $20 is a better price, IMO, if you want to buy. Or maybe the used GS prices is gonna be like $25 and you can get it cheap if the right coupons come out.

Not sure if they'll do it again, but Amazon had Touch Detective 2 1/2 for less than $8 a week ago.

Hmmm... Very tempted on Riviera and Burnout Paradise. Used price on Burnout is $26.99 so if I can hold out for a good weekly coupon that could be as cheap as $17.xx. Riviera isn't listed on their web site though...
 
Looks like I'll probably be getting Riviera, if I can find a sealed copy.

I didn't see this mentioned, but I pickled up a new/sealed copy of Master Jin Jin's IQ Challenge (DS) for $6.99 in store. The website still has it listed for $14.99 so I'm not sure what's going on there.

The PSP castlevania game is excellent and a great value at $20. - It also includes SotN through an unlockable! I did pick it up from Amazon a while back for around $18 though.


Be aware... it's hardcore Castlevania and will make you want to throw your PSP out the window.

Theres a good chance it will despite being from Atlus. on VG Chartz this game has yet to sell over 5k. Spectral Force has sold 21k. Both should be seeing price drops eventually, especially Operation Darkness.
 
Everyone that's a fan of adventure or horror games needs to pick up Penumbra Overture for that price. It has some of the best physics integration in a game, and is very atmospheric and moody (not to mention will probably scare the crap out of you even if you're a seasoned Silent Hill/Resident Evil veteran).

VG Chartz is incredibly innacurate.

I'm sure Operation Darkness is selling badly, of course, but by no means should you take VG Chartz at face value.

I agree that Castlevania (PSP) is awesome. I saw a few around my local targets (Miami area) a few weeks ago for 14.98 on clearance, but odds are that is history so 19.99 is a good deal for that game unless you can find it used and get it with the GS coupon out now + edge.
 
I saw the Madden NFL 09 Collector's Edition for 360 new for $80 today. I would assume it's the same for the PS3 version.

Yeah not as good a deal as the Target clearance, but an option for someone, especially if they're just now buying their console.

Yea, LO is showing up as 34.99 on the website. With the coupon + Edge deal I'll probably pick one up today. Although these are hitting clearance at Targets too. Local store had them for $41 so if you want to wait you might score LO for $15 in a couple weeks if you get lucky.
