Record of Agarest War Naughty Edition for Xbox 360 - $56.57 (price drop)
This thread just makes me want a new proper Shining Force game.
There is one; it's called Shining Force Feather on the DS. Unfortunately, it's only in Japan for now, but if Sega ever pulls its head out of its ass, it might show up here.
I think this might be the only SRPG on the Xbox 360... (I can't think of any others off the top of my head)
...I just looked it up, apparently Defense Grid is on Xbox Live. I don't know if it's worth getting, but it got a nice review on IGN. http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/102/1020613p1.html (I guess I'll check it out since I have a bunch of space Xbox Live Space Bucks)
I'm pretty sure Defense Grid is a tower defense game which is kinda different. The SRPGs on the 360 are Operation Darkness (basically what would happen if Valkyria Chronicles was developed a lot more poorly), Spectral Force 3 (also by Idea Factory and I think the graphics might be slightly better than Agarest but not by much), Zoids Assault (a poor man's version of a Front Mission game), Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment on XBLA (graphics seem more childish than previous entries but otherwise looks solid) and lastly, Band of Bugs on XBLA, which I know nothing about:cry:.

EDIT: Took too long typing and a couple of posters beat me to it. Didn't know this thread was so closely monitered!
No non-limited edition release? =(
there was supposed to be one, it was supposed to retail for $40. If there isn't one, I'll probably pass on this game completely

Spectral Force 3, Operation Darkness, and Zoids Assault (terrible but it's an SRPG). If you want Operation Darkness newegg has it ATM for like 8-9 bucks shipped, and Zoid Assault is 7-8 shipped but I highly recommend not getting Zoids :D

Operation Darkness wasn't too bad. I liked the change of scenery for a SRPG and the challenge, especially near the end of the game.

Spectral Forces is in my backlog. Zoids Assault too, but I think I'll definitely not play it ever  ...

Vandal Hearts new character design was a huge letdown. But I'll probably buy it when it'll become cheaper.

BTW I pre-ordered this Agarest. I'll probably keep it just for collection.

Don't bother with Zoids Assault, coming from an SRPG fan + Atlus fan + (minor) Zoids fan.

BTW, Idea Factory also worked on Sakura Wars: So Long My Love....
*watches as sales for SW plumets*

Wow I had no idea that existed.

When I think of Idea Factory, I always remember Chaos Wars. *shudders*

And I agree with the other poster that the extras feel tacked on because the game isn't worth $60 on its own.
That had to be the least funny thing I've ever seen.
You clearly don't frequent these forums often.
You clearly don't frequent these forums often.
You're right..........there is more unfunny stuff than that.........but that was pretty GD bad. I seriously went from 'If this is ever really cheap, I'll buy it potentially for collector's reasoning' to 'If anyone ever offers me this, I'll stab them.'

On topic so I don't get in trouble with mods, hey, at least it comes with a lot of stuff and a collector's edition at the normal price of a regular game isn't that bad of a deal at all, even if the game is potentially going to be shite.

Lol, im in for one. Was waiting anxiously for this game to hit PSN, and was sad when it got delayed, but was happy when i found out it was still coming as a download for PSN, and retail on 360. Gotta love a game where your relationships with females ACTUALLY results in a massive change to gameplay. (You can have children, who become your main characters down the line depending on who you went with)

I've never played this type of game, anyway. I'm looking forward to it. I pre-ordered it, before they even added pictures to the listing.

If by some miracle this does outsell Red Dead: Redemption, it'll hold some sort of record for amount of returns after two days in the history of video games.

I just don't see most of my friends, for example, buying something so overtly Japanese. I suspect that will be the case for most FPS 360 owners.

I just bought a 360 since the Cave shmup games seem like they are being localized now.

Hopefully there is a market for Japanese games in the US so more of them will come over.
I think this is about all you need to know about this game:

Everytime I see this pic I know its a sausage but think someone is feeding her a piece of poo.....First time was on Kotaku and I was like why the hell are they posting nasty anime scat porn.
If only it had nudity in it :(
They would sell more copys :D
my take is that they are gambling on the fact having the hints at nudity would get more prepubescent boys buying the game and maybe get some older audience rather than having a NA rating (or whatever that is intended for adult only) and lose out the kiddies with their money and not getting a whole lot of sales.
Screwed over PS3 owners.
What to do. What to do.
like EA didnt screw over XBOX owners with that DANTES INFERNO CRAP
I second that motion, and raise you a what-the-fork.
Another Date SIM Strategy RPG from RED the makers of the Sakura Taisen Franchise.., which was just as awesome.., The game play on this looks really good I just think that theyre going about marketing it the wrong way. Especially at a teen rating. Im Glad that its only a regular $60 price point

Thanks, I'll check some of these out.
at least your buying it with discretion when you download it on the PS3
This is a rad collector's edition.

I had the same first thought as well, but I was finally able to get my mind to say "sausage" instead of "poo" for that picture after seeing it 3 or 4 times.

I'm pretty shocked because Record of Agarest War is currently #34 in Videogames. Hopefully that will induce publishers to bring more SRPGs over here. :bouncy: (Sakura Wars I-IV would be nice)

I cant....we are talking about Japan here....my mind says at best its a poo disguised as a sausage.

Record of Agarest War is an okay game.

The great thing about the SRPG part is there is a 'skip' option during battles (not Boss battles) where the AI takes over and the characters play themselves out. Great for grinding and powering through the game to get to the... real purpose of the game. :D

It's going to be exactly like BlazBlue. Once the first run of LEs sells out, the rest of the shipments will be the Standard Edition.

You can also add Growlanser PSP and Shining Force Feather to that list. And if I really wanna go out there, maybe even Growlanser IV.

Except BlazBlue's LE wasn't rare... I guess the artbook fetched a decent price on eBay but I'm skeptical that this LE will be worth much down the road.

Well, for starters, the artbook never came with Blazblue. It was a gamestop.com exclusive (for the most part) and you received one if you pre-ordered it from the GS website. The only difference between the LE and the SE of Blazblue is that the LE comes with a bonus introduction DVD and two disks containing the OST.

This LE contains actual Japanese-style goodies, which will probably fetch quite a bit after time goes by. The LE itself probably won't be worth much more than the SE, but the bonuses themselves probably will be. Think of the Chibi folder and bag for Blazblue- it's more like that.

I would just like to point out ... my girlfriend was given one of those mousepads by two of my friends; yeah, it has the big boobs and all. She loves it ... says it's the most comfortable one she has ever used ^_^;

Bonuses or not, BB's LE isn't worth much right now, and it'll drop more when the actual game disc price does. It'll hold it's 60 dollar value, but if you're flipping it you probably won't make any profit.

Now... pre-ordering and never picking the games up or returning them afterwards, that's the way to profit.

I love my Blazblue limited edition and I'm pretty excited about this one too. Profit or no, it doesn't matter because I'm not selling. :bouncy:

This was posted on the Aksys forums by an Aksys employee a couple of hours ago.
To answer your first and, I imagine, most pressing question, no, there will be no Agarest Limited Edition for the PS3. I mentioned in the blog post that we were “examining out options for both platforms”, and we have done just that. Unfortunately, our options for the PS3 have turned out to be nonexistent. We looked into a number of different possibilities—including, as some have suggested, download cards, or even just PSN “gift cards” in retail boxes—but for reasons which I am, unfortunately, not at liberty to disclose, those possibilities have not panned out. There will be a few digital reparations for PS3 users, but there will be no Limited Edition. Please believe me when I say that I am very, very sorry.
I hope you don’t mind if I hijack your thread for a moment, but you’ve taken the time and had the courtesy to open this discussion civilly and intelligently, and given the precedent you’ve set I would like to take this opportunity to address a few other things that have been on the minds of many of the members of our community.
Despite the apparent common sentiment, we have never had an intentional bias toward the Xbox 360. We endeavor to bring as equal of an experience as possible to whatever consoles a game is being released on, but the unfortunate reality of doing business in this industry is that sometimes that cannot happen. Many people have used the content of this post to say that the PS3 version was complete, and was delayed for the 360 version. I had hoped, when writing that "quote", that the exaggerated and clearly fallacious explanation would have made it clear that this was not the case, or that the line “Ed.’s note: That’s a lie.” following the statement of the PSN version’s delay would indicate that the PSN version was not, in fact, finished. At the time the post was made, the script was not finished, and testing had not even begun. It was, in no way, “ready to go”.
Many people have asked for the reasoning behind the choice to go PSN-only for the PS3. This particular issue was covered in a podcast a number of months ago (I believe it was this one), but the explanation is simple enough: That decision is out of our hands. Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to discuss the subject any further, which I know is incredibly frustrating, but sadly, that’s how it is. I have seen a number of people ask why we would forgo a physical release, when the target audience for this game so clearly wants one. That is an excellent question. If we could have, we would have.
I apologize to PS3 owners and PS3 fans who feel they are being slighted. There is no denying that, in a certain context, people who buy the 360 version are getting more than you. We did our utmost to bring the best experience to everyone we could, but we're not perfect. We'll keep trying to bring gamers on all consoles games they want. I know it's a bitter pill to swallow, but if you want to see more games like Agarest released on the PS3, and released on physical discs, then buy this game. I realize that seems very self-serving (and let's face it, it is), but "boycotting" the game, as a few have suggested will only insure that games such as this become a poor business decision not only for us, but for other localization companies as well.
Anyway, thank you to anyone who read through this whole thing. I know I almost certainly haven't told you what you wanted to hear, but I hope that by revealing and explaining what facts I can, the air surrounding this game and its release can be cleared, at least a little.

Isn't that the same sort of shit Sony of NA pulled during the PSX and PS2 era?

Sounds like a political/legal thing that's not worth trying to figure out. If I didn't have both consoles as an option and I wanted the game, I'd be disappointed for sure. Plus, a 10 gig download? I don't think I can handle that, especially on PSN...

I.....added it to my amazon order, along with red dead redemption. That game looks freaking amazing and I usually don't care for western themes.

I know this is a bad idea....good marketing strategy fellas, well played.
