Reduced Price Game Guides: Thread Seven and a Half.

One of the Tomb Raider guides dropped to a penny either yesterday or the day before at EB/GS. I don't remember if it was Legend or Anniversary, because my guys threw it away before I could see it.
 
The Nintendo version of Zelda Wind Waker guide is $3.99 at Gamecrazy. I got one the other day.

I believe Legend is part of an older EB drop. so that should be Anniversary.

I thought that Legend only dropped to something like $4.99 and got stuck there?

Either way, I traded for that from someone on CAG already.

nah it dropped to a penny. I rememeber picking up a sealed one about a month or two ago when EB had that big drop. so Anniversary should be the one that has dropped now.
 
Well, it doesn't matter to me either way, since I did trade for one from on here and I'm SO fuckin' L if I wanted to get a copy or two of Anniversary from GS, due to my labeling as a devil customer and being barred from getting anything that pennies anymore. LOL
 
There probably wont be a large scale drop for the rest of the year. Around this time last year BB stopped penning guides around the end of the year and didnt start till next year.
 
I'll be on the lookout for the Tomb Raider Anniversary. i'm planning on getting it eventually so I might as well pick up the guide in advance.

Wait!?!?!?!? I thought the Pokemon 10th Anniv thing was pennied in the last one? I know I tried that hardcover one about 3-4 times, whenever I was there, and it rang up full price each time.

As for me, none of those interest me, plus my local TRU stores are run by the usual 'we can't sell them' type of slappies. That happened last time with the Liberty City Stories, San Andreas and True Crime NYC guides which dropped. Either that or I get the cover rippers, who proceed to take off either the front or back cover to account for all the copies of a guide.

Sad to say that my best source, once again, is Best Buy around here.

I would like to have the Scarface guide, but I can't deal with the rejection and disappointment. Boo-hoo.
 
I'm 100% positive I saw the Naruto and Pokemon guides today. ... I might've seen the Lego Star Wars and one Sonic guide. But I almost always get shot down so it's not worth the effort to go out for a denial.

Ya know, I'm not even gonna ad a smarmy response to this, but it does help to know where around here you can and can't get these from. So, I consider it a heads up for any local CAGs to me(whitedeath, anyone else).

I just know that I'd have good and bad luck at some places, though I usually have better luck when I get a young clerk later in the evening at most places.

Actually, my best TRU haul has been with a male clerk who just didn't give a shit if he was allowed to sell them or not. I musta grabbed about 20 or more guides that time. Worst denial was the last drop, where a manager came over after the older gentleman working the register called him over. Not a big loss, but I missed out on getting a San Andreas guide for trade and some other dreck I could care less for.

Oh and I saw many of the drop guides in the usual clearance game bins at the further away TRU the other night(most of them were marked with prices lower than cover price, usually $8.48 or so), but I was only looking for specific guides from this drop, so I didn't pay attention to which other ones dropped.

I know I saw numerous copies of NFS Carbon, Naruto and one of the Pokemon XD guides(the red cover one, I think the other dropped last time, right?).

BUT I wanted to let y'all know that GameStop dropped Saint's Row, one of the WWF games and GTA Vice City Stories to 1¢, 10/25.
 
LOL If my local GS's weren't run by nazis and it were actual GAMES that dropped to 1 cent, I might be interested. But, thanks for the heads up nonetheless Gwen.

Oh and a heads up for you Gwen, I didn't see Viva Pinata listed on any of the monthly drop lists for BB in the Wiki or on the master list for BB itself, but I know someone mentioned it being dropped. I checked back about 4-6 months too.

I assume it's Smackdown vs. Raw 2007? and also I believe it's the PSP Version of GTA:VCS since I priced checked that on Tuesday and it was still full price.

That was the BB drop that also included Super Paper Mario Prima, Forza 2, and Lost Planet. I actually posted a list of the dropped titles a while back in this thread, which was a repost of a list someone else posted earlier.

I got a great haul from that drop. :lol:

Gwen, what is the VCS guide? PSP, or PS2/PSP? It says in black text at the bottom.

Hahaha. Yeah. "I got $425 worth of guides for sale. But, I'll take $0.34 for them all, since that's all I paid."

(I only was interested in saints row, so I left the other two behind as I didn't think any folks here would be wanting to trade for them.) Off-topic, but wouldn't it be a great if active memberships here required a minimum number of posts or something comparable? Otherwise, the membership becomes void. I know it won't happen but it's a nice concept for keeping people like this out.
 
I found a random Kingdom Hearts guide at my GS today. I check there 2-3 times a week and it's never been there. I also saw Lost Planet, Heroes of Mana and a GTA one.

I only left with the KH guide the 8 bit castlevania figure and the naruto wristband.

I guess everyone hates GS employees or working there but I'm giving mine a shot. The manager said I'm at the top of the list. I feel like the lone GS lover.
 
I grabbed SmackDown 2007, Battlefield 2125 (or whatever), and some other older stuff today (including a creased Castlevania PoR). Not much that I need, most of it will probably be for trade when I get around to updating it.

If they're pimping out their post on CL for guides here, does that mean I can whore out my list too? But, unlike them, I only want about $3-5 per guide. Of course, those prices are for local pickup only. They would be MORE if I had to ship em.

Oh and Neo, I've been suggesting a way to weed out lurkers for a while, but I think many who only check CAG for deals but figure since they have nothing to contribute they don't post would end up booted as a result. And then you would have ALOT of angry CAGs emailing the admins to be re-allowed.
