There was a Pokemon Emerald guide sitting around inside my local GS, and I figured Emerald was pennied, like, forever ago, right? But I asked the clerk to check the price on the computer, and he said it was full price. Weird, huh?
some one please update the wiki, hard to browse this forum on my mobile in store. thanks
New rule:
No Whining.
updated the wiki with the latest EB drops. when I get the chance I'll help do the sept drops.
Beautiful job!! All I did was ABC the drops by date, but other than that it looked perfect!!
I'm actually in the middle of getting the september drops into the wiki, so very shortly, we will be up to date.
Does anyone know if that is the full list then?
GTA VCS (whichever one wasn't pennied already =P)
WWF sometin o oida
Looks like it was gta: vcs ps2 & psp and smackdown v raw 2007.
Odds are the GTA VCS guide that dropped is PSP and PS2, since the PSP version is already pennied at places BB and I think it was even pennied at GS earlier.
I don't follow the WWE games, so I have no idea what guide that'd be. I didn't even know they made guides for those games, actually.
Does Barnes and Noble or F.Y.E. penny out guides? I think both have a FF8 guide I would love to grab.
Also I'll see if I can get a list of the guides from Gamestop on Monday.
Barnes & Noble = No
Borders = No
FYE = VERY VERY VERY VERY YMMV (I think I've read one or two posts where people have picked up a penny guide because they were lucky that day and incidentally also won the lottery later in the same day)
Only two guides I've ever heard of dropping and one I managed to snag from an FYE store personally were:
GTA Double Pack(the PS2 version, since the Xbox one is still in stock at my one local FYE)
Psi-Ops(PS2,Xbox)-This is the one I happened to get, which I almost didn't. I think I bought a pack of gum to get them to agree to sell me it. LOL
Although, someone mentioned another guide dropping just recently somewhere back in this thread, though I can't recall for the life of me what that one was.
GS has the Halo 3 guide on sale for 9.99 in their new sale flyer. I picked it up Friday.
No wonder it's on sale. It's a horrible "Guide." It looks fine and the art is actually really good, but it tries sooooo hard to not spoil anything that it is of no practical help other than to give you maps of the levels.
Nowhere near as good as the previous Halo game guides for actually helping you in the game, but still a really nice looking book.
Picked up the following yesterday at GameStop, so they're definitely confirmed as pennied:
World of Warcraft: Dungeon Companion (PC) x2
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII (PS2) x2
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (360)
Saints Row (360)
Bully (PS2)
That's the issue with BB online ordering, the item could be in-stock for in-store pickup, though if sold out on the website, it's not orderable.
I think it'll be worth making a run by my local BB this evening on the way home from work, since I think they had most of those guides on-hand as of Saturday evening.
I know I saw most of those in my local BB's too, but I know if I wait till later today, they won't be there. They've been very dilligent about pulling them. Hell, I bet they'll yank them before I get there this am. Gotta head up that way anyway to see if my local Sears has the rest of the forms for me to sign for the job I'm supposed to start tomorrow.
I'm probably only gonna look for The Darkness or Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but I may grab at least one of each of the others if I find em there.
I know NGS, The Darkness and Transformers were ones I'd want, though the "cheats" books are always worth having on-hand for a penny. POTC was one I picked up on a previous drop.
I'll make a run to BB after work and see what I can find.
Re: BB drop: Poor, poor Animal Crossing: WW and Final Fantasy III guides. I fear they'll never drop now.
I guess the cheat code books will work for me; anything else is good for trading granting I can find them.
I did find Xenosaga III and Final Fantasy X-2 at a suburban EB over the weekend, although the Prima Tomb Raider Anniversary guides did NOT ring up as a penny (scanned in as $19.99 or close, but definitely were not a penny.)
This happened with the Gameshark penny guides at a different Gamestop closer to my home too, scanning in at full price ($10?)
Are these all new drops? I know BB had the Godfather guide as a penny like three times.
I know my BB has at least 1 or 2 of these. Not sure when I can get over there, though. k
That's because there were 2-3 different versions of that guide, Rocko. The first was PS2/Xbox, the next added the PSP and the last added the 360 and possibly the Wii or PS3.
As for these being new drops, I swear The Darkness dropped the last time BB had a drop, but I may be wrong.
Either way, I struck out at my closest BB, they must've had them all pulled by the time the store opened since I recall seeing MANY of those just as recently as last week.
I might try to swing out to BB over the lunch hour and see what I might find, though I have to run to my BB back in my neck of the woods to have them reprint a receipt.
Will have to check later today for The Darkness and NGS. It's a shame I can't order online for in store pickup. It worked last time with Shadowrun and Forza 2 guides...
No NGS at my BB. I did pick up the Darkness, Transformers, and the gameshark code book. I tried the Nintendo power version of the Pokemon guide and it was still full price.
