Not the best analogy, as opening a bottle of soda doesnt make it cheaper ;)
Nowhere near as bad as chewing on the strategy guide before youve paid for it either.

It doesn't really look like anything is missing from the BB website, except for Rouge Galaxy. I wonder if that is dropping. It didn't last week.
Pokemon Dungeon is also gone
Was there more than 1? Nintendo's is still on there. I'm assuming Prima had one?

yea the prima one. The prima pokemon ranger is also gone

I lucked out and picked up God of War II guide fo a penny. There were 2 copies on the shelf - one with a long isbn/upc sticker and the other without. Needless to say I left the stickered one behind.

You've all seen the mtv.com post right? I've just noticed they have some guides for sale too! Just ordered the Baten Kaitos guide for $0.00 shipped! Use the code FREEMONEY or see the original mtv.com post for details.

Good luck getting some freebies!

ordered about 17 guides using the coupon, most for a doller or less, but the coupon is now dead, and knowing my luck my orders will be canceled.

Yesterday, GameStop dropped the following 2 guides (there might have been more, this is all we got at my store.)

Shadow Hearts: To the New World
Naruto Ultimate Ninja

Dropped to a penny or just dropped in price (to like $5 or $10)?

Thx OP,

Picked up a copy of SH:FTNW for 0.01.

Also, thx BB OP, finally found a God of War 2 guide for 0.01.

Both are up for trade in my Guide TL

Thanks for posting but these were posted Wednesday morning.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I just got a free copy of the Tomb Raider: Legend guide at Gamestop.
that guide dropped a long time ago

Being the nerd that I am, I went to the Big Apple Comicon here in NYC.

At one table I couldn't believe what I saw. A table had video game guide "blowout", $5 or 3 for 10$.

I thought hey that's not a bad price, so I checked it out.

Then I noticed all the guides had EB/GS or BB price tags on them. And i realized they were all pennied guides and have been pennied out at either store within the last 6 months or so.

The volume of how many guides they had just amazed me. 25+ copies of the GTA LCS guide and about 12 GTA VCS guides for example, and enough total guides to have a whole booth.

There's hoarding and then there's dedicated hoarding. Gotta give em credit for making capitalism work for them huh?

With that many duplicate copies, somebody had an "inside connection." No way a customer gets that lucky scouting stores.

The GTA LCS and LCS guides are really common. I mean there were tons at Gamestop and BB when they were pennied out.

Has anyone heard of or seen Virtua Fighter 5 getting a discount? I would be willing to pay up to $10 (total cost) for it, but the $17+tax is a little much for me.

Thanks
I should wear one of my BB Devil Customer shirts. LINK
I'm not big on devils, but I'll pull out my "I play violent video games and could snap at any moment" t-shirt for ya. I hardly ever wear t-shirts (I prefer to dress more professionally... I do wear some casual attire, but not t-shirts, except on rare occasions.

Actually, it might be funny to wear that to my local BB. There's a great kid who works their CS desk, who I've gotten to know. Something as out of character as that would be worth a laugh.

ANYway. I'm starting to get back to the Wiki. About seven years late, but at least I'm getting to it. First I'm clearing out whatever happened to the EB master section. THEN I'll get to updating the drops that have occured since end of march/beginning of april. And once that's done, then I'll update the Second post with recent drops and upcoming possibles.

That said, there have been a bunch of posts in this thread which don't actually help much. (ie, "I've picked up X, Y and Z. some are still available in the trade list") If you've been posting like that, please do us a favor and keep those in the trade list. If you're giving an update on guides which haven't yet been reported, by all means post.
Yesterday at Gamesplot I found Atomic Death Killers marked to a Penny! Has this been reported yet?
Note: it includes store, date and guide title. It says nufin about availability of that guide for trading.

Please don't get me wrong, I love discussions and fooling around as much as or probably more than the next guy. But this thread is already over 800 posts, and at an estimate, probably 50 of those posts have anything informative to add.

Definately keep sharing your hauls, your hardluck stories and what guides you think may drop and when. All that. But keep the trading notices IN THE TRADING THREAD.
You could always make a new thread.
I think Gwen's point was that, regardless of whether it's in this thread or a new one, people need to stop making clutter posts. Let's keep the posts relevant to the topic. If she's willing to do the upkeep for the thread (and she is) then let's respect her requests for maintaining the thread.
You could always make a new thread.
I did. Just over three months ago.

Cisco has the idea; keep posts in this thread informative to what has dropped. Posts that are designed to let others know what you have to trade don't belong in here. They belong here.

And now, as of 01:45 Eastern, the wiki has been for all intents and purposes, cleaned up and updated with all the drops I've missed the past two months. So hooray, the wiki Master List and Recent Drop List are current. So are post 2 and 3.

Please, hold your applause.

Job well done. :D

Though, as we're a little on the portly size for the size of this thread, making thread #8 might not be a bad idea, so we can start fresh.

Mmm. Good luck keeping this a non-discussion thread, then, if all you want is a purely informational thread. ;)

Well done on the wiki, though.
With that many duplicate copies, somebody had an "inside connection." No way a customer gets that lucky scouting stores.
That sounds like the one indy shop here, whose guide shelf has gone from maybe a couple dozen guides to a couple hundred within the span of maybe ummmm 4-5 months? Of course, his collection currently includes a Xenosaga I guide, an MK 3 guide(for SNES, Genny, Arcade, etc) and a bunch of older and newer ones(including a FFVIII guide which I didn't see the last time I was at his shop)in a total clusterfuck that he calls his guide shelf.

I could easily give him one of each guide I have buttloads of without flinching and still have a virtual shitton of them. Bad part about all his guides though, is I'm usually the only person who EVER seems to look through the guides.

I was a semi dedicated hoarder at one point, who only now goes after ONLY the RPG guides or ones I truly want. Excessive amounts of guides take up assloads of space, this much I know from experience. :whistle2:X

Either way, some guides ARE very common and you can't get rid of for shit, while others disappear as if sucked into a black hole. Although for a while you were able to let the guides kind of 'build up' for a couple months about a year ago, then swoop in and grab as many as you could carry or wanted from ANY store just about(BB especially). However, due to the crackdown on guides lately, you're lucky if they're still on the shelf when the store opens.
It's a preference to keep threads down to 500 posts or less, which is an inheritance from the older days on CAG when 500+ post threads caused issues with the DB.

What I'm politely suggesting is that we make thread #8 and close this one up, so we can start with a minty fresh new thread.

Thanks Camel, you're right. I've fixed the wikis and post 3, which is where Rogue Galaxy belongs.

And did Shrike say something? I coulda sworn I heard his keys typing, but I'm getting nothing over here.

Nothing in principle. It's just that this was created not long ago at all, and look how many posts we have in here already.

Edit. Ne'er mind. Six had 1600 posts in about as long as this one has 850. I'll start a new thread to keep you and Shrike happy. BUT Let's keep 'em organized.

Edit: Shrike my darling, could you be a Mod and close this thread?
